I'll suggest a new shoulderpad style for him.
Two halves of a broken toilet seat, attached kind of like the "Rings" shoulderpad Sister Psyche wears above. -
You present an interesting (albiet only partial) idea. I support the idea of a set with a broad mix of damage types.
However, if ALL of the attacks were DoT, then Sharker_Quint may have a point regarding the Blaster's survivability. It would need to have some form of mitigation, like Ice Blast has holds, Energy Blast has KB, etc.
P.S. Minor Quible: No such thing as Acid Damage. You're probably thinking of Toxic. -
Title as a question.
For you, when is a character finished, in your eyes? When do you semi-retire it to the bin of dusty alts?
At L40, For me, a character's build is pretty much finished. My tier 9 powers are six-slotted (if I took them), and I've grabbed pretty much every pool power and Primary/Secondary that I felt I needed for good play. The L41 powers are nice, but just QoL picks for the most part, as are any additional Pool powers. And Primary/ Secondary powerset picks are the same at this point.
When I ding L50, I have but three slots to fill with IO's, as I've already slotted out the build to my satisfaction on the way up. I don't use Purples, as they cost too much for the amount of use I wil get out of them. (The high cost does benefit me when I get one as a drop however, as I sell them.)
My desire to keep playing this character wanes, but I'm not done yet. I must finish the story arc and grab the resulting Merits.
I must finish any contacts left that will talk to me.
And then, I am done. The L50 will be remembered fondly and occasionally dusted off to farm a few missions to fund an alt or moved to build a new dayjob badge (or keep rank in the SG). And he/she will be logged on whenever a friend wants to team, and I don't trust thier team skills with the AT they are using and want one durable enough to handle thier errors, or is more compatible with thier powersets.
Yes, I Alt. I alt a lot.
But you? When is a character "done" for you?
When they've grabbed all the badges you can?
When they ding L50?
When they're purpled out?
When the story you've written for them is finished? -
Yeah, I guess we can stick with "CoH" for the name.
But if we had to go with the CoH, CoV, CoH/V and tack on GR, then rather than "CoH, V &R" (City of Heroes, Villians and Rogues), we might as well go with CoS for "City of Supers".
But then playing CoS would be CoS-play, would it not? -
Quote:#1) Irrelevant. But if this bothers you, then don't send teaming requests to people with that zone as thier location.I am simply proposing a series of very enticing and desired rewards you can acquire simply by teaming.Whether it be accolades,or badges,or something that the players have been dying to have in-game.I think this method might see people teaming more, and not doing one of the following..
1)Hang out at Pocket D
2)..or ask for more time to complete a mission before they join your team. That does suck so much, and it makes me mad. It's as though they think that you are going to wait on them,as well as the team too.
#2) Thier (main-game, not AE) missions are going to earn them Merits and end-of-mission rewards. Of course they are going to want to grab those. Why should they miss out on those when most team leaders only want to run thier own contacts, shafting the rest of the team out of story arc merits? It's not like the average story arc mission takes more then 15 minutes, anyway. -
Quote:The only ones that I can remember offhand are:I've been in the hospital and am thinking a bit slowly.
Where are the red side Fateweaversthat change your settings (-1,+6,no AV, etc.). They seem to have disappeared off of my maps.
Thanks for any help.
Grandville: Right by the trainer.
Mercy....middle of the map, next to Dr. <whatshisname>, contact given after Burke.
Port Oakes: Isn't there one by the trainer?
Check the bottom edge of your map for the checkboxes to show/hide different features on the map, such as stores, trainers, etc. You may have clicked off on this by mistake. -

Quote:I could go for these.I've got a few ideas:
* A special title; "Son of [deleted character name]", or whatever.
* Special badges; "I deleted my level 50 [archetype] and all I got was this lousy badge"
I would go for the badge: "Reincarnated" for any L40+ (or L30+?) deleted and remade. -
Welcome back. BTW, your sig is a little out of date?

This. You don't beat the competition by copying them, you beat them by providing a superior product or service.
While one particular MMO has this feature and is doing well, doesn't mean that it is the perfect feature to port over to this one.
Also: Iron Man is covered in gear (armor). Superman just had tights and a cape.
Blue n00b needs moar gear?
The superhero genre doesn't quite support the "gear" thing as much as the Sword&Sorcery one. -
Quote:Seems too closely tied to the Sword & Sorcery Genre for me. I've done enough of that genre (since the mid-80's) that I'm bored with it.The one thing this game is missing that is common in most other MMORPGs are items ( i.e. rings, belts, necklaces, etc. ) We have the generic concept of an "enhancement", not exactly something that would inspire a new player to stick with the game. Lets face it, people like "stuff".
What I'd propose are the following item slots:
1. Necklace ( Focus: Buff, Debuffs, Control, Special )
2. Left Ring ( Focus: Damage/Accuracy )
3. Right Ring ( Focus: Damage/Accuracy )
4. Belt Buckle ( Focus: HP/Endurance Regeneration )
5. Left Kneepad ( Focus: Defense/Resistance )
6. Right Kneepad ( Focus: Defense/Resistance )
7. Left Ankle Bracelet ( Focus: Running/Flight Speed )
8. Right Ankle Bracelet ( Focus: Running/Flight Speed )
9. Cape Brooch ( Special )
As for the bonuses, they sound a lot like set bonuses, which we already have.
I could only agree with this Left Arm: This Item Slot, Right Foot: That Item Slot thing if were something only seen on the inventory management screen, but that would sort of defeat the purpose. -
I thought that in the old forums, the search would only look for words that were four letters or longer.
Making searches for Ice / Axe Tankers harder. -
Quote:I would assume that the great big {I Agree} button would already cover this, and doubt that in-base actions would be governed any differently than actions in the rest of the game world.I would assume there would be some form of general "rules acceptance" screen the Builder would have to click on, just like when you start up and log on the game itself. This would protect the company from any liability.
Not sure how feasible it would be though to add art or outside links to the base editor. It seems a bit fragile and tempermental at times already. -

Often with the assertion that any disagreement with the ideas are somehow a disagreement with them personally and that pointing out flaws (even in a polite way) in thier ill-concieved or poorly-written constructs are attacks upon them as human beings.*familiar with the less-than-tactful nature of this forum, he closes his eyes, awaiting the first scorching burst of scornful vitriol*
This forum is like that cave on Dagoba that Yoda sent Luke into. "What flames and trolling are in there, Master?"
"Only what you bring with you, Young Apprentice."
Anyway, the part of your idea that strikes me the most is the information boards. I've longed for a good way to inform my VG members in a way that is less text-length-challenged than the MOTD, without having to set up a website. -
I recognize one of my +Rep comments towards one poster, and added one to another! Teeheehee!!
The quote of "You're about as funny as cancer. Stop posting, please." was a -Rep comment that I recieved twice, on the same post and presumably by the same person.
Say, how do you quickly and easily copy-paste rep comments from the user CP?
Also, I kind of wish I could look through the old Rep comments that I've made. -
Quote:The other way that a vet could get priority is to roll up a new character with the name they want, and when the system checks for the name, it also checks the vet status of the person who already has the name. The only way a vet could get "priority" on any given name at any particular point is for someone to submit a name, and then to have them email every vet (starting with the longest, down to the person who joined two minutes before the new person) asking if THEY wanted the name instead.
If the existing character is on a newer account, then *yoink*, they are generic67853 until they get a (hopefully free) rename.
Even as a veteran who would get the ability to do this to anyone who came in after August 2004, I think it would be awful. -
Not bad, although I would have gone a different route, based on (modified) Defender Force Fields.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Force_Field
1) Deflection Bubble. Toggle, Self-only. +Defence (Smashing/Lethal/Melee), +Resist (toxic)
2) Insulation Bubble. Toggle, Self-only. +Defence (Fire,Cold, Ranged), +Resist (EndDrain)
3) Energy Bubble. Toggle, Self-Only. +Defence (Energy, Negative, AoE), +Resist (Sleep, Slow, KB)
4) Repulsion Wave. Click. PBAoE Stun, KD.
5) Dispersion Bubble. Toggle, Team. +Def (All), +Resist (Hold, Immob, Stun)
6) Conserve Power
7) Repulsion Field. Toggle. PBAoE KB.
8) ***Something*** (Probably grab one of the good ideas others have posted above.)
9) Personal Force Field.
Like /SR, it shouldn't need a self-heal, with defensive values allowing it to (usually) pop a well-slotted Aid Self or the occasional green in between hits.
I wouldn't add anymore KB or KD than it already has. The two powers I listed should give plenty, with the Repulsion Wave making getting off an Aid Self even easier and the Repulsion Field a fun way to aggro a whole room and then run around a corner. -
Quote:This. I swear that the vast majority of my income post I-9 is from simply selling my recipe and salvage drops at the market. Dump it, post for 100 $Inf and walk away.playing earns prestige and you don't have to shut off sg mode because you still earn infl/inf while in sg mode all the way to and including lv 50. if you are worried about the infl/inf part of sg mode, sell what you drop at the market instead of vendors.
The $Inf directly from foe defeats is piddly in comparison. -
Small vs. Large SG's?
First, we would have to set a limit of what constitutes each size.
Personally, I'd go with more than two sizes.
Small: 3-5 Accounts maximum. Total of 15 characters maximum.
Medium: 5-10 Accounts maximum. Total of 25 characters maximum.
Large: No limit.
Small SG's would recieve a 50% reduction in the cost of the first six rooms, 3 TP pads, and 4 storage items. No limit on how big the base can be, but full price is paid for all additional items.
Medium SG's would recieve a 25% reduction (instead of the 50%) in the items above.
Large SG's would recieve no Prestige cost benefit.
In order to upgrade from Small->Medium->Large, you would have to pay back the price difference you recieved earlier, thus paying the same Prestige, but defering the payments until the group is larger.
Honestly, it would just be simpler to bump up the Starting Prestige for the founding of the SG and the bonus for the first few members.
Edit: I think I'm being generous as to what constitutes the first few things to get a SG started. Redside, (yes, fewer zones), my VG feels completed outfitted at:
1 entrance room (free)
1 Power Room
2 Control rooms (1 just for an Ouro pad and maybe a storage rack)
1 workshop (6 storage tables, 1 Vault, 1 Salvage rack, 2 crafting tables)
2 TP rooms (4 porters for 8 zones, Mercy->GV, +Pocket D)
1 Medical room.
Everything else is just fluff, by our standards. -
Quote:Heh. I guess I'm just one of the other half, then. I love a good costume/bio on a character, but I've gotten cynical about Costume Contests. I realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that tastes differ between individuals, so it isn't bitterness over not winning. No No you make a one winner one bill CC contest i bet you almost half of the people on your sever will come.
It's just that I dislike some of the nonsense and drama that goes on during some CC's. From fake contests that are announced, to power-spamming during contests to L50's entering who really don't need the money.
I'd rather just donate anonymously and avoid the hassle.
More power to ya if you can get CC's to work though.
