My son, age 4, has been watching me play CoH for a while now. When my wife asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up: A super hero!
She asked him if he was going to have a sidekick: A Beater Robot!
Mental Image: A bank robbery thwarted by a giant robot, wielding a 2x4 in one claw and a hose filled with ball bearings in the other. Robber begging to be taken in by the police to make the beating stop. -
Quote:In two and a half minutes all she does is open her mouth, nod her head and look surprised.Obviously you all can tell I love me some robots news and since my friend likes to send me links to them, I share with you..
I present to you the newest: The robotic nurse. So close to making a Cylon skinjob I can taste it.
From what I was told she is a prototype for the new line of robotic nurses for the elderly and the handicapped on a personal level to alleviate loneliness and the depression.

You say Robot Nurse's design is to alleviate loneliness and depression?
Um, yeah, I can see a market for that. -
Quote:Try playing an Electric Brute.Do mobs even use endurance? I've never seen them unable to use a power because they've run out
An application or two of a well-slotted Power Sink, especially against custom AE enemies (whose authors wanted them to have every possible power in thier set to be MOAR X-TREME!!) and they will be waiting for End to come back or for thier weakest attack to recharge. -
Quote:My advice: Don't worry too much about the levels. And buying stuff in the L40-49 range will be a much better bang for your buck than only buying the L50 stuff for only the tiniest of performance difference.I have a lvl 50 Earth/EMP/Fire troller, and I want to "set" him up. Problem is the "money" required is hard to come by. Most likely, I just need to be a little more patient.
My question is: Do the lvls of the IO enhancers matter once the set is complete?
Buying lower level will mean that the set bonuses will stick with you as you exemp lower.
Prices aren't that bad if you stay away from the tip-top mostest high-demand stuff (Purples and PvP IOs). IMO, better bang for your buck by avoiding those. If you think that things are expensive to buy, remember that they are high demand and people will pay you well when you get them as drops and sell them, so it evens out.
$Inf isn't hard to come by in this game. It's thrown at you by the game and you practically have to duck to avoid getting hit by it. I suppose you could sell all of your IO drops at the vendors (and not just the trash recipes) if you really WANTED to be broke, but if you've been playing the game (not getting PL'ed), then you should have had plenty of drops to sell at the Market and no excuse for being broke. -
Quote:Would the interuptible ones work in that case? This probably wouldn't be such a huge deal nowadays with all the teleport power options. Base teleporter, Ouroboros portal, mission teleporter, Pocket D teleporter, even the Wentworth's teleporter would make this problem moot.
Side Note: I once had Lightning Rod get me out of a spot in the map where /stuck would not. -
Maybe instead of a full-on Invasion, it should be an Expeditionary Force or Recon Party, and only disrupting a portion of a zone, rather than the whole thing.
Those who have Hunt missions in thier story arc or godforbid thier TF can go to the other side of the zone and still complete it.
"Dimensional Disturbance in <zone>!" A Portal (Mega-sized object, no direct attacks, summons spawns, has lots of HP) is placed on the map. Normal spawns within X distance are replaced by Preatorian Critters. -
I know at least one would say "Look, I can deal with a city full of flaming demons, green-skinned super-strong drug-addicts, marauding extradimensional aliens, hordes of zombies and evil corporate superpowers. But there isn't a bar anywhere in this whole **** town and none of the women are anatomicly correct. I'm OUTTA HERE as soon as I find my motorcycle!"

Unfun? L40-50.
By L40-49 all I have to look forward to are filler powers as I already have all the neccesary powers in my build. The rest are just for filler or mules for set bonuses.
L50 is like sweeping and vacuuming an apartment after all your stuff is on the moving truck already. You're just finishing up those last few badges and unfinished arcs before you roll the next one. -

Quote:I switched to Lite Mead and chase my foes down the street waving a sword, rather than just shoot them in the knee and slowly walking over to "arrest" them in half. But then how do you fit into your spandex?? Do you just have a high metabolism or something?
<----points to avatar. Expecting much in the way of dietary self-control? -
Quote:Ditto. This has been a power I've always wanted out of the teleport pool. Something that has a much shorter range than the regular teleport, but is performed much quicker. I've always wanted to tp next to an enemy in combat almost instantly to suprise them, and attack them before they know what's happening.

I've never gone the diety route, but my Scrapper would be in tune with the Thor vibe.
Norse (Drinking Beer, chasing women and getting into fights) > Greek (Drinking wine, chasing anything and getting into drama)
My Elec Brute may be a Super-Scientist, but there are still possibilities. In his quest for power over all things electric, he would not hesitate to employ magic, so grabbing the power from a Lightning diety wouldn't be far-fetched. In his insanity (self-experimentation does that to you, particularly when you rewire your nervous system) and egotism, he will, of course, lie and claim that "SCIENCE!" is the source of any and all of his power. -

Quote:SWEET!How about... if you fulfill the requirements you are given an unlock token which can be used on any character that fits the requirements of the costume piece. Defeated Mooks but can't use the Tommy Gun? Use the token on another character instead. Done the ITF, but don't like the roman gear on this toon, use it on another instead.
While I don't mind unlockable costume pieces I would like to see them either global or exchangeable as above.
And for those who say it's a reward for THAT toon, what's stopping my toon giving it to someone else? 'Ohh, I just got this shiny Nemesis Rifle... I'll give it to my friend GunZ as he likes rifles.'
I like it!
Maybe make those tokens awarded to the character, but transferable via globalmail...or sellable on the Market like costume recipes!
**grumble**Someday my Crab will get his Tommy Gun**grumble** -

Quote:I like this idea as well. The OP's suggestion would allow too much extra potential for min-max builds and powersets which are already top performers.
With that being said, I sure would like to have this option on just ONE power level. That level being 49.
Let us choose either a power at 49 OR 3 slots and that would be a good change for many of my characters.
Currently, my L49 power is always a two-slotter. Something somewhat useful or interesting, but not something that I needed anywhere along the line while leveling up. And definately not anything I need/want to heavily slot.
Like my MM who is planning to take Group Fly, just for giggles. Or any of my (few) characters who decide to take Hasten.
I could generally skip whatever my L49 power pick is, and more slots are always a good thing. -
-
You're going to get the equivalent of four one-slotted powers for free.
Better way to do this would be to ask for a few of the "get two slots at this level" levels to be "get three slots at this level". -
If the Immob resist was in Kinetics, I would have skipped the pool entirely. Not needing CJ for the Immob, I wouldn't have bothered taking the Pre-reqs for Acrobatics, which that character still doesn't have at L44.
I could also build for Ranged Defence via IOs, preventing many mezzes from hitting, but I think that this buff is thematic to the set and not overpowered. -
(TL
R at end)
I was having a great deal of Fun playing a Fire Blast/Kinetics Corruptor. Blast and move, blast again, re-position as needed, zip to the next spawn. It was all about movement and speed. I was so happy to have a travel power included within my Secondary powerset, so that I could so easily skip a pool. My build wasn't great at soloing EBs (all too common redside) or other individual hard targets, but it was fun at clusters of minions.
Then I ran into some CoT Earth Casters. Locked down with Immobilizes, I was forced to chew Break-free or chew the floor. Now, I get that every character's powerset combo comes with it's own personal Kryptonite. That one foe that it really has to change it's tactics for. For many, it's Sappers. (For my Electric Armor, it was Arachnoids) For my /SR it was Rularuu, IIRC.
But I digress.
So I looked at my build and saw an easy out. I could drop Inertial Reduction and take the Leaping pool's Combat Jumping for (resist: Immobilize) and Super Jump for a travel that didn't force a rooted animation every few minutes.
But why should a Pool power be better than a Secondary? Heck, a Primary for some.
Thus, I propose that Inertial Reduction or Siphon Speed be given a Resist: Immobilize component equal or similar to Combat Jumping. It would fit with the theme of movement and speed that Kinetics brings to the table.
If the buff is placed in Inertial Reduction, then it will be a team buff that happens to also benefit the caster.
If the buff is placed in Siphon Speed, it will only benefit the caster, but at the penalty that they will have to roll to hit to do so, and likely get agro.
I know, it would give a "squishy" a mez resistance. But I'm only talking about Immobilizes, not Holds, Knockback, Fears, Sleeps, Stuns or Confuses. And there is some precedent for a squishy to get resistance to KB (IOs, Acrobatics), Holds (Acrobatics) and Fear/Taunt/Confuse/Placate (Leadership)
TLR
Add Immob Resist to IR or Siphon Speed. -
How about immunity to debt?
Like, you could still get it to count towards badges, but it wouldn't detract from your Patrol XP, nor slow your advancement. -
In addition to three slots and a badge?
Well, you get access to an unlocked AT....no, wait, they dropped that to L20, so you could get it your first weekend. -
Quote:This, for the most part. They're usually "right" until I get new costume pieces that they need.
The initial costume is usually good enough at first.
By L20, I usually have ideas for an upgraded version of the initial, but the 1st costume remains the utility/combat version.
By L30 or 40, I'll have another idea for a variant, which may be based on the first or be a completely different concept.
When unlocksd are needed, then the costume isn't finished until I get them. Unfortunately, no matter how many times over I've grinded out those unlocks on other characters, that doesn't count, so I get to wait until the new character is high enough level for me to grind out the next one. If he is eligible. ((**** VEATS NOT GETTING GUN OPTIONS! Destined Ones Can't Loot?)) -

Quote:It's doable. Make them global, but reduce thier drop rate accordingly as thier demand drops. Thier drop rate was quite a bit lower when they first came out, then was increased. For starters, this would NOT effect Invention costume pieces. If these were made global unlocks the prices would drop so low you wouldn't be able to give them away and it would make the recipes useless. Also, with the ability to mail items to yourself in I17, it's very easy to get the Recipes and salvage to the right character.
