Quote:I find this idea rather amusing and support it as an alternate and additional to the existing flight emotes.Well, as much as I would love some sort of vehicle travel power, I doubt my dream of setting the world record for most Freaks cleared in a single motorcycle jump will come true any time soon. However, I do think there is a simple solution to add at least one pseudo-vehicle travel.
That's right. An invisible jet flight emote. Basically, just copy one of the sitchair emotes and viola! You are speeding around in your very own invisible flight capable vehicle of your choice. Even better, the customization is infinite! Does your jet come with an invisible sandwich bar complete with invisible hostess? You bet it does! Let your imagination run wild.
Quote:
Actually, this brings up a new question. How feasible would run emotes be? Because well, I'm not gonna lie. I'd sell my own Blackwand for an invisible jet-bike emote for Superspeed.
You can keep your Blackwand, though. I'd sell my own Nemmie Staff for a Prestige Sprint: Flee so that I can run like those flailing-arms panicked civilians.

Any one else out there support this?
Yes. I do. -
As we obsess about the Casual Player and his ability to support his little pixel-based family in these times, what is Poverty?
At what point is a character truly "Broke"? Too poor to afford a bucket to **** in or a window to throw it out of?
Is it that line where he has enhancement slots that are empty (or slotted with enhancements that have gone red...same thing) and he is unable to afford to replace them with his spendable wealth?
Or is the line somewhere higher? -
Quote:Ding!Honestly, it doesn't take any special savvy or know-how to dump your junk on the market for a couple of inf and rake in the profits.
There's no magic to it, it's just using the system that is explained to them in the tutorial.
I was waiting for the word "Tutorial".
People sometimes assume that the Casual Player has no knowledge of how IOs are crafted, when the University contact runs them through the process and hands them a shiny new crafted IO on the way out the door. -
I suppose it would, if Debt hadn't been nerfed to the point of being pretty much unnoticable, wiped out by the end of a single mission, assuming that Patrol XP doesn't nullify it on contact.
But in that vein, we now have the ability to turn off XP, so there's really no reason for anyone to run around unable to fill thier enhancement slots with functional enhancements of some kind. -
I'm convinced that with any use of the Market to sell your drops it's actually very difficult to be "poor" unless you try.
Oh, and I've always held that XP debt was actually GOOD for the pocketbook. How can earning at the normal rate and gaining enhancement slots at a slower rate NOT translate to having more Inf per level on the way to L50? So whichever Casual Gamer who dies a lot in missions will actually benefit more. -

Ah, I see what your problem is.
You've been reading Atlas Park Broadcast. It's full of 100% of your FDA recommended daily allowance of Vitamin Dumb. -
I like this idea.
I could see this unlocking a special decorative item or too, as well as a base weapon that was particularly effective against foes of that group, should PvE Base Raids ever occur.
I could agree with the bonus of extra prestige when fighting against the prefered foes. -
Sometimes, when VU2010 gets quiet, I throw in a fake mistell to stir things up. One of them is currently someones sig on the boards.
"I know it conserves water, but peeing in the sink is considered nasty." -
Quote:I use it for a very particular thing.Although...does ANYONE still use the 'looking for patrols' option? It seems like a vestigal tongue.
Usually, I am flagged with the big red "NOT ACCEPTING". If I get an interest in a particular team that is advertising or a friend logs on, I switch it to "Looking for Patrol" and ask for the invite.
If I switch my flag to any of the other flags, I run the risk of being snagged with someone who is legitiimately looking for one of those other things (Missions, TFs, Any, etc.) and do not wish to waste thier time or mine with "Sorry, was looking for a team, but not yours."
Personally, l think that the whole thing should be revamped. Maybe a "Looking for AE"? But also, some sort of tutorial in it's use or at least a much greater awareness that we even have a flag system. It's bad that when hitting L4, the trainer tells me "To invite others to team, right-click on them!". Back Alley Brawler is telling me to blind-invite by line-of-sight? Whaaaaaaaat? That's just wrong. -
Apparently so.
Also: Merge the servers, Raise the Level Cap, Officially santioned RMT sales direct from the company and Open PvP in every zone via flagging on/off by character.
I think Power has the day off, or we might see more interesting suggestions. -
Quote:Originally, my standard was L14.I'm finding myself "not being able" to take a travel power until very late in the build...around the 40's.
What's the latest you ever picked up a travel power?
Then, after Mayhems/Safeguards came into the game bringing temp travel powers, my standard was L24 (for exemplaring to Bloody Bay).
Now, with the new SSK/Exemplaring rules, I suppose I could put them off until L30.
I've only once gone with the "no travel powers ever" build (SR scrapper...didn't need it.) and once ran a Kinetics Corruptor who used Siphon Speed and Inertial Reduction for travel...then respecced out of IR because CJ/SJ was better.<Insert Rant Here>

Quote:That's the first time that I've heard that counter-suggestion to this. Interesting. But you're welcome to add extra numbers or letters...or @Joe_Blow to the end of them if you so please. The problem is, you know that adding @Joe_Blow to the end of them is ugly, and you don't want to be the only one forced to carry this ugly burden. You want to inflict it on EVERYONE. That way, your ridiculous naming convention wouldn't look so bad by comparison.
But on <servername>, Joe Blow was taken and the OP didn't want to go with "Jo Blow", "Joe Bloh", "Jo3 Blow." or other silliness to fake the name?
Was anything wrong with "Joe Shmoe", "Joe Normal", "Joe Sixpack" or "Joseph Blow"?
Edit to Add: I'd like to direct the OP to Virtue's Name thread, where he could request that whoever has the name on a character they're not using could help him out. They're pretty good about that.
On the topic of the suggestion itself, <cut-and-paste Sam's post here>. -

Quote:Why not?Yes, I know that you can get a random roll for 8 tickets. Why not get rid of the random rolls and allow us to buy specific common invention salvage for 10-20 tickets?
We can choose specific uncommon and rare salvage, why not commons?
I always found it a bit odd that Uncommons and Rares were "pick it as you like", yet Commons were "grab bag".
More options is usually a good thing.
Let's go for a "pick a specific" Common salvage.
Heck, I wouldn't care if they added a "grab bag" option for Uncommons (which I'd probably NEVER use) and Rares (which I might, if I were in the mood). -
Oh, I would very much want a "Master of Fail" badge.

Hmm....
Better Inf-> Prestige conversion rate?
Base Item: Remote Wentworth's Access. (A laptop set for Ebay and a pnuematic mailing tube?)
Base Rent Autopayment option? -
Quote:As a returning player (from before I-9?) , you have a lot to catch up on.Returning player that last played prior to crafted IO's. I've got a number of toons ranging from 1 up to about level 40. As with most folks I'm a chronic altaholic so tend to bounce around but I'd really like to focus on one toon to get up to 50 and experience CoX endgame before moving on to something else
A character that was created before I-9 and is midway on levels is likely much poorer financially than a character that was started afterwards and has only leveled in recent times. Since you are slotted in SOs and will have to replace them constantly as you level, you may run into a financial bind.
You now have the option to toggle on/off XP gain (you will notice that leveling is much faster than before). Toggling XP off means simply that, and you will recieve the same rate of Influence/Drops. So it is an option, should you be facing being unable to afford replacing your SOs as they rot.
With a little bit of attention to detail, your new characters will not experience this problem on thier way to L50. Not sure what your "Toons" will do, though, but likely they will be well-stocked on anvils, banana cream pies, Acme products and whatever else they require. -
Quote:"But what about Accolades?"I want to be able (for a micro payment), to merge my badge lists from one character to another. My 'main' is the one I badge with, great alt but he feels like an also ran, a minion, and it's starting to bug me. I have another alt that I would love to play more of, but he's tends to get shelved in favor of the badger - shame really.
There's the question. Should a badge-hunter be allowed to earn all of the Accolades on his L1s as soon as they are rolled?
My answer is NO, and my work-around is thus:
Allow for what I call "Shadow Badges". Badges copied but unearned (on that character) will be able to be seen on the badge list, and used as titles, just not usable towards Accolades until they are earned the normal way on that character.
Edit to add: Badges earned on other characters would indeed unlock weapon skins, ("Untouchable" on your Scrapper would unlock the Tommy Gun for your next Blaster) and Costume pieces, as applicable (See: Witch Hat) -
Quote:Some badges are account-wide, and based on the player's actions, rather than that of the individual character.Well, I see that you changed your OP to reflect my question. In that case, I still say no. Not even if it is just for anniversary badges and others that do not effect game play. Badges are the rewards for the things a certain toon did. Not just something to be trraded to other toons.
And to answer your question, in your OP, you said " merge badge accounts" not badge lists like you changed it to.
Examples: Veteran Badges, rightfully so, as they're based on the Player keeping his/her account active over time.
Also, many of the AE badges, although I'm not sure that I agree with that decision on thier part.
I can see the reasoning behind keeping most of the individual accomplishment badges character-specific. Obviously, a character I roll out of Outbreak should not be sporting 1 million damage taken (that would take some serious farming to achieve), Unvieler (No Nemesis in the tutorial) and "X Debt repaid" badges (No debt calculated until higher level).
But Anniversary Badges? I could see the reasoning of "I was around at that time with an active account and logged in at that time.".
Sure, it would be a stretch, but it would make as much sense to log in to a bunch of AE badges.
Personally, I want to see the Anniversary badges accountwide for selfish reasons. I have all of them, but not on the same character. I would like to delete one particular character, but hate to see his badges go, as he was my main badger for a while. -
Nah, a Flood of corrections would have to include that the OP's signature should be editted to change the third word in the second sentence to "Is", rather than "In", and that "Ture" in the third line should be "True".
Thank you.
That would be a correction. -
Quote:FYI: IO's don't expire as you level.
So, my question is ... Should I be trying to slot crafted (normal) IO's or just stick with stacking SO's up to 50? Is it worth it to craft/purchase the IO's every 5 levels or will SO's generally do just about as well and save me the time?
Also: higher-level IOs outperform SOs, particularly IOs that enhance more than one aspect. (Example: Acc/Recharge vs plain Recharge)
A full set of L40ish IOs in a six-slotted attack can grant 66% Acc/Recharge/EndRed and 98% Damage bonus. Can't get there using SOs.
Quote:
While I'm asking ... What about set enhancements? At what point does it really become beneficial to begin looking into some sets? Should that wait until level 50 or begin in the 40's or ???
Thanks a ton for any insight you guys may have. Hopefully, with the double XP weekend coming up I can maybe power out my first level 50 toon!
Well, it depend on what you have for powersets.
If you have a Defence-based character, such as Super Reflexes, look at your Combat Attributes screen (accessible via your powers tray, just click on the word Powers to pop up a menu, the click on Combat Attributes.)
Check out exactly how much Defence you have with all your toggles running. Maybe consider adding Defence set bonuses until you get around 45% in each.
If you have a Regeneration based character, consider going for +HP and +Regen to try to cap it out.
Recharge is a popular thing to aim for.
Damage bonuses are not very commonly found in set bonuses, so I wouldn't worry much about them.
There isn't a lot of sets that offer much in the way of Resistance bonuses, but if you have a Resistance-based character, you might want to look at adding a few to stack with your existing values.
Money is a problem?
Don't worry about it. While the very tip-top enhancements are very expensive, the second-best offer nearly as good of return for far less expenditure. As you level in a post-Market CoH, you will rack up the Inf by selling your unwanted recipe/salvage drops at the market. By doing so, I've seen that direct Inf dropped by foes is less than 1/7th of my total income.
Be aware that some stuff is high demand/low supply (the good stuff), some is high supply/low demand (Snipes, Slows, Immobs) and much is in between. -
Prediction:
Within one month of I-17, a player will post:
{{I'm angry! I want my money back! I sent X Million Inf to my alt ".SuperName" and it went to some complete stranger named "SuperName"! He won't respond to my tells or Emails demanding it back. I should get it back and he probably doesn't even play anymore and should get banned and I should get the name, too! <rest of angry rant>!}}
Predicted Response:
"If the Lottery is a tax on people who can't do math, this is a tax on people who can't spell thier own character's names."
And I shall laugh. -
Here's the quote:
Quote:Would be interesting if we were to get a slider of "Only accept Email containing X amount of Inf or higher".In-Game E-mail: You can now use in-game e-mails to send Influence/Infamy to your own characters or to other players' characters via in-game e-mails. (You still cannot send Influence, Infamy, or items from a Hero to a Villain or vice versa.)
Spammer wants my attention? Gotta make it worth my while before I flush it down the delete&ignore bowl.
Will be interesting to see if there is a "Postage Fee" for this Inf transfer service that is reasonanly more reliable than the Market. Hello, Inf sink.
Remember the expression "The lottery is a tax on people who can't do math"?
If your Inf gets intercepted while Emailing to yourself, it's a tax on people who can't spell thier own character's names. I can't wait for the first angry posts from guy who wanted his alt xXxSuperBadgerxXx to get his sugardaddy's Inf, but accidentally mailed it to oOoSuperBadgeroOo instead. I will laugh most heartily. -
Quote:This somehow bothers me. I'm completely thumbs-up for the rest of the Issue, except for Ulta-mode graphics, which thankfully are optional.
In-Game E-mail: You can now use in-game e-mails to send Influence/Infamy to your own characters or to other players' characters via in-game e-mails. (You still cannot send Influence, Infamy, or items from a Hero to a Villain or vice versa.)
Sending Inf to your alts is something I was always "meh" about. Every character can be completely self-sufficient, so it isn't needed, and there are a number of workarounds to get the transfer done. But it is a welcome QoL improvement to do so. I always treated Inf transfers to alts as being a treat, not the all-important NEED that some claimed it was. Because it wasn't.
But sending $Inf via Email to other people's characters? How often would anyone other than a RMT customer need this? Can't you simply have one of the recipient log onto thier alt and do the transaction face-to-face via the existing trade mechanism? I suppose that it would make RMT buyers more confident, knowing that they don't have to share thier account passwords to recieve thier ill-gotten gains. (Just thier credit card numbers...hah! Good luck with that.)
But, I have decided not to get too concerned until I see some actual details about this.
Example:
*Is there going to be a "postage fee"? We've already seen discussions about the need for Inf sinks, and with the Market taking a chunk of Inf during Inf transfers, I could see a fee for using a service that is more reliable and safer for doing the same thing.
*Is there going to be a maximum amount, less than the soft Inf Cap of 2 Billion? I don't imagine so, but we'll see.
Time will tell.
