You never saw the original graphics for Stone Armor, then. -

Because it makes the whole system easier. Some sets can have as many as 240 enhancements in it (a 6 enhancement set that ranges from 10-50). With the Star system, there would just be 6.

Interesting. Currently, let's say that I have 5 out of 6 pieces of a set and want to get that last set bonus. I usually slot the Proc (if there is one) last.
Instead of having to bid for one L21 Proc, one L22 Proc, one L23 Proc, etc. until I either get one (and quickly cancel all my other bids!) or run out of $Inf and Market slots, I could simply bid using one Market slot. -
On at least one server the name Rouge Angle of Satin is taken.

I tried to create a mission (mission#3 in my newest arc), and completely bumbled it.
The idea was that you would finish an unsuccessful kidnapping by kidnapping the two civilians "escort to door" and rescue the minion ("grab the ally") that the contact had sent to do the job. Upon freeing the minion, who would fight alongside you, a Named Boss hero would show up (Ambush spawned by completing objective) to fight you. Named Boss would be accompanied by a few of the mission's native foes.
Unfortunately, upon freeing the minion from the mission's native foes (Security Guard), he flees for the door. "Oh well", I think, "No big deal. Makes sense for a villain to save his own skin, but I'll fix that later. I'll wait for the BossGuy and his Security Guard escort to show up in 5...4...OUCH!!!!"
I get plastered by a group of 4-5 identical Custom Critter Bosses. It's Bossguy multiplied by setting the ambush to Hard.
What's a better way to do this?
Should I have the Minion AI set to Follow, then change the ambush to "Defeat Boss and Guards: triggered by Free the Ally"?
Is there a way to have the BossGuy show up as only one foe, regardless of teamsize, but perhaps have an escort, similar to robbing the bank in a Mayhem mission?
Defeating BossGuy wouldn't be critical to mission completion either way.
Required Mission Objectives would be "Kidnap 2 civilians, Rescue Minion". -

How many missions/arcs show up if you type "Hardcase" in the AE search? -

Farming isn't done by fire/kins, farming is done by various level 8 characters who skipped all their toggles.
[/ QUOTE ]
But why would I want Temporay Invulnerability? I want to be Invulnerable ALL THE TIME LOL.
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps everyone who skips Temporary Invulnerability is remembering Gauntlet...
"Valkyrie now has Temporary Invulnerability." Watch in horror as your hit points suddenly count down twice as fast while the power is running...
[/ QUOTE ]
I am embarassed to admit that I have a friend who, early in his CoH career, skipped Temp.Invuln on his Invuln/SS Tank because he thought it was a short-term, clicky-type buff. Eventually he read the actual power description.
At the time, Unyielding was "Unyielding Stance".
I wonder how many people who skip toggles think that toggles are short-term clicky-type buffs. -

Oh, thank you.
For a second there, I read it as "cat feces" though, and did not want it to explode into hundreds of pieces overhead and drift down. -

Forget going teal, I want Going Macaroni and Cheese. The expansion box comes with a free bowl of the stuff!
[/ QUOTE ]
I would be quite interested in an expansion box that came with a free package of Mac-n-cheese. It would be unique enough to get quite a bit of publicity for CoH, and a fair number would buy it just to hoard for future sale.
Heck, there are probably people still holding onto cans of Billy Beer or Crystal Pepsi. -

1) Prep for the Respec. Grab a notepad and head over to Mid's character creator, or to the Paragonwiki at "Cohtitan" in my sig, or just log on and hit "powers" on your power tray to get a list of the powers in the set.
Ingame, you can type the name of a power in brackets like this: [Rain of Fire] and then click on the word [Rain of Fire] to get a popup that tells you exactly what the power does, down to the numbers.
2) Write out the power choices you intend to make.
This is important, lest you forget something like a travel power that you wanted.
3) Either type the slash command /respec or visit Jack Wolfe inside City Hall in Galaxy City. If neither of those work, try clicking on "badges" on your compass bar and selecting "veteran badges", one of those may give you the option to claim a respec. Then try again.
If none of those work, level to at least L24, then try out the Respec Trial where you can earn a respec. It takes some time (and a team!) to complete and has a chance of failure. But if a reasonable challenge is enjoyable, then it's fairly fun.
Or........................
Go to a trainer and click on "train secondary build". You can have a second build and it's like having to make all your picks from L1 to your current level. Warning: It doesn't come with enhancements in your powers, so you may want to have a bit of cash onhand if the second build is what you want to play. $Inf is really easy to earn in this game (sell your drops at the Market), to the point that any character can be monetarily self-sufficient. No "Sugar-Daddies" needed here!
And Welcome Back! -

The front page is ruled by Dev Choice, the same ones every time. The front page is a very powerful advertising tool more than anything else. They have the random feature available, so I think the front page should be: 3 random Dev Choice, 3 random Hall of Fame, 3 random 5-star, 3 random 4-star, and 3 total random arcs. This would give everyone a shot at being on the front page, and would be a great service to spread more plays around.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like this idea quite a bit.
The last part "3 total random arcs" could be quite interesting, placing a Farm or a "What was this fool thinking?" gibberish-text arc for public perusal.
I could also go with "Catch of the Day" for 3 random currently-unplayed arcs, which would disappear after 24 hours, regardless of number of ratings in that time. -
I'm not sure that lacking in ST would really balance against having a lot of AoE. Limit the size of the AoE, I suppose.
There would have to be a lot of different types of grenades involved, especially for what you've mentioned
A Blast set I could see.
A Control set, maybe.
Secondaries for Blasters and Corruptors (who usually get a version of Defender Primaries) would be harder for me to envision. I don't see buffing your team via Grenade, but DeBuffing your enemy via Poison Gas Grenades, Acid Grenades, etc would make sense. Of course, anything that does damage could be considered a "HP DeBuff", but that's another tangent. -
Meh.
I was disappointed to lose badges that I'd selected as titles, and ones that I had actively worked towards (I.E. specificly temporarily changed my playstyle), but am kind of glad to no longer see progress bars for badges that I never intended to work towards.
Did kind of feel dirty to suddenly have an Accolade pop up upon login, but the feeling went away quickly.
Edit to Add: The Loss of "X numbers of player have rated your arcs." badges have greatly reduced my motivation to write more AE arcs. I had been considering the purchase of just a couple more AE slots, but have decided against it for now. -
Dear Canadian Players:
Feel free to write (or point me towards) an AE arc that uses CoV's "Canada Joe" as a contact. Surely he must have something more sinister going on than fishing the waters of Port Oakes. He hasn't done anything since CoV went live!
Thank You. -
Yes, everything is speculation at this point.
I was under the impression that we would simply go into a third area "Preatoria" and experience things from the perspective of our "evil twin", not truly switch sides and go into the actual zones of the other faction.
I guess that they could code it* so that your Scrapper couldn't pick up redside exploration badges when cruising Mercy and Cap, and your Brute couldn't pick up explore badges in Atlas and I.P., otherwise you would be looking at doubling up on Accolades.
You could keep your $Inf in Preatoria if you assume that your "Evil Twin" has roughly the same Fame/Reputation in his world as you do in yours. I guess.
*shrug*
*Yeah, "Standard Code Rant" applies. -

The consensus in that thread is that *banned* accounts should always have their names freed no matter what, but it's more and more sticky when you get into non-banned accounts.

Depending on what got them banned, I'm not sure that I'd want the name formerly used by a banned player, should I run into someone who remembers them. -
About sending "stuff" to characters not your own, via Email.
I see no need for this, other than making RMT deliveries easier, since the buyers would no longer need for thier account to be online to recieve the deliveries. Then the buyers could recieve thier ill-gotten gains without giving up thier account passwords to the unscrupulus seller.
About sending "stuff" to alternate characters on your own account, via Email.
Don't need to.
1) With minimal effort, any character in a post I-9 CoX can be monetarily self-sufficient. No marketeering tricks needed, just sell (or use) the drops that come free with defeating foes. Just learn where the best price is for each (stores vs. Market).
Can already trade goods to alternate characters
2) Can use the Market to transfer $Inf to alts on the same faction, regardless of server. (You will lose a percentage as a fee, but Western Union charges too.)
3) Can use SG bins to transfer Enhancements and Salvage to Alt characters in the same SG.
4) Can set up $Inf deliveries from one character to another, regardless of Server or faction, via a second player. Check your server forums to set one up. (As redside and blueside markets are different, there may be an exchange rate if cross-faction.) Trust-worthy players are not hard to find.
What's the point?
5) A L50 of any AT can make a million $Inf per hour, and some characters of certain powersets can double that, in fairly normal (i.e. non-exploit) play. Evidence? Catwhoorg's Hour Challenge, if it is still posted and not lost to the forum purging of old threads. If players with L50's are allowed to sugar-daddy thier alts at will and at whim, then you could create a real "haves vs have-nots" situation, couldn't you? Wouldn't there be a real discrepency between starting players trying to level a new character and vets who are leveling an alt?
Not that there isn't already a big difference. Vets powers help a bit by adding an extra (unslottable) power or two, but knowing where to go and what to do when you get there is a big help. But this would spread the difference more.
Might as well just make L1-30ish enhancements free at that point.
At the risk of sounding apathetic, I'm politely "meh" on this idea. The same as I was the last 5-10 times it was brought up by posters who elaborated more on the idea. -
Well, if reading Emails gave me chances to recieve recipe and salvage drops, I'd stop hiding from /search and start hanging out in starting zones more.
-
You mean like a SG where the theme was "A bunch of regular folks who just happen to also have powers"?
Not the guys who are the front-liners saving the world or the guys who are at the red-carpet premiers and autograph signings, but The Other Guys.
Check with Heroid to see if The Other Guys are hiring. They're a great bunch of folks who gave me my start on this server. -

I'm sure that given half a chance, someone in the Suggestions Forum could come up with 9 powers for that set.

Fairy Armor
1) Pixie Dust. Toggle: PBAoE Tuant, -ToHit. Your cloud of shiny pixie dust gets into your foes' eyes.
2) Butterfly Cloud. Toggle: Resist Smashing/Lethal. The swirling butterflies around you absorb some of the force of strikes aimed at you.
Etc.
But would this armor be Prettier than Energy Armor? -
Oh well. I had plenty of warning on VU, but brushed it off.
No big deal, just have a character who has two fully slotted builds and I was going to slowly peel all the IO's out of one build to feed alts and such. -

When they announced Cimmorora (or however it's spelled), I fully expected a third type of Salvage other than Tech or Arcane: Archaic.
Could have: Wicker Basket, Papyrus Scroll, Clay Jug, Leather Sandal, Torn Toga, Ox Yoke, Bronze Axe, Pointy Stick, Shiny Rock, etc.
