I'm on the fence on this one. On one side I think it was cheesy/funny/slightly informative. On the other side I think how dorky it makes me feel (after listening to the sniviling skinny hero--he needs to grow a pair).

Oh, you will also be able to choose what Contact hands out your story arc, or create your own Contact in the same manner as you would create a character or a boss.
[/ QUOTE ]
Create new contacts to hand out missions? I wonder if the streets will be lined with these. Seems like potential to have 'too many' contacts.
[/ QUOTE ]
Based on what they've said elsewhere, Mission Architect arcs won't be gotten from a contact on a street, but you go to a special arcade/communications center and talk via a panel of some sort.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not what is implied in the response given. Created in the same way as you'd create a character or boss is what got my attention. -

Super Booster II will be a magic-themed pack that will sit alongside the Cyborg pack very well. It will have costume pieces and other goodies that are themed for both stage magicians as well as your more traditional fantasy mages.

NCsoft is stressing what makes City of Heroes different. First, it's a superhero game, not sword and sorcery. If players are really looking for something different, they can find it here.

Issue 15 will be centered around the Fifth... Anniversary of City of Heroes. [Note: The MMO's 5th anniversary will be April 28, 2009.]

I logged in this morning and was pleasently surprised to see the Holloween Event going on. I only had a few minutes to play before heading off to work so I didn't get a lot of ToT in. But in the 20 or so min I did manage to get about 12-14 costume temps, a couple rocks, and about 6 costume salvage. No Tier 3 that I can recall.
Reading the above posts about the disappointment that all of the new badges can be gotten in a short amount of time, I'm kind of surprised by that. Most people complain it takes too long and they have 100+ alts (exageration). I'll only be badging a few of my toons, but I think the costume salvage is where it's at for me. I can horde those and sell them for mucho dinero later in the year, give them to new alts, offer them as prizes in Costume Contests, etc.
The lack of Tier 3 insp is a bit disappointing, but it's not a game breaker and doesn't effect my game play in the slightest. Would I "like" to have it? Sure. Not a factor in my gaming fun to not having them though.
I look forward to getting home and ToTing!! -
Only problem with that is the same problem we have with custom skins on other weapons...the sound effects don't change. So that chain whip makes a not-so-right sound. I would hope that any future weapon sets get the sound effects linked to the skin chosen.

Good point, didn't think about that. Though I would think they would have used the non-shield bearing hand...

I thought a Shield Bash was out? I saw it in the video. Was I mistaken?
Oh, and Pain Domination looks nice and ebil!!

My issue is the screenshot of the In-game Bio. Mine tend to run long and I have to scroll down to see the whole thing. How can I get it all in one screenshot?
-
What powersets are you talking about? The only power available in the pack is the Self-Destrut temp/perm power. I doubt very seriously they will ever have a powerset via Booster Pack. Temps, yes. Sets, no.

Any upgrade to a system that's 4 years old has to be good!...RIGHT?!?!?

Okay, most of the posts in here have changed my tune.
Now...since the Booster auras are not the same as the regular costume auras in any way...can we have our costume aura AND Booster aura, then?

I'm a sad puppy today...Just found out that they use the same points and can't have both...***goes off to cry in the corner*** -
I love the Cyborg Pack, but was a little disappointed in it not including a Cyborg Chest. Yes, there are a few pieces that can you can use, but I was hoping for a see-thru robotic chest (similar to the Clockwork but prettier).

That's the suggestion I've been making in almost every thread on the topic

I would imagine the jetpacks would act like the jet boots, activate when fly is on and off when fly is off.
I'm happy that they are allowing the Combat Auras at lvl 1. I'm hoping this is the first step to separating the Combat Auras from the regular auras and allowing you to get both.
In reading some of the posts above regarding the GvE cape, I'm not sure I agree with making it available at level 1. It's a "cape" that is available to you when you earn a cape. I don't think you can compare that issue with Combat Auras since Combat Auras are a new feature. With allowing CAs at level one, I think that shows it. I do think they should have the GvE cape available as a shoulder cape though. Not having it as an option there doesn't make sense. -
I enjoyed the WoW advertisement that was promentent on the page

Ok, we know.
We should have had said something more by now, about Issue 13. But like all great architectural endeavors, Issue 13 is taking on a life of its own and were not quite ready to spill forth all the information.
So, just a quick note to say thanks for your patience, even though we know you may not really be patient. Trust us, its coming; were working on it and theres more great stuff coming (like you havent heard that before, but really, we mean it!)
Thanks!

Dear Positron,
Good afternoon. Thank you for responding to our questions for more information about Issue 13.
And on a side note. Please fix the store so that I can purchase Booster Packs for other players as gifts. I'd like to purchase 10 or so of these for my friends that also play. Plus I'd like to give you my money to help with the development of my favorite game. However, since I only have 1 account and I can't very well purchase 10 Cyborg Packs for 1 account then I guess that I'll have to keep the money that I would have liked to have given to your company.
P.S. Rocket Pack costume items please.
Thank You.

Dear Peregrine Falcon,
Thank you for your feedback. We would LOVE to come up with a way for players to "gift" our Super Boosters to other players. The real problem with this lies in credit card fraud. It may seem like a simple problem, but it's really very complex. Once we have a workable solution that Billing and Customer Service can sign off on, we will allow players to gift Microtransactions post haste.
Yes, yes, Rocket Packs are on Sexy Jay's todo list, I just am not exactly clear on when they will be done.
Hope this clears things up for you a little bit.
[/ QUOTE ]
Seems like it would be simple enough...instead of the Booster Pack automatically being tagged to the account, it just gives the activation code. That way, the player can use the code or give it away as a gift, or even as a Costume Contest award.
I know the whole "CC Fraud" part would be more complicated, but maybe putting a 24-48 hour delay to claim any codes after the first one could be implemented. That gives the CC company time to notify the card holder. Or maybe put instructions on the site how to request from the CC companies to allow the transations to go through. That would be similar to informing them you will be traveling out of the country and to allow transactions in certain areas (not flagging for possible fraud). -
As cool as that is, I couldn't imagine trying to play on, what, a 3" screen". Geez...unplug sometimes
-
Does this also mean that all accounts will have a base 12 character slots available? So, Mr Joe Snuffy buys CoH at the store for $10, he gets CoH and CoV with 12 slots, or just the base 8 for heroe box set only? I assume the base is going up to 12...just want to clarify...

Are you able to let us know what the number is for the server cap? Or would you have to kill us if you told us?
I doubt very seriously they would give out free tokens so people could move toons during this period. They are taking every reasonable step they can to accomodate the player base. They raised the server cap and issued warnings that your server "may" get capped. Just keep trying to log in, you sould get in within a few minutes. If it helps, think of it as a sale with no rainchecks
[/ QUOTE ]
Why does knowing the exact number the cap is set at matter? I've seen people ask for this before, and it still boggles my mind. You'll never know the exact number of people that are on at a given time, because there will always be more that are hidden.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't care how many people are on at one time. I'm asking what the "cap" is. If the people complaining that their server is locked out, or they are getting mass amounts of lag, it may help to understand that it's because x number of people are on. If that confuses you I'm sorry. -

What do you think a fair price would be? Equivalent to 2 years paid time? 3 years? 4? What if, due to the economy or price of oil, or alien invasion (for real), CoX was shut down 2 months after you paid it? Also, that would be great for them for the front end, but leave the coffers rather dry in the back end. So you'd likely see one or two issues with a lot of content and then some very empty issues after that...

or the ability to buy time (and thus vet rewards) in advance. If I could preorder game time the Devs would instantly make about 27 months worth of cash from me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not a big fan of this ideaology. Vet rewards are supposed to be for "played time" not Payed time. Would I be upset if they changed it? Not really. I do yearly prepays so that just means I'd get them sooner too. The only problem is they'd have to have 12+ months vet rewards ahead of the current time in game. They sometimes struggle to get out a decent reward, if any. I'd hate to see what they'd be if they had to rush getting 12 months worth out at one time. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok as the game sees it ALL Veteran Powers are TEMPORARY Powers. Don't believe it? Do a flashback mission or Taskforce with NO Temp Powers. You will not have access to any of them! They are NOT listed with your Temporary Powers like the Ouroboros Portal is they are list under INHERENT yet the Portal is still useable and your INHERENT aren't?
[/ QUOTE ]
They are considered Temp powers because that's how they were introduced into the game, with timers or number of uses before they expire and disappear. Vet "temp powers" are those temp powers with the timer removed. They are still concidered "temp" but with no expiration.

Also the Vet pet Still does not buff the TEAM as it says it does right in the Vet rewards section of this website.

They were originally designed to give a single target buff, but could not get that to work properly. We then modified them to give group buffs. During testing, Dark Watcher wrote some code that fixed the initial problem, so we decided to switch them back to single target buffs. Unfortunately, there was a mis-communication at this point, and the text did not get updated in all points correctly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now please get over the whole "they are broken! My team isn't buffed" rant and enjoy the self buff.
