  1. Lol and why is that a big deal when EVERBODY can get a powerful nuke that recharges fairly quickly and can hit what, between 16 and 40 targets? People are complaining about the effect of interface on rains out of context. If you are running a team of people that have slotted up their incarnate powers--how long are those mobs going to stay standing to take damage from the rain? It's silly to obssess over this when a team of fully enhanced players make that damage redundant anyways.

I have ice storm on one of my brutes with tier 4 reactive. It's epic when i'm solo. Its fun to go into a large mob, throw the rain and then watch them melt as I throw my other aoes. On a team of other incarnates..it's hardly noticeably. It doesn't even have time to work before the mobs go down.

All that's going to happen is they'll cater to complainers and single auras and rains to be lame in the application of this effect. It will give those people that feel slighted by not having or not wanting to use these nukes some satisfaction that NOBODY is benefitting from them. The people that were using them will respec, play other characters, or change nothing. And so on until the next crazy underestimated thing catches on and people go to work trying to get that thing nerfed.
  2. Drastically? It's supposed to boost your power substantially. Now it's going to be garbage in those powers and definitely less fun if they go ahead with this nonsense.

I don't think anyone has to change their Interface choice, unless they specifically made the choice to take advantage of an overpowered rain.

The vast majority of characters don't even have rain powers so it literally affects them not at all. Anyone who had rain powers and not-Reactive probably didn't even notice the effect at all. Anyone who is using Reactive should be able to continue to enjoy the fact that all their other powers still do a lot more damage than without the Interface.

I would estimate the number of people who feel they have to change their Interface slot now because of this change is not even double digit.
Oh, well if the number is so small then why are they wasting time making a change when there are so many other things that need to be fixed?

This is just another case where the devs cave to a vocal group of whiners who feel that a power somebody else is using is better than what they are using--thus it should be nerfed. Someone earlier said it made them feel the rest of their powerset was redundant. If that's the case, JUST DON'T USE IT. Nobody is forcing anyone slot interface in a rain power.

Is reactive OP the way it is currently functioning? Yes it is--because that is the point of the whole incarnate system. The idea is to put you on a level with Statesman. So some people have the ability to turn their rain powers into a nuke--is that really a big deal when everyone has the ability to get a large nuke, as well as things like the barrier buff?
Really? You can have a team of 8 with everyone firing off their judgement and spamming barrier constantly to the entire team and that one guy who is nuking people with sleet is a big deal?

I also got a laugh from the idea forwarded by some that this is a pvp driven nerf. First of all they don't care about pvp. Secondly, there aren't that many people around any more that have the skill to effectively use a rain like that in pvp without getting wrecked by sharks, psi blasters, etc. in the process (also you generally just jump out of it). And finally, the chances of you dieing from exposure to an overpowered rain are slim because you would likely be spiked by other damage dealers before the rain could run its course in the event you were unable to escape.

Another stupid nerf that will do nothing to improve the game overall, and make interface lamer to the people affected. Like when they nerfed the range on impale. That was something that really needed to be addressed and I'm sure everyone is really glad they took the time.
  4. You should post about this in the fanart section if you haven't already.
  5. Ok so we could conceivably be looking at a situation where someone is going to get eliminated, uses points they've accrued as a safety net, and then what? The competition is extended an additional month? Someone who did better in the vote gets eliminated instead?

What if, hypothetically, everyone in the competition used their safety net at the same time except for the person who came in at number one through the actual vote? Would the winner of the actual vote be kicked off the island?
  6. I'm not Frozen Death, I'm Battlewraith. I got on his account and rped for a while and it stuck. But we are not the same person.
  7. Here's mine. I usually picture off duty for one of my villains as after a defeat. This is my dom 3Penny being hustled away by some undead friends after a losing battle.

    Can't update

Ugh..nevermind. Just upgraded to Windows 7 and didn't realize it was so relentlessly anal retentive about letting programs install things.

    Can't update

I click on the update button on the NCSoft launcher and it downloads the update. Then when it patches my game, I get an error that says "can't write a file where a file already exists." And it fails to update. Then if I try the repair option it says "Access to path is denied."

    Any help?
  10. Not sure where to post this, I don't think the devs read the pvp section at all.

Yesterday I tested with a friend and it appears that some of the incarnate bonuses are not functioning in the arena. The lore and destiny powers seem alright. Bonuses from interface and the alpha slot don't seem to be applied. I've heard that others have noticed this as well and have complained about it, but I haven't seen any threads.

Please fix this asap. In some cases its taken me weeks to grind the components for a slot, only to get into a match and see no real benefit from it--which probably led me to the false belief that certain powers simply weren't that good in pvp and I need to try something else. I still have no idea if the build I've been working on since i20 went live is any good in melee duels in arena. Everything seems to be working correctly in RV, but that is primarily group combat where the bonuses from things like alpha and interface are going to be less significant.
  11. Bobby whattup! Nice to see you around bro

CR: I respect Bayani's reasoning, but he can get offended too if you just blatantly include him without asking. It's like Stan Lee found out you were drawing Spidey and had a hissy fit. He's a prolific collector, and I'm a free art rules breaker... ;P
You know, the great comic book characters like Batman, Spiderman etc. didn't become established because they had super awesome art. In fact, a lot of the old artwork was kind of crappy. The reason they caught on was that there was a narrative to which people could relate. The ongoing story was the draw and good art was something that could embellish that and elevate it.

I told Bayani that all his strict quality control measures did not, at the end of the day, make him a better collector or produce a better collection because they were centered on a character that had intrinsic value only to him. If you think the character is awesome..the collection is awesome. If you think it's meh..doesn't really matter who is drawing it.

    Thanks Deebs

    Grant--

Yeah the ear is pressed too flat at the moment. I was tight on the geometry when I sculpted that part so I didn't have enough polygons to extrude it as far as I should. I'm going to do a final round of sculpting for detail once the model is posed and can hopefully fix it then.

Now that the book project has wrapped, I'm going to start posting my new stuff here. Here is an update on my Comrade Hero ZBrush sculpt. After endless crashes and technical glitches, I've finally been able to start putting some color on my Russian hommie:

    Also some GITS fanart:

  14. Protector actually does have an active pvp population....on Freedom. The majority of people that were interested are playing over there.

You'd be better off logging in on the server and asking around in arena chat. If Nunyo or Shining Magic are around they could probably help you out. The last time I heard of any organized effort on Protector they were involved.

    Good luck.
  15. When you see people saying 41 pts of kb protection, that basically means enough to never get knocked down. That number is really more significant in the arena where knock back means you can't evade a spike or maybe can't heal if someone is bouncing you around. It's not essential in zones though getting as much as you can is definitely a good idea.

Super speed and super jump are the standard travel powers in pvp because they offer the best speed AND maneuverability when chasing or evading targets. You need both because of things like webnades, glue arrow, etc.

You don't need a super expensive build to do alright in zones. Having a halfway decent team and knowing your role will allow you to get kills and eventually drops which you can use, trade, or sell to improve your build. Having an expensive builds allows you to do more solo, or be competitive against other top tier builds.

Fiteklubber: Someone that wants you to duel them standing still, with no evasion, until one of you is dead.
Scrub: A pvper that relies on the unstructured nature of zone fighting for success and won't venture into other areas (team arena, arena duels) or gets destroyed easily if they do. Examples: flying, sniping blasters. Characters that only come out of the base when their tier 9 power is up. People that teleport foe to the base drones. etc.

"Squishies get their resists capped if they take their resist shields..." So?? Everyones dmg will also go higher and if you plan to have your DMG bonuses higher you will get it w/out being DR'd. You could have /Rads or /Sonics debuff resistance. If people would turn DR OFF in arena, bubblers would also be contributers to the team.
Well DR affects both dmg and mitigation. Doesn't taking it off in the arena add the zone resistance buff to everyone? There's your imbalance. My impression is that with DR off AND one or more good healers in a team event it becomes too easy to survive and the scoring starts to resemble a soccer match.
  17. Regen. Elec is good for dealing with some debuffs and tp, but regen is generally better which is why you see so many running around.

How long was that break? Pvp has changed a lot post i13.

Thanks for checking it out guys! This one was kind of rambling I think but hope it was entertaining.
