Quote:I think that rather than a "free respec", you're thinking of a "free rename".Many players have been complaining about the lack of names in populated servers like Virtue and Freedom. So what about devs give us access to names possessed by accounts inactive for 3 or more years, names with no globals and those possessed by trial accounts inactive for 2 or more years?
There would be twist, however: If any of those accounts become reactivated again, the original owners gain possession of the name again and the newly rolled toon with the same name gets a free respec.

Edit: Please don't go all DOOOM! on this. This is more of a subject for chit-chat that a demand.
Hmm....
If I were to recieve a name that was a "loaner", I'd want advance notice that it was possible to lose it without notice at any given time later. Personally, I'd choose a different name instead. -
Quote:Ditto.I think it's too low. I think it should be 35 minimum. At least make people experience half the game before unlocking Epics.
Not my call though.
Thought L35 woulda been a better unlock point than 20, if levels were going to still be a measurement and lowered from L50.
But....not my call either. Can't say that I care much either way anymore. -
Quote:I didn't think that a character's level gave anyone the right to "lord over" anyone else. I don't think that many people really care.Steampunkette
"Having Anime characters running around with six wings lording over two-winged people as "Lower Level" just boggles the mind."
Isn't that what we do as LvL 30+ with Auras?
Some guy running around in spandex...Hmm he's prolly below lvl 20.
Some guy running around in spandex, and a cape...Hmm he's lvl 20 or higher.
Some guy running around in spandex, a cape, and an aura...Hmm he's at lease lvl 30.
I do however like the idea of making them unlockable, but have miminmum lvl requirements.
That L5 that just ran by? Could be a 5-year vet with a dozen+ L50s and a new alt. That L50 standing there under the AP globe? Could be a guy who bought his account last month and got PL'ed.
But in general, I do like unlocking things. I run the Aura mission every time, even though I never use auras. (Well, that and it gives XP and I might change my mind later about whether to use an aura.) -
Quote:Ah, thank you for providing examples. I had not heard of those, since I've never really gotten into anime.Try looking into Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica, but the anime isn't the point Porky, the wings are.
Edit:
Link to Paragonwiki page showing the existing wings: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Wings
Having multiple pairs of wing costume pieces attached to a single point doesn't sound too feasible, if I read the above posters. (And, IMO a pair of Bat wings plus a pair of burned wings plus a pair of Insect Wings would probably look like garbage.)
But what about a single costume piece that consists of 4 or 6 wings based on a single anchor point? Doable?
Although, based on the OP's first post, would probably have to be an unlockable item. And hopefully make sense in a game based on Western-hemisphere comic book culture.
I'm not convinced that there's a HUGE audience out there for this, but I'm willing to listen. -

Quote:1) Not much of a point, other than fluff.1) What really is the point of origins? This is a question as well as suggestion.
2) Are they there for something more than just rp purposes and titles?
3) What really is the point of picking an origin?
4) Do you get something special for being a mutant or a magic wielder besides the inherent attack?
5) Why isn't there anything special about picking an origin?
6) Why are their no perks? I've been wondering this for a while.
7) Can we get some origin inherents or perks for picking a certain origin...? I never really got the real point for between picking them besides maybe starting contacts and enhancements.
8) Would it be bad if they added something that effects gameplay?
2) Not by much.
3) Not much, other than what you think is cool.
4) Bonus Damage for taking Blackwand over Nemmie Staff as your first Vet.Ranged attack. (Tech/Science get that bonus for Nemmie Stafff, Natural get it for either.)
5) Because there doesn't need to be? Well, other than not being science means you can start in GC and not have to fight Vahzilok.
6) See above?
7) We already do. They're just very minor.
8) This late in the game where you can't re-choose your origin? How loud do you think the outcry will be when folks see that origins other than thier own get stuff that they wanted more than what they got? -
Reminds me of when we had our son baptised. He was under a year old and fell asleep just a little bit before the priest sprinkled water in his face. He woke up and gave the priest a heckuva dirty glare.

With the Positron TF (one of the earliest, yet worst TFs, giving the new player the feeling of "Why do TF's? They suck!") finally getting a revamp after all these years, I'm surprised that we haven't already seen more revamping of old content.
This isn't a new or unique request, and post-CoV, we've seen that the Devs do listen to our grumblings and do improve on the old way of doing things. Now if only to port some of those improvements into the "old game" of the original blueside contacts.
Oh, and another thing. Having the contact's mission doors be in the same zone as the contact, whenever it makes sense, would be good. -
I think that we are in general agreement.

I'd click on it, but likely I'd just have to throw you on ignore due to a rule I have.
1 Rickroll=1 Ignore. -
Quote:1) Replace some of the Fed-ex missions with just text of "Alright, I sent that stuff over to OtherContact and he said..". (Reduced Merit Rewards for shorter arc?)Its a sea of fed-exes, defeat alls, hunts and, generally, suck.
2) Defeat Alls.....wait, you mean some missions aren't? (Sorry, I R Broot or Scrapper.)
3) Hunts. *sigh* Reduce to 20-25 foes at most. Seriously. "Hunt 40-50 X" is just a way to burn a mission drop on an intentional and obvious waste of a players time on a task that's not particularly attractive. (If it was, there would be more street sweeping.)
4) Cell Phone sooner on old Blueside arcs. -
Roderick: I think that you're thinking of [Inertial Reduction].

Quote:Good question. I already have a "Smashing Damage+ KB/KD/KU" character by taking SuperStrength and throwing procs into any power that didn't already have a Knock-* effect in it.......So......What is the difference going to be in Kinetic Melee from either super strength or energy melee?
It will either be all smashing, all energy, or a mixture of the two, and it's apparent that it's "thing" is going to be knockback/down/(up?) effects, possibly with a few specials thrown in. But just changing the secondary effect alone isn't really enough to differentiate it. HOW is kinetic melee going to be able to stand alone without seeming like a secondary cosmetic option for either super strength or energy melee? -
Quote:My wife and I had that conversation once. She would use teleportation to not have to leave for work so early and sleep in a little later, then decided it would be good to go on vacations at will. (No airfare charges, no hotel charges as you can sleep in your own bed every night.)This is a very possible reality... Though it's not a matter of what a person with powers goes through so much as what a person goes through. People are more prone to the shortest route as opposed to the "Best" or most moral. If you asked someone the first thing they'd do if given the power of teleportation -many- would immediately discuss teleporting into banks or places of wealth, stealing something, and leave.
However, I like to imagine that people would take a higher or more noble road and, instead, live out their childhood power fantasies by becoming the hero. Perhaps I'm too much of an idealist!
I thought about that and the TP'ing into banks as well, then decided that TP Foe would be a better villianous power. (Or heroic if you count TP'ing hostages out of a standoff or TPing robbers directly into an armored paddy wagon.) -
Quote:I like that you seem to have good intentions and a positive attitude, and thus I don't see this as a rant. Those are unhelpful, non-constructive and pointless.End-of-Game
Once a toon hits lvl 50 most players 'lose the love' and move onto a new toon. The reason is because there are no more 'fun pellets' for pressing the buttons in the skinner box. So lets introduce some. Up to level 50 the 'fun pellet' was a new level, and rather than simply extending the level limit (again) can we think of something new.
New missions and zones only work for a short time, they are like changing the colour of the 'lights' in the skinner box, but no new 'pellets'.
There already are 'fun pellets' - set recipies, but they come so infrequently that there is not enough reward to justify continuing to press the button. So lets increase the reward frequency (a little). If level 50's could directly purchase Reward Merits for Influence (at a reasonable rate) then it would be worthwhile playing a level 50 toon. It would also lead to mis-use as each player used their lvl 50 to equip all their other toons with full sets. So maybe a lvl 50 could directly purchase lvl 50 (or 53) set recipies from the Merit Vendor for influence. Or create yet a new 'Reward' point system just for lvl 50s which could be used to purchase lvl 50 (53) set recipies.
......
That ends my rant.
If no-one disagrees with this you can call me 'The Chose One', but since we are not clones I am positive that if you are reading this you disagree with some or all of it. I would welcome suggestions on how to also meet the issues I see in the game. But since none of them stop me from playing the game I will continue to 'live with them' and 'Don't worry - be Happy'.
Anyway, with your statement, I somehow get the feeling (you didn't state it, but..) that you don't slot IOs until L50 and don't use the Market to buy/sell IOs on the way. Be aware that those mid-L40s-ish recipes are almost as good as straight L50s, and those L30-40ish ones are quite servicable. Throwing a few of those into your build on the way up will reduce your feeling that your freshly-dinged L50 has a lot of work to do to get fully kitted out. -
Quote:Yes, I have a few thoughts on this.As the title says - it'd be nice to have the means to lower your level on demand; it would help players with the "neighborhood protector" concept characters, where rewards of experience are desired {powers and enhancement slots} but the actual level increase isn't {outleveling the zone critters}.
It could work by talking to either the trainer or the recon officer for the zone, who would present you with the option of exemplaring to one of the levels within the zone's range. The zone range limitation is mostly for the sake of UI, as it would use the usual dialogue interface, rather than something more fancy, and thus harder to code for.
Suggestions for exiting the self-exemplar mode would be either a} talking to the trainer/recon again, b} a slash command or c} a dialogue box activated by clicking on the XP-circle.
Any thoughts on this?
1) My earlier statement regarding being able to do Newspaper/Mayhem (Or Radio/Safeguard) missions: Would your proposed idea allow this?
2a) Should I enter, say, Steel Canyon and exemplar to the zone, would I be able to join an existing team, and if so, would SSK over-ride it to SK me to the new team? (I assume so.)
2b) Upon exiting that team, would the Zone-SK resume or be dropped? (Unfair question: probably no way to tell how it would be implemented) 2c) Same question as 2b, but the team had done several missions in different zones, ending in Atlas Park. Are you ZSK'ed to Steel, Atlas or your natural level?
3) Exemplared to Steel Canyon again: I have previously unlocked a contact there, but outleveled him, which put him in the "Inactive Contacts" tab. Would he now be accessible for missions, and if so, would his contact bar actually fill up? (I can Ouroboros him, but the contact bar remains empty. I dislike that.) -
Hmmm....
I see the ability to do outleveled Mayhem/Safeguards that way.
I like it for that reason. -
Quote:I would like a Teleporter that fits in the same space, but allows three or more beacons.Bases
Please bring back the free minimum size base. Some players like their 'Fortress of Solitude'
Also you have had 'Basic Teleporters' for years now. Are you going to release 'Advanced Teleporters' which allow three (or more) teleport locations?
In a base I can store Enhancements (reasonable), Salvage (reasonable), and Inspirations (!!). Let me repeat that, I can store an 'inspiration' in a device and another toon in the supergroup can get it out and use it even if they have never met me. However I cannot store a recipie. Shouldn't a recipie be easier to store than an inspiration? Please allow recipie storage devices. And on the same lines, please increase the maximum number of storage devices for a base. We hit the base limit way before we hit the limit for each room. Since I am ranting ... umm 'talking' about base storage if you allow 'inspiration' storage why not allow 'influence' storage. It makes as much sense and then people in the same supergroup can easily transfer influence around without having to make sure they are both online at the same time.
This is also a back-door approach to allowing a player to transfer influence between each of their toons. Obviously many players want this and so obviously the devs have decided not to give it to them. They have a variety of reasons and explanations, but they probably come back to the same root belief of maintaining game balance.
Also We can throe a person out of a supergroup when they are offline, but cannot promote or demote them when they are offline. Please allow offline Promotes, Demotes, and invitations to a supegroup.
I would like to fit two beacons into the 2x1 (smallest) Teleporter room. (Would help make my hallway with teleporter alcoves.)
What recipes other than Costume Pieces (cheap), Temp Powers (usually cheap) and Respec Recipes (rather expensive!) can you not craft and store as enhancements? I guess Recipes could be stored. Increase the capacity of the Salvage Rack (30 is a tad small) to a larger number and have a Recipe take up say, 5(?) times the amount of space as a salvage piece?
Offline SG Invites? Only from Gfriends or my Alts, please. Don't want another round of SGI-spamming. Would be nice to easily invite my alts, though by having one of my characters toss an invite to another of mine. -

So lets introduce some. Up to level 50 the 'fun pellet' was a new level, and rather than simply extending the level limit (again) can we think of something new.
This game has always been not just alt-friendly, but alt-encouraging. It's good for experienced players to roll new alts, team with new players and inadvertantly be thier teachers.
Quote:New missions and zones only work for a short time, they are like changing the colour of the 'lights' in the skinner box, but no new 'pellets'.

L50's have a startling ability to gather $Inf simply by playing the game normally and using the Market in the most basic way.
Seriously.
Those L50 common recipes will vendor for around $100K each, those SO's that drop are worth a fair chunk of change vendored and those Set Recipes that drop....well, some of them are worth more at the Vendor than the Market, but some are worth a lot of $Inf at the Market (Wentworths/Black Market depending on your bent). By a lot I mean multi-millions for some.
And any Salvage that you don't personally need for crafting can be sold for $Inf at the Market, usually for more than the Vendors will give. I would laugh at the idea of taking 5000 Inf at the vendor for rare salvage that sells for 1-2 million.
If you say that buying good Set Recipes at the Market is too expensive, then you are forgetting that prices are equally high for you when you bring equally good recipes to sell.
Every green-con or higher foe is a potential pixellated pinata` for your $Inf needs. So "go, hunt, kill stuf". -
My Votes:
1) Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers-style future zone, perhaps on the moon.
2) Egyptian.
3) Lost World. -
Pawn Shop Owner: So, Skull-Crusher McEvilton, what brings you into my shop today?
SCM: Got, um, like twenty digital cameras. Like new, only dropped once.
PSO: Been farming Tech Salvage. eh? -
FYI: Using the power {Foot Stomp} in a sewer map doesn't make a splash.
