Quote:To answer your questions...I'm going to start with a question and then two suggestions. My question is as to how the fly emotes work. Could flight emotes be easily modified to add things like flying metal discs, floating rocks, etc that the character is standing on or is that technology not part of the flight emote functionality? If it's possible, I think it would be a cool way to add that kind of customization without having to add in a new set of travel powers for the given look.
Regardless of the answer to that question, my two suggestions:
- Standing / standing with arms crossed. I can get it to work pretty well with Hover + Siphon Speed on my Grav Controller, but I'd like to have that look on any character.
- Seated / cross legged. To get the flying carpet, inscrutible mystic, or invisible jet look. If the addition of items as I asked above is possible, an actual flying carpet could be one of the options.
First, fly emotes are triggered only when you are actually flying and not just hovering or standing still. So it's really fly + forward or fly + run, then you trigger the /em flypose(#).
In theory (because I haven't tried this myself), you could set up either a macro or a bind (click here for more) that would say "fly + run + em flypose(#)". It's about as close as you can get to what you're looking for.
Ever since power modiciations were added there have been requests to include the travel powers so one would be able to select a default flying pose, so believe me, you're not alone in wanting to see this happen.
BTW, the command for the seated/cross-legged pose is called "/em lotus". The pose is there; someone just has to add a carpet (or cape) underneath it. -
Quote:File a bug report anyway. Complain there and they'll have to pay attention. It didn't. I tried to save an AE critter called a "Delta Class Guardian" and it flagged the name as invalid. Moreover, it wouldn't let me use a different name for it after that.
Stuff like this is what made me stop making AE arcs months ago. Now I come back this morning with an idea and find that we're back to this stupidity.
Seriously, if this is the path we're on, delete the whole system already and consider it a failed experiment.
Edited for a typo -
Quote:Have you filed a bug report with those arc numbers? I'm told that is what the GMs are looking for.I got a little OCD and tried to fix my arcs that have been invalidated tonight. Logically I really should wait until someone in Paragon Studios (whups!! pardon my profanity, I know Paragon is a bad word here) fixes it, but I just couldn't stand to leave the arcs sitting broken for that long.
They want arc numbers, which I can't give them, because all of my projects affected by this were not yet published, and I can't GET them published because of this problem. -
hey guys, if your arcs are published, go ahead and do a bug report for them and be sure to give the arc number.

"Your Worst Nightmare"
Go ahead and tell me where the profanity or copyright infringement is without having to resort to some snarky troll comment. Go ahead - I DARE YOU!
Oh, and I've already submitted a bug report on this. -
Excellent stuff!
You said the Incarnate song is still a WIP so maybe the female choir could be a little softer, but I really love how you incorporated the "Rise of the Heroes" chorus in there as well. -
Quote:D_R read my mind on this... she just got to say it before I did.Actually, as strange as it sounds, I would love to hear the main COH theme done in MINOR keys. The 'we're heroes, and we've won, but God did it cost us...' kind of thing.
If you're looking for a theme of it, how about Hero 1's memorial and the sort of images that could come up from that? -
Given the great work you've done already, I'm looking forward to hearing this next one.

Something I was thinking about the other day...
Issue 19 launched the Incarnate system, which is supposedly the path to the hypothetical "Endgame". In other words, that's it... there's nothing more after that. There are no new levels, no new plateaus to strive for, you're at the peak and there is nothing beyond it.
Keep that in mind. Endgame means THE END!
So the Incarnate system has TEN levels, from Alpha to Omega. As I understand it, once you get to Omega, that's it. That's the Endgame. Alpha was introduced in Issue 19. Issue 20 introduced Judgment, Interface, Lore, and Destiny.
That's five levels. Halfway to Endgame.
Given that new "issues" are released about every three-to-four months (depending on programming), the initial Incarnate system had the potential to last three years, presuming that every issue after 19 added one new Incarnate level.
But at this rate, with developers cranking out up to four Incarnate levels per issue, we could see Endgame by the end of the year.
Why the rush, guys?
Let's think about the competition for a second: the biggest complaint that I've been hearing about DC's venture into our MMO territory is that they reach endgame too soon and then there's little reason to keep going after that.
Now what happens after the Omega Incarnate is unlocked? There's nothing after that. There's really no reason to keep those Omega Incarnates going. They've reached endgame - as in THE END.
Sure there have been plenty of level 50's for years now, but that's because there wasn't any word about an endgame. Would there be new levels? Would there be a next step? "What's next?" It was always kept up in the air. Now there's an endgame strategy. There is no "What's next" after that. There is no reason to keep those characters going after that. How are you going to keep those players interested (and paying subscriptions) if they've already reached the end for all of the characters and there's nothing more that interests them?
So my suggestion to the developers - if there is ANY SINGLE suggestion that they would ever consider in this forum - is that you DO NOT rush the endgame! Take your time. Stretch it out. Spend some time on addressing the myriad of other things on the wish-lists of your subscribers. (Yes, that's right, I said SUBSCRIBERS! Because these are not just "users", these are your CUSTOMERS.) Release just one new Incarnate level with every issue and you can reach endgame in about twenty months.
The name of the game is to keep the people coming back for more. That is what has kept this MMO going for as long as it has with a dedicated base of subscribers. Please keep that in mind. -
Issue 21: Reclamation
Storyline: After years of just "containment", city officials have decided to reclaim the hazard zones. They want to clear out the gangs and rebuild the Hollows, Perez Park, Dark Astoria, and Boomtown. The problem is that the gangs don't want to leave and they're prepared to remind the city WHY these places are considered "hazard" zones.
At random points, riots begin at the security areas as waves after waves of gang members start attacking. Heroes are tasked with defending the security zones and keeping the chaos contained. Side missions include shutting down the Arachnos agents that are responsible for arming the gangs.
Meanwhile, the Rogue Isles are also facing their own troubles as the luddites, mine workers, and Gold Brickers try to "reclaim" the Isles for their own. Villains are tasked with keeping the infrastructure going in those locations before Lord Recluse takes more "sterilized" measures. Side missions include sabotaging Wyvern blockades and arming the gangs in Paragon City for their riots.
Additional features:- BASE ITEMS! More room textures, more room furnishings, incorporating some of the Praetorian furnishings into bases.
- Move shirts from the Jackets category to "tight" so they can be used with jackets.
- More trenchcoat options (open and closed jackets).
- Gun-holster belt.
- Sidearm holster for chest detail
- Hero Corps NPCs included in Architect Entertainment missions (pattern after Longbow)
- Hero Corps logo for chest detail
- Headset-and-mic for face detail 2.

I have to wonder if the guys behind this anime series were influenced by City of Heroes.

What do you guys think? -
I think the Rikti Monkeys figured it out...
Phase 1: Steal XP
Phase 2: ?
Phase 3: Profit

Quote:Nicely done!I've rewritten and have relaunched the immature comedy City of rejeX: (0) The Early Nerd.
Thankfully I can now make videos in HD and in Ultra Mode.
Synopsis: Herman has aspirations to be the greatest hero ever. Finding himself in Nova Praetoria, he makes his way to an audition in Imperial City and toys with non-responsive NPCs along the way. But does Herman realize he's not the only gifted civilian with a goal?
And ummm, expect something different than any other CoH videos out there...
PEACE! (and happy gaming...) -
All your XP are belong to us!
For great justice! -
Thank you CoH/Paragon Studios, you have now redeemed yourselves from the 11-hour downtime April Fools prank from yesterday.
-
You know, if they just waited 24 hours to do this, it would have made for an EXCELLENT April Fools prank! They could have hyped how they were releasing this special new upgrade with plenty of Supergroup base goodies for people, the early release of Issue 20, and 10K Prestige for all groups.
Then have people wait around for almost twelve hours only to find...
SURPRISE...
NO CHANGES!
APRIL FOOL!!! Ha ha ha ha... -
I wish I could take part in that, but I have my own production conference call at the same time, so I REALLY hope someone in the group asks about giving some attention to the oft-ignored supergroup bases.

Quote:Excellent work Johnny! The link has been added to the City of Comic Creators Wiki entry for your series.

The Paragon Pundit had this latest review on the back burner for a bit, partially because he had to dig it up.
Movie Review #23: The Punisher (1989 film)
http://battlerockx.blogspot.com/2011...review-23.html
This was the movie featuring Dolph Lundgren as "Frank Castle" or "Punisher" and Lousi Gossett Jr. as his ex-partner.
Don't remember it? That's good, because a lot of people didn't either. But the movie is still out there somewhere if you know where to look. -
Quote:Now THAT is an excellent quote to go viral with.
We are not our competitors; the reason we’ve been so successful over the years is that we’re not trying to be another game. We’re City of Heroes. -
Hey guys... I was on a real creative streak today. Came up with two videos for other projects and I decided to do one for the "team-killer", so I have a brand new "Ask Captain Catastrophe" video to share...
Ask Captain Catastrophe #16: Praetoria
Cap is also pumped up about his forthcoming comic book, although his agent may mess things up. You may have heard of his agent... the same guy responsible for Ascendant-O's.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this latest video creation. -
Looks good. Welcome back. Looking forward to seeing more!
-
I agree! I was going to add that in, because I've done plenty of "Defeat X Council in Steel Canyon" missions and there are usually no Council members left TO defeat thanks to the 5th Column.

And be sure to take part in the poll to help choose who should be the new DA for Paragon City! -
Quote:Well "way back when" I put the two i16 videos back-to-back... so you guys can decide for yourself. And to somewhat dispute Battlerock_X's comment, I wouldn't say mine are better than the official ones. Mine are different. And PS has raised the bar quite a bit on their last few vids.

I still think D_R wins hands down.
