That's the thing about genius I guess, you always forget the easy stuff, and common sense.
You expect that they should. Why?

Why do we need another "Double the XP but not the recipe drops" weekend this weekend? Come to think about it, it's always a freakin' weekend. Why not a week? Monday through Friday.

How would that work? Would the precrafted ones just be random glowies introduced into missions, popping power icons into your power trays?
Or drop like enhancements do (from fallen foes) into your enhancement tray and then be sellable or able to be dragged into your powers tray?

    Interesting idea though.

    Mission Question

    Greetings, Fellow Brutes!

I tried this thing where you invite a fellow ne'er-do-well onto a mission with you and had the strangest experience. While he was an excellent conversationalist, he made a statement (that I barely overheard o'er the sound of the most glorious SMASH, but I digress) that puzzled me.
    "At least this isn't a Kill-All."
    What nonsense. What Poppycock!
All missions are "Kill-All", are they not? Isn't the purpose of life to SMASH your enemies, to see them herded beneath your SMASH and to hear the lamentaions of thier women?

    "not a Kill-All" Indeed.
    Pfft!

Honestly, reduce the Stealth level to that of the 1st tier Concealment pool power and make this a Temp Power Recipe.

I'd put in bids for it RIGHT NOW!!

And of course there's "Well, since I'm here I might as well just dump all my stuff on the Market rather than waste my time at a Vendor. This way *someone* might get some use out of it, even if it's just vendoring it themselves to make quick pocket change."

  8. Hey Bill!

Got a hypothetical one for you.

Take our current ruleset with agro and target caps, current enemies, etc.
Two teams of generally the same AT/powersets as the other.
One is SO-only, but ED is removed. The other is entirely slotted in Set IOs. (No Purples, No PvP recipes, but decent sets, the use of the market's hottest sellers allowed only in very limited supply)

Which would you rather bring to the table? I'm betting the IO team.
And without ED, I don't think we would have ever gotten the Invention system.

If IOs cost a lot of Inf, then go to the Market and sell the ones that you get from killing the bad guys. Then you'll have a lot of Inf to buy what you want.
  11. This is ED. (Enhancement Diversification)

I'm not surprised since World of Warcraft has their own mountain dew, everyday broadcast commercials, and of course MR. T. City of Heroes wasn't revealed to the world since E3 2003 since I remember. Our community is getting smaller and smaller what feels like everyday. Half of the servers are dead and hardly active, it seems it's harder to find a good supergroup or team that isn't PowerLeveling or Farming... All I'm saying it WILL be amazing if NcSoft could do some advertising towards all of their games. I just wish I could tell them upfront instead of hoping the'll see it on their forums.

WoW is the exception, not the rule. If you want to compare us to another MMO, compare us to just about anything else.
We're doing a lot better than Tabula Rasa, for example.

Yes, more advertising would be good.

Feel free to PM a redname.

Also when we can could have 15-30 imps at one time, that was awesome! I don't now why anyone would want this gone. Since we could take on and defeat a Monster solo with SOs. I loved that having all those imps, just standing back healing them : P Walking up to Kraken burning his butt!

I am not saying let MMs have as many as they want because they are already bad to the bone with 6

I bet we could get the devs to change it back! I am not saying make us gods or anything, just super powerful I know GR is going to make it so we can become stronger at level 50, but I want to be powerful before level 22.

Not saying I want to solo a 6+ team mission with everyone 4 levels higher, though that would be cool too. I just like feeling powerful,

If the foes are too weak we can make the stronger I mean really we can make them a little strong and make us like we were in 2004.

I don't think it fair we can have all these good memories but all the people who started in 2006 or later never got to feel super powerful... Before they were level 22 : P.
One set of L40-50 (mixed levels, averaging L45 or higher) IOs, six slotted into a power: 66% to Acc, Recharge, EndRed and 99% Damage (after ED takes it down a bit), plus Set bonuses that apply to every other power in my build. I'll take that over a build that could ignore ED, but was SO-only.

I was there in 2004 and the Good Ol' Days don't hold that much nostalgia for me that I want to go back.
Well, they could make Integration a toggle again though.

    More like:
"If someone's trying to coach a Little League team and insisting that the kids use thier face as the bat....." in the case of Team Leaders who insist on such play.

(Frankly, I'd ask if the coach is also the town's main dentist.)

I have NOT picked up anything special or anything rare yet that I could benefit from to create a decent build with NO purple IOs... Again you can go over to the Mastermind forums to look up any builds I have to see.
So...on the way to L44 you didn't get ANY decent recipe drops? On every character I have in that level range I have decent (by my standards, yours may vary) complete sets in every power that would benefit from it. And still have money left over for three of whatever come L45.

Have you been wasting your money by buying SOs when Common IOs drop like rain? Teaming maybe? You're a MM, you carry your own summonable team with you, and they don't suck up the drops like live teammates do.

Purple IOs is considered the lottery to me.. Meaning I will never consider having the ability to afford and use Purple IO sets.. This is also why I do not even try to PvP anymore.. Purple make that much of a difference.
Fine. I don't bother with Purples either.

End result everyone has mentioned either Farm and Market are optional and you can get enough money to buy stuff on market.. The reality is it just is not the facts. My character account is proof of that..

You are required to Farm or Market to obtain decent IOs or the money needed to purchase these IOs.
That has not been my experience. If you take "Market" to mean buying things to resell at a markup, then No, I do not Market. If you take "Market" to mean dumping my IOs at roughly half to two-thirds the average of the Last 5 (or just 100 Inf and go), then using the proceeds to purchase what I want, then Yes, I do "Market".
    Not sure about your definition.
    Quote:
You cannot just do this through regular game play is all I am saying.. Well in all fairness you can.. But it would probably take you 8 months of doing missions at level 50 to obtain the cash required for a decent non purple IO build..
False. When I hit L50 I already have decent non-purple IO builds.
Those sets that I have where the IOs vary wildly from L35-50? They are capped in thier main attribute (damage in the case of Crushing Impact or Thunderstrike, etc.) and good enough in thier secondary attributes (Rech/endred/Acc in those two sets) for my taste.
No, I don't bother with garbage like "Airburst".

There is no casual put your stuff on the market and wait for it to sell.. I do that.. I can't count the number of times I sell below the current lowest price, only to see the next day the item is selling for less then half.. My items sits on market for 2 weeks before I have to take it down to resell.
Other than obvious Vendor Trash, I actually DO just toss it on the Market. Evidently though, I just price it low enough to sell quicker than yours.

Many make this stuff sound easy. .Hey I do AE farms on Monday and Wed.. And I do ST/TF on Tues and Thurs.. Then on friday and sat I do missions.. Then sunday I collect all my money from the market stuff I sold..

Thats great if you have 7 days a week to play the game.. You shouldn't be forcing people to conform to a system to obtain something.. It should be optional..
I play one to two hours a day, 6 days a week. That's far from being a slave to the computer.

Odds are they are caught up in the Top # junk and only see you as a means to an end, 'cause if they have everything in the base they need, they don't need more prestige.
This, seeing that one person can pay the base rent doing two missions or less every two weeks.

My current SG is me, my alts and my stuff. It's also a chat channel for my friend, his brother and his son. It's a place where I can play with the base editor if I want.
It has all the stuff that I need, so there's no incentive to recruit. If I want chatter, there's the Global channels.

Might explain why redside the arcs give out fewer merits IME, but loading screens for the umpteenth time zoning for a mission arc from a contact who won't give out his cell until the last mission?
Running Emmert-era blueside arcs send me back redside after a while.

Individual missions each worth merits? Interesting. Team Leaders might run missions other than thier own and teammates might get merits for mission-holder's mission.
    Quote:

People do AE missions you get merit rewards..
The creator of the AE gets merits for people doing his missions..
A person is currently allowed to create 3 missions in AE..
If a player creates 3 missions and links them together consider it a mini TF, think Respec mission. Players get bonus merits for completing that.

You only get merits for completing missions.
You use the word mission in the above when sometimes "mission" works, and sometimes "story arc" would work.
I would expect that the first thing we would see would be strings of very short missions on very small maps to minimize time per mission. Number of merits rewarded would have to reflect this.
    Quote:
    AE farms..
You have 2 ways with this..
    1. Find the common denominator for these farms and code it from people obtaining Merits for completion.. They might get Experience, but nothing else.
    2. Hate to say it but warn and then punish repeat offenders of the AE system. Simple 3 strikes and your out.. You get warned 3 x and the AE is deleted. 4th time your locked from creating an AE mission for a week or so.. Do it again.. the ban is longer..
    3. Give people merits for reporting farm type missions.

Okay I know #2 is pretty rough and not great PR for the company.. Then your gonna have to make sure #1 is solid.. Or more solid then it is now.
Regarding #2, there is no need to be so lenient to allow two or three free passes and then a slap on the wrist. When you click {I Agree}, you agree not to use "Exploits or Cheats". Not great PR? Maybe, but is it great PR to be known as being just a place where farming/grinding is the norm and leveling normally via content is a lesser option? Think of MMOs with that reputation and decide whether that is a positive aspect of thier overall reputation.
Regarding #3, I'm wary of this. I remember an AE thread where the OP went on a tirade about farming (as in the MMO definition) and how there were so many cheaters and exploiters and yada yada. Then they posted over a hundred mission arc numbers that all had the word "Farm" in them. Many of those were farm-themed (as in barnyard with horses, chickens and bales of hay kind of 'farm') and were in no way indicative of farming as we know it in an MMO.
  22. A couple of times I put a fake MT into VirtueUnited to get things going. One of them was sigged here for a while by someone.
