Not exactly sure how to describe this, but I was messing around with dual pistols in the costume creator and found that if you zoom in on your character while editing pistols, he assumes a pose where he's holding both guns crossed across his chest. It's an amazing pose, and I didn't see a /emote for it on Paragon Wiki. Is this possible to replicate once inside the game, or only in the costume creator? I can't hide menu's in the actual costume editor and he loses the pose if I go over to power customization... so getting a good, clean screen shot is impossible.
Thanks in advance! -
Thanks for the reply, Father Xmas. #3 is a deal breaker for me, too much work for a dual core. I'll keep looking for a moderately faster single core (I had found a 2.5 ghz, but it was out of stock.) and try and find a graphics card update as well. If my car's transmission and drive shaft hadn't just failed this month, I wouldn't even be trying to get this internet machine to limp along. But that auto work pretty much ate all my tax refund and then some...
While I'm here, where would be a decent place to find some machines that give you some great bang for your buck? I've always looked at IBuyPower, but have never really heard if they're trust worthy machines. Whenever I find myself with some money again, I'd really be interested in getting a "decent" machine for CoX.
(Decent for me is textures and draw distance... the bells and whistles of shadows and Ultra mode are just extra frosting on the cake as far as I'm concerned.) -
The reason I mention upgrading the processor is that CoX eats almost all of the CPU in my Task Management. I do have a PCI Express x1 slot, and have found a card to fit in it. However, I'm looking at upgrading the card to an ATI 4400 something and still having a 1.6ghz processor. A new machine is out of the question, but slow upgrades over time are doable.
So, back to the original question: Will the CPU I listed fit in my socket/motherboard combo and work if the socket type, wattage and class all match the motherboard? Are there any other specs I need to be looking for?
Ram will be the next thing I add, followed by the GPU at the end. I'm not looking to run Ultra Mode, but to get an FPS above 12 in the Rogue Isles. -
I'm currently running CoX on an Emachine, budget gamer here. Looking to upgrade the processor and see if that helps out my frame rates some, I'm assuming my current system's bottleneck is the CPU and not the ram or graphics card. Anyways, here is my pitiful rig.

The current processor is an AMD Athlon 2650e, 1600 mhz. Judging by this article:

I should be able to use this processor.

Am I right in thinking this? Or is there something else I'm overlooking? It's been a long, long time since I've messed around inside a PC, and even longer since I replaced a processor. Any advice to quell second guessing myself would be wonderful.

The "Stop Displaying All" method fixed it. Did that, zoned into an AE mission without anything displaying. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I was messing around with one of my characters one day and opened the Combat Attributes. Under there, I dropped down the Movement effects tab and clicked "Monitor Running Speed." Saw what that did, and then turned it back off. Now, whenever I log onto that character or zone with that character, the Running Speed monitor stays open at the side of my screen. I can turn it back off, but it won't stay off. Is this a known bug? Is there a fix for this?
Thanks. -
Can't access the NCSoft store right now, but is that where we pre-purchase? Gamestop and other stores only seem to have the AE Edition. Or do we wait till March 3rd to pre-purchase? Confused where to put my money down...

Got a quick question: I recently re-read all the old City of Heroes comics, available on the website. Since War Witch is in game, and has been for awhile, is there a chance we can see Apex or Horus make an appearence? Apex would be easy to do, I believe his costume is entirely recreatable in the game currently, and he would also be a nod to those of us who collected all of the old comics. Even if he's just a random NPC in a building like Architect Entertainment or at City Hall, it would be nice to see an ingame representation.
Thanks! -
Not for sure, but some attacks would require new animations if used with weapons. I can think of a couple blasts that are two hand based, unless the emination point is moved to the wand head/gun barrel/etc... But again, that might require re-animating.
As for balance issues (redraw), why not simply put a disclaimer when choosing between weapon based blasts and non weapon based blasts that you're adding a disadvantage to PvP and other competitive content by choosing to use a weapon. The hardcore PvPers arn't going to care if thier guy holds a staff or shoots fire out of his hands, but the RP crowd and most other users won't care about a half second delay.
Plus, couldn't they simply use one of thier five costume slots to use a non weapon based animation set if they want to PvP? It's not like they are gimping thier character for life, just 30 seconds between /cc 's. -
Just logged on tonight and none of the people in my global friends list are listed. Don't see any other threads, so I thought I would post and see if I'm the only one.
On Virtue, if that matters. -
Was editing my character's ID this morning, and it started to give me fits when I tried to go up a couple lines and change something. Text started to disappear, so I just Saved and went back in to edit, which normally fixes this problem. I noticed when editing this go around, a large space was at the bottom of my ID card. Finally, when I saved and pulled up how my personal card would appear to others... at the very end of the paragraph was a [b r] which doesn't appear in the editor, nor can it be erased no matter what I do.
Any solutions? Or am I stuck with gibberish at the end of my character's bio? -
Awesome, I'll hold out for a Broadsword Brute then. Didn't mind the idea of a Vigilante Scrapper, but I prefer Fury over Criticals. Thanks!
-
Did a quick search, didn't see anything immediately so if this has been brought up again and again, my apologies.
Is there a reason Brutes don't have access to broadswords? Seems to me like it would be a solid fit, unlike Ice Armor Brutes. Also, with the Rularuu Broadsword model, you could definitely make some evil looking sword users. Lastly, the broadsword seems more of a "brutal" weapon that relies more on strength and less on finesse, unlike Claws and/or Dual Blades.
Was just curious if this was simply something that the devs haven't got around to yet, or if there was a previously stated game reason for why Brutes and Broadswords wouldn't work.
Thanks for your time. -
Is there a way to prevent City of Heroes, when running in windowed mode, to not be resizeable? I mainly play with mouse movement, but even if I use the WASD keyboard layout, when looking around with the mouse, I might occasionally grab a corner of the window and suddenly have a screen 1 inch wide. I do this on a fairly regular basis, which is extremely annoying... and finally decided to ask around if see if anyone knew of a work around.
Thanks in advance! -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but most people at this point asking for a solo-able Task Force wouldn't necessarily be in it simply for the rewards. Maybe the vanity rewards, like a badge, but I don't see most people asking for something like this wanting the exact same loot other people who form a team and run it are getting.
So, why not eliminate the rewards all together? The most you get is an SO of your choice at the end, just like any other difficult story arc. Or not even that, I don't care. The reason I'd want to solo a Task Force or Trial is for the story or the experience of fighting a new, challenging opponent. So while I would love to run Terra Volta, it wouldn't be for a respec. It'd be for the thrill of facing down multiple freakshow and struggling to keep the core safe.
I don't see how it would be hard to dumb down the difficulty of task forces to make a "solo" version, one that had little to no rewards short of finishing the story and collecting a solo version of the badge. If anything, let players see as they finish the solo arc what they would have got if they had done the team version instead. A little enticement for people to take the next step. Most people that are reward minded will, but those of us that are here purely for playing the game and enjoying it's stories will be satisfied.
The reason I support this is simply don't have time to run a Task Force or Trial, even on my weekends. With a family and a full time job, time is precious little. City of Heroes, till this day, still amazes me with zone design, story content and ease of playing. Adding a solo, reward-less version of the task force would simply be more content my higher levels could enjoy without having to sink a huge amount of time in one sitting for a story. And I don't mean I couldn't free up the amount of hours needed to run a task force, I could. But with life's interruptions... screaming kid, chores to be done, biological and what have you... I wouldn't want a bunch of other people waiting on me anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes just so I could complete a story. To me, it would be much easier to tackle it at my own pace - AFK when I need to inside a mission - and still get the full lore experience the game provides.
I'll quit rambling... that's basically how I think - and why I would support - solo task forces should be handled.
