I've always wanted a customizable profanity filter, just so I could add certain words to it.
(Broadcast) PL_Begger: Looking for <Bleep!> team to <Bleep!> me! pst.
(Broadcast) Me: Lol.
(Broadcast) PL_Beggar: wut? -
Quote:You're not going to get a good answer from the community regarding what kind of conversation two individuals should have. Individuals vary, so thier tolerences vary. What's ok, and what isn't?
I'm a roleplayer - and a rogue/villain that doesn't even use the f-word strikes me as silly. 7 year old girls in catholic school uses the f-word. I'm hoping I'm not expected to live up to us TV standard, bleeping myself all the time.
As far as I'm concerned... I think it should be fine to use as foul language as I like. Anyone that doesn't like it should keep the profanity filter ON; that'll take care of everything.
Of course, mis-spelling foul language on purpose to circumvent the filter has to be a BIG NO NO - as it forces people to listen to it, even if they don't want to, bypasses game mechanics, and is clearly something that's spoken out of character, not in character.
---
And what's ok to actually do in RP?
Villains, rogues and vigilantes can be pretty freaky folks. Murder is all in a day's work - so I'm assuming topics of murder, torture and inhuman experiments sort of have to be in the clear... (though at the same time, I somehow doubt it is)
Witha game rated "T for Teen" (or whatever it is by now), I'd keep "PG-13" in mind.
Quote:Can people talk about sex, or will we end up black listed for it? It's not quite as "necessary" as violence, but I don't think all the supers around here are gonna stay virgins.
If you want to talk sex with other players, keep in mind that you don't have to be 18+ in order to play. -
If I come up with what I think is a cool name, I have to come up with a concept or at least AT+Powersets before I hitthe character creator.
Otherwise, it just feels like name-squatting. -
Quote:Honda had a "valet key" that would operate the ignition and doors, but not open the trunk.I remember the Corvette had it's valet/kid's key that limited the HP of the engine. Sort of opposite of that Top Speed key.
That "Gentleman Function" gave me other mental images, especially considering a saying I heard once about an expensive item. "Holey Moley! For that much money it oughta <verb> your <noun>!" -
Quote:I thought Air Burst was under "Vendor Trash". We must have different editions of that dictionary.[ QUOTE ]
Lackluster? Positron's Blast has accuracy, recharge and recovery bonuses, along with a damage proc. Admittedly that is the only one set out of the 3 non-purple/non-PvP sets that has decent bonuses.
[/ QUOTE ]
Positron's IS Great, but it's the only one that is (okay, excluding Purple & PVP). I used to 5-slot Detonation for it's Range and smidgen of AoE def (until it broke with i15). And Air Burst? Are you kidding? Its picture is in the dictionary under "Lackluster".
There needs to be more sets, and hopefully with some more recharge. -
I just want to know what the Devs had in mind when they were talking about "Electric Hammer" (Melee Attack set) and "Force Fields as a Melee Defensive Set".
I voted for them in the Powers Poll, I want to know what we would have got had it won! -
I'm liking Henchman 21's continued growth.
So how far is he going to go?
Going to eventually try to take the Monarch's crown? Going to try to take Dr. Mrs. The Monarch?
The "Hench4Life" tattoo and some of his previous words have told me that he's dedicated to the henchman concept and lifestyle, but he's starting to push his limits. -
Quote:Her goal is never to have a rational or reasonable conversation. Only to dismiss the quoted individual with a snarky comment and hope to goad them into posting something moderation-worthy.Oh, if only you'd have even bothered to read my posts other than just spout one liners. Oh, well.
There are clearly certain topics that we cannot have around without getting fully and completely thread-jacked and driven into a hole. This thread will get locked on Monday. Deleted if she says anything truly appalling. -
What cracked me up it that it seemed so unneccesarily slow and inhumane.
-
-
*sigh*
Once a thread has been covered in a steaming pile of winkies, no amount of dry-cleaning will ever get the stain out. -
Quote:DING! You sir, are correct! If after 4+ years of play and you still need a strategy book about the game, I really don't think it'll help your suckitude.
(Also, after that time, they would have no "need" for bonus XP/Inf/drops, as they would be more than self-sufficient by that time.) -
I wasn't, but thanks for giving me something to Google.

**SPOILER ALERT!!**
At the end of the arc, Emperor Cole pulls open the curtain to reveal everyone you killed (or saw killed) along the way. He admits that the whole thing was staged, ala "The Truman Show", including a sizable budget on blank ammunition and blood-colored dye packs.
"It made ratings history, <charactername>, but you are one sick, evil sonuvagun. You disgust me." -
Quote:I've got a few dumb questions, but just to make sure:Bid 25 million for an item yesterday. Checked today and the last 5 sales (all today) were 18, 20, 21, 22, and 22 million.
O...kay? I've heard of lag...but that's ridiculous.
1) Your bid has not filled.
and
2) You're looking at EXACTLY the same item? -
Quote:I expect to see a fair number of L50s standing semi-AFK while thier owners tinker with freespecs. That actually sparks an interesting thought. i19 is supposed to be focusing on endgame content, and yet, with the Fitness pool becoming inherent, we'll probably see a lot of new characters despite this.

Quote:I would like to be able to break apart crafted junk IOs (Oh, the unsellable garbage my former SGmates put in the bins!) into components that were either usable or sellable. It would be nice if there was a way to break down invention sets and salvage to make other invention sets and salvage. Basically a way for someone who might be interested in crafting stuff without the need of the market or at least in a limited fashion. Where you break apart IOs into their raw salvage components, or a fraction of their construction components. Again it's NOT taking the place of anything just another option
I wouldn't care if they broke into the same components or random, lesser ones from that which they were built.
I'd just like to get the salvage out of them (or even random, lesser-tier salvage). If I got the same recipe out it would just get vendored.
I disagree with your reasoning as to WHY you wish to avoid the Market, but that's another thing. -
Quote:Just respecced out of fitness on one character (had a freespec sitting with nothing to do, was pulling out some IOs anyway). If I don't like it, I'll burn a vetspec to go back, then wait for Inherent Fitness later and use the next freespec.
Are you delaying your level 50 IO'd builds until inherent health and incarnate comes out? Or are these pending changes so far in the future that for now its "business as usual" in outfitting your final level 50 builds?
Quote:How radical will be the build changes resulting from inherent health and incarnate? For example, is it foolish to invest a lot of inf to reach the soft cap, if inherent health will make reaching the soft cap easier for cheaper? Not to mention I have no idea what effects incarnate will wreak.
Just plan on being flexible.
Quote:Will the values of any important IO's go down (or up) a lot when the inherent health or incarnate changes are released?
Hint: think about what YOU would do if you could grab any three powers from an existing pool set that you don't usually take (like Presence, Leadership or Concealment) and 1-2 slot them with expensive Uniques. What would you slot them with? -
My wife asked our son (age 4 1/2) what he wanted to be when he grew up.
Answer: A Superhero!
(Pretty cool, I thought.)
She asked him if he would have a sidekick or helper.
His response?
Yeah! A Beater Robot!
I imagined the following exchange:
Bank Robber: "Every get down, this is a robbery!"
Giant Robot: "CEASE AND DESIST!"
BR: "Holy <expletive>!"
*Robber fires pistol ineffectively at giant, armor-plated robot.*
*bang bang bang*
Robot: "ENGAGE: GARDEN HOSE: BALL-BEARING FILLED"
*whack whack whack*
BR: "Ow! OW! STOP! HELP!"
Robot: "ENGAGE: SECONDARY ARMAMENT: BAT: WOODEN."
Yeah, I got too much time on my hands. -
Lt. Ferber, Bots/FF uses Jet Boots to fly.
BBQ_Pork has strong, albiet short legs and can Super Jump.
Dr. Johansen (Elec Brute) uses Piston Boots, as does my Biker-turned Techno-Viking Scrapper, Mighty Zugg.
Sally May and Sally May Nott are both FF bubblers. Thier (Tech) force fields allow them to "Hampster-Ball-Bounce", thus: SJ.
Cinae Exodus (Fire/Kin Corruptor magicly siphons and re-uses the energies of her foes (Siphon Speed+CJ/SJ.)
Terrible Two (Tantrum/Stubbornness Toddler-Brute) uses SS because he is, as he claims "SUPER FASTEREST RUNNER!"
Awesome Possum (Claws/SR Mutant Scrapper) doesn't have any advanced travel powers, (swift+hurdle+CJ+Quickness+sprint, though) because even for a mutant critter, being able to be faster than cars wouldn't be very "Possum-y"
Incineration Unit (Tech Fire/Dev Blaster) was an SG's trash incinerator, made mobile and sentient. Jetboots were part of the design.
Operative 33 (Crab) wears Rocket Boots to fly, because before he joined Arachnos he used to Hench for a Goldbricker-style outfit. -
Operative 33 will never go full-on Hero. After all "Henchin' ain't easy, but it sure is fun!"
(just substitute the Crab-pack for the wings.)

1a) Put a big disclaimer "Sales Prices are for reference only and might not reflect current bids."
1b) "Sales that have gone through in previous transactions are no gaurantee of future activity."
2) Once per day, refresh the website with that day's sales.
3) Rather than the current "Last 5", website would display the last 50 or so, refreshed only once per day. It would be harder to "paint" the last 50 than the last 5, especially with a fast-moving commodity. With a web page, there would be more display room than the in-game interface.
4) It would make a great attachment point for a good Market Tutorial that explains exactly how things really work.
Overall, I see this like one of those "Today's Market in review" financial shows, rather than a real-time stock ticker. Now if we can only get some of our Market Forum regulars to host it. -
Quote:I use the St. Martial Market as my favorite (for level-appropriate characters) as it's relatively low-traffic, has the Abandoned Lab and a Vendor nearby. That's my experience. With my DS/dark MM running all pets and powers running, I just go to St Mart - the BM with no one around. Just who is being bothered by powers here? The Tsoo mobs off to the side?
When I see characters like yours, (by that I mean lots of auras running, multiple pets) I simply use the other Market Rep.
When on my MM, I park my pets off to the side with a /goto. The Cap Market is often swarming with pets climbing all over the market reps, trying to place thier own bids. -
