Quote:Ever play a Mastermind? With the proper macros, you can control those pets to do all sorts of stuff.I think this could add more content to the game as over ones career players associate themselves with Longbow, the PD, Midnighters Club and so on. Lets say you had the ability to give orders to the NPC like in <Another Game> Stay close, only use missiles, run instead of fight that Vahz horde.
But they hesitate in allowing other classes have such fine control over thier pets, such as there are in Controller, Defender, etc. powersets.
The idea of having established NPC factions as controllable pets is interesting. And certain Temp Powers allow a summon of such (Back-Up Radio?). -
Quote:Meh.Might be kind of fun. It looks like the game already has the ability to team with NPC's based on a few missions I have seen. It would be fun to roll into a mission with a bunch of hired thugs. If you need certain skills, you might have to pay more.
Geoff
As long as they steal a share of the drops (like teaming does), sure.
NPC pets don't keep up with me very well, so I usually have to either slow down or leave them behind. Not terribly useful.
Teaming with Faultline in the RWZ arc is fun though, for my Villains. I run ahead of him a little, hop to the other side of a pack of Rikti Monkeys (I'm usually running missions at x4 by then) and wait. "So, Big Boy, how's that Granite Armor against Psi Damage?"
Anyway, back to the suggestion. I'm hesitant for the idea for it making "Pocket Healers" or "Pocket Kins" or whatever. -
Time to whip out the "need weekend moderation?" tag.
Oh, wait. Tags are disabled now. -

I smell a "drive-by rant".
If the OP makes a second post in this thread and gives me his global (either via PM or post, whatever.), I will ingame Email him 10 Million Inf.
Double that if he cares to have a rational discussion about the incorrect information that he bases his rant upon.
Offer expires Monday Morning at 0400 Pacific. -
Quote:False assumption based on anecdotal evidence, i.e. one play session.I haven't played but once on my old account, but I've noticed that the game is kinda dead.
Quote:Of course there are players here and there, but I think there should be a free server.

You could have downloaded the game for free, then gotten a free trial account. Granted, it would have been quite limited, but it's intended to give you a taste for the game enough to allow you to decide whether you want to walk away or pay to get the full experience.

Okay, so what is that supposed to be?
On my old monitor and settings, Tempered Readiness' coil of rope looked like a toilet seat, but I'm still puzzled over Red Fortune's IO graphic.

If that a fishing lure? A red dinosaur wearing a knight's helmet?
A commemorative ribbon? -
Quote:Oh, I get the WH40K reference. It's just that with all that dimension-hopping we've been doing over the past several years, Statesman getting kidnapped in another dimension, only come back and start hanging out in I.P., who can you trust? In case you haven't caught on yet, it's a Warhammer 40K reference. :3
Who came back? -

Different servers have different populations. Freedom (Yay PvP!) and Virtue (Yay RP!) have the most. The server list is:
Top: One you were on last.
2nd from Top: Lowest current population online.
3rd from top: 2nd lowest.
etc.
etc.
2nd from bottom: 2nd highest CURRENT population.
Bottom: Highest Current population.
Also, the population is split between three factions and boatloads of zones.
1) Join a global channel and/or turn on your LFT flag if you want to team. This is a VERY soloable game, though, so who needs a team?
2) Vague thread titles and poor grammar do not help present your ideas well. I am more than willing to discuss your idea, however.
3) You pay a monthly subscription, but the updates (a.k.a. "Issues" ) are free, with the exception of Going Rogue (which is quite large) and some VERY optional booster packs. Other games (watch out, compare/contrast vs other games by name is a taboo subject) make you pay for every update, do they not? -
Wait, I thought Emperor Cole was in Preatoria? So which one is Statesman again?
-
You've moved certain powers from T1 to T2, I see.
Hasten, I can see why you would see it as useful enough to be worthy of T2 ranking. After all, it's quite popular among the playerbase for it's +Rech.
But Kick?
Edit: Another take on revamping the Presence Pool, by Memphis_Bill.

Oh, and I am generally in favor of "Deepening the Pools" as it were. -

Short version:
When you click {I Agree} to the rules, you've agreed to follow them, whether they say "No Swearing" or "No characters with purple underpants."
Consequences are to be expected, particularly when you've been warned ahead of time.
Other than that, play nice and have fun. It ain't that hard. -
Quote:Level-locking, then "popping open" the badges when unlocked?I'm not sure how you would level lock badges, currently a level one can get SSKed to a group fighting those guys at level one.
I suppose you could look at the lowest level in the group and figure out what level a level 1 would be if he only fought those if he was SSKed up 2 levels below them to start till he got the badge.
Defeat Badges? When the character is the same level as the lowest level normal critter of that faction.
TF Badges? When character is lowest level able to do the TF.
Simple enough criteria to me.
Explore Badges? L1, or in the case of PvP zones, whatever level is minimum entrance.
Damage-Taken, Time spent Held/Mezzed, Debt Badges, etc? Yeah, I'm not sure about those.
My previous idea was that any defeat badge or any badge required for an accolade would be transfered over in a "shadow form". That is, it would be "a mere shadow of it's former self". It would be able to be used as a custom title for the character, but not actually count towards the Accolade until it was earned the "real way" by that specific character. This was my compromise for people leery of having L1s running around with a full set of Accolades.
Honestly, IMO, Accolades are pretty low reward for the time/effort required. -

Many sets are, IMO, much more suited for one origin that any other. A well-written bio could, I suppose explain why a AR (or Dual Pistol)/Devices Blaster is Magic, or that Bots MM is Magic too.
For this one? "My super-science gadgets give me cool abilities, and throw out a holographic light show, just for added flair." -
Quote:Apparently not.I Have a Dream that all little Pvp Players and all the little Pve Players will one day get together and be friends..........Who am I kidding that never going to happen.
Can't we all just get along.
The worst behavior makes the biggest impression and is therefore talked about more often. You've seen "I was in this PuG last night and this moron...." threads, right?
Then what happens is that the worst of the bunch are held up as being representative as being most of the bunch. -
Quote:My support for the "Ultimate Respec" feature is always dependant on the new character being reduced to L1.I always find it funny when people use unique badges as justification for wanting to redo the respec feature when it would be a lot easier to for the devs to make the unique badges apply to an account rather than individual characters.
Badges are a lame excuse and no one is falling for it.
Rendering Anniversary badges as account-wide would, in my expectation, reduce the number of "Ultimate Respec" threads a bit, and reduce the support of such a thing. -
Quote:Minor quibble: The prestige isn't really lost. It belongs to the SG and stays in the SG's piggy bank, with the exception, of course of the {bonus prestige per member for the first 15 members}, but that bonus prestige was never counted in a little number by your name in the SG roster. What you lose is the tracking of your character's contribution, which isn't the same. A good SG won't worry about that number by your new character's name.I like the idea of being able to reboot hopeless toons without having to start from the beginning and loosing all the badges, influence and prestige.
I will admit that I'm competitive about trying to have higher Prestige numbers than other characters of the same level in the SG.
There's no reason to lose the loose "cash" Influence. Just Email it to another of your characters.
There's no reason to lose much of that character's slotted enhancements. Just respec out ten IOs at a time, burning freespecs and Vetspecs, then sell them. Sell SOs inside of the respec for full price!
The badges are the only thing you can't keep.
You can use the "Save costume" feature to transfer the costume from one character to the next. -
Quote:Because the character would start over at L1, this works for me. It's the same as re-rolling, just with keeping the (level-appropriate) badges. When they finish however, they're level 1 again, right up to the choice whether to skip the tutorial. The difference is that anything they've done to earn credit for a badge remains on the character, and as long as the character itself would "qualify" for the badge, they still have it. Heroes wouldn't have Villain only badges (unless they switched sides at some point and became a villain, much how it works now for similar badge-credit situations), and the Level 10, 20, 30, 40, & 50 badges would be lost until the character was able to earn them again.
Because you're destroying the original character in the process, I have no problem with defeat badges and such "poppping up" as soon as the new character is level-appropriate to them.
Quote:
To ease some of the burden of re-levelling, The character would be flagged for receiving double XP until they get to the same XP total they had when they performed the respec (which wouldn't stack with Double XP weekends or Patrol XP of course).
Quote:This way, a character can be "reinvented" from the ground up, without sacrificing anything truly irreplaceable (like certain badges), and make use of powersets or ATs that weren't available to them before, WITHOUT getting a "free ride" to high level, and ensuring that the player still has to spend some time getting used to the new powers and abilities on the character.
The only problem with this, IMO, is trying to call this a respec. It's not.
It's deleting a character and transferring thier badges to a new character.
