It's a bit more complicated than that. TA's network doesn't help as much as you'd expect because, being superhero fare, most of the art is actiony while I have a much more relaxed setting in mind, so I have no idea how well any given artist would do. Also, while I don't specifically need to commission an artist who's already done CoH-themed art, I'm guessing it would help if they were already familiar with the subject matter - they might think of ways to improve the picture, whether in terms of posing, composition or detail which I wouldn't.
I'm still not quite sure what you mean by realistic either. The sample you showed is in my view, anime-ish. -

Fair enough. I suppose for a project of this magnitude, going to a local printer would be the best bet and letting them take care of that. Of course, I should probably figure out how to actually put all this stuff together into a book. hrm....

That one chica used to be a guy, the green demon girl, before the spells. I got an RP history dump on them which was interesting but it was all at once so kinda overwhelming.

From what I've gathered, some folks tend to work in RGB with photoshop and then, if they're looking towards actual printing of the piece, convert it over to CMYK at a certain point to finish it out. Depends a lot on what they're doing with it though.
Photoshop has more options for adjustment when dealing with RGB colors, if I recall.
EDIT: Oh, you get more accurate colors (when working) on the screen if you're working in RGB, for sure. (further editing to clarify that printing is another story) -
If you call going afk and browsing dA "roleplaying", sure. I was mostly checking in every 20 minutes, and seeing Rook hit on chicas of all sorts. =P

Well I don't think Villains are the types to go with a common uniform (super-villains that is). What about just going with the X-Men style of things...you're permitted to wear anything you want so long as the SG's logo is displayed somewhere on your costume?
