  1. The only thing worse than an underused, boring group with little background is one that isn't even worth a badge.

    Bleh.
I never get to be "first post after a redname". I get to be "first post after Power". It's like being picked last for Dodgeball.
  3. Paragon City is pretty good at making stout buildings too.

Go into any office building in the city. Notice how much unusable space is in there? Notice that there are no elevators on shafts long enough to reach three floors?

Our buildings are engineered so strong that they can have huge holes blown through them and be knocked 30degrees off of center and still stand. See Baumton "Boomtown" for proof.

With them, you will be wishing people would hush up and let you play in peace. Without them you will be wondering why the only place with people is Atlas Park or Cap au Diable, and then you will turn into one of those people who shouts in broadcast for a team and wonders why they never get one.
Even worse: many of those shouting on Broadcast don't know how to turn on thier LFT Flags, or don't bother.

Teaming is optional, so is soloing.
Your contacts will give you missions that are indoors, shared by no one but you and your team.
In Atlas Park, there are The Sewers, the first (and lowest level) "Hazard Zone" a large area for lowbies to face team-sized groups of foes, rather than the 2-3 critter groups on the city streets.

The biggest, baddest foes in the game are in the upper levels.
Archvillians usually require a team to defeat, and are presented in story arcs. Depending on the difficuklty level that you set for yourself and your team size, they may be bumped down to "Elite Bosses" in your missions.
Giant Monsters occur outdoors and are meant for multiple teams to defeat. There are "raids" where multiple groups set out to defeat certain Giant Monsters, such as the Hamidon.

The whole instanced thing doesn't really bother me. I just wanna know that I'm not alone out there. I played guild wars for the longest, and like DDO quite a bit.

    And what about the archetypes?
If you want a sturdy archtype blueside (hero) try Scrapper or Tanker. Heck, make one of each. This game is VERY alt-friendly.
The Tank will be a bit more welcome on teams, but is expected to understand agro control. The Scrapper will solo quicker, and may be better for a new player. There's a reason why Tank powersets are Defence>Attacks>Everything Else and Scrappers are Attacks>Defence>Everything Else.

These forums are a great resource, and so is ParagonWiki (Link in my sig!). I heartily recommend putting a link to it on your desktop for quick reference.

    Also: welcome to the game!
  6. 1) With or without the prerequisite newspaper missions? I'm assuming "with", even though that would be a rather odd (disjointed as one poster said) story arc.
Could set one faction as the one to do all 3-5 missions against, but you know folks would quit and restart if they got a faction they hate.

    2) Who would serve as the arc's contact? The Broker/Detective would provide a location to TP to from Ouro.

Feel free to add on this because I really didn't think this out for typing and I'm still new to forums.
    Welcome to the forums!

I like your idea (well, it's been suggested before, but anyway...) and I support it being implemented.

I'm a little leery of what the unlock would be, as I would like it to be available to small SG/VGs. Make the unlock too easy and it might as well simply be a straight up purchased (via Prestige) item.
((Hmm....I wonder if it's possible to detect if the Market and AE dayjobs are earned in SG mode or not?))
Personally, I'd have these items simply purchased via Prestige, and then decide what (if anything) they consume in terms of Power/Control from the base.

    Nah, Natural Origin is okay.

    Although:

    "Nope."

A "No Supers" clause would be hard to enforce.

Gotta DNA test all the atheletes for Mutations, scan them for cybernetics, blood/urine test them for Super Serums (okay, already done), cast Detect Magic on all of them. Then check on all of the coaches and staff.
You can't have a Gravity Controller or a Speed Boost caster in range, so then you gotta keep the crowd away.
  10. Methods to obtain outleveled Safeguard/Mayhem missions may include any of the following, or even combinations thereof:
    Friends, preferably with alts
Broadcasting in a level-appropriate (to the mission) zone.
    Asking on a Global channel.
Waving around a big sackfull of Inf.
A second account with level-appropriate alts.

    Nope.

Has been requested in the Suggestions forum though. The suggestion to make them available for folks that miss them/skip them while leveling had mostly favorable response, with only one or two dissenters in the thread that I took part in. Counter argument was: "Because some things should be difficult to get to or require planning."

I always wish it was more like Night crawler in XMen 2. Teleport over here, punch a guy in the face then immediately teleport and kick another guy in the knee etc.

I suppose then it wouldn't be a travel power, it'd be a combat power. But it would be nice.
I thought about that with a power I called "Combat Teleportation".
Toggle it on and you move in a series of jumps. Mechanically, it would be like a buffed Sprint with perhaps a +Def or something, but graphicly it would have you dissappear and appear repeatedly whenever you started to move. That's where the rub would be, I'm afraid to would be a lag-inducer for everyone around you. Maybe doable in a CoX2? CoX3 in 2030?
  16. Well, I've no idea how big the demand is (for a hover-less version of TP), but you probably remember that with the last change to TP there was both grumbling and rejoicing, so I assume that there would be *some* demand.

I'm just spitballing here, but.......: A Hover-less TP with the player's camera aimed downward from above could halfway simulate a "tunneling" travel power, couldn't it?

An admission of guilt: While some folks love TP, I've never enjoyed it in any form, and while I HAVE played it, I never played it for long.

  18. I wonder if it would be possible instead to do something like this:

Add an additional power to the Teleportation Pool: "Teleport Version B". By selecting this power, you may not take "Teleport Version A", and vice-versa. Both would be available at the same levels, but would be mutually exclusive.

For an example, look at how certain VEAT power selections work.

    Cloning.

  20. I see.

So as for the damage type:
    We have....
    Smashing
    Lethal
    Energy
    Negative Energy
    Fire
    Cold
    Psi
    and Toxic
    to choose from.

I could see the blade doing mostly Energy damage with 10-15% Fire or perhaps mostly Negative with a Cold component.

Would this be based on an item that exudes an energy-based blade, like a lightsaber?
Or would the user form the blade using thier abilities, like the sword-like attacks in Fiery Melee?

Just be sure to make it substantially different from either of those, as both of those come from companies that love to invite folks to the courtroom. Heck, Marvel already came after us back in the day over clones of thier characters running around. The term "undisclosed settlement" was used afterward.

The Server Selection screen lists the servers in the following order:

Top: Server you were last on
2nd: Server with the least CURRENT population (i.e. people logged on RIGHT NOW)
3rd: Server with the 2nd least...
4th: Server with the 3rd least...
    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...
Bottom: Server with the MOST people logged on right now.

Freedom has the most people, and was a good place to find PvP'ers for a while.
Virtue is second, with a friendly community and a lot of RP'ers.
Justice and I think Infinity have a lot of folks as well.

Anyway, check out the paragonwiki in my sig. There is an older version out there with "wikia" in the address: avoid it at all costs! (The wikia version has malicious links)

So, I can either put up a bid at one (or a few) levels and hope that those specific levels get posted and potentially missing one that got put up for sale at some other level; or I can blanket bid - which requires 18 slots and 72 million INF tied up......And I'd most likely end up with a couple of extra purchases that I didn't want [not a big deal if it's a high-demand item but with low-demand items it can be].

Being able to put in a bid in the manner of:
"1 Kinetic Combat Acc/Dmg, minimum level 32, maximum level 50, bid price 5 million"
would really make things smoother and more accessible.
    Agreed.

There are times when the ability to purchase exactly one recipe within a ten level range would be a lot more useful than the ability to purchase ten recipes of exactly the same thing at exactly one level.
