Quote:I like these two, as they don't get into the "making the new animation work with the attack powers" thing.(First post by the way!)
------
Power Suppression (v.1)
This may seem a bit redundant as the powers under walk are already unusable whilst active, but the way to convince players it's not for combat is rather harsh. Any active toggles are detoggled and ones with long recharges have to charge again.
One solution is lessen the impact by making all click powers unusable as normal but suppressing or 'Affecting Self only' the effects of toggles. This way walk doesn't turn off toggles with their recharge and can start working again when walk is detoggled.
Power Suppression (v.2)
A more lenient variant of the previous suggestion, all click powers are unusable but active toggles remain active and working. This could help out with ATs such as the Stalker who require their Hide power to be as reachable as possible. Also players running lots of Leadership powers can move around as slow as they want while benefiting their team-mates.
And as for a first post, it was a pretty good one. Click on the scales icon beneath your name (on the first post) to see what positive rep comments look like.
Welcome to the boards!
Edit: Minor nitpick: If you are using the walk toggle, you're going to be going slow enough that your team will be outpacing you considerably, making buffing via Leadership toggles not work.
Unless your team consists only of your (Mastermind!) summoned henchmen, in which case they will be happy to move at YOUR pace, without complaining.
Or your team is all Granite tanks.
Or your team is having a LOT of problems, in which case, you should turn off Walk and not deliberately operate at less than peak efficiency. -
Honorable Mention:
*) Island of the Dolls "Isla de las Munecas"
http://cakeheadlovesevil.wordpress.c...-of-the-dolls/
Rejected: Real place, creepy as all ****. -
As we know, redside has fewer zones than blueside.
Here is a list of the top seven rejected zones to add to the Etoille Isles chain.
7) Island of the Blue Dolphins
http://jacketsandcovers.files.wordpr...e-dolphins.jpg
Rejected: Sounds too much like a strip club.
6) Bikini Atoll
http://library.umkc.edu/spec-col/ww2...ges/96-655.gif
Rejected: Irradiated. Also, do villianesses need more excuse to dress skimpy?
5) Isle of Conquest.
http://www.almarsguides.com/Almar%27...20Conquest.jpg
Rejected: No one wanted to listen to broadcast there.
4) Island of Sodor.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...swolfe.svg.png
Rejected: Apparently, it's entirely held by Blue-side AT's, being populated entirely by self-described "Tank engines" and a top-hat-wearing Controller.
3) Isle of Misfit Toys
http://bullmurph.com/wp-content/uplo...isfittoys2.jpg
Rejected: No, just plain no.
2) Isle of Man
http://ngepress.com/wp-content/uploa...an-tt-2009.jpg
Rejected: We already have enough contention about adding vehicles to the game.
1) Fantasy Island

Rejected: Montague Castanella is already busy somewhere else ingame. -
Quote:I see this problem.Increase the ease of purchasing IO's. No longer would the usable enhancers be spread out over a number of levels, they would all be concentrated at fewer higher volume spots.
Currently, I am looking for two pieces of the Sov.Right set, (redside, Pet Damage) within a certain level range. There are none for sale within the level range, so I have to leave bids out for one of each level and hope that I don't get multiples filled before I check back. (granted, I could resell them, but still.)
We can bid for up to ten of one item, it would certainly be helpful if we had the option of bidding for one single item, but allow a level range of +/- a few levels. -
Quote:But the OP did say....32 rounds down. A level 30 IO would work just fine if you exemp to 29.
I don't think it's practical to change set IO's at this point, but I've often wondered if they made a mistake when they released the IO system. Commons are only available in multiples of five. They could easily have done the same with set IO's. But they chose not to, and I doubt if that will change.
Quote:Bump.....to the next highest..
However it's done, changing enhancements that are currently slotted on characters is likely to get messy.
In his example, a L31-L34 would get rounded up to L35. Since a L31 IO could be slotted somewhere on a L28 character right now, changing it to a L35 would be a problem. Even if the slotting allowance were widened to +5, that character would still have two levels to go. -
Quote:Oh, yes. And headless, with a (floating) hat, too.[ QUOTE ]
I have a feeling that if they put everything we'd HOPE for in the Mutation pack, it'd be like a 30$ investment
Multiple eyes, eyestalks (OH that would rule), bigger tails, smaller tails, messed up arms, weird legs, squished head... SQUID head...
need moar.

Headless option.

Okay, here's an Idea:
Blue-side Accolade: "Timely" Text: "You seem to turn up at the right place at the right time."
Badges: Commuter, Clubber.
Red-side Accolade: "Bad Penny" Text: "You always seem to turn up, like a bad penny."
Badges: Smuggler, Clubber. -
I like it.
How would you earn this power? Put it in an upcoming booster pack?
Tie it to a Day Job Accolade? (<----my preference) -
I've always wondered about a "Combat Teleportation" power that was more like Sprint with a much busier animation (A lot of blinking in and out when you move), but thought it might be too lag-inducing.
But I was thinking: A +Run/+Jump like Sprint, but have it LOOK like a series of short teleports. And a minor +Def, like Combat Jumping.
EDIT: As to replacing a power?
Since that's unpopular, I wouldn't mind some of the pools being "deepened" to 5+ powers each.
Or Recall Friend and TP Foe could be merged in TP Other? -
Quote:I wouldn't like it.i was wandering if you guys would have want the devs to make the world of the game open for both factions, to be able to travel anywhere regardless of your faction.
i'm going to get flamed about what i'm going to say next but..would have you enjoy comics/superheroes movies/tv shows if the heroes would be only in the heroes' city and the villains in the villains' city?i truly belive that this game need Paragon city and the Rogue isles to be open for both heroes and villains.
about Heroes vs Villains and how it may effect leveling, i think it will be best that the Heroes and Villains would be unable to atack each other.
By making every zone co-op PvE, what would be the point of even having factions?
We've already been proliferating the heck out of powersets, which some people love, but I do not. I wish that every AT had at least one exclusive Primary and Secondary, to make it stand out as special in a way other than just the AT's Inherent.
I'm against having PvP flags and Dueling requests, for reasons other posters have expressed. -
I would like the option to see my rep comments.
But they could be left as optional, so as not to bother trolls who post garbage by letting them see criticism of thier rants.
I wouldn't mind if they were anonymous or tagged with the writer's name.
As it is, I can put in a rep comment to praise a post, but the poster will probably never see it. Or I can derail a thread's main topic by posting a fluff post like "/signed!" or "Awesome idea!", wich detracts from the conversation. -

Quote:You're right.I agree with that. Also given the rep farming that's going on the usefulness of rep as a judge of character is pretty much pointless anyway. When I see someone with a long row of green lights I have no clue if it's because they are a wonderful human being who regularly contributes well written insightful posts or if they've just been playing the rep farming game (this isn't directed at anyone in particular it's simply an observation).
And while you weren't aiming at anyone in particular, I just happened to be an example of that.
I had two red -rep statements that were identical (and thus from the same poster) on the same post. Not sure how they did that.
I had one grey and a good-sized stack of green comments.
But I also posted once in the rep farming thread, and got plenty of green from there.
My resulting number is quite meaningless, and I have no shame in admitting that.
For some, thier stacks of green or red are entirely earned on the quality of thier posts.
Some green is earned, some green is given for lulz.
Likewise, some red is earned, some is given from spite. -
Well, now that a vicious troll has more difficulty seeing "Post is based on false assumptions, false statements, vitriolic rants and is clearly intended as trolling.", I can still leave that comment, but would be better off putting that particular message in the little triangle just a tiny bit to the right of the Reputation scales.

Just had a thought or two.
Removing the commentary on individual posts, but leaving the effect of accumulating +/- points towards a poster shifts the focus of Rep away from a critique of a post, and more towards a critique of the poster themselves. Not the direction I'd want to go.
Also: being a forums moderator seems like a tedious, thankless job. Like a babysitter who isn't allowed to smack us (even though they can put us in the Time Out corner if we get too unruly). -
Quote:I think the number of abusers was probably overstated. The squeaky wheel makes the whole cart sound squeaky, or some such.Well first off, I'm not particularly surprised that you removed the comments since there were plenty of idiots abusing them.
Quote:However as others have said without comments the whole rep system is pretty much pointless. The various rep farmers means that the numerical rep value has no meaning whatsoever and didn't pretty much from the start. On the other hand I used the comments as a means of signifying my approval of a particularly good post (or a cool looking avatar) without needing to clutter up the thread. -
Quote:I see.Currently, you *can* still see your rep comments. The last 3(maybe more) on a post anyway. You just have to look at the actual post itself and click the rep button. Obviously this is difficult for many of you with high post counts. But it's still there if you hunt for it. (Unless they eventually remove that part too)
If I look through all my posts and click on them, I can see (at least some) comments that were left on that particular post.
(difficult to track all my posts down)
I cannot see rep comments that others, or even myself have made on another poster's post.
I cannot see the list in my user CP.
Well, I guess this makes it easier on trolls who were offended when thier hostile, negative posts gathered negativity in return. -
Quote:That might be the problem.Or is there anybody else that thinks this game feels a little too fast and 'easy to beat' for someone that doesnt have altitis and hasnt played every single bit of content already?
This game has never really been about getting to L50. Not "rush to the level cap to do raids" or anything like that.
It's been about the game on the way to L50. Replaying it on alts.
A lot of the stuff to do at L50 is fairly new, except Hamidon. Before, all a L50 had to do was pound on Hamidon and go run a costume contest, or else....roll an alt.
The Devs (apparently) wanted veteran players to mingle with the new players, acting as mentors and teammates.
That's the way I saw the SK system and Exemplaring.
That's the way I saw the blueside EATs. As getting buffs by being in teams, a new Kheld was encouraged to team with the lowbies around him, which could easily be utter newbies. And they could, possibly, learn from him as he shows them stuff.
Redside Epics (the SoAs) are also team-based, although rather than recieve buffs from the team, they are granted team-buffs as self-buffs in thier power selections. -
And how will I spread "Pork Approved!" to those that have posted excellent posts?
Oh, I guess I can just post that within the threads, but I hate to derail the threads just to praise the other posters.
*shrug*
I guess that whoever tagged this thread with "tags are a forum game!" was right, and the rules changed. I shall see where this goes, it might get interesting. -
-
Yes, I looked for my Rep comments and they were missing. Just sent you one to see if you would get it.

To the OP,
I'm content with the current leveling speed.
But you're free to:
1) Use the existing options to slow down your own progress, such as turning off XP or diving into a death on purpose to burn off patrol XP or try to get debt.
2) Blame Patrol XP (and to a lesser extent, the XP curve adjustments) for this increased rate.
Speaking of Patrol XP, it seems odd that now someone with altitis actually levels faster than someone who sticks with a single character, they just ding across multiple characters over the course of a week, or even day. A single-character player will burn off thier Patrol XP and then level at the normal rate, where a player tha switches rapidly between multiple alts will burn through Patrol XP, then switch to another character, never running at normal XP rate for long.
But that's the way it is, and the Devs did leave an escape valve for those who choose to opt out.
