  1. *frowns at the Hofner bass controller he got with Beatles: Rock Band* Bah. I got a lemon and have to ship it back to EA.

    Ah well. What's shakin' folks?

I'm not being nasty, although since you don't hang around here very often you'll likely take it as such. I speak my mind as an un-interrupted flow of thought since I don't care about playing the social game of popularity with strangers. The facts of the matter are you're *really* good. Better than most everyone here in the art forums. But to me, you're not [blank] dollars good.

For just a pencil sketch, with no ink, no color, little background, limited characters, I'd expect a lot more out of it than strange centers of gravity, flawed perspective and shortcutted lines. You make the same mistakes that other amateur artists do, albeit with a polish that comes from repetition and confidence. I would pay you more than I would pay some other artists here on the forums, but certainly not what you want to charge. There's other people who are just as skilled who are providing more for less and I cannot in good faith ignore that in my assessment.

My opinion is an extreme one, because I have a pet peeve with the combination of artists, popularity and money. So it's unlikely that everyone feels the way I do. But that's my opinion and I stand by it, regardless of what price I pay for having it.
Well there are professionals who do make mistakes too, which is why I prefer to get art done in stages so that those mistakes do get covered up. Sorah's work been published in Marvel and she's working on 11x17 boards. And her commissions do get "signed off" on by some very respectable industry professionals.

I'm more surprised that you've chosen to voice your opinion about the "value" issue though. I disagree with it; I think Sorah's work is fair value. But I do commend you for saying something. I mean, it's unusual given the typical praise parades that go on for alot of other pieces. I'd probably be chased off the forums if I said what I'm really thinking more often when I browse through these threads.
  3. Sword-chuks would be epic though.
  4. *is countin' his pennies and ready to hit Gamestop to pick up Rock Band: Beatles!*
  5. Checked out Loston Wallace's sketchbook online and decided to buy a few copies for myself and a friend, as he was offering free sketches with each book. Then Loston decided to go all out and turn into some serious tonal drawings without any additional costs. I gotta say collecting sketchbooks is definitely worth doing if you're looking for some inexpensive art from professionals. Got the art colored as well for a small nominal fee. Great bargain all in all. Click on the images to visit Loston and Nate's dA galleries.

  7. Finished with a touch of sauce...Sorah Sauce that is. Got a little bit of everything in these three pieces, linework, inks, and colors. Looking good I might add. I really encourage model sheets because it's an opportunity to capture and highlight details of your CoH/CoV characters that aren't depicted in-game. Sure you can give instructions by text to an artist, but they can and often do get overlooked. Anyways, the cape, logo, and belt buckle (Kanji for "space") are all little details Planet Girl's player came up with. Clicking on the images will send you to their dA entries.

What's the PS3 Slim? Just a re-design with less features, just like the X-Box 360 Arcade?
