No way. In WoW, you can easily get kicked from a dungeon group because your "equipment sucks", and you just aren't "good enough" to be in their group.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank god we havent gotten that bad in this game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes we have. I know folks that will not run STF, ITF, or KTF with ta/a fenders, anytype of stormies, or Fire armor tankers. That just a small list. This idea will make it worse. I build my guy the way I want to play and I do not want the build nazis as you call them telling how I did it wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Really? I thought it was Non-StoneArmor Tanks, not just Fire Tanks.
'Course, my Tank is Fire, so it doesn't really matter either way, I just hear more requests for Stone Tanks specificly, rather than Non-Fire Tanks.
  2. BBQ_Pork

    Brutes as a tank

    Freakshow: weak to energy.
Have some energy damage and some minor EndDrain in thier attacks, which /Elec laughs off.
Have 1/2 End when they rez, which Power Sink nueters.

...this is a valid thread because...?

First off it's just another of the weekly "merge servers" threads, secondly there's no constructive criticism going on, thirdly at this point the discussions are completely off-topic. Next!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Fourthly, because by keeping this on the front page, there's a chance that the next "OMG MERGE SERVERS 'Cus everyone on my server knows me now and won't team with me" poster will see it and decide not to post the same BAD IDEA. (Okay, it won't, but there is a chance, isn't there?)

Fifthly, by keeping this on the front page it's easier to grab the Cut-N-Paste reply to put in the inevitable identical thread. I think a Mod should start a "Not Merging the Servers!!" thread consisting exclusively of the Cut-N-Paste answer, lock it and sticky it at the top of the forum.

I think that there should be several new badges for the new direction the game seems to be moving towards.

tattletale- 100 mission arcs were banned that you reported as having inappropriate content, such as a 'kill all mission' or too many enemies of one particular type.

Stool Pigeon- 100 characters or accounts were banned that you reported for 'exploitative' behavior, such as asking for teams in atlas park and levelling faster than you.

Fun Police- 100 characters were banned or genericed after you reported their name as a violation or offensive in some way, or reported anything that they might have let slip as inappropriate content.

Take 'em down a notch- 10 mission arcs that you 0-starred lost hall of fame status.

Rat fink-If you report over 10,000 seperate potential exploits, regardless of their veracity or applicability, you gain the 'rat fink' badge. Each time you report a potential exploit by a member of your own supergroup, you gain credit for 100 reports, as reporting on your friends is the very essence of Rat fink.

Crybaby- Every post that gets moderated at your suggestion adds to this badge, and when you get 1000 posts moderated you gain the crybaby badge. This badge applies to every character on your account.

And, of course, if you get all Six badges you get the 'Judas' Accolade.

Judas- Your outstanding ability to find every hint of negative in any positive situation and your willingness to report every minor offense has given you the Judas accolade. You gain a special power that places 'Judas' in large blinking letters on teamsearch and after every global or broadcast message you transmit. Good luck ever finding a team again, jerk.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Alright, you may have missed a few.

Unimaginative: You've been genericed a character who was a blatant clone of a trademarked character.

Rip-off Artist: You've been genericed at least three times for characters who were clones of trademarked characters.

FFA: You've been petitioned at least five times for posting farms.

Farmer: You've published an arc that was banned for being a farm.

Agricultural Tool: You've published three farms that were banned.

LFT-Spammer: You've broadcasted LFT at least ten times while your LFT flag was turned to "Not Looking".

Golden Gate: You've spent at least 10 hours with your XP turned off and a SK attached to you.

Uber-Noob: Your first L50 was PL'ed for at least 40 of it's levels.

Perma-Noob: Your first 5 L50's fit the description above. You gain a special power that places 'Perma-Noob' in large blinking letters on teamsearch and after every global or broadcast message you transmit. Good luck ever finding a team again, jerk.
  5. It seems like the Superleader rank would make SG renames more feasible, as it would allow one person to be the (figurehead at least) decision-maker of the SG.
Certainly, granting this power would allow a single player to make things unpleasant for the members, but so can kicking, locking enhancement tables, locking permissions, etc. in the wrong hands. If malicious use of SG-renaming is a worry, you have more to worry about in your group.
Bad leadership in a SG suffers consequences though, as the SGleader who mistreats thier members finds themselves in a solo group.
The Superleader who finds himself able to rename the group had better get some group concensus.

    Perhaps:
Superleader chooses to use a rename, and clicks on a short form similar to a /petition or bugreport.
All of the of the Rank 5 characters not on the Superleaders account get a popup upon login: "Superleader has decided to rename the group to NewSG-Name. {Vote Yes}/{Vote No} / {Abstain for another day, vote later}"
Depending on permissions, Ranks 1-4 could be added to the voting process.
If a player has multiple alts in the SG, then only the first alt to login gets the popup.
After X period of time, perhaps equal to the demotion time, the votes are counted.
I'm not sure what threshold would/should be enough. Fifty-One Percent? Two-Thirds? Unanimous?
If the threshold is met, the petition is sent, and you eventually should get your rename.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
My main concern is that it's so conceptually limiting. Yeah, it can be altered some with having the wand being able to be (as part of weapon customization,) say, an athame, crsytal of some sort, etc, but... you're not just limiting this to a Magic origin, but a Magic user who would use wands, as opposed to spells, books, scrolls, or just "innate" magic.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, for the magic-user who just uses "Innate" magic, we have quite a few ranged attack sets where the user waves his hand and tosses out Fire, Ice or Dark Energy for example.

Perhaps, among the wands used, we can include Wand: None, placing an invisible one in it's place, or Wand: Staff could place a thick, gnarly staff protruding from the caster's hand in both directions. Depending on the gestures made by the caster, (and the angle the wand is held at) it could work to represent a staff, although grasped in one hand. The problem would be that the attack beam would be set to project from a point that is X distance from the caster's hand, preventing the staff from being too terribly long.
  7. Alright. I have a few comments about your powersets.

First off: Some people are likely to dislike the set having a wand-waving animation, which means that it's pretty much tied to characters with the Magic origin. I don't have a problem with that, seeing Assault Rifle, Devices, Traps and MM: Robotics.

Secondly, a magic-themed set would be the perfect way to introduce what I've been considering for quite some time: An attack set with different damage types (Fire, Energy, Negative, etc.) scattered throughout. The upside? Never being completely shut down against a foe with a singular, high Damage Resist anagianst a particular damage type. The downsides that keep this balanced? Not being able to stack a lot of the same secondary effect (-ToHit, -Def, etc.), nor able to fully capitolize on a foe with a particular damage type weakness, such as zombies against fire, etc.

Thirdly, I don't think that Attract, as an opposite of Repel, is really currently feasible. It's been discussed in greater detail before, but I have a suggestion. Simply change it to a Hold stacked with TP Foe?

    XP Rate Cap

I see that you have addressed $Inf and Drops, how about Prestige? This being gained the same way and at a comperable rate (whose rate of gain accelerates as XP gain accelerates), this would need to be addressed as well.

wow, great idea, so you want it to take even longer for people to level.

    [/ QUOTE ]
False, with the exception of exploits/bug, this wouldn't come into play.
    [ QUOTE ]
Some of us dont have 12 hours a day to sit and play cox.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Neither do I, and I level just fine without PL'ing/Farming.

    [ QUOTE ]
    (Revised 05/01/09)

Ways to reduce RMT email spam:

    1. [DONE] Block Trial Accounts from sending email at all. (They currently can send at level 10.) Allow them to receive as normal, and to reply to received emails, but not to change any of the addresses on the reply. [Apparently, trials are already completely barred from sending email.]

    [/ QUOTE ]
I look forward to seeing how this affects the rate of incoming spam. If it kills it, then fine. If not, then I will be amused at the thought of my gentle red SPAM button reporting (and leading to the ban of) an account paid for by the RMTbags.
    [ QUOTE ]

    2. Limit each global account to X number of emails per 24-hour period. Set "X" to whatever value allows a generous but reasonable use of email. Exempt SG members sending to SG/Coalition members. Allow all others to apply for exemptions on a case-by-case basis. Exempt all appropriate accounts at implementation. (Obviously, Mods/Devs/GMs/etc. would all be exempted.)

    [/ QUOTE ]
T'would be interesting/amusing when a fellow gets kicked from his SG for spamming them, after paying some PL-4-hire company, then using his account to spam from.

    [ QUOTE ]

    3. Put in filters that allow us to choose whom to accept Email from:

    [x] ALL
[x] Trial Accounts (#1 would make this superfluous)
    [x] Friends List
    [x] Global Friends List

Supergroup/Coalition and Game-related emails would not be blocked. Friends and Global Friends lists refer to the recipient's lists, not the sender's.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I still like this idea, even though I hope (and suspect) that #1 pretty much kills RMTmail.

    [ QUOTE ]

    4. For extra credit, put SPAM ignore on its own list, thus restoring the functionality of our ignore list.

    5. For Super Mega Extra Bonus Points, when an account is banned as a spammer, automatically delete ALL emails from that account, Server-wide.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I still like these.

    [/ QUOTE ]
  11. Playing on a low population server is it's own reward.
I like not being greyed out during events.
I like soloing without pop-up spam.
I like not having laggy zones.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
The problem is that this creates a place where the Vets have all leveled out of the newbie zones right off the bat. This leaves truly new players with no veteran players to learn from in the early levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    This.

It's no coincidence that the EAT's and VEAT's both have team-oriented powers. (The Kheld's bonuses from teaming with non-Khelds and the SoA's having clones of the Leadership pool.)
  13. Twenty-Four pages of posts so that one unfortunately incorrect fellow could be informed of the reasons why Server Consolidation is a BAD IDEA.

Meet you all here in 2-3 days for the next incorrect fellow to post this very same BAD IDEA?
  14. [ QUOTE ]
They don't need to expand capacity. People need to remember that there are 11 servers, and not just Freedom.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If only one acts a certain way, it's the exception, not the rule.
  15. The Anti-Farming and Anti-PL'ing sentiments have been pretty well covered in other threads. So let's get onto this Improved LFT/LFM Menu.

    What I would suggest:
*Keep the Not Accepting Invites option. Working as Intended. Clicking this option would unclick all others.
*Have options of Looking for Arena, Zone PvP, TF's, Missions, AE and Street Hunting. These would not be exclusive of each other, so you could have multiples checked.
*Have Not Looking for Team remain? Probably, but setting this option would unclick the others above.
*Remove Looking for Any. Too Vague and rarely true.

Create a LFM form for team leaders? Sure.

*Have the search menu (by default) not show people who are already on teams, with the exception of team leaders.
*Have Team Leaders show up on the search menu with a star by thier names, and a number showing the size of thier current team.
Example: HeroGuy----- *5 is leading a 5-person team.
*Have People on TF's (or otherwise unable to recruit new players) not show up on the search, as a default.

And somehow encourage people to actually set thier dang LFT flags, rather than stay "Not Looking For Team" while spamming "Blah Blah LFT!!" over Broadcast.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Y'know what I think we should get for a costume at 50?

A soundtrack. Like, a power that you can activate maybe once half an hour, just so it doesn't get furiously aggrivating, and maybe on zoning like the Fortunes do. That way, you enter a mission and your theme music plays.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Or a summonable henchman pet that does nothing but carry a boombox on his shoulder, play your themesong and maybe snap his fingers? Just give him the same HP as the buff pets and he will be a VERY temporary power.

now, my question is, at levels less than 10 are you really going to use the tailor rather than just re-roll?

You don't even need to Pocket D porter, take the tram over to King's Row and use the entrance there. It's one the way to the police station and it's easy enough to get there without engaging any mobs.

[/ QUOTE ]If you're heading to KR, you can use the KR->IP gate and be only a couple blocks (in a straight line) to a Tailor shop. Just dodge a couple of Family spawns and you're there. For an ultra-lowbie it's quicker than running to the far end of Steel.

L50 (red-side) gets you a badge, three enhancement slots and employment opportunity as a henchman.

    Not bad.
This would be in addition to the other costume auras available at L40, I'm guessing?

    I could go for that.

[/ QUOTE ]Level 30, but it sounds good to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ah yes, it's L30? I couldn't remember, since auras do me no good.
Almost every character I have has toggles, so I don't see the auras anyway. I've given up on auras and just do the mission because it's a mission.
