Why do all the suggestions to dramaticly alter the entire market always seem to be based on the availability of a very select handful of recipes that are intentionally rare in supply?
Want lower prices on the rarest loot that has slightly better performance than much more common Set IO's? Suggest a higher drop rate.
  2. I believe that the OP's idea would need to only apply to the non-crafted enhancements (TO/DO/SO), and only to the Vendors/Stores, not the Market.

Even then, it's not perfect, but it's a lot more workable.

I understand his desire to not have to slow the team down when he levels. "Hey guys, I just dinged, so I gotta go fix my stacks of decaying SO's! Back soon!" That's part of the joy of IOs, not having to mess with them when you level. (At least not with existing power slots, but unless you really need that next power, you don't have to train when you ding during a teaming session.)

He says that he hates crafting, yet wants to include IOs in this proposed system. You bring up good points for why it shouldn't include IOs. I have a character outfitted entirely with L30ish Set IOs for his L1-32 powers and higher level IO's for everything else from L35-50, so that he can take his Defense with him when he exemplars. (Whenever midlevel Arcane Salvage prices spike blueside and the market needs a touch of supply) With this system, should it include IOs, I would lose some of my exemplaring ability.
  3. Since my SG leader is a friend I've had in RL since '93, I can safely say that his music is awful and I would not want to have to listen to it ingame.
    The concept is interesting, though.
Could lead to SG's themed by the musical taste of the leaders, as they act as the "DJ's" of the group while playing.

    .
What I am suggesting is that as you run around doing missions and you level up at your milestone levels (12,17,22,27,32,37,42, and 47) you can purchase the next level of enhancements all at once. So if you hit level 12 for example and you are already decked out with all training enhancements with a single click you can upgrade all enhancements to Dual Origin for the price it would cost you to purchase all of them without having to sit there at the store for several minutes purchasing them and placing them.
I personally would not need to do this because I generally do not mess with enhancements until at least level 12 anyway however it is just an example.
    Quote:
The next example is that you hit level 27 when you can start using level 30 enhancements. You run to a store or the Wentworths and with a click you can either purchase an replace all enhancements with level 30 Single Origin for the price it would cost to purchase them.
    Needs more options.
    Let's say I am fully slotted with L25 SO's. I hit L27.
I'd want to Combine as many of those L25's as possible to make L25+ and L25++ (equal to L26 and L27 in effect). Then dump L30's in the empty slots.
I hit L28, I'll want to Combine those with a batch of L30s to get "L30+" (equal to L31) or if the combine roll is botched, have L30s.
A straight up dump of L25s seems like a waste.
    Quote:
Or you could replace them all with level 30 Invention Origin enhancements for the price it would cost you to purchase the recipes at the university + the cost of all needed salvage+ the crafting cost without having to run around spending several hours/days trying to do it manually.
    .
Some people do not care about getting the "best price" and since the amount of subscribed players that are actually playing is down right now it is sometimes hard to find enhancements. So this would be a way to do it in a fast and easy matter if you did not want to deal with the hassle of haggling and crafting and influence/infamy was no object to you.
    .
And I am sure that the system I am proposing would show you the price to upgrade before charging you so you could see if it was an amount you are willing to pay. If you want to sit at the Wentworths for a week waiting to see if you can get that one level 35 standard invention origin recipe for fly speed for only 10000 then go right ahead. However some of us like to just upgrade and then return to doing missions, task forces, etc. and we gain enough influence that it is no big deal to drop a few million to upgrade to all level 35 or level 40 standard IOs.

I for one do not enjoy the crafting part of the game. It is boring and frustrating and I know I am not the only person that feels that way.
The italisized portion is an opinion that I do not share, but you are certainly entitled to it, as the crafting system is thankfully optional.

It would be nice to be able to upgrade your entire loadout of enhancements in a more quick and easy fashion than we have today.
I agree. However, I do not agree with the specific method you have proposed.
    Quote:
Most other MMOs you may upgrade by getting a new shield or weapon and then you are on your way but you do not have to spend hours purchasing if you can find them upgrades for accuracy/damage/range/endurance Reducers/etc. It is great that we have such a granular system however it is also very time consuming to upgrade. I am just throwing out a suggestion to make that process more streamlined for those of us who dislike crafting so much.
(Broke your post up a bit. Hope you don't mind.)

Every time you level up, there is a sound effect and a graphic. If you are using non-crafted enhancements, something just turned yellow or red.

    Quote:
...and the other part would be the ability to at any enhancement store or the Wentworths/Black Market have the ability to with a single click upgrade all your enhancements to the next milestone of either training, DO, SO, or IO. So for example you hit level 27 and your level 25 DOs turn red. Goto any store click on either TO, DO, SO, or IO and all your enhancements are upgraded to level 30 of the type you chose for the amount of Influence/Infamy it would cost to purchase that all of that type. That way if you are with a team and hit a milestone it takes a few minutes to upgrade instead of an hour or two of running between the WW and the University. If you want to work with your enhancements individually the option is still there but if you want to upgrade them quick and dirty you have that option now too. That is my suggestion.
    1) This would be far more workable if you left out Wentworths/Black Market and left out IOs.

    2) You mention Milestone levels, and in your second post mention specificly 12, 17, 22, 27, etc.
Not every user of standard (TO/DO/SO) enhancements is enhancing at exactly those levels. If you use the enhancements that drop (and are of the right origin), you will have a mix of enhancements at varius levels. If you're combining them as you go, you are not going to have all of your standard (rotting as you go) enhancements going bad at the same time. So by the time you get to the upper end, this "Milestone Levels" thing is meaningless.
And it isn't about only grinding the exact same origin foes as yourself. (CoT if you're magic, etc.). If you head over to the Market and buy someone else's drops, you are going to be able to get them at a steal, but they aren't going to be limited to levels that end in a 0 or a 5.

    3) You want to eliminate the WW->University->WW->(repeat) run?
    Here's a few options.
    3A) Buy pre-crafted enhancements.
3B) Grab them from your SG's enhancement bins (if applicable, not everyone has a SG.)

The upgrades I could imagine for improving the enhancement upgrade system at the stores/vendors?
    A) Allow a slider to bulk purchase up to 10 of an enhancement, just like you can bid on up to ten of any item at WW in a single bid.
    B) Allow a split-screen, showing your enhancement management window (I "/bind Alt+M Manage" ) and a truncated version of the vendor's sales window at the same time.

    Really??!??

Critters in BNY mission only dropping Arcane?

You would think that folks would be getting thier fill by now and moving back to a mix of regular foes, resulting in a more even spread of Tech/Arcane salvage.

In the meantime, if I see Common Tech going for that much and needing some, I'll go roll Randoms at 8 AE tickets a pop.
  11. Update:
    Quote:
3 (2x2) Transporter Rooms w/9 zones accesible. (Mercy->GV, PocketD, RWZ)
1 (2x2) Control Room w/ Flashback Mission Crystal, Empty Salvage Rack
1 (2x2) Medbay with RezRing, Inspiration Storage (Rarely Used)
    Entry Room (Of course)
1 (4x4) Workshop w/ 7 Enhancement Storage Tables (none of which are full), 1 Salvage Rack (almost full), Salvage Vault, two Workbenches (redundant, placed right under Vault door so as not to have to move around)
1 (2x2) Power Room. Generates more than enough for current needs.
1 (2x3) Control Room. Generates more than enough for current needs.
1 (2x1) Rooms. Decorative use. ("jail cell") 1 Enhancement table: Junk IOs.
    1 (2x2) Workshop. 3 Salvage Racks, 1 empowerment station.
Added RWZ access (previously went through Cap, since teleporter dropped near the BM)
Added 1 Enhancement table, 3 Salvage racks, 1 Empowerment station.
Had 6 Crystal Focus in the power room, but since only two do any good, the redundant ones were tossed.
Still have 1.7 million Prestige, but am pretty happy so far.

Our Blueside SG base is larger, but looks pretty redundant to me. (14-15 enhancement tables and only 1-2 Salvage racks? What's the point?) I just inherited it as well. Feel like trimming some of the fat, since I'm the only account there as well. Previous Super-Leader loved to craft any recipe that would sit still and toss it in the bins to outfit his other two accounts. Never seen so many Accurate ToHit DeBuffs and Defense DeBuff Set enhancements, especially when for players that love Tanks, Blasters, Scrappers and "H3al0rz".

Oh, the candles may look wrong, but the fire marshal complained. So the pink ones are worth 1 each, and the green ones are 5 I think....

Couldn't something be done to re-encourage players to seek them? It need not be a serious need, nor an adjustment that causes the game to flop over to Accolades over I/Os, just something that makes players pause and reconsider them into their builds.
I really don't think that people are going to plan thier builds based on Accolades, unless the Accolades get really silly overpowered.

But if you want to get the gamers to really stand up and notice a new set of Accolades, then granting Mez Protection, KB Protection and Recharge would do it. I know that I would be highly interested.
Accuracy, not so much. Any good IO build is likely to have Acc boosted to pretty high levels anyway, and likely far sooner than it will have Accolades achieved.

    Quote:
I am not suggesting long grinds nor do I think they should be reguired, however, Accolades should be more a part of the game than they have, in my opinion, sunk to being. That is why I suggested some new ones to add and others need to be looked at for their time consumption vs reward compaired to I/Os.
    I agree.
Think about the new accolade powers that you would want to have, then come up with a name for the accolade, and a set of badges that would be appropriate (both in Theme, and in the difficulty/time to achieve) to that accolade.

    The Accolades

I think it's fair to say that Inventions aren't the only reason that Accolade-grabbing has fallen to the wayside.

A fair number of people have looked at the Accolades and seen that for many of them, there are badges included that they feel are a "grind-fest" to get.
For me, there are a number of badges that I won't seek.
For Born in Battle: "Suffer 1 million Damage", formerly "Suffer 10 million". If it happens, which for some of my characters it will, fine. But I won't go out of my way to farm for it.
I don't mind "Raider" (5 hours in Siren's), but "Lanista" (win a Gladiator match) is not for me.
Marshal requires "Annihilator" badge from the LRSF. Sorry, locked (team-only) content to me.
Megalomaniac requires "Crystal Keeper" from Ice Mistral SF. Locked out.

Some Accolades are fairly easy for me. High Pain Threshold, Invader (If I'm careful enough to grab the explores w/o outleveling the mayhems, since you can't Ouro the Mayhems), Force of Nature and Demonic spring to mind.

But some folks get the picture of Accolades requiring farming/grinding in a way that is unpleasant to them, so they blow off bothering to get any of them.
Add this to the new-ness and the "Shiny" wearing off and you have fewer people questing for accolades.

Ingame, what would tell new players to look for Accolades, other than one vague hint that occasionally pops up in the loading screen?
I see very little documentation, other than here in the forums (and via a Wiki) of HOW to get the hinted-at accolades. Where IO's are everywhere and you can tell exactly what IOs give what set bonuses by simply perusing the Market.

Nah, this isn't the worst idea you've ever had.

Sounds like something that could be written up as a story arc.
It would have to consider the gender of spouse that the player's character would want to marry, which we don't know. I haven't checked Rhode Island laws, and I'm pretty sure anything goes in the Ettoiles for two or more sorta-consenting adults.

Sounds like it would require a new map or two. Indoors_Residential_Small
The buying a house mission would be pretty dull. A big-haired real estate lady, dealing with the mortgage broker, an hour or so of paperwork signing. Then getting windowshades, trash cans, a lawnmower...etc.

Who would be breaking into a L50's house that would be a threat?
Arachnos, PPD, Longbow, Malta or Crey seeking to kidnap your family to leverage against you.
Carnies wanting to recruit your daughter?
Clockwork wanting to recruit your toaster?
    Freakshow getting the wrong address?
CoT seeking that artifact that you retrieved for Azuria, but it's not at M.A.G.I. right now, so they assume you still have it?
    Nemesis wanting to...something very complicated.
Hellions/Skulls REALLY getting the wrong address. "Dude, it was gonna be a simple smash and grab. Get the VCR and some jewelry and split, ya know? Next thing, it's freakin' Captain Stupendous Man comin' outta da bathroom throwing lightning rays at us. The first three guys were turned to ash right in front of me. I ran like heck outta there. I seen him on the news poundin' on a 50ft robot single-handed, I don't think a pistol is gonna do me any good.
I can still smell the ozone, man.
I quit, man. I'm gonna get me a course in Air Conditioner repair and get a job with my cousin. A legitamate job."
