Mornin' folks. How were your weekends?

Since he ended up chosing to be the first to draw Bayani in his Lawin (retro) costume, it basically ended up as "Dick Grayson as Bayani". But hey, it's a free sketch of my character by Jim Lee done in seven minutes. Free meaning 1 twenty-five dollar parking ticket and about five and a half hours of standing in line (because some idiot told Jim Lee he could make it to the art store near Fenway Park from South Boston and back in 45 minutes...which is like trying to cross downtown LA or cutting through NY Time Square in a car). Someone asked me once who would be artist I would select if I could go home from a convention with only one piece of original Bayani art, and my choice would be Jim Lee. Funny how things work out that way. *ponders* Now where to go from here...

It's cool. Once you get the right reference and the finished piece, future works are easy because you have exactly the right look you need.

I didn't really pick up on it right away. I think the reason why it looks like a really neat cut is because when I did a test print of the model sheets, there were a few layer issues that left unwanted marks on the page. I think Eddy went really tidy on this piece to avoid that in the future. If I were going to make a serious print of this, yeah, I'd probably want to go through another revision. But it's one of those very minute details that I doubt will make much of a difference in the page I have in mind for it.

Yes. And Citadel next week I guess? I'm going to try to squeeze in a Sister Psyche TF then, either Saturday or Sunday.

A Weekly Themed TF sounds like a fun regular thing to indulge in. Maybe go through all the Hero TFs then the villain ones? So far we've had a Baywatch TF, and now a pink (which I'll call TF Strawberry Shortcake) one...what do you suppose next week's TF theme should be?

Well, I don't know if it'll make much of a difference. When you factor in that the print area of the page is about 7.5x10 inches and the picture will be re-sized to no bigger than about a quarter of that page, it probably won't be a big deal. It'll be going on a short biography page, similar to the Virtueverse page I have that few people visit.

Eddy's work over both those artists' lines are pretty good and inexpensive.

DC, on a team of 4-5, getting from 12-15 isn't all that difficult. I'll be running missions tonight to bump someone up from 13 to 16 to get ready for the TF.

Oooo shiny. A college classmate of mine is a professional photographer working for Rolling Stone and she uses that camera as her backup. I dunno how much you'll be using it for video stuff but for stills that'll be more than enough. I noticed you got an extra lens. Did you get a flash too?

Art by David Nakayama. It's an old piece...the first commission I've ever gotten actually. The original had Bayani punching Statesman but I wanted to the image of Bayani for a special page in the comic I'm working on. I had Eddy photoshop out Statesman and then manipulate the lines to align the figure more vertically; then he re-colored the piece. Looks ready for print now.
