D_R's videos are on par with NCSoft's releases. Sometimes hers are even better than the "official" versions. (This was especially true with the I16 trailer.)
-
Quote:You could always download them directly from the media page. This weekend my friend's son(12-14 years old) signed on to his father's email account to send me an email about how much fun CoH was. He even tied his facebook account to his father's to post his daily adventures for the past 14 days too.
Before I notified his father, I sent him this link to the videos so he would convert his account. Where can I get official CoH videos? I know this sound stupid but as I was building a promo email to send to him I noticed on youtube, others come up before "official CoH" on the search results. Dark Respite comes to mind.

Quote:Actually it just leaves...Well the CCA is now quite dead with Archie Comics dropping it as well.
BONGO COMICS!
Bongo? Okay, they are the ones doing the comic book versions of the Simpsons and Futurama. -
Quote:Power Girl's bustline was initially considered "average", which was back when she had just a scoop-front top instead of the current "cleavage window". Wally Wood (no, seriously, that's his name), the artist for All-Star Comics, reportedly increased her chest size gradually wanting to see how long before someone would notice. Nobody did.*looks at the last rule for the CCA*
Yeah I think Power Girl broke that one, and maybe Wonder Woman too but not as bad.
To borrow from the late George Carlin... "CCA didn't see it, I didn't do it, case closed." -
Quote:That was the one - Amazing Spider-Man #96-98, in May-July 1971, dealt with drugs.I remember watching an interview with Stan Lee talking about one comic issue, maybe Spiderman (?) in the mid-60's or so, that had an issue dealing with something the CCA wouldn't let them run.
They ran the comic without the CCA logo imprinted on it, which means the CCA couldn't review and object to it, and it still sold, and no one complained about it missing the logo. -
Quote:The Wikipedia entry also has links to the updated requirments, but they also had their share of conflicts. For instance, when the White House under Nixon asked Marvel to do an anti-drug message, the CCA rejected it because it featured drugs. The requirements that the CCA imposed in the 1950s are not the same requirements that they imposed in the 1970s, which is when Marvel was finally able to publish TOMB OF DRACULA (prior to that, they had to use a 'living vampire', aka Morbius) and WEREWOLF BY NIGHT (instead of that scienfifically created lycanthrope "Man-Wolf"). So yes, the CCA tried to keep up with the times, in the same sense that Minimum Wage has kept up with Inflation.

DC Comics announced yesterday that they have dropped out of the Comics Code Authority.
Announcement: http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2011/01...co-publishers/
The CCA was created in the 1950's in response to the Congressional witch-hunt of the comic book industry. Many distributors of the time refused to sell books that did not have the CCA seal. Among the CCA's demands in 1954 were that:- Crimes shall never be presented in such a way as to create sympathy for the criminal, to promote distrust of the forces of law and justice, or to inspire others with a desire to imitate criminals.
- If crime is depicted it shall be as a sordid and unpleasant activity.
- Criminals shall not be presented so as to be rendered glamorous or to occupy a position which creates a desire for emulation.
- In every instance good shall triumph over evil and the criminal punished for his misdeeds.
- Scenes of excessive violence shall be prohibited. Scenes of brutal torture, excessive and unnecessary knife and gunplay, physical agony, gory and gruesome crime shall be eliminated.
- No comic magazine shall use the word horror or terror in its title.
- All lurid, unsavory, gruesome illustrations shall be eliminated.
- Inclusion of stories dealing with evil shall be used or shall be published only where the intent is to illustrate a moral issue and in no case shall evil be presented alluringly, nor so as to injure the sensibilities of the reader.
- Scenes dealing with, or instruments associated with walking dead, torture, vampires and vampirism, ghouls, cannibalism, and werewolfism are prohibited.
- Females shall be drawn realistically without exaggeration of any physical qualities.
Marvel Comics abandoned the CCA in 2001. Other publishers, such as Image Comics, refused to apply for the CCA seal. With the departure of DC, only Archie Comics and Bongo Comics are the only major publishers that still submit material for code-approval. -
Quote:I was going to say it sounds a lot like DCUO, but you beat me to it.Unless it's a task force don't expect much. I think the best way to go about this would be what DCUO has done and give you an option of stances at character selection. This would obviously apply to Icon as well. Good suggestion but like you said, just a dream for CoH2.
I agree with the general idea, though I'd see a better chance of having this QoL add-on appear than CoH2. -
I was thinking maybe the current travel powers could be part of the power customization options, and then pick which ones we would want to use for those powers.
For instance, for flight, you could choose which animation you want to use, so it wouldn't go to defaut all the time and then require you to key in the fly emote. -
Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight #20
His handiwork can be felt from the start of the series.
His name was mentioned numerous times.
He was the nemesis of "Doc" Tor during his days as a time manipulator. He was the reason for the year-long disappearance of Icon Powers and the destruction of the home universe of the "Guardian Exiles". He was the unseen half of StarCygnus, prodding the sabotage of the Guardians of the Dawn and instrumental in the perceived "death" of Daybright.
And now his story can be told from two different sources.
Witness the story of ALOR, the destroyer of worlds, and find out what his plans are in the City of Heroes universe as Phase 3 of the "Time and Changes" storyline contines.
Special appearances by in-game characters War Witch and Citadel.

And don't forget to take part in the poll to help decide who will be the next District Attorney for Paragon City. -
Quote:That's a great ad!"As an average hard working citizen of paragon city, I believe the Trust is the best man for the job. I like his ads and his work over the years. I think he can be trusted and proven he is trustworthy. He would be fair and balance and to the letter of the law and the constitution, not to mention cracking down on corruption and irresponsible heroes who are more like vigilantes! Go trust, you have my vote!
In Vance we Trust." This ad paid for by Edward Vance for District Attorney and associates.
( RPed as an ad. Plus having a d bag like him would make it interesting (: ) -
In the "Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight" comic series, the position of District Attorney has been vacant for a few months.
In fact there had been several people in the head prosecutor position over the past year that barely survived a month in office before resigning for various reasons.
As it stands right now, the Deputy District Attorneys have been sharing the responsibilities of the vacated position, including the controvercial DDA Edward "The Trust" Vance. And despite his claims to the contrary, he certainly has aspirations for the top seat.
So the question is... who SHOULD be the new DA for Paragon City?
An online poll has been created at the "Guardians of the Dawn" website that allows you to help make that decision.
http://guardiansofthedawn.wordpress....be-the-new-da/
Should "The Trust" be trusted with the job? How about someone more well-known? (Not to mention honest?) How about Statesman? How about another hero such as the Libertarian Avenger? Maybe there's someone else that you think would be a better prosecutor... if you add their name in the comments section of the poll page, they will also be added for consideration.
This poll will remain open until the new DA has been announced in a future issue of "Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight", so please take part and help shape the future of Paragon City government. -
How about a spell that does this?
It's "/em alakazamreact". It would make for a good craftable power. -
Quote:I'm going to go ahead and say it before anyone else does...Ever since the release of Shield Customisation I've always wondered how great it would be if we could get weapons with similar effects. Now I don't know what we be easier, adding actual auras to pre-existing models or just making new ones with elemental (or more glowie, whatever) themes, I presume the latter, and I realise that you do get such things in fire, ice melee etc.
I think however it would make it much easier to make a weapon set toon that isn't natural/technology. For example, you could make a character that has a magic sword that actually looks magical since it would be glowing! Even tech/natural origins could benefit, I don't just have a sword, I have a sword wreathed in crackling energy! Obviously I am not suggesting that the weapons gain any new kinds of damage or anything, these ideas are purely cosmetic but I think they would greatly improve the appeal of weapon sets nonetheless.
LIGHTSABERS!
Although I do agree that weapons customization needs to eventually be further tweaked. -
We have the Vault services, but I was wondering if that couldn't be remade to serve as an all-purpose "drop box" service for multiple characters that would be outside of the supergroup features.
Here's how it could work... you set up your Vault account with a list of registered characters that would have access to the account. You then drop off enchancements, recipes, inventions, that would be accessable to others in your list.
This would be a little more elaborate than the in-game email attachments and it would give people a reason to use the Vault again. -
I'm shocked it even went THAT far. Warner Brothers should have said HELL NO at the drawing, never mind the body mold and actual costume design!
The REALLY scary part is that this WAS Tim Burton's idea, and if the Batman franchise was any indication of what would happen next, he'd turn it over to Joel Schumacher, at which point we'd have fake neon man-nipples added to the suit with plenty of butt-shots thrown in for good measure. -
-
Quote:Actually it was similar to something I proposed a while ago, with the idea having multiple kinds of NPCs for various functions (security, medical, etc).Hello all! I was going through my base today thinking about having even more you can do in your base. Maybe a base pet or something like that, and of course the more items we have to choose from in our base is always merrier. My main though was making bases more important, just so they are used more often, and little extra things on the side are cool too ( Base pet! ). Ty all for considering my idea - Alpha
Unfortunately base love seems to always be on the bottom of the to-do list. -
Quote:Wow! EXCELLENT work D_R!!!!!And D_R beats the release date for Issue 19 with her video!
