people deciding the order is inherently flawed.
imagine if hot heals was captain. would you really ever ever ever give him first pick? do you think kat would? or how about if Galactor or Divine was a captain, would i actually give him first pick? i don't think so.
a council deciding draft orders is dumb.
firstly because win-loss ratios don't tell you much (hypothetically, going against team bad is just gonna boost everyone's points, so in that first round, you're better served by not going against them. so you would end up deciding draft picks based off of K-D ratios determined by who you fight in the first few weeks.)
secondly, statements of team skill can be greatly exaggerated and subjective (example: Dex's team can say they have Elf Stalker, which is akin to having a 46 ice/rad; hence gaining quite a few points in the "i'm bad gimme first pick draft league", when their d6 is pretty damn solid).
Trust the ******* RNG; it's f fair.
either way it is all said and done and as much as I like to argue even I hear the sound of the whip on Mr. Ed's corpse. -

this stuff is funny coming from someone who was part of the renegades; the group that practically invented in-system tactical thought in the villain ladder....
first season I placed people when folks lost numbers. I caught hell for it from ajax and silent method but it was for balance. Some teams took it upon themselves to find replacements come to me and say "hey I can get so and so" and I would ping the other captains and most would agree. The goal and spirit was to stay competitvie among teams. Even ajax agreed on that. When Slient sent me a tell saying I am adding Tanzie to my team I told him no. His team was full of vet pvpers and if tanzie wanted to be a sub I would find a team that needed him.
Second season we just ran a shorter sign up and turn around on draft so no fillers were needed and adjusted for team sizes.
Everyone always asked me why I never was a captain or played in the leauge. I told them "because i have to make decsisions that affect the out come of the league." Season two Rox, who was in OS at the time, was pissed at me because he was 7th pick round one. I told him it was all random.
even so...the second draft order should have been needs most first pick. You have a team that says they don't even need to participate suddenly wanting to, and getting a better pick order than other teams with fewer than 8 d6 players? It may be all random, but it looks very biased.
and I was in renegades for the last iteration of a ladder not the villian ladder and say what you want about spec he never did things out of spite. -

Other teams had their sights set on other people. The notion that they would suddenly toss out any interests in their original picks to take Fates, who they hardly know, is ridiculous. -

The drama was about Peril being on a team and handling the draft. There was an accusation that some things happened and that he was guilty of doing things to favor his team. He is in charge of the draft because we had no other neutral PVPEC rep to do it. We will indeed handle the draft differently in the future so there is no risk of fairness being questioned. Yes it is. Basically the participation numbers are the old test ladder and the Tpvpl all wrapped up in one big event. Ty for the kudos, we were not looking for them though, just here to have fun. -

You're developing a conspiracy where there is none. I went over it extensively with Rick. I initially was going to place people on teams based on need, no draft. The other captains didn't like that idea and therefore didn't allow me to do it.
I didn't think we needed players. Silit felt otherwise. Our d6 activity isn't quite up to snuff.
the information that that would not happen was not going to happen was not given to us..all along we heard "no problem"

Other than the fact you told Fates, Keenon and Rick that they would be placed on Rick's team. That would be the reason he signed up in the first place because he was told he was supposed to...also you stated U2BG didn't need any d6 players, so why participate in the draft at all?
Silit says he doesn't want to "hold anyone prisoner" but why pick him at all if he knew he really only wanted to play on another team? -

First off, rules not being bent to accommodate your own team isn't evidence of bias.
Second, U2BG picked 4th, not third - and your team picked 5th, not last.
Third, I didn't hear about Fates from Peril. He was surprised that I knew at all. As for selectivity, every other captain save for Kat knew that Fates was in the draft. Atop that, even if Peril was the one who told me it wouldn't matter. True identities of draft picks aren't classified information by any stretch.
Fourth, accusations that drafting order was a conspiracy are flimsy at best.
Fifth, regarding claims that Peril received the information only because he was an event organizer: You yourself know that to be false. Your team was upset with Rick for disclosing the information at all, long before the draft took place.
Sixth, it was well known that the allocation of late signups would most likely be in draft format. When team leaders couldn't agree on a way to determine a fair order, random numbers were assigned.
I'm not going to hold a player on my team against his will. I will discuss trading Fates if he wants to be traded. In the meantime, be constructive. Instead of legitimate efforts to get a trade in the works, contact between leaders has been in the forms of malicious trash talk mixed with flaunting of accomplishments that bear no significance. These have been followed by rushed attempts at forcing a trade by means such as bribery (Yes, Lol. I've been offered influence for the trade), and attempting to guilt trip me into thinking I'm a jailer.
Accusations of foul play and conspiracy are laughable. Forum wars are even more useless. After I talk with Fates I'll talk with you guys.
If Peril did tell you it does matter - he should have told all the captains. Your telling me the three teams who picked before you passed on the fates..and that you picked him soley because you thought he would be a good pick. Why are you so willing to trade him if you picked him for that reason?

This of course is why I talked to the other team leaders about proposing a rule that would disallow PvPEC reps who are on teams from acting as PvPEC reps. Every leader I talked to was in full support of this measure.
The main practical issue that would arise is in lineup submission. We will need to secure the help of PvPEC reps who are not affiliated with teams to assist in the lineup submission process.
Day of the second draft Peril announces U2BG is good on D6 players and does need any more but suddenly placing people was turned to a draft and Rick's team is last to pick (odd that one of the teams with the least amount of d6 players get last pick?) and suddenly U2BG picks up Fates. Peril the PVPEC member has passed that information along to Silit the team captain. U2BG had third pick...pretty sure if the two before that team knew they probably would have picked him up.
I am sure people will think "well your just mad you didn't get fates," and you would miss the point. Fates really only signed up becuaes he was told he could play with Rick's team. If someone was going to not honor that and make it all a draft then he should have told all the captains who fates was. Instead he chose to tell his team only, information that was given to him as a organizer of the event. -
everyone plays was in both TPVPL seasons. Myk lost a chance at first becuase of playing a player who was not that great. He even offered to leave vent and pocket d so as not to cost the win. Myk said "no you showed up and that's what this is for"
The draft is for getting new people into pvp - maybe a ladder comes out of all this who knows and the people who put it togehter put a lot of time into it - a lot of their own time. First season I caugh hell for fillers - placing people on teams that lost a huge number of people to stay competitive. The team that won that year was one that lost people right off the bat but didn't really complain. They had enough new people willing to show up and pvp that they could always field 8 and played everyone.
The people who complained the most I could never understand. They had 5-6 really great pvpers but were too busy feeling cheated to get it together and get their new folks up to par.
my two cents on the FL
First that ck and peril got it going at all is amazing - it's a lot of work trust me I know. People are trying to get pvp going again - beating them up for it silly.
as to having to play a person who only showed up for a match and never fixed thier build.. I would argue a team captian should be allowed a bench rule. Captains go to FL rep and say "player X has not shown up to any practice..or Player X has a 42 stalker as his only toon and refused to let us help pl it...." any number of vaild reasons. FL rep hops on team vent - capt fl rep and player talk it over real quick. FL rep decides if they can bench the player for the matches.
if the same thing happens next week - say player never comes to pracitce again does not respec or listen to captain on build - Capt goes to FL rep and petitions a kick. All three get on vent - FL rep decides whether to kick player - done.
something along those lines so people don't end up getting penalized for flakes. -

Nope they ran the same 2D8/4D6 team for all three matches.
D6 will obviously favor teams with a low D6 turnout if it's kept to 6vs6. The teams that have a lot of active D6ers are going to be penalised because they have to play them all. -

If you change out one of your HP bonuses you could either get 2.5% damage buff or 7.5% recharge. Also, just my impression, for 6 hours of TFs you can get more out of a build... its 6 hours... :P Then you could eek out a bit more damage buff, recharge and other nifty shiz...
