-
i thought, and maybe I am wrong here - that if I plunked down my money for GR months before it was even in beta I got - dual pistols. demon summoning and beta access?? check check and ...wait a second....

Quote:Hey Neuronia and Psoma!
Yeah, I let him keep my account active while I was gone. Despite my "DEVS RUINED PVP!!1!" anger, I figured it wasn't worth denying a friend an IO'd fire/kin. (I've been gone so long, is that still even the farm toon?)
I am planning on reinstalling and taking a look around either tonight or tomorrow. Nice that you can turn off all the stuff in arenas, but yuck yuck yuck that suppression is still in zones. The thing I loved most about CoH pvp was the movement, and it sucks if you don't have that when messing around in zones. And if I'm correct that no HD means no heal decay, which means there still is heal decay in zones, well bleh.
Hopefully I'll be able to get in a game of kickball or something at some point, it would be a shame to come back to visit and not be able to do my favorite part of the game.
hai putz! make ed come back -
Here's hoping you all enjoy it! and if you don't suck it..we don't care.
-
for zones - scorp sheild sucks - if you want to be a buffer - drop stealth set and get leadership (man, tac, veng) - take ghost widow for powerboost, and a good sheild and soul storm. or mako for hiber a good sheild and spirit jaws!!
-
wormhole a group of camping rv scrappers and tanks and watch the profanity fly~!

the last time they looked at pvp we got dr/ts/hd....they made doms uber then nerfed them again....i am scurred if they look at it again.
P.S. fwiw - you have to do a lot of pve to change sides in gr. -
no lie at least three people who posted on this thread have sent the developers fruit baskets...>.>

Quote:BWitched - Which toons in my list would be good PvPers? I also have a level 50 Mind/Rad Controller and a level 30 Fire/MM Blaster.
mind rad is good - your storms are pretty decent if you team well..fire/mm can be good..I mean it's a blaster....and the drain psyche is nice...most any toon can be good at pvp if you know how to play it....if you are looking to roll one toon and just think pvp will be easier because of it you might be let down. Just play what you like and learn to play those toons in zones - -
just going off your list of toons you have some decent pvp toons...
-
mind/fire...sick dom to play
if you want something a lil diff, mind thorns is good as is min nrg.. -
actually 1156 will be replaced sooner 2011 is due q3 of 2011...(hence the name) you still get 40 lanes with x58 and full x16 pcie 2.0 - I have two gtx 470's running x16 in a x58 Gigabyte udr3...I got that and my 930 for under 300 from Frys...and it overclocks on stock voltage to 4.2ghz..>>..

so if I go back to non ultra mode I should get sli then....or crossfire.

Quote:Okay, so you can copy from Nvidia's press-site.
That still does not change what I said.
You said it is not supported Nvidia says it is..you're saying the reason SLI is not supported on COH is because it uses OPENGL 3.x - according to Nvidia 3.x is supported with SLI... -
Quote:short version: Multi-GPU is normally accelerated through the driver itself. This is not a case of CoH not supporting SLI or Crossfire. It is a case of the Driver Vendors not having added Multi-GPU support.
City of Heroes Ultra Mode uses the OpenGL 3.x API for it's graphics, and at the time of launch, was the only commercially launched game to utilize OpenGL 3.x API.
As such, Nvidia, nor AMD, have had their hands on fast-past OpenGL 3.x rendering samples to optimize their drivers for. They haven't had "time" to optimize their drivers for multi-gpu support atop OpenGL 3.x.
There are other titles out there now leveraging the OpenGL 3.x and 4.x API's, such as the Unigine Heaven Benchmark and Valve's Source Engine. Id's Rage will also reportedly be driving an OpenGL 3.x rendering path for the PC release, although it will be using an OpenGL 2.x rendering path for the Xbox 360 / Playstation 3 releases.

Now, it is technically possible for a developer to force a game to sabotage or make better use of various Multi-GPU modes. For example, when Borderlands launched it was deliberately sabotaged at the code level against AMD Crossfire configurations.
During the I17 Beta, CoH has also had a special command line accessed rendering mode enabled on the test server, taking advantage of 2x SLI setups. As of the current test server revision, this command line mode seems to have been pulled.
SLI technology can be enabled for every gaming application, including both OpenGL and Direct3D gaming applications. SLI technology provides either 3D performance scaling using alternate frame rendering (AFR) or split-frame rendering (SFR) or increased visual quality using the SLI Antialiasing mode. In order to provide the optimal 'out-of-box' experience for its customers, NVIDIA has created an extensive set of optimized game profiles which enable SLI scaling automatically. The full list of these SLI-optimized games can be found here.
NVIDIA® SLI technology can be enabled for every gaming application. In addition, to provide the optimal 'out-of-box' experience, NVIDIA has created an extensive set of over 500 custom application profiles which enable SLI technology automatically and optimize scaling performance. These optimized applications, shown below, are enabled automatically with no control panel changes required. -
Why does coh not support or utilize SLI?

If you are going intel Do not go 1156 socket. 1366 X58 chipset/socket and i7 socket 1366. 1156 is a dead socket. The higher end and new 6 core intels will be socket 1366.
if you play coh dual video cards is a waste. It won't use them. -
hai raep would you like to practice with southern comfort?

having to uninstall and re-install is very old wives tale. In the case of moving from say ati to nvidia or installing a brand new motherboard and trying to keep the old hard drive then yes some clean up in necessary..but upgrading versions of nvidia or at or chipset drivers never requires an uninstall and if it does the vendor will do that in the install package. Most of the time all the program is doing is installing new version of the same files, registering new dll's etc..which most of the time why a reboot is required. Only in extreme cases should you ever need to unistall or run a driver cleaner program.

check your catalyst setting and make sure all of the performance sliders are set to application preference. I have the exact same issue when I upgraded to 275.xx drivers for nvidia so I don't think it is a vendor specific problem. I am running 260 gtx in sli and I tweaked some settings in the nvidia control panel and bam I got the errors.
