As such I want to kill as many enemies as possible so while I'm not going to clear every map unless the mission is really annoying I'm not going to stealth it either. With this you could get people joining mission teams just to farm merits who would want to complete missions as fast as possible rather than focusing on killing stuff. I don't think this is a major concern since TFs would offer better merits/time but it's something to keep in mind.
I'm looking for downsides to this idea (with the hopes of tweaking it as neccesary to improve it) and I'm glad that you brought this up.
I don't see a lot of merits farmed this way, since the merits would be accumulated noticably faster by TF's, and especially "speed" TFs. With the actual % chance being adjustable, it would likely be set fairly low. Just high enough that the "too shy to lead" player who prefers support classes (yes, every AT can solo, but some do so slower than others, depending on powersets, build, etc.) can still get in on the Merit action.

I'm not seeing this as a critical change for a serious problem, but hopefully an improvement to the general QoL. Thank you to all who have posted.
  2. Proposal:
When teamming and doing a mission belonging to a teammate, get a % chance of recieving a single reward merit at the completion. This would only apply to missions done from another teammate's story arc, not from your own, nor from a newspaper/radio mission, which grant no merit rewards anyway. Maybe 5-20% at mission completion?

Reason: In my experience, team leaders only want to do thier own missions, which leads in a gain in merits for themselves only. This is to the detriment of those who, for whatever reason are unable or unwilling to lead teams themselves.

Effect: Would increase the number of merits in the pockets of team-orientated characters. Thus, increased spending power at the merit vendors and in theory, slightly higher supply of certain items making thier way to the Market.

    Possible Counterpoints?:
    1) "They should lead thier own teams or demand that the TL set thier missions." ?
    2) "If they want the merits, they should solo or run TFs. " ?
    3) Other.

    Second build use

My builds are Team vs. Solo. If I want to exemplar, I'll do it as part of a team using the team build, or I'll do it via Ouroboros using the solo build.

That being said, I don't use the second build option that often.

Oh and add a separate entrance and exit portal to the Ouroboros zone. Having people porting in and out of the zone, hanging out on the portal while they bio, bringing 3 trillion pets and standing on the portal, etc. etc., it's beyond irritating. Door in. Door out. Two different places.

And the various different menu things we can open and move, like the map, nav bar, etc. Make them so we can attach them to anything else, like map can stack on Inspiration tray, which can stack on pet menu, or whatever combination we can make. So they attach to each other like Lego's no matter what menu it is or where we move it.

    That is really all.
Okay. Doesn't sound too bad, especially #2.

If the drop off point in Ouroboros was different than the exit, would we really need a marker for the entrance?

If your on Justice you won't see the your ad on Freedom and so on. I think this idea would be cool. It could get me more interested in bring my supergroup out in the fold. any thoughts on the matter?
    Sounds good.
For an Ad design interface, I'd have it incorporated at the SG/VG registrar.
    Format:
    1) A SG member with the appropriate permissions could use it, probably anyone with rent-payment permission, since you are spending SG Prestige.
    2) The name of the SG would be automaticly entered into the ad.
    3) From a drop-down menu, any number of pre-made slogans would be choosable (otherwise, see problem 1)
    4) The person who buys the ad would have thier name automaticly listed as the contact name (Otherwise, I see problem 2)
    5) Drop-down list of background art for the ad.
    6) Choose zone(s) you wish to advertise in, at differing rates. Boomtown should be cheap.
6b) Optional: You could also just have the ad placement be random, much like those sneaker ads that we had briefly.
    7) Do you wish to spend <prestige amount> for this ad to run for 2 weeks? [yes][no]

I'm thinking that ad placement could be random, or some other means will be needed to avoid the problem where multiple SG's want the same zone for thier ads.

Problem 1: League of Superguys places ad "Legion of Dudes is stinky!"
    Problem 2: @Larry starts a SG named "I'm a loser and I stink, see @Billy for recruitment".
  7. I usually hide because my window for gaming is very short and I don't want to waste my time, or someone else's getting into the "Join my team!" "Sorry, Logging off soon!" "No you're not!" argument again.

The big red NOT ACCEPTING flag usually works as well.

  9. Ah. "Why be in SG mode when the base is already full of stuff and there's enough Prestige stored up to pay the rent until the year 4000?"

Yeah, I can see that. I just stay in SG mode to see the little number by my name get bigger. I'm easily distracted, I guess. And maybe a little competitive. I dinged 50 in my old SG at 500K Prestige, but didn't train until I hit a million because I wanted the big round number before the SG gratzed me.

    Auto-pay the rent? <expletive> YEAH!!

Increased drop rates on Purples would benefit everyone who wants Purples. Sure, farmers would see a benefit as they would have more product to sell (or slot), but the increased supply would help anyone else who wanted it. And it's certainly not just farmers who obtain Purples, but anyone who fights high-level foes.

Personally, I don't see drop rates increasing on Purples anytime soon, and certainly not increasing by a very large amount.

What effect does "too much" Prestige in the system have?

Bases get too large too fast and members get lost? Excessive base sizes take up too much server memory?
    Please elaborate.

  13. For a list of commands, try typing /cmdlist and skim the long list of commands in the pink text. (Not sure which channel you need to have on the tab. System?)

I don't recall there being a command for what you want, in which case, submitting it as a bug report will be your remaining option.
  14. Indeed.
Luckily, leveling is quick in this game and you can save costumes to quickload onto a fresh alt.
Unfortunately, I am still sitting wishing that costume unlocks were account-wide. Also: Anniversary badge should be account-wide. No particular character "did anything" other than log in. Your account was paid up at the time and you logged your characters in, which is a player-based activity, more than a character's accomplishment against a challenge.

It's strange that it's not allowed, due to the continued addition of character-only (versus account) badges. It's really kind of a disincentive for me to start a new character, knowing that if I want some of those costume pieces or accolade powers, I have to do a lot of stuff over again.
    Pretty much "No".

This game has always been very alt-friendly, to the point where it encourages players to roll alts. The EAT's being team-based and team-centric speaks to me that Vets are/were intended to roll new characters and play alongside new players, not to grind to the Max level the raid/PvP until done.

In the past, the answer to this question was "No, some things about your character (Origin, AT and Powersets) should remain static". Although I would have like to change my first L50 from one certain defensive set to one other particular defensive set that didn't exist at the time, better fits his theme and is more suited to my playstyle, I can see why they would make this decision.

Otherwise, I'd just grab whatever solos quickest to L50, then swap to whatever I want to have at that point. I'd go Fire Tank to L32+, then go Stone in the post-Granite levels.

I seem to remember you saying that you had no interest in base building until Rent was removed, with your unhappiness being based on the idea of having to work to maintain a virtual item in a game, as it would decay, in a fashion, if you didn't. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

It's kind of a shame, though. I've seen your attention to detail and you seem to have a perfectionist bent. I'd love to see what you could do with a base editor. I'm @BBQ_Pork ingame and if your schedule meshes with my very sporadic one, I'd give you free reign over a redside base on Virtue if you would be interested.

You have at least a reasonable understanding, and you do not have the combination of {Flawed Idea + Angry Rant}.
People who understand the Market can still see flaws in it, but from what I've seen of these forums, they do so in a more civil and logical way than the "burn the markets! RRarrrrr!! Purple my casual warshade!! I should have a full set of PvP IOs 20 minutes after getting PL'ed to L50!!" folks.

(Just to be clear, I have no intention of insulting you or your idea. As you are a reasonable and decent poster and your idea would not, in my mind bring upon total economic ruin.)

My theory that : "Ignorance of the Market= {Bad Ideas + Angry Rant + Lack of good explanation}" still stands.
  18. I assumed that the answer to the thread title would require removing at least one hand from the keyboard.
  19. But to ask about hide would require knowing that yes, there ARE people who are not visible on /search or that there is a /hide feature.
Analogy, possibly a bad one: I wouldn't ask what those guys were doing behind my house if I didn't first know that there were guys behind my house.

But seriously? I have no idea what the numbers really are and I'm just making idle speculation. Feel free to ignore it.

-we have access to more organized events/teams and subgroups

    I Agree with your speculations.
My own speculation based off of your speculation: If we are more knowledgeable about the game, we are more likely to know about how the Hide system works, and thus more likely to use it.

That sounds right. I was talking about a solo mission from a RWZ contact. Lady Grey dies immediately. Never gets a chance to leave the room.
  22. I never have a problem with that mission. It's "Keep Lady Grey alive" that's a problem.

Still, Gen. Aarons and the Rikti Ambassador should be able to be lead to the door, rather than be combatants, IMO.

    This also.

It seems to me that the more a poster claims to hate the Market, the less actual knowledge they have about it.

Format for a standard "Fix the Market" post.
    1) False diagnosis of a problem, complete with incomplete or inaccurate data.
1b) optional: rant. Bonus points: if they feel entitled to a purpled-out (or similar) build 20 minutes after being PL'ed to L50.
    2) Idea that would either not accomplish anything, or more commonly, be detrimental to almost all players.
    3) Incorrect statement of the likely effects of thier idea.
Bonus points: completely opposite of likely effects.

    4) optional: Bonus points: (may be placed anywhere in the post) name-calling, blaming others (marketeers, the Devs, Farmers or the Chinese) for thier percieved poverty and/or "The (Market/CoH/value of Inf/Casual Player) is DOOOOOOMED!" doom post.

    5) optional: pre-emptive hostility directed towards anyone who MIGHT post after them and dare to disagree.

    6) Very Optional: a second post in the thread, particularly one that politely discusses the idea for it's Pros&Cons in discussion.
