  1. I see no need for a "rep" system, so I ignore it. Spend enough time on the boards and you develop your own reputation and recognize others for their good/bad advice.

    Your Blasters...

I don't know how many blasters I deleated before I finally ended up sticking with one (and then a second). I started 5 years ago on a tank. Moved to a scrapper. Then a controller. I finally decided to stick it out and make a blaster. I found making a theme and background for her made me more interested than just having a quick toon. My Fire/Fire/Fire was a beast. Of course I face-planted alot (what blaster doesn't?). But I was determined to push through those lower levels. I then made an Energy Blast/Mental Manipulation blaster. Again, a theme and backstory really helped me connect with the character. I think I was also driven by a desire to get 1 lvl 50 for each AT. I'm still working on that goal
  3. I always like waiting to try out the new shinies when they come out rather than get my hopes up or down (depending on your outlook). There will be a Beta, testers will do their thing, Devs will adjust what they feel is right, and we get what we get. Changes may occur at some point, but like I said, I like to use the "wait and see" method. I find myself disappointed much less.

    About Time

Frankly, I'd be worried if they just did it all willy-nilly. Security measures are for our safety, and if they aren't a pain in the ars then they probably aren't worth squat. Thankfully, NCSoft seems to take it seriously.

    On the upside...you're back now
  6. I would imagine the pistol set will be a cross between the Gunslinger attacks and AR set. As for Pistol melee...the closest I would think would be a butt stroke.

Demon Summoning sounds cool and I might actually roll a MM. Whips? Sounds sweet!

    What Bank?

Hidden doors and the Perez maze are reasons I REALLY enjoy my Mission Teleporter power!

  9. Get a new rig? I know everything appeared all bright and shinny the day I got my new gaming rig. Plus I know they upgraded a while back, so depending on when you left vs now, that could be it.

  11. I got a 29.5 scrapper all the way to 30!

    Other things accomplished:
    1. aquired internet card (finally) so I can have internet access while deployed to Kuwait

    2. downloaded all of the patches since I last played (including I15). That only took about 10 hours

    3. finally able to skype with my family, including my wife and daughter, which is more rewarding than getting another few 50's!

I'm just happy I have internet now. The other options they provide where I'm at sucks! Having to carry your computer 1/2 a mile to sit directly under a WiFi spot is rediculous! But if you didn't, you'd get booted off as the bandwidth is crap. I'm glad everyone else did so good though
  12. Considering I've played most of the sets described in the OP's team makeup, I have a few thoughts...

The WP tank, without taunt or any AoE's definately bit off more than he could chew. Not that he couldn't SURVIVE the whole room of aggro, but he wouldn't be able to maintain aggro with strictly an aura and Gauntlet. (I've run tanks with and without Taunt...there is no substitute for Taunt as an aggro manager).

Without a hard aggro tool like Taunt, the fire blasters were stealing the aggro, causing them to faceplant. There threat level probably shot through the roof. I have a 50 fire blaster and remember many times how I stole all aggro from tanks on the team.

I also have a 50 grav/storm controller. Once he starts immobing/holding, he also quickly steals aggro. As someone stated above, and I find to be true, baddies don't like to be pushed/pulled/held/etc. They make a B-line right for you.

Then I've played a FF Defender. Force Bubble came in handy in the OP's instance as an oh Sh** reaction. The OP accomplished what the tank could not by getting the baddies all in one spot.

Any other team would have apprecieated this. The blasters can now take advantage of their AoE's, the controller can get more baddies under his/her AoE immob's and getting Containment, and the tank should have appreciated that they were all in one spot to take advantage of RttC.

Instead, the tank got mad that the defender tanked better than he did and kicked the Defender. Overreaction? Yes. Had the Force Bubble negatively impacted the outcome, then the arguement would go to the tank. Instead, it shows the immaturity of the tank.

Using my grav/storm controller, I made an Ice tank very mad because I could tank better than him. He got mad and quit. Was it my fault he would attract too many enemies that his aggro cap could handle, thereby wiping most of the team? No. I simply did my thing showing "herding" was not necessary and the tank should now his limits (limits regarding team safety, not his survivability, which are two seperate things).

I definately side with the OP on this. The only thing I would say is maybe the he shouldn't have antagonized the tank (also the team leader) right off the bat. Maybe next time just explain why you are doing what you are doing. If the tank (or next offender) still acts stupidly, just say "ok", stop whatever you are doing, quit the team, and watch the team wipe. Then just send private tells to the rest of the team and see if they want to start another team minus the leader...

    Dev Digest ?

I've noticed there have been no new posts from the Devs, or Community Reps in the Dev Digest and Community Digest threads since 27 July. Are they being quiet or has the new forums eaten their posts from those threads? I usually try and go their first in case they are answering some random question and I can go right to it. Anyone know?
  14. Yes, I liked being able to see the number of new posts in a thread before going to it. Just started poking around, but otherwise looks good.
  15. As long as my work server doesn't block the new forums I don't care where the forums are..old or new.
  16. Welcome to the Game!

So...what happened to the first 5 Illusions?
  17. Isn't the -def applied to your target? I doubt that would go into a defensive powerset. If it does, it would only except the bonus that the power allows (ex, if it accepts Def, End, and Dam enhancements, your Enzyme Exposure would only grant the End portion of it's bonuses. You would effectively be wasting 2 out of 3 enhances (the -def and -tohit)).

So forget farming. I was teaching a friend how to play dark, and I was on a rad. We started a level 8 group with 3 scrappers, 1 troller, 1 dark 1 rad defender. We went into an AE mission full of big spawns of level 9 Council.

Scrapper agro'd early and wiped the team while dark was zoning in and rad was afk. Dark and rad cleaned the spawn, went up a floor and cleaned out 2 more spawns while the rest of the team got lost on floor one and died repeatedly. 2 defenders were shredding full spawns of +1's (sitting safely in a crowd of ~14 council at a time and tearing into them with sands of mu) at level 8 while 3 scrappers and a controller were getting torn up below. That's *hardly* the most amazing example I can give you, but it is a recent one.

So...you left your teammates below dying while you and your buddy went on? Great teamwork!!
  19. Guess I can throw my 2 inf in…
Every player in this game has their own idea of what is fun for them. If you had expectations of some marvelous end-game content once you hit 50, I’m sorry you were misinformed. Co* doesn’t work like that. I, for one, am glad they don’t have this “glorious end-game content” that people seek. It sounds like that “perfect solution” would become a case of the grass being greener on the other side of the fence. Hearing WoW converts posting their experiences with “end-game content” makes me shudder! I don’t want to grind my low level toons so my lvl 50’s can grind better! The Devs we have put out content on a semi-regular basis. Sure, there are arguments as to how much/little content that is, but does it really matter? No matter how much content they release, the player base would blow through it in a day and be asking for more in 2 days. AE was supposed to help with this problem, but everyone now knows the drawback to that.

I have 6(ish) level 50 toons. All are shelved pretty quickly once they ding 50 except for the occasional TF/SF. The fun I have in this game is making alts and getting to 50 using different powersets. With different powersets come different strategies. With different strategies comes a different play experience. Unless you take the time and hit every contact, do every TF, etc (which is near impossible, or at least used to be before they added the no xp option), you can make a toon and select different contacts as your last toon, thereby experiencing new content. If you like making back stories for your toon, use that to decide what contacts to take. An example, my scrapper was kidnapped by Knives of Artemis, brainwashed, trained, and forced to work for them. Now, freed from her captors and reconditioned, she selects missions that have Knives in them, for revenge. Doing this just makes the game a bit fresh each time I play.

Each and every player has to find what makes the game fun for them. If it’s not fun, then maybe it’s time to move on. You can try doing what others and/or I suggest and see if that helps you, or you can leave and go to a game that you think can hold your interest. I suggest that if you are going to CO, you not hold it to such a high expectation as you did CoX. Considering that most of the same developers from CoX are doing CO, it has Zero time on the shelves and (from what I hear) crappy graphics, you may be in for a letdown. I hope you find a place that suits you.

Oh, and the quote in my sig has never been more appropriate!
  20. I had the most fun ever playing my grav/storm controller. After you get all the good powers, the controlled chaos was beautiful!
  21. Wouldn't an "earth spirit" be concidered magic?? Unless...you captured an earth spirit and scientically extracted/engineered the magical energies.

    Just sayin'

    Oh, make both!!

Oh, and I'm sure others will say to post this in the AT threads.
  22. When there are a lot of toons around, the amount of graphics can affect other low end computers. It can cause lag or boot people entirely.

  24. I've won several CC with varying degrees of Original, generic sets, and tributes. My biggest winner is probably my Mary the Martian (Marvin's sister). Funny thing is, I only pull her out for a CC. Never play her...

All the CC's I've won, though, were in CC's that I did not know the people/SG holding it. I was never asked to join a SG, and have generally had a decent experience with CC's. Of course I've lost many, but I chalk it up to whatever the CC judges want I didn't give them.
  25. Well, you can't share inspirations and trade items between each other, doubt xp could.
