Other than Respec Recipes, aren't most of them Vendor Trash or close to it?
I'd say rather than add a new form of storage item to have to deal with (and face the max amount of total bins), just jack up the Salvage Rack capacity to 100+ and have Salvage take up 1 space each, and Recipes take up about 3 or so. -
Quote:*jumps in like Kanye*EDIT: Why is it that all the people I'd most like to give positive reputation to are the ones that have disabled their reputation? Sheesh.
I give +Rep to people who deserve it whether or not they've turned off Rep. That way, if they change thier mind, it's there (since it was already earned). If they leave it off, it doesn't matter.
*leaves the stage* -
So far I only checked three chgaracters for 4, 5 and 5.
The four made me the happiest, because one of those was "Born in Battle".
I suppose I could grab one I haven't logged in since the change to the AE badges and get more, but I'm happy with what I've got. -
Quote:I know you aimed this at Trashcan, but I'm going to answer it from my viewpoint. So Trashcan, please answer these questions:
1) Do you think there should be no threat/risk to "death"?
2a) Do you think the current risk:reward ratio is correct?
2b) If not, What kind of risk or threat do you think would make the game more exciting, if any?
3) Do you think there would be any amount of XP loss (waived for 50s) that would make a good threat but not be too much?
Just tryin' to inspire some creative ideas.
1) There should be *something* of a penalty, but not a very serious, hindrance, un-fun one.
2a) I think that the debt system, both in the original system and the newer, weaker version is a very good way to go. The problem is that the Patrol XP system overshadows (and practically eliminates) it.
2b) I'd keep the debt system. Maybe throw in a bit of trash-talk by the non-AE foes, or maybe have the street NPC's say things like "I've seen BBQ Pork coming out of the hospital a lot lately. I wonder if he was visiting a sick friend?"
3) I'm against XP loss for reasons other posters have given.
Ever play old (Pre-3rd Edition) D&D? Level-draining monsters (usually undead) were widely feared and hated. They never gave enough XP to replace the levels they stole, and you had to refigure your HP if you didn't record what your HP had been at each previous level. Even if you gained your levels back you could be worse off. Often, we would be tempted just to toss the thief at the critter, since "They're only thief levels". (Mediocre at best in combat, and fewext XP per level to gain levels).
In an MMO, refiguring HP wouldn't be a problem (handled by the computer, not randomly rolled), but losing levels would still be a hassle.
I could see how XP/level loss could be handled mechanically, like exemplaring. But I expect that it would face hatred by the playerbase.
I could see Powerleveling being sought more if regular leveling were seen as more difficult.
Even the original debt system (starting at L4, higher debt cap, not halved for indoors) was something that I thought was beneficial.
It showed you that maybe you should look again at your tactics and might not be ready for the big leagues, but didn't make your fights harder, which would build more debt and thus be a big ugly circle.
In fact, it was financially beneficial (remember, this was pre-I9) in that a high-debt character would be slower to level, but gain $Inf and Enhancement drops at the same rate. Thus, easier to afford enhancements, which rotted and wilted as levels were gained and needed to be replaced/upgraded.
I could honestly imagine Debt being increased in some way to counter what Patrol XP has done to it, but Good Lord Almighty would there be an uproar. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
And I would most likely roll my eyes at the wailers. -
Tuatha De Dannon: Real warriors don't need Pants! Or kilts, or underwear!
{Alternately: Making short melee characters uncomfortable since 2006) -
You could always defeat something and check the rewards for Prestige earned.

Can you change the colors on defensive toggles? If so, I intend to change my /SR Scrapper (Awesome Possum) toggles to match his Cloud of Flies costume aura as best I can.
My Ice Blaster will get purple. (Her Ice Guantlets are powered by a few broken Clockwork minions and an old Grape Slushee machine)
My FF/Energy Defender will have her blasts changed to match her bubbles, which will not change. (Unless, I take Detention Field, which would be darkened or reddened.)
I don't plan on changing many of my characters. -

Spetznaz: Someday, we'll be in a SECOND story arc!
Mooks: Fighting against unfair stereotypes since....HEY, WhatChooLookinAt? -
Redcaps: The League of Disgruntled Lawn Gnomes.

Next up should be a used car lot thrown into King's Row. (and one in Port Oakes or St Martial) With a NPC car salesman with a contact ring around his feet, but no dialog or popup when you click on them.
Not to introduce vehicles into the game, but to introduce wild speculation until the next issue, when the car lot is removed. -
Hellions: Devil-Worshippin' cus Emo/Goth was already taken. [censored] You, Skulls!
Skulls: Now with 25% more Darkity-Dark Darkness! -

Quote:That solution works just fine for me.
The problem is, *someone* will scream bloody murder if it's taken out (even if, given how miniscule debt is, it's usually gone within the next spawn or two.) I'd just say "Add something else *useful* alongside it in that slot." -
Longbow: We're everywhere you want to be.
Sky Raiders: Because "Flying Space Pirates" would have sounded corny. -
I agree.
Debt Reduction set bonuses seem to only be a "filler" product, and not of any measurable value.
In fact, off-hand, I can't think of any other set bonuses which are Non-Combat, although I'm sure there are some.
They are about as non-combat as a "-1.25% to Costume Alteration Fees". *smirk* -
Quote:Meh. It's not hard to be both honest and polite, nor gradually increasing the bluntness of saying no until the point is made.I like it. One thing, though:
There are those times - and I'm sure you've been there, too - when my well-coordinated and effective team of four is standing outside a mission door and another hero hops up.
Sometimes he's a randomly generated costume with a name like PhatLewt or L337ST3R. Others he's a soon-to-be genericized tribute to his favorite hero, but wit xX or somesuch to either side of his name, like xXWolverineXx or .Superman.
He'll run circles around you, hop up and down in front of random team members, and occasionally drop a boombox and start dancing. And you're stuck because one of the members had to change the baby.
Eventually, someone on the team will say in team chat "I hope he goes away soon," and of course the newcomer will then say something like "Can I haz ur team?" or INVITE?
And you say "Sorry, we're full - just waiting for people to zone." and he'll go away. With your suggestion, I'll have to be honest with him.

Quote:I'd be happy if they did any of the following:Or "How to make finding a group as painless as possible".
We've all done it - sending tells to greyed out people in the find member list and hearing "sorry we're full", "sorry we're doing a tf", or "we're playing as a supergroup". It makes you a sad panda doesn't it? You know it does.
Wouldn't it be nice if the find member list had a table of existing teams? With every member of the team listed? With the leader clearly marked? With space for the team to list the roles that need filling? With the ability to describe what they team is up to? Hell yes!
But why stop there? Lets throw in an Apply button, which automatically alerts the team leader to your request, and provides a link to a profile for them to check your powers and read a description of your personality and play style.
Added a filter to the /search menu to not show teamed people.
Added a star to team leaders in the /search.
I don't see a need to add the team's non-leaders to the list, other than to allow a pest to bother each on in turn after the leader says he isn't interested in hiring the $level $AT that is applying.

Similarly, there should be a bulletin board in City Hall where SG's can choose to list themselves. This could also have a handy Apply button, and contain information such as colour scheme, number of members, or a brief description. If there's a dress code or theme, perhaps an example costume could be uploaded for people to browse. A small section for notes would allow the leaders to say which costume pieces can be varied or which ones are mandatory.
Sometimes your character concept might narrow your choices of group. Being able to sort by colours and theme, as well as name would be a huge boon. And maybe leaders could add tags to the ads so that people can search for keywords.
IMO this would greatly streamline the search for a team or supergroup. Finding a good group can drastically improve your play experience. I think it would help to increase the popularity of the game, and make searching easier for existing players.
Perhaps it should have SG's drop off of the advertising boards unless they renew occasionally (Hmm....a Prestige Sink?), thereby making sure that the ones advertising are at least partially active. -
Quote:Hunt missions are tedious. I'd say that they should never be over 25, or perhaps even 20 foes.Eliminate the defeat a certain amount of enemies, or limit it to one, and one only. Then have the missions run to finish the Arc. This will reduce the amount of time spent for those who might do them for merits.
Quote:Also go forward, have the zones linked, so if in Steel and a mish is required in Perez, the entrance is there. I am ok with travel, but not a ton of it. I know this has changed, and there isn't as much travel, but over 1 zone or such isn't so bad.
I expect that newer blueside content will be written with less focus on forcing multi-zoning on players for no reason other than to show them loading screens. (At least Founder's has a tram now, and Skyway has a second one finally, to put it on par with Steel.) -

It was the name of my first Tank to get past L14, and my Main on Virtue for a while.
-
Sure.
And at the same time, we should figure some way of informing the players to actually use the LFT flags. -
I like that you are consistant, Alt_O_Holic.
But if the rules change, then perhaps the current banned/unbanned state should reflect the current rules.
On the other hand, leaving a banned arc as banned after the rule change would reflect the writer's willingness to break rules. Example: A speeding ticket for doing 45 in a 35 zone probably won't get removed from your record if the zone is later changed to a 45Mph zone.
*shrug*
I would hope that arcs with reduced rewards would be labelled as such. -
Have them no longer tab-targetable, but targetable by click, like the bank's vault door?
In the meantime, try this:
/Macro MayH "CustomTargetNext Longbow$$Customtargetnext PPD$$customtargetnext Security"
(You can edit the macro as needed by right-clicking on it, unlike a bind)
