Except, under those circumstances, the reciever could easily report those situations. Just click on the "Report this post" button and leave the message "Rep comment by anonymous individual is horribly offensive, abusive and profane".
Moderator would see the comment, and who left it, since it was not anonymous to them. Problem solved.

  3. Folks have disagreed with me when I wanted individual ATs to have one unique powerset each. It seems that they want pretty much every powerset ported everywhere possible, so I doubt that any set will be Faction-specific for too long.

It's kind of a shame, IMO. ElectricMelee/Electric Armor is what drew me to Brutes, and thus to Redside, which I have enjoyed a great deal. Otherwise, I would have likely stayed Blueside, which I was starting to get burned out on.

I want something other than my Inherent power to be the one thing that sets my AT apart. Especially should that inherent be something like Vigilence.
  4. Huh. And I thought that this was going to be a request for a "Watch me pull an <$Item> of of a hat!" animation.
  5. What would this set look like? How would the "Toxic" material be delivered?
Unless it's splashed as a liquid, it's going to have to be delivered via something else.
If injected via darts or needles, you have Minor Lethal, Moderate (or better) Toxic. And from there Lethal Defense would work against the attack, as would Toxic Resist.

If you take CaSe into account that shoots up R to 55, giving this value as a result.

    1.22871e+33

    Thats a huge number.
But Case doesn't change whether or not a name is taken. If Superguy is taken, SuPeRgUy is not free, it just looks dumber.
Also: you can only have one punctuation mark in the name, so your math may be off.

I very rarely have a problem with names, probably because I use a lot of two-word names. But it happens.

I still think that the "This name is unavailable!" pop-up should read "This name is not available on this server." as some new players might not know that names are only server specific. If they are more married to the specific name than to the server choice, they might try another server. In theory, this might spread newer players to less populated servers and help balance out the population, but I really doubt that it would have a noticable effect.
Still would be a nice little thing to have.
  8. Name Reversal can work too, in some cases.
I did a move to consolidate my villians on one server and found that "Kobold Kommando" was already taken on the new server. *shrug*
    Thus, "Kommando Kobold".

    Brutes on paper

    *Looks at thread title*
    Brutes on paper?

I can barely keep them from going berserk and try to kill everything, let alone try to potty-train them.
  10. So, does anyone have any Xmas event stories? Tales of hilarity or amusement?

I have diddly squat, but I'll start anyway.
    1) Started running through Grandville on a L44 Brute, trying to get click on Presents. When I wasn't getting L40 Snowmen, I was getting L50s. So I ran around the beach outside, but most of the presents were within existing mobs. After a faceplant or two, I decided to hit the D.
When I was doing BNY missions on said Brute, I noticed that it was really easy. I checked and discovered that I was running on +0/x0/BiA (That's "mobs equal to my level", "scaled for 1 player", "Baby in arm, rendering player one-handed"). I figured that I would get around to changing the difficulty later. Final straw? Logged off, logged on again and didn't realize until halfway through the mission that I hadn't turned on my toggles. With a few inspires still managed to beat Snaptooth.
Definately time to crank it up a bit.
((Did not add Difficulty "CoL". Cat on Lap: adds random keypresses, occasionally obscures sections of screen))

    2) Playing the BNY missions with a SoA (Crab w/pets) and noticing that a very low Hover still allows you to slide around on the lake ice, but a little altitude corrects this.
Bonus: Watching nearly a half-dozen spiderbots sliding out of control across the lake, shooting wildly.

Told you I had little to go with, now entertain us all while we wait for our server to come back on!

The other issue is screen slowdown. The copies would have to be rendered like the actual character, essentially meaning that there's suddenly however-many more characters on screen, all at once, just WHAM! This could lead to issues with weaker GPUs.

I'd like to see some kind of "Portal Melee", which would actually be a ranged set, where the character would generate portals next to him/herself and the target, and then reach through those portals to punch said target. It'd probably have even worse graphical issues than BBQ_Pork's suggestion, and it'd be kind of goofy anyway, but hey, I can dream.
A small black portal opening in midair and a fist comes out to punch someone? Goofy, but awesome.
Just have a slap and a backhand in the first two powers in the set and a Shadow Maul "speedbag" attack too.

At first I saw your post and thought of a powerset that would be mostly about having portals open up underneath a foe and netherworld tentacles rising up to smack a foe around, kind of like a few existing powers ingame.

    Agreed.
I might have to look for a Cresent Moon chest logo. Unless that's not in the list.
  14. Ooh! Further animation nightmare detected:
Making the "copies" look like you might be a behind-the-scenes nightmare to get right, unless the "copies" were very vague shapes and hardly detailed at all.

For more info about a "Ranged Melee" powerset, use the search to look up "stretching". You might find something in one of those threads that's applicable to your idea.

    This.

If the idea is worth considering, it's worth fleshing out.
Right now, we have "I saw this one move in a movie and want a whole powerset (or AT depending on how you read the title. ) based on it."

What else do you have? It could be interesting, or it could be nothing.

Edit: Ranged Melee (One "L" ) doesn't have to be for a Melee AT, but rather for a Ranged AT. Think of a Blaster whose damage type is Smashing. Instead of firing a Beanbag Gun or waving a Wand-of-Flying-Hammers, his animation is:
    1) He stands some distance from the enemy and starts a punching animation.
    2) Copies of him in varius stages of the animation are placed (and removed) one by one in a line from him to the target, while he stands in the original place, covered by a very-short stealth-type hide.
    3) Doing the finishing portion of the animation, he appears to be next to the target. (even though he is really not.)
    4) The ToHit roll is made, damage is taken (or not).
    5) The 2-3 second stealth is dropped and the character reappears back in place, as if he had TP'ed in and out.

In reality, he never moved, but while he was rooted by the attack's animation, it appeared as if he had.
And it probably wouldn't truly be a Stealth, even though I used that term. Unless we start talking about a whole new AT to wrap it around.
Within the framework of an existing AT: For PvP terms, your targeting box would stay put, allowing you to be targetted while firing these powers just the same as someone firing other ranged attacks can be.
For PvE terms, well, your teammates just stop seeing you for a second or two and see the fake you in flashes towards the target.

    Harrassment? Inane replies?
A quick glance across the first page of this thread shows that you've been given logical and polite reasons why your reasons don't work.
Your original post was the most negative (statements towards others that might later disagree with you) on the whole page.
Edit to Add: Page two was nothing but fuzzy bunnies and warm hugs too, so you provided more hostility than everyone else combined up to the point of the post I quote right here. If there is anything even close to "Harassment" it would therefore be you. Feel free to report yourself.
When you get ingame Emails to the effect of "Stay out of Steel Canyon or I'm coming to ur house" or "Get off this server or I'll run you off the road on your way to work", that's Harassment. Been there, recieved those, got the chatlogs sent in to GMs.

Polite disagreement doesn't count as being mean to you and hurting your feelings isn't petitionable if you're so thin-skinned that merely pointing out errors gets you in such a tizzy.

Feel free to report every post I've made in this thread to the moderators if you feel that I've been inappropriate.

..without getting hassled, and he is estimated to have killed up to 70 Million people, beating out Stalin and Hitler.
Places in the U.S. you could wear the Hitler shirt without hassle are far fewer.
  19. I thought that your idea was going to be to have the info at the login screen, but via NPC works fine for me.

Vet Badges tell how old the account is, except for period of inactivity.
Anniversary badges are a very rough gauge, and only show if that particular character logged in that month. I very much wish they were account-wide.

Overall, I see a little (but not much) use from this. I would use it for a few characters occasionally.
I see no real downside to this, other than the (hopefully short) amount of programmer time needed, as it only shows to the player, and not to all.

    I vote yes.

  21. I saw sort of a parallel to Cuba, myself.
Tiny island country ruled by a dictator with very few costume slots.
    Hostile to the U.S.
Just compare Russia's desire to put nuclear missiles (capable of traveling to the US) there in the 60's to Recluse's harboring of superpowered criminals (capable of traveling to the US, possibly by submarine).

All we need in Paragon University students to wear Capt. Mako T-shirts "Dude, he was a revolutionary, man!". No, he was a multiple-murderer.
