Quote:Kal-El with a different costume, no bio, but just happens to be a Invuln/SS Tank with Fly as his travel? Yeah, I'd be suspicious.This. Unless the charcter is offensive, (those I petition immediately) I ignore a toon unless two out of the 3 factors lend themselves to copying. If someone named Kal-El is running around, looks like Superman, and has no bio, I will petition them. I just do not make a scene about it.

Welcome back.
Quote:As i discovered last week, my plaync master account has indeed been 'hacked' or a variation of.
My password and contact email have been changed, though this isnt the strangest part.
Quote:
I receieved an email on July 27 (the day i attempted to access the account) to my very old email address (one im certainly sure was not affiliated to my plaync account) regarding in game currency transaction.... on Aion?
i have never even contemplated purchasing an aion account.
Quote:So my plaync account is tied to this unused email address, but my password retrieval isn't?
As usual Plaync have seemed to ignore my support email.

Hope your all well... good to be back to such an awesome community... -
Quote:This has been a contentious issue for several years now.I belive as long as you dont rip the acctual name of or try to copy the suit as near as possibly you should be fine.....Homage is cool...rip off is NOT !!!
In the past, there have been posters who have expressed different "levels" of what hey consider to be over the line with the Homage vs. Rip-off debate.
One of the many was a 2/3rds rule: If 2 of the following hit too close, you've gone too far: (Name+Bio+Costume/powersets).
But it varies from one poster to another. -
Has anyone done any CoX-themed case mods?
I did a quick google search and the closest I could find was a "Company of Heroes" one. And the forum here has a thread with a WH40K one.
Link: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=231396 (Will probably get deleted when new forum rules take effect.)
I'm just looking for inspiration.
Whatcha got? -
Indeed. Broadcast is a poor way of dealing with it. With some people, you can get through to them via polite tells. But by going public, you're gonna put them on the defensive from the start, as they may feel "called out".

Making it based off of a Rhino or a Land Raider he could have:
1) made it small enough to fit on a desk. Sorry, but this thing is a huge waste of space unless you intend on gaming on your back patio year-round.
2) the hatches on the vehicle could have been hinged to allow access when needed.
3) not needed the third leg.
4) still stayed true to his chosen Chapter.
Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty darn cool and I applaud his efforts. -
Quote:Well, I meant Defences in the more general term (stuff that protects you), not in the Defence (not getting hit) vs. Resistance (get hit, but suffer smaller amounts) way. So yeah, they would be "Resist <damage type> Damage" toggles.....This is an interesting solution that I never really entertained.
However, the problem I do see is that Arachnos EATs, for one, don't have to make any sacrifice to do full damage, and STILL get very tough defences. I mean, Crab Spiders especially are effectively Range/Armour, given you can skip on the melee attacks they have (Same with HEATs, who have more powers in Primary and Secondary)
Given a chunk of VEAT mitigation is in Defences, Rikti would arguably have to have higher resistances to make up for lack of defences. I know that I've not seen any Rikti with defences...except for Guardian shields and those !!!!! Drones... -

You'll have to play around with the camera to get them to go ontop of each other, but it's worth it. Quote:For your CoH character: There used to be a 60 day interface requirement where if you didn't log on to your character and check Wentworth's every 60 days, your stuff would be removed. That 60 day rule is gone, but if it was long enough ago, you could have lost it back then and just didn't notice until now when you finally logged inHi, is wentworths cleared occasionally?
Logged on just now to find all my toons stuff has gone from wentworths, everything sold + not picked up and everything selling gone
But this theory would only hold if you have not logged in for many months.

A while back I tried to come up with a Rikti EAT (or VEAT) and while I never posted it, I did put some thought into the subject of Armor vs. Ranged Damage came up and the resulting accusations of TankMagery.
The compromise that I came up with?
Armed with a Rikti Sword and Energy Blaster, and Armored (depending on what branch they took (Soldier, Communications, Mentalist, Guardian))
The sword attacks would do Lethal, the Blasting attackswould be energy and the Armor toggles would have to have a self-debuff to outgoing Energy Damage.
The explanation? Thier powersuit had to balance it's power output it's power between the weapon systems and the defensive screens. Want to do full damage at range? Drop your toggles. Want medium ranged damage, full melee damage and full defenses? Keep the toggles up. -
For best slotting advice, you should visit the guides section and look at aguide written for your build.
Or ask in the AT section for your AT (specify the powersets chosen). Many of the AT sections have a following of number-cruncher types that will be happy to advise you, particularly if you lay out the desired parameters of enhancement (i.e. "SO-only", Common IOs, Set IOs of a low budget, "Unlimited Inf Dream-Build", etc.) -
Quote:In general?Typically, for any character I make, regardless of build, when given the option to add new enhancement slots every other level, I prioritize the powers I find most useful or have had the most struggles with in performance, to a maximum of 3 slots. When buying enhancements, I first focus on which of my powers allow for accuracy enhancements and fill those up. If all of my accuracy powers have been fully enhanced, I usually try to boost recharge speed on the others I can unless they use a lot of endurance (or unless they're travel powers, in which case I try to boost my speed). If they use a lot of endurance, I decide whether it's more important to increase the effect of the power per use or decrease the endurance it takes from me.
I'd like to pick your brains and ask, is this the most effective way to use my enhancements? Would you change anything in general, or in specific builds? What do you do with your characters?
Attacks: 1 Acc/3Dam/ 1 End/1 Rech. Never going with Recharge until and EndRed goes in first.
Toggles: 1 End, 3 Defense (or whatever)
Passives: 1 or 2 slots. (Eventually 2 L50 Common IOs)
There are exceptions for oddball powers, and I usually IO out along the way nowadays. -
So....who's going to be the first to do this with a Malta Kronos?

Quote:I always got "Rain-Purple-8-7-7" calling me out, presumably to a dance-off. I think now he goes by "The operative formerly known as Rain-Purple-8-7-7".Yeah as soon as I got the "Headhunter Red 2-4-2 has called you out" paper I was like, huh? If he had a problem with me he'd just disappear me. And whatever happened to Headhunter Red 2-4-2 anyway? I haven't seen him in the paper in a while. It was a cute Easter Egg.

As an aside:
Last I heard, the Paragon University mascot was the "Concrete Donkey".
A pig would have been a better choice. Noble, clever, loyal and much tastier! -
Quote:Don't buy pre-crafted IOs. You're going to be paying a convienience fee (time=money!). Ever buy milk and bread from a gas station? Yeah, the prices are jacked up.So, my highest-level character just made 27. And I noticed something: It's fairly hard to afford a complete set of SOs, and any IOs other than the generic "invention: damage" types seem to be thoroughly out of my reach. I've been doing cheap WW farming (buying recipes for less than they vendor for and selling them), and I made 27 with about 3.5M inf. That's enough to buy the rarest/most-expensive component of, say, a single orange or yellow IO of around my level, probably. The IOs themselves tend to run anywhere from half a mil to 5-20M+.
Quote:Possibilities that occur to me:
* You're not really expected to have anything enhanced except by whatever random drops you got and maybe a handful of SOs, and the game is plenty balanced and playable as such.
* You're expected to regularly spend a fair bit of money upgrading, and I should have made a lot more money somehow (perhaps by crafting and selling stuff?)
* The game assumes that you have a level 50 alt to farm for money.
* It's not really working as designed, but it's not practical to try to correct it, because any of the obvious proposed corrections would be dramatically worse.
I tend not to worry about purchasing Set IOs until the thirties, but if you see some of the low-demand 'vendor trash' set IOs with cheap salvage requirements, try those. You can replace them when you're better off, but in the meantime enjoy the base enhancement benefits, ala 'Frankenslotting'.
Quote:My experience thus far seems to be that, at least for a relatively new player, the big crippling weakness is that there's not enough auction slots to leave both bids and sales up for very long, making it hard to either buy low or sell high without using a lot of alts who are buying and selling different kinds of things. Which may actually be a good strategy, but it seems odd.
So, imagine that you just made 27 and didn't have any rich alts or rich friends. What would you be putting in for enhancements? How would you get it? -

I saw a name that was quite similar to his, but it had a 'minus' between the two words, and it didn't have any marker denoting him as a moderator/operator. Possibly just a coincidence.
