I wouldn't be surprised if Custom Critters in general were to get reduced rewards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's an idea they could work with, since they seemingly insist on allowing all-Lt and all-boss maps.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, a terrible idea since people just farm standard mobs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, it would be expected to reduce rewards on some, but not all of the things being farmed, then wait a few months before doing anything else.

    7) Blasters... Honestly, it's hard to screw up a Blaster. Even if their build or playstyle is moronic, they still generate what you want from them, which is healing badge credit for rezzing them.

  3. Possible things to do:

*The work you're actually supposed to be doing at work.

*Troll the CO boards. "Where's Jack?"

*Find a local TV station, (like KATU) that has message boards where you can comment about the stories. Troll with things "Nerf Drunk Drivers", and "When is patch to fix roads going to be released?".

    **BEGIN THIRD SUGGESTION**

When a player levels beyond a certain point, their contacts send them on to another contact. That contact then moves to the inactive contact list. You're with me so far, right?

Well, I know more people than me (yes, it's a common subject) would like to be able to fill up the contact bar all the way, because we are just a bit OC about it. I don't like partially-filled bars lingering in my inactive contacts - I prefer them full. Going back through Ouro and completing their arc doesn't even fix this, as I noticed after blowing a few hours thinking it would work.

Can we make it to where you can fill the inactive contact bars by going through Ouro, or something? Or, possibly, introducing a system in which you can only meet them at a certain level, but there is not a cap on what levels they will work with you at?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Just have it so that running through Ouro will fill the contact bar. Yes, it will mean that you will unlock thier selling of Inspires (could be handy) and (outleveled and overpriced) enhancements.
But having thier arcs doable at higher levels could generate missions filled with foes that cap out at levels lower than your character (Hellions, for example, cap at L14).
So I like your Ouro version of this idea.

Well, this ends my suggestion thread. Please don't flame me or whatever it's called... I hear the forums can get pretty mean.

[/ QUOTE ]Welcome to the forums. We're fairly nice here, actually. We do disagree with bad ideas and sometimes that's falsely regarded as hostility towards the posters who take that personally.

For a Hero, I'd like to heal and buff team mates, but I worry about solo capability. For a Villian, I like the same thing, but minions would be nice if there's an AT that controls them.

    [/ QUOTE ]
For a Hero, I'd suggest a Defender. Not always the best solo'er, but some of them can do so very well. Peek around the Defender boards, but never use the word "Healer". They will tear you up.

You might like Masterminds or Corruptors. Corruptors are like in between Blasters and Defenders, or a reversed Defender. Ranged Damage is thier Primary and Team Buffs are thier Secondary. (Some team buffs affect the caster, and DeBuffing the enemy helps the caster as well.) Curruptors don't do as much damage as Blasters, but get a large bonus to damage wounded foes. (Sound villainous? )

    Origin means very little.

    [/ QUOTE ]That's a shame.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, it's mostly a story-telling tool. And it affects the naming of the enhancements you use, and which stores you go to to get them.
  7. Okay. Your answers are pretty much what I expected in responce to my questions.

And I'm glad that you remembered: [ QUOTE ]

We can't remove XP from AE. The box advertises it as an alternative way of getting from Lv1-50. To change that would be to open themselves up to a lot of trouble.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think that the thing to do is to wait and see what I-16 brings in the "set yourself to count as a team of 1-8 for setting mission spawn sizes". Especially if it only works in main-game missions.
If farmers have the best reward/time ratios in main-game missions, they will not be in AP. Nor will they pad thier main-game missions with doorsitters who will take a split of thier drops.
Less spamming in AP. Fewer farm teams as the more competent farmers head for greener pastures.
Less PL'ing leading to fewer L50's who don't have a clue.
  8. [ QUOTE ]

    My top choices are..

    Demon Caller
    DemonCaller
Oryo Ryouko (japanese mashup, roughly translates into Honorable Demon Caller-ironic, since she's a fire scrapper, not a demon summoner).
Or...Oryo Rio (mashup, this time using a civilian nickname)

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd suggest one of the last two (of those four).

    [ QUOTE ]

Basically, wanting a name that is less clunky, and worried that someday, some GM is going to Google it as Demon Caller Royo (which can actually be Googled) and come to the conclusion that AHAH! it is a copyright infringement! After all, getting generic'd is a fate worse than death in this game.

So, change it? "Tempt the whatever from high atop the thing", and keep it? Or go with a suggestion from you kind people? Y'all got til Tuesday to help me, btw...

    [/ QUOTE ]
If there's a reasonable risk of the generic-stick, then I'd change it. Less hassle that way.

So yeah, being as I play table top games a lot, I was wondering if there was an RP server or not? That certainly would add a lot of points.

Is the game casual player friendly? I'm not a big number cruncher.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Yes.
    [ QUOTE ]

Can you tell me what each Archetype/Origin does briefly so that I can know what I should start out as?

    [/ QUOTE ]
What do you like to play as? The AT's play differently, but some AT's have multiple different playstyles, depending on power choices.
    Origin means very little.
Tanks: Hard to kill, but low damage. Gather the foe's attention off of the weaker teammates. Some take a more offensive role.
Scrappers and Brutes: Flip out and kill things up close. Berserker mode! Some (self) defences.
Stalkers: Be sneaky, then kill stuff. Assassin.
Defenders: Buff the team, Heal the wounded or weaken the foes into nothing. And do a little shooting. Even the most healing-minded powersets are about much more than healing, and team buffs (and enemy debuffs) are more valuable in this game than in some others.
Blasters: Primarily ranged damage. Some melee damage. No defenses.
Controllers: Hold the foes, preventing them from doing harm. Do a little team buffing.
Masterminds: Summon Pets, send them forth to kill. Controlling Pet AI can be tricky.
Corruptors: Shoot stuff. Some team buffs/ enemy De-buffs.
Dominators: Control your foes, crush them as they lay helpless.
    [ QUOTE ]

I remember there was 3 body types at the beginning, are there still only 3?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but a whole lot more costume options since the beginning.
    [ QUOTE ]

And last but not least, why is that posting box so tiny?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The new forums will be up soon. Might change things.

Any archetype can solo, just not at the same speed.
Good solo'ers include, but are not limited to: Scrappers, Brutes, Masterminds and Blasters
  10. I see. Thank you for the clarification.
  11. Instead of the Reply, Reply All, Delete, Spam or New option buttons, I would prefer Reply, Delete, Delete All, Spam or New.
I don't see much of a need for "Reply All", outside of SG communications.

Or just add "Delete All" in addition. I'm not picky. Maybe even with a pop-up of "Delete All? Yes/No?" to appease those that are saving an email or two, since there are a few legitimate ones out there.

    Or the oft-requested reciever-side filter.
    Thank you.
  12. Generally speaking, your attacks suck more end than your toggles.
Slot 1 Endred in each toggle (2 if it's a big drainer) and one in each attack.
And one recharge in the base slot for Rest.
    Then see how you do.
  13. Very well.

Was the AE a good idea or bad?

I believe that is was a good idea to tap into the playerbase for storyline ideas. See the Hall of Fame and Dev's Choice arcs for some examples of well-written arcs. Well, I can't say that I like all of them, but most of them are pretty good. Pick any three of them and compare them to any three ingame arcs, taken at random.

I think it was a good idea to give the players the option to level up in yet another way. Not the L1-50 in a day rate, but eventually.
Players need to recieve some reward for thier time, or they will choose to go elsewhere.

I think that with it being implemented differently, the farming issue wouldn't be such a big deal. But unfortunately, it is, and the Devs have not done much about it.

    With the exception of :
    1) Farm-spam (which can be ignored if you want to miss out on anything else over Broadcast)
    and
    2) New players thinking that the AE is the entire game and not subscribing after a month. (Loss of revenue)
The AE is a good idea, otherwise.

Oh, and I would have made it a seperate zone so that AE players could start in different zones and still team together. Or at least allow teammates to use the mission entrance portal in different zones to arrive inside the same mission, like you can in a train mission!
  14. Electric Armor (for Brutes) has Powersink already. If it still has Powersink (one of the best powers in the set, if not the best) when ported to Tanks, then it won't need it in the APP.

Scrappers getting more than just three APP choices? That would be a nice option.

I like the idea of having more choices, but would Mace Mastery 1 and Mace Mastery 2 be two completely different (and presumably mutually exclusive) sets?
  15. I'm sad. The OP's rant doesn't really fit the thread title.
It could have been a reasonable discussion for maybe up to a page and a half.

  19. You can play or create AE missions whether or not you own the AE box. All you have to do is log on and enter the AE building, then go from there.

  21. I wouldn't be surprised if Custom Critters in general were to get reduced rewards. I'm not calling for it, just expecting it. Perhaps also for custom factions with critters hand-picked from existing main-game factions.

Every now and then, you'll encounter Custom Critters that use Fire damage, and if there is also mention of Fire damage critters specificly in the mission description, then I bet that the author has a character with the Fiery Armor powerset, especially if the arc is one mission long on a "unique map".
  22. Also: If an attack does 50 points damage for 10 endurance, and the wounded minion has only 40 HP left, then any additional damage slotting won't do any good, but endred slotting will.
Sorry, I played a Broadsworder who wasted a lot of End that way.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
So while you're in the AE, doing AE missions, you get Virtual XP and gain Virtual Levels. This is an alternative leveling path that applies only to AE missions. So if a Lv1 newbie enters a boss farm and goes to Lv50 ... he's Lv50 *only* in the AE building. When he steps outside of the AE building, he's back to being a Lv1 newbie because all of his experience was virtual.

[/ QUOTE ]If your L50 character is one who got there via AE, using "virtual levels", then would it unlock a EAT/VEAT that was only usable while within the AE? I would assume not, since all characters spawn outside of the AE.

    [ QUOTE ]

But what if you're already a Lv37 superhero? Does that mean that when you're in the AE building, you're Virtual Lv1? No. You already have 37 levels of real experience, and those real experience are going to help you in the simulation. If you're Security/Threat Level 37, then when you enter the AE building, your Virtual Level is also 37. You can get up to VL50, but when you exit the AE building you'll go back to being Lv37.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Okay. Here's one for you.
A L1 enters the AE and levels to L20. He exits at levels L-MG-1/L-AE-20 (Main Game / AE).
He then plays the main game to L14, so he is L-MG-14 / L-AE-20? Or would the AE XP add together with the MG XP for L-14 / L-AE-25+?

Despite the fact that I have found this forum to be rather… nasty about suggestions,...

Not usually. It depends on the suggestion. Some are pretty good, but some really suck or are presented poorly.
    [ QUOTE ]

a couple of (related) thoughts have occurred to me lately, and while I don’t know if the Devs actually bother to read this forum or not, I figure I’ll post it anyway.

[/ QUOTE ] Evidently, some do, since BackAlleyBrawler posts occasionally.

    [ QUOTE ]

First: Home towns. It’d be kind of interesting if you could choose one of the zones at some point to be your chosen stomping ground.
You never outlevel radio missions there, maybe you can always manage to get *some* xp from even street sweeping. Batman spends most of his time in Gotham, Superman spends most of his time in Metropolis, The Flash in Central City… why can’t my hero decide he’s going to be the permanent protector of… say… Steel Canyon (I rather like Steel Canyon) and have that decision be worthwhile in-game? I’d be cool.

[/ QUOTE ]Bolded section contains the possible problem. (as per previous posters). I'm against encouraging even more characters to never leave Atlas Park. But I think there's a solution. (skip to the end to see)

    [ QUOTE ]

Second: Permanent Contact(s). I’m thinking Commissioner Gordon here, Lois Lane, J. Jonah Jameson (sorta). A contact (or limited group of contacts) who you can always count on to have some missions for you.
Not quite like Meg Mason, who just tosses out an unlimited number of similar-but-not-quite-the-same missions, but something like the game goes <alright, had I sent the Hero to the next contact, their arc choices would have been W, X, Y, and Z… so the Perma-Contact will offer a random assortment of those arcs, preferably located in Hometown zone>.

Anyway, just a thought that’s been dancing around in my head.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It does sound like a permanent Detective/Broker contact.

    But here's my counter-proposal:
Have the favored Permanent Contact in your favorite zone auto-exemplar you (Ouroboros-style) to the top of the level range of the zone, enabling you to get some reward, just not XP. Who is to say that Superman and Batman are still getting XP from the streetsweeping of Metropolis and Gotham? Unless there is a Galactus GM zone event, anyway.
If you choose a permanent contact in a zone that caps at L50 (P.I., RWZ, Grandville or the Shadow Shard (heh) ), they could exemplar you to L45, or not at all.
