Hi Guys
I have a lvl 50 SS/WP brute I am enjoying immensley at the moment. However I feel I am lacking in knowledge when it comes to slotting etc to get the best from him and squeeze out every last drop of power and defence that I can get without running to the considerable expense of Purple and PVP IO's. Below is my build and if anyone can offer any advice it would be greatly appreciated!
I know there are some powers where I currently have SO's slotted where they can be changed to IO's (work in progress) but otherwise any advice would be great!
Thankies

Hi guys
I am enjoying stomping round the rogue isles with my brute and although he is pretty tough I am looking for advice on making just that little more godly! Can anyone out there advise on builds/enhancement sets to use to squeeze out every ounce of toughness from him?
I haven't installed mids yet so can't post my build at the mo but if needed should be able to post over the weekend. In a nutshell I took everything but taunt and handclap - I also have tough n weave and no patron pools!!
Thankies! -
It would be nice if on Training Room you could level your character at will and as has been said buy all enhancements for 1inf. This would allow people who arent sure about either how a character will play at high level, or want to see how certain slotting will work in-game without having to spend a fortune in both time and inf only to find the alt isnt as much fun as hoped for, or the recipes bought arent working out as expected.
I know the test server is more for the powers that be to test new patches etc, but where is the harm in letting people do their own testing there too! -
I too suffered the Croatoa mass-dc and subsequent inability to log that alt back in! After getting over the heartache of not only not getting all the badges, but losing the 2 I had already gained was then added to when I eventually got back in and after some ToT fun joined another event in IP...
Defeated all 4 banners, got badges, defeated GM only to find I couldn't accept reward and actually only had one badge for Fiend banner.
After several tears and petitions I logged in a couple of hours later did the event for a third time in the Hollows, very little lag and got all 6 badges.
It took some doing but in the end it was worth it and it was a nicely enjoyable different event. Much as some people complain it isnt what they would like or how it could have been done differently it has got the benefit of getting people working together for a new goal.
Good work devs! -
Is there any particular reason why after the full event and defeating all banners and Aspect of Mystic Banner I only got Dark Fiend badge???
So many petitions sent lol -
I still play my Tank from time to time - the main reason I dont is that there isnt much I haven't seen Hero side whereas Villainy is still shiny and new to a degree with SF's etc to have a go at.
I am hoping Going Rogue wil provide a new lease of life and more to enjoy for an alt I do still get a lot of fun out of. I think part of what puts me off starting again is the sheer amount of inf I have spent partially IO'ing one alt - i dont know if I could bear to do that again!! -
I have always played the game blue-side since that is where I started and was always where I felt most comfortable so I had a main alt (Fire/Fire Tanker) who I decided to kit out with IO's etc. This progressed well until I felt the pull of Villainy...
Now I have a lvl 50 SS/WP Brute and a lvl 39 Shield/Elec Brute who are great to play and most of my last 6 months have been spent roaming around the Rogue Isles.
Therefore, my quandry is - should I carry on IO'ing my Tanker and make her as good as she can be, or should I start anew on a Brute? It seems I can have one damn good alt, or two pretty good ones.
Home and work commitments mean I dont play any where near as often as I would like (a few hours a week on average) so the gain of inf is quite slow so the idea of 'just do both' would take forever!
Any advice on which option to take would be greatly appreciated! -
Quote:But has you read a few letters on you would have noticed the brackets containing further information.I'm sorry, OP.
After you said farming didn't exist until IO's and Recipes, I was unable to take your post seriously. Do some homework before posting.
I did not say it did not exist, the intimation was that it was not in as greater prevalence as it is not, or certainly not as noticeable as is it now unless you knew where to seek it out.
I will do my homework as soon as you learn to read -
After much time musing to myself and generally pondering the above I have decided it is time to ask the question...
Are farming and PL'ing merely a by-product of the way the game has changed or is it engineered carefully by the Devs for some reason as yet inknown?
My reasons for wondering this are pretty simple. I do not want this to descend into a 'farming/pl'ing is bad vs good' debate, nor turn into a flame-fest of epic proportions - it is merely a question raised when I couldnt sleep last night
Farming didn't exist (in any great way) until IOs and Auction House appeared. As soon as costume part recipes came onto the market and started costing 50million inf+ to buy the need for more inf arose and farming became mroe prevalent. then with the introduction of Purple Enhancements costing anywhere up to 150mil inf each this requirement grew again and farming really came to the forefront of the game as people wanted to make there character then best they could do. Next came PVP enhancements costing (iirc) up to about 500mil inf each. No casual player could even hope to spec out their character(s) with a few sets of these without farming influence/infamy. This has all become easier with AE and with the SSK system coming in i16 will be easier outside of AE too.
In the same way in a real world economy, when prices for things that people want or feel they need gets too high then there are people who will turn to alternate methods of getting enough cash to buy - it is the same in CoX - people dont have enough inf to fully kit out a character they will farm to get what they need.
Therefore this could have been prevented or the perceived need lessened in a few ways which on the surface seem simple enough. Introduce a price cap in AH/BM. Set it so nothing can cost more than 10mil. Yes it will mean that 'everyone' can afford high end enhancements which wasnt necessarily the Devs intention, but as everyone wants these anyway and a lot of people farm to be able to afford them, reducing the price will have the same end result - people will be able to afford them but won't have to farm - this would hopefully mean less people will feel the need to do AE farms and more people will be back to normal game content or will use AE for its true purpose -playing individually generated content and arcs.
PL'ing is slightly different, however it feels (from a personal viewpoint) that a lot fo the newer content (RWZ revamp, Cimerora and new TF's) is all higher level - 35+. Again personally, after a few years in game I do find a lot of the lower level content tedious and look forward to getting to lvl 20 (stamina), lvl 22 (SO's) and lvl 35+ (RWZ etc) and have no qualms in speeding through the lower levels to content I enjoy. Everything the Devs have done so far to prevent PL'ing or farming seems to have been half-hearted and has made no difference at all. Are the Devs really powerless to stop it and are just letting it ride, or are they not doing anything much to stop it because it was secretly intended to occur.
Remember, I have no good, bad or indiffernet views on PL and farming - people pay their money and should be allowed to play how they like as long as it doesnt adversley affect others or break the EULA - I just wanted to post this before it keeps me awake tonight -
Lots of smaller prizes so more participants get chance to win!
We need more Damz competitions!!! -
It too played a few Brutes and never found much in the way of enjoyment following my tanking hero-side. That was, however, until I went for SS/WP Brute and found it great fun to play. Perhaps it helped that he was thematically fun but so far SS/WP is my favourite brute combo!
-
Yes you can do that (as I have done) but be aware that as you have a crab build - if you try to do a different cossie for your Bane it will still be stuck with Crab Backpack
-
I would definitely be up for this depending when it is. Either Brute or NW (if she gets the levels before then) will be reporting for duty!
-
Well isn't that just the stupidest idea of the year lol! Now I have a Bane with crabby legs sticking out of his head
-
Hi Guys
I have carefully created my dual build SoA - first build being Crab, 2nd I want to have as Bane. Currently at lvl 27 I am finding Bane great to play but sadly when I created a 2nd cossie for the bane the Crab backpack will not take the hint and leave - even after setting the relevant field to 'None' in the tailor.
As i created crab first am I stuck with the backpack now???
Thanks -
Tis a shock to hear this news - who would ever have expected Mothers Love to hang up her cape
But at least you can be assured of a warm welcome when you return - as without doubt the most respected EU player in Paragon City it would be well earned! -
Thanks for advice guys I will have a look at some adjustment of enhancements and see where it gets me - then when I have some more inf frankenslotting may be the way forward
-
Are there any lower cost IOs that improve either endred or endmod?
Thx -
I have a lvl 47 SS/WP Brute - recently upgraded to lvl 50 SO enhancements. (Yes I know IO sets are the way forward but I have neither the inf nor time online to afford them).
I have taken all the WP powers available except Res, Tough, Weave and Combat Jumping. When fighting with all toggles running (7 iirc) my health bar refuses to budge but my endurance drops faster than a blaster in an AV convention.
I have Stamina and WPs End option both 3 slotted with endmod. I also have endred in most of my shields that require it. I am still struggling badly for endurance. Any ideas gratefully received. Some IO purchasing can be done btw... -
I have a SS/WP Brute around that magical Patron Power level. Currently I have taken Soul Mastery as I like the Soul Tentacles. However from a solo/team PvE build am I better with Soul Mastery or Mu Mastery?
Thanks -
I would happily accept a Windows Mobile CoX App too lol
-
That would be truly awesome!!! Although I would be sacked within hours for doing now work lol
-
Browsing the app store as I often do I came across the WoW App - allowing users to view they characters, guilds, powers etcetc and thought how amazing that would be to have for my CoX account.
Any chance of such a thing happening for us?? -
Nope - MA is 'Fasta-50' not 'Insta-50' - it is an easy mistake to make
