If any of the artists on the network is interested, they can join the CoH group page as a member of the Artists' Alley section and post their samples there. No offense, TA but this network could use a little neater organization. Up to four sample pieces per partner, one gallery to look through, each thumbnail links to the artist's site.

Jets/Colts in the AFC Championship Game? *flips the birdie at the 2009 NFL Season*
Ah well. I'll root for the Jets to make it to the big game, but hope that the Saints win it all. New Orleans could use a pick-me-up and to hell with New York winning the World Series and Superbowl in a span of six months! -
Nope! This is it. Inks and colors to follow, and then it's on to other projects.

The cover artist of #611 is Skottie Young. *shrugs* his work is very stylized.

Double post...but I wanted to also point out that the penciler, Loston Wallace is amazingly talented. Just to get an idea of how good he is...he's a former City of Heroes player and he drew that Nemesis Staff from *memory". So yeah...l33t skillz there.

Quote:Heh, pretty much my sentiment. There's good fan fiction out there...and though it's usually the bad ones that get alot of attention. If I can't "see" a good story/premise for an encounter between my characters and someone else's...I'm not going to try to force the issue. There's plenty of other stuff (pr0n) to share over the net.
The way I see it your pretty much on target buddy... some crossovers work, many totally suck... anything can be "made" to work... just because you can doesn't mean you should... etc *nods*

All joking aside while I don't know Bayani personally that well yet I do know he wants nothing but the best for his gallery and if little things can be caught and corrected before he has to commission another (Swany?) artist to come back in and correct the mistakes the OA made, well, I think he might be ok with it.
This is true. That particular flaw in the art will be corrected when it's inked. This is still technically a WIP, I just wanted to share it before someone else gets the same idea to create a parody/homage to Skottie's pic.

I think one of the other ways Bayani and TA are in "different spheres" (but no one is coming out directly and saying it) is that Bayani truly is seeking to have the very best gallery... top flight works by the best people he can get his hands on... it's probably has a lot to do with why he kindly rebuffs any attempts at gift art or "surprises" that don't have his consent prior... that way he doesn't feel obligated to showcase something that is not the very best available (I'm guessing here, by all means correct me if I'm wrong Bayani).
While TA on the other hand will kindly let anyone try to draw his OC. Really anyone at all (even if it lands him in the occasional tutu and nipple tassles) and he will be appreciative of all their works and proudly showcase and support their efforts no matter what.
TA the Collector is a nice guy, and yes there are *alot* of differences between the way we write, present, and collect art of our characters. For reference, I've included links to the characters' profiles below.
Bayani's Profile | Thor's Assassin's Wiki Page
I think this particular commission points out pretty much all the differences between us and our characters succinctly, the contrasting character designs and the different approaches to collecting the creators have. Overall, it's got "swish", because yes, there is a bit of an added jab at Liefeld. ("swish" being the sweet sound of the extra free throw after a foul on a made three-point shot in basketball, for the sports-challenged folks.)

Quote:Sure, given alcohol, time ,and pot, any writer could come up with a storyline that Michael Bay would turn into a movie (replete with panning shots of large, sophisticated military equipment to eat up time).I've always figured that in a comic book world any two characters can interact easily enough, at least on a short term basis... Heck, some of the best teams ups are major powers with what are, at least technically, minor powers. Prime example may be superman and batman... Though bats can go up against anyone he technically is a minor in the power level category...
As for storylines, unless two inhabit totally different spheres, it would almost be inevitable for them to cross paths. Sure, maybe one is there to wipe out the whole evil lair and the other just wants to sneak in and grab evidence but almost any pairing can be worked out.
The thing is, this version of Bayani I've worked on over the past five odd years is tailor-fitted to mesh into City of Heroes' canon. I think if you review Thor's Assassin's wiki you could consider him to be practically in a different sphere at this point. Batman/Superman are in the same universe (the DC one) with a (somewhat) consistent set of "rules" that apply to everyone. As the creator of Bayani, I didn't feel there was any way I could see/write/participate/approve of a story involving a "real" encounter between the two characters. This particular picture was more satirical than anything else and works for me because of that. The direction I've been trying to stick to with my gallery is to collect images that would build Bayani's story/universe. -
Quote:Hehe...yeah. There are a few "layers" to this particular commission.LOLS!...makes me think of what Bayani would look like if Rob Liefeld got a hold of him. (this is somewhat of an inside joke, but for those of you that don't know Rob...he was HUGE in the early to mid-90's and more or less fell out of favor as fast as he rose...and he was notorious for "gadgets and excessive gear" for all his costumes. The most funny being gun designs that look like vacuum cleaners or mysterious gun stocks popping out from behind the shoulders with no guns attached...lols. He did establish the look for Cable from the X-Men, but that's not Cable's fault.

Over the years, :Thor's Assassin has mentioned a few times that Bayani and TA need to be in a commission together. I've been rather hesitant because I just really never saw the two characters's paths intersecting due to the vast differences in their stories and power-levels. And yeah, I do like to tease TA from time to time about his costume design.
It wasn't til I picked up Amazing Spider-Man #611 that I found a perfect layout for a Bayani/TA commission. This will get inked/colored eventually, but I reeeeeeeeeeeeally wanted to put this up. Hehe. So here's the first (and only) encounter between Bayani and Thor's Assassin. Art by Loston Wallace, homage to Skottie Young's Amazing Spider-Man #611

Quote:Well you can learn a good amount of the Menders by exploring the content there but yeah, it's very flexible. I like the canon for the Menders, and Midnight Club, too, because they're open-ended and involve storyarcs that allow your characters to become members of those factions.Fabulous job... The characters, the background, the frame... It all works great!
As for the Menders, not into them myself but I think often the less there is known about a group the more attractive it can be since you have that much more freedom to make your own histories and stories. -
I have a recurring school nightmare about once a month. I dreamt that I was signed up for a class that I never attended a single lecture for, and I'm sitting at the table, with no idea how to even approach the Final exam. Oi, I hate that dream...
