Heya mate, I have a Necro/ Pain now at 50 + all 3 incarnates, and the ride there was a bit up and down. Necro, I think, is a really strong primary, but hits a bit of a patch mid level, until, IIRC, grabbing that first PPP shield.

Basically stick with it, is my advice, you will learn your strengths and weaknesses, how to slot for the future and will get you out of that (for me) false sense of security (almost a tankermindset) that I think can happen with certain MM primaries in their early stages.

I was nearing the end of the very tedious kill 100 Cold Demons - 97 down.

Did someone let off a Judgement power without filling in the required forms in triplicate first again?

I just mapserved, now I can't connect to the DBserver - but other servers seem ok to connect to and it isn't down in the server list - has it died for just me for for everyone?

I think this would be an ace idea. I am aware that somepeople get serious lag in base with a lot of objects in, this may increase that lag, but I would still love to log into my base and see holo-characters.

I don't think a TF should be impossible to complete in the event of one player DCing, no matter how unlikely they will not be able to get back online, so also /signed

I think barrier is the go to one if you are having trouble choosing. Consider rebirth if you have some end issues maybe.

Hi - what SpacePope said about FF - the change will make a massive difference IMO.

I have a Demons/Storm MM, the /storm part is a lot of fun, chaotic and hilarious, and in effect gives you 2 extra pets to play around with. Don't know how it would roll with a Bots/ but I imagine you would be deadly and tough. It does have a lot of knockback, but if you are a conscienciouss teamer you can use the kb effects only when they don't affect your team and take an Epic/Patron to compensate. For example, I tend to not use Hurricane/Tornado so much on teams (until AV or "emergency!!" time) and use the Mu holds a lot more.

/Pain is an awesome secondary, very nice for teams, but yeah, it may not mesh well with bots.

/traps is a very popular secondary for Bots, but I haven't had personal experience so will hold my opinion until I do.

I tend to pretty much only sign up for BAFs with my MMs. If for some reason it swaps to a Lambda I tend to switch toons as, yeah, the acid/grenades part sucks, even with all tier 3 incarnate powers.

Ahhh, I remember Monkey well! Just need a monkey/gorilla mask and all the pieces would be there. How sweet would a team consisting of a Monkey, Tripitaka, Pigsy and Sandy lookalikes be!

Oh another thing that flummoxed me in the first week or so of playing was trying to find the door or get over/round/under that huge wall in Mercy Island. I must have circled that wall a good few times before memorising where the doors are.

Great reading! As I am still new to the game I have quite a clear memory of quite a few of the above posts, and have also picked up some tips and info.

CoH was (and still mostly is) the first MMO i have ever played so the lingo took a while to pick up, but I have also:

Avoided traffic and water so that I wouldn't take damage
Not knowing about the right mouse click thing
Rolling my first alt Goldside, hitting Pocket D then panicking as I couldn't find my way back. For a good long while.
My 2nd toon was an MM and I didn't really understand the concept of drawing aggro. I annoyed quite a few teams.

I have an alien toon who I chose a Magic origin for, as it describes his abilities better than anything else, but these abilities are passed down through a spiritual journey (rather like a native American or original Australian Spirit Walk).

Just out of interest, would you guys class him as a Natural (via training) magic or create a new 'Spirit' or even 'Alien' origin?

This is indeed a great idea! I will definitely be joining this channel to play with, learn from and chat with the other members.

As well as agreeing with all of the above instances, I also keep playing this game for the sheer joy of suddenly getting an idea for a new toon, usually while at work, then thinking about the bio, the powerset, the backstory and completely fleshing out this character in my mind. Then I can rush home, and within 20 - 40 minutes of logging on I willl have created this character I had in my mind and I'm running around in game, super-excited to see what this new build can do.

I'm at work and just read this, now I'm strongly fighting the urge to run home and respec my Demons/Storm to add provoke.

We have whiskers already. Not very good ones, but they do exist, I have them equipped.

The very first thing I did after the patch was fix my non-stripy cat tail and check out the flat feet. Only then did I get into a Lambda with my MM to see what was new.

Oh yeah, I am so behind this idea.

I was having trouble finding these as well, and also felt like a total noob. At least I wasn't alone.
