Quote:You said that you were having hardware/connection issues, which in my opinion was a totally valid reason for disappearing from the team. So, say you have a badge mission since you brought him up we'll use Frostfire as an example. The team is halfway through the mission when suddenly a transformer blows, your power goes out, and you are unable to log back in for hours. The team goes on to finish your mission they get the badge and you don't. That doesn't seem fair either does it? There has to be some common ground that we can meet on. Maybe there is a way to implement this in some form and maybe there isn't. I don't know. One thing I do know is that in the case that I was involved in if those guys had just used some common courtesy we wouldn't be discussing this now.
But look at it from the team's perspective.
They start a mission, get partway through it and then one teammate vanishes. Likely, only the team leader who set the mission even knew whose mission it was. But how long do you stop the entire team from playing when a teammate disappears? A minute? 5 Minutes? Thirty?
Did they know you were having connection issues before you disappeared?
I've heard stories here about folks having bad PuGs and just forcing a DC rather than bow out politely, so it's possible that they thought you bailed on them to get them to do your mission for them without being there.
I think that you are attributing far worse motives on them than they actually had, and I don't think that you were cheated out of anything.
If it were a badge mission, then hopefully you got the badge, and if you didn't, you can always wait until L25+ and use Ouroboros to re-run it. -
Quote:Other than a hospital trip, (with no one able to hand you the inspires to combine into an awaken) how many reasons do you have for leaving the mission in progress? This is something that has been bothering me for awhile and it just happened to me again. I think that it's extremely rude when I'm on a team and for one reason or another I end up outside of the mission but before I can get back in the team finishes my mission without me. I think that there should be a clicky under options so that you can disallow/allow this to happen.
I think that this idea needs a lot of work, because Sigium brings up very good points. Perhaps if you've clicked "do not complete", the mission finishes normally, with rewards, for those actually doing the work, but you get to keep the mission to re-complete yourself? Sounds like quite a potentially exploitable situation.
If you've clicked "do not complete" and the team finishes the mission, they get a "mission complete", but without the normal rewards? Sounds like getting cheated for the benefit of someone who is pretty much AFK.
I'm sorry, but I cannot support this idea in it's current state. It needs a lot more work to be refined into something better, and more fair towards the team. -
Well, a power that actually does something like AoE damage or stun would have to be added to some powerset or pool. So the drawback would be that you would have to trade another power out in order to get it. And die (with the lolDebt, of course) in order for it to be triggered. And I assume that there would likely be a timer on it if need be.
Unlike Rise of the Pheonix, you would have less control over when it's triggered. You would end up with occasional instances similar to what I did recently: My Corruptor and her foe killed each other with DoT's. I got Mission Complete the hard way. *smirk*
As for adjusting the idle animations of my foes, I like that idea. I can see them dancing, /em teabag, or whatever as they camp my corpse, preventing me from popping an awaken. (Yes, I usually skip self-Rezzes on melee characters). -
Just an animation, and no mechanical effect? Okay. I could see that.
Or similar to the cyborg pack's self-destruct power, or perhaps similar to Rise of The Pheonix, how about a passive power that causes an explosion (slottable for Acc and Damage, but not Recharge or Endred) when your HP=0? -

Gratz on having self control.
I'm polite, but I would have been tempted... -
Quote:*sigh*Earlier today my wife logged in and straight away got a blind invite.
We weren't sure if maybe we knew them so she did a search.
He was a level 47 in Atlas, his search comment was "NO BLIND INVITES ACCEPTED"
I do dearly hope that she sent him a tell. "According to your search comment you don't accept Blind Invites, so why do you send them? Obviously you think that they are rude."
And hopefully she didn't get a profane tirade in return.

Maps that need to be changed?
How about Arachnos maps with spawn points that are at (or very near, within typical agro distance of) the door? -
Quote:While I like your other suggestions, this one would be quite awesome, particularly if the duration was upped.
Summon Gravity Geyser: You summon a gravity geyser from the Shadow Shard oriented in the direction you're facing. This geyser can launch a player a full mile in under 6 seconds over level ground when touched, but only lasts for 10 seconds before it vanishes. Recharge: 5 minutes.
(Although there are certain places I would forbid it's use, like inside of the BM's killzone and the WW building.) -
Quote:That's interesting.Right now huge GMs like the one you described are (mostly) beyond the current capabilities of the game. The largest entity in the game (not counting Rularuu, since he doesn't actually ever appear) is the Jade Spider, which can be difficult to fight because of how targeting works.
I seem to vaguely recall seeing a dev post saying that they wanted to rework how targeting worked so they could do larger entities, but obviously nothing has come of that so far.
I wonder if they could attach multiple creatures together, each with thier own targeting box and have it animate in a way that makes it look like a single creature with multiple targeting boxes?
Without it's movement looking absolutely rediculous, at least.
Because if they could, then perhaps they could have a larger Giant Monster and still have it defeatable by ground-pounders.
Now that thier larger-than-original team has (mostly?) finished with Power Customization, perhaps this is more doable than it was in the past. -
It makes sense to do things in a consistant manner.

Quote:Why should characters who are on a team (and not a leader) even be listed on /search?TEAM LISTS:
In the search for players menu, there should be a ring around a group of players in the search which identifies a team, like all the people in that team are in a box in the search
TEAM LEADER ID:
Basically in the search the player who is the leader has thier name in gold to signify they are the leader. -

I'm glad not to hear AE farm-spam quite so much. Farming will never die, but hopefully the biggest, silliest exploits will. Sure, the AE needed to provide XP, but 1-50 in a few hours was too much, IMO.
I've taken the opportunity to play with the power customization a bit and like it, but will only do it for a small portion of my characters, since the original colors are just fine.
Opting out of email from strangers, with the option to opt out of ALL email? I like it quite a bit, and was a vocal supporter of this. I'm surprised it's only character by character, but that's okay.
The new difficulty sliders? Awesome. I can truly face the foes that I wish to face. Freakshow x5, Malta x4? Heck yeah!
And I didn't notice a charge for the service.
And a self-heal for /Elec? I like. -
So, Billy. Do you like gladiator movies?

Quote:Since the improved, 'granulated' /Hide came out, I started hiding from /search to keep off of the RMT'ers mailing lists.I use the /search feature multiple times daily, always did ; in fact, it shows interesting trends over a long enough time period.
From when I joined (nov 2008) to june 2009, heroside population on Freedom at European hours (during the 12h - 22h timeframe, GMT +1) was consistently in the ~700 range.
Since september 2009 (I took a break during july/august so can't pinpoint a specific dropoff), it's down to ~400 at the exact same hours.
Freedom still consistently shows as the most populated server, being last on the list unless my previous played alt was from Freedom (which bumps the server to the top).
I'm certainly not saying the game is dead ; that's a ridiculous argument to make... About as ridiculous as to say everything is fine and the game is stronger than ever.
Commercially, it might be fine for all I know. Less activity doesn't imply less subs, especially with CO on the market some players might share their time between both games ; although with the staffing up Paragon Studios has done, you'd think they'd shoot for a higher number of subs. Here's hoping Going Rogue is a hit.
Still, it doesn't change the fact that I am seeing less people ingame when I play and the pool of players available for teaming is smaller than it used to be for me. Try to argue that and I'll just laugh at your face. I use the search function. I'll believe the numbers the search function is showing over anyone's word on these forums (unless, of course, it's a dev telling me the search function is broken...). -
I agree with this fully and on all points, for reasons already enumerated above by the original poster, Memphis_Bill.

Quote:Yes!Once again it's Talk Like a Pirate Day, and on this day I come as the petitioner to the Game Devs to ask:
YE SCURVY DOGS, WHERE'S OUR SHOULDER-MOUNTED PARROTS???
Quote:Ahem.
I also come to petition for:
1) PIRATE MASTERMINDS!!!Quote:
2) New maps for both regular story arcs and for radio/paper missions and for AE Mission Arcs that are pirate-themed: classic sail wooden ships at sea, ships at port, open map zone mimicking such locales as Port Royal or Tortuga, etc. Because I'm getting tired of nearly ALL pirate-themed MA missions set in a modern-day cargo hold (including my own!).
Quote:3) No, seriously, PIRATE MASTERMINDS! Just at least tell me you're considering making a pirate powerset to counter the Ninja MM... (insert puppy eyed look here) Quote:
4) Rum! In-game special inspiration that grants a minor health/endurance boost, and to counter that a minor stun effect to reflect the impact rum has in the real world.Quote:So what say ye? Shall we board and seize the prize? I vote yes, my hearty krewe!!! Quote:Set Sail for... OHIO!!!

Quote:Sounds fine to me.Would there be any way to add a contact to the various zones that would allow you to get hunt missions in the level range of that zone. It would be nice for the people who like streetsweeping to get an occasional reward for it. Of course I"m not sure how it would work with the new ssk or the new difficulty options but hey its just a random idea I had.
The Security Chiefs haven't been utilized much, so this seems like a good job for them. Assign them a popup of 1-3 choices of hunt mission (no more than 20-25 foes to hunt!), and after that, perhaps a safeguard-style mission.
Or just give a "hunt 20" mission as an option in the radio/newspaper. But please make sure that hunts aren't ever the only option. Perhaps flag the mission generator to only allow one at a time, (allowing two door missions) since most folks seem to prefer door missions over street. -
{The following quote has been heavily modified}Quote:Like this?
*Assault Rifle
-Lazer Rifle {Moderate Energy/ Minor Fire (burns holes in things), some -Def or -Res}
-Ice Rifle (as Ice Blast)
-Fire Rifle (as Fire Blast) Wouldn't this just be a Flamethrower?
-Energy Rifle (as Energy Blast?)
-Electric Rifle (as Electric Blast)
-Thunder Rifle (Sonic-type animations, but louder booms? Chance to Stun)
-Bubble Rifle ??? <----What is this?
-Sonic Rifle (As Sonic Blast)
-Standard Ammunition
Basicly, you have new powersets, some of which are copied from existing ones, under the Assault Rifle heading.
For some of them, you would be just changing the animation of an existing set.
Do you wish to be able to change your existing character to switch to these sets, much like switching builds? That's a whole other can of worms I won't go into. -
I like it. Go ahead and write it all the way out, either here or as an AE arc. "Asylum: Alternate Tutorial"

Quote:(In my opinion) Nothing really. It just seems that way because a lot of rants start out that way.Hmm? Maybe I'm having a "tin-ear for English moment" (not altogether uncommon) but what's negative or rant-like about "Grab-box of suggestions"?
Feel free to add "(not a rant)" to the end, or not change it at all.
Anyway, the suggestions are good.
I particularly like the <yes/no> on keywords, as there are times when I'm not really in the mood to fight custom mobs (some are okay, but some truly suck) and would like to set "-custom" in the search.
Granted, I'm also a masochist who sometimes uses the "one random" button on the AE search to find really awful garbage. -
If that were implemented, why not merge the markets at that point.
Otherwise, you would just transfer your $Inf to where the stuff was cheaper (and/or actually in supply!), buy the item and then trade it back anyway.
(That's not an argument against your idea. I'm just sayin'. -

Current workaround:
Place a dozen or so high-level SO's in the bins, switch to the lowbies.
Lowbies grab the enhancements, sell them to NPC Vendors and buy the Recipes.
Then grab the needed salvage from the SG bins and craft as needed.
