Quote:Perhaps so. I have plenty of unused slots on Servers that I don't use, and a few slots on servers that I DO use.Couldn't you also make a few storage alts and mail them lewt from your normal alts using the new mail system`?
But:
1) Now is as good a time as any to move dayjob locations on the alts, and grab the Anniversary badge on each.
2) Rumored bug regarding the new RMTmail possibly dropping/losing items. I'll wait until the rumor, whether true or false, expires. While it's good to learn from your mistakes, it's more painless to learn from the mistakes of others. -
Quote:I like the idea of running in, destroying a couple of support beams (destroyable objects), setting a bomb or two, then running out, sorta similar to the Arson side missions.I'm not against the idea itself, but I feel that the concept of "punching a building until it falls down" is a bit... Unwieldy. Perhaps allowing us to enter the building and smash its supports would be a good alternative. That is, of course, unless you want the sort of Red Faction: Guerilla meets Katamari Damacy sort of utter destruction of everything, which might not be a bad idea...
But instead of the model of a good building having smoke added to the exterior later, we could have a ruined husk of a building having a fake "skin" of an intact building over the top of it, to be removed when the sidemission is completed.
Quote:But NOT in landmark locations, and probably not in Mayhem missions, either.
Sure, there's the question of why didn't they rebuild Boomtown if rebuilding is that fast, but...um.....there's neither voters nor taxpayers in that section of town?

On that note, here's something that I've wanted to see for a while - breakable walls inside instanced missions. We already have the technology in the form of breakable doors, like the ones that keep us inside jail cells on maps with jails. What I'm suggesting is to make a part of the wall act like "a door" that is fitted into a corresponding hole in the wall that's not breakable. That way, we can attack the breakable section of wall and punch through. Even if the technology is not ideal, I'm sure the concept would fire up many people's imaginations. -

Quote:Based on the amount of damage an exploding building can do (Steel Canyon fires), just be sure you're willing to take that hit.Personally, I'd be satisfied if they changed mayhem missions to be less about petty vandalism and more about mayhem and destruction. I want to go in and say, "Boom! Take that apartment building!" not "Boom! Take that payphone!"
Okay, snarky comment aside, that would be fun. They would have to have a boatload of HP. Significantly higher than the cars and trucks that are tough for lowbies but nothing to higher-level characters. -

Speaking of Magic Stores, how about the time that the signs for them read "El Super Mexicano"?
Now we know that beans aren't the sole source of his powers. -

Wow! Is it true that Stone Tanks looked horrible and was nicknamed "Poo Armor"?

I would dearly love a Chainsaw melee set, and unlike all of the new powersets ever introduced in the game, I would not wait until the initial rush of "OMGmustplaynewpowersetNAO!!" players lost interest. I would be one of those players.
Edit:
Quote:I originally envisioned Chainsaw as merely "Broadsword, but DoT". Having some Fear and soft control, along with swapping out the heavily used -Def component common to Lethal sets with a more interesting (IMO) -Regen effect makes me like this set more.CHAINSAW (Melee)
Available to: Brutes
Set Color: Dark Yellow
Animation Notes: Should be the near-antithesis of Dual Pistols flashiness. Simple, harsh movements, with the exception of Brandish, which is all about giving an exaggerated display.
The Chainsaw is a slow and unweildy weapon with a penalty to accuracy, but the damage it deals is second to none. It leaves hideous wounds that heal poorly, retarding their regeneration rate, and sometimes bleeding for additional damage.
7) Brandish – you rev your chainsaw loudly and wave it around menacingly, causing enemies around you to cower in terror. Recharge: Slow
8) Gore – a devastating attack so traumatizing to watch that nearby enemies may enter a state of shock, snapping out of it if they themselves are attacked. If the target survives, its regeneration rate is drastically slowed, and it suffers a terrible wound that deals additional damage over time. Damage: Extreme Lethal Recharge: Slow

I have a Fire/Kin Corruptor from 1860's Moldavia, based on Baron Zoria's assumed travel path between Russia and England, and myself making up a non-canon conflict between the Prince of that country and assuming that a pre-Thorns Zoria could have had a previous cult under his control.

Quote:What my problem was: I could release the movement keys and they would act as if I had pressed them for at least twice as long as I had, resulting in bizarre movement patterns.Huh? Could you point me to that? I suspect I might be seeing that, but I thought it was a crappy mouse that I had to swap my old for because my new rig doesn't have a PS2 and I'm a Luddite who still uses PS2 keyboard and mouse.
Apparently, this was related to my ATI videocard. Why? I've no idea.
The solution for my particular problem was here:

Your problem may be different. -
Quote:Gee, Uncle Tony, tell us about the Good Old Days!Look, Sonny, back when I was a CoH kid, we didn't HAVE markets. Hell, we didn't even have those fancy-schmancy recipes or IOs, either, that all you kids are raving about. Back in my day, a million influence could buy you baskets of anything you wanted. And you know what? We LIKED it!
...
Oh, crap, I just realized that that is actually true...
Is it true that you could only transfer a hundred thousand Inf at a time from one player to the next?
That you had to use goofy-named Enhancements like "Polonium Irradiation" and "Nuetronium Injection" and hoped that they enhanced the attribute you wanted? -
I'm loving the color-coded Recipe Drops. Before this, I was obsessively checking every Recipe dropped. Now, only if I see Yellow or Orange. Otherwise...meh, "What's another generic to vendor?".
Yes, the input lag thing ground me to a halt. A quick question asked on VU and I was pointed to the forum thread with the answer. A few minutes later and all was well.
The new emotes were fun to play with while I bounced around Boomtown with my 4yo on my lap using /e jackhammer and /e picklock to "fix the broken cars". -
-
So I had a mission in Boomtown.
My 4yo was sitting in my lap and asked to see my character to go use the train. So I tell him, "No, the big guy has to go see a policeman and use a tunnel."
I head over to the Steel->Boomtown entrance and "Talk to the policeman".
Enter Boomtown and start SJ'ing to the mission. 4yo comments on the "boroken" cars. I end up spending several minutes using /e Jackhammer and /e Picklock on the cars.
Anyone else enjoying the new emotes? I figured that since this was Virtue.... -
Quote:To put it simply: Ouch.
Believe it or not, that's a real bug and people have lost valuable things to it. I myself only lost a Sleep Purple, so no big deal but I can only imagine someone out there lost something like a Panacea proc or a couple billion Inf to it.
Looks like I'll avoid using that feature for a few days, at least and will try to enjoy the improvements that have successfully been delivered. -

Quote:Seems a bit "Apples vs. Oranges" to me.Ignoring the question of whether people need compensating for the market being down; how exactly are server transfer tokens supposed to be appropriate compensation?
Now if upon the Market coming back, the "TP to Market" purchasable power was decreased in cost by 90% and an equally cheap "Tp to Mission" power was added in the Fixed Cost items, that would be good.
While they are working on the problem, I do hope that none of my items for sale (or recently purchased and awaiting my pickup) get deleted. I would be a bit unhappy. -
In the meantime, I'll just switch alts whenever thier inventory gets full of stuff I don't want to vendor for peanuts.
I need to move them around for dayjobs anyway. -
An early Lord Recluse to his minions:
"Quick! To the Arach-mobile!"
And if the situation called for it:
L.Recluse "Just what I need! My Arach-Shark Repellent!"
Mako: "Not ******* funny, boss."

Quote:Yeah, Defenders are the exact first thing I thought of.That's pretty much why I said that. I wouldn't MIND "AT-leaning" missions - or at least missions where ATs can finish them in some other way than "remove hitpoints, rinse, repeat" - but the problem, of course, is assuming they'll have some specific power. (Again, the poster child being "Defenders have heals," when I can roll out several of my own that don't.)
It's less of an issue with some ATs - for instance, every Blaster has a ranged attack, even if they (for some reason) totally ignore their primary. They've got to take SOMETHING that does damage at range. But you can't assume, for instance, that Doms or Controllers have an immobilize (skippable, and Illusion doesnt' have one at all,) or that MMs have pets. So "Designing for an AT" isn't quite so cut and dried.
I'm looking at the bolded statement above and reminded of my own FF Defenders.
I wouldn't want a mission where "keeping the ally alive" was the only way to win and where doing damage on your own was actively discouraged. Defenders do have Secondary sets too.
I've met a few teammates of every AT who could have used some more practice in applying thier particular AT/Powersets/build abilities to the fullest, and heck, I've BEEN that guy.
I'm thinking that only time, practice and possibly the tutelege of a good mentor would help that. -
Quote:I agree. While we could start with a known villain group having a base on the moon, there's endless possibility to what kind of foes could come from beyond the stars./signed, space could be used for a ton of things. Personally, i would like to use a small chunk of space rather than just the moon. But we'll have to do what we did in the 60's, start with the moon and go from there.
I also want an arc where Lord Recluse designs a gigantic Earth-based laser to carve his name on the moon, but is stopped midway by heroes in a new TF. And forever ingame, the animation for the moon rising over Paragon has "Lor_" pasted on it.
But the reference might be too obvious. -
