  1. Huh, and to think, the old on had just grown on me via grandfather clause.

Now all in all, I actually like the suit itself, but I liked her old cape, gloves, and boots more.
  2. Man, this just makes me think that if I ever got a chance to rewrite and retcon Crey, I'd make it clear they seem suspicious from the get-go, even moreso when their corporate goal would be "To make the whole world super."

The twist is that Crey herself and a good chunk of her company are GENUINELY good people who are just hopelessly idealistic in the belief that if everyone is Super, there won't be anymore power struggles or problems.

Thus, the moral issue is that, as the hero, YOU'RE supposed to smack Crey in the face and tell her she vastly overestimates human nature and basically tell her people are power abusing monsters at heart. In otherwords, you have to destroy her faith in humanity before her faith in people destroys her and the world.
  3. I would like to put up my request here that female character models be given the tattooed bodies some of the female members have in the new Dark Astoria (Presently in beta as of this writing).
If possible I would also like to see the a glowing version of the Yakuza tattoos both male and female incarnate Tsoo enemies have, I don't care of they're color tintable from the default colors or not, they are beautiful as they are.

may we also get the spears some of their staff fighters wield? and maybe the [spoiler]'s Lampost Staff as well? I really liked that.

  5. As a small note: some years back, I recall running around Port oakes when I noticed two female NPCs on a balcony. one called to me with the following: "Having a good night? Wanna make it even better?"

My exact thoughts were: "Wow... they really managed to get that past the radar."
  6. to help people with my new Golden Girl Translator, I think what she's saying is that she sees Mustache Twirling evil as any sort of villain who's evil deeds see so over-the-top they come off as more ridiculous than offensive, motivation being an additional factor.

For example, as noted, tying women to railroad tracks if mustache twirling evil because there's honestly no point when you consider that there's better, more efficient, faster, and practical ways to kill people, and the motivations of the people who do this range from "rejection" to absolutely nothing.

Just as, to her, Westin Phipps' lack of real motivation (other than just to be a jerk to the world) and over-the-top acts of villains that are effectively bullying (worse, actually; having others bully for you) in extreme, pointless ways.

I suppose it can be understood, at least in a fictional media standpoint, but it feels jarring from someone like Golden Girl who'd probably treat petty theft the same as arson, and will casually label anyone who happens to be in the Rogue Isles a monster of a person who must be locked in jail no matter what their actual motivations or reasons for being there are. (One year old born in the Rogue isles because his pregnant mother was kidnapped by Arachnos? Better hope they have clean diapers in the Zig, BABY.)

  8. I'll /sign this.
There's a few map sets we need that would be fairly simple: like any of the present outdoors maps without war walls

Giving the valentine to Praetor Sinclair suggests that the letter is genuine and not a ruse to lure Belladona out. The thing is that Chance claims to be married, offering to introduce you to his wife near the end of his arc and even invites you to dinner with the two of them when he sees you off when you go to Paragon City through the Loyalist portal. I'm not sure if this is an oversight or if Chance actually prefers Belladona over his wife but for now, it just seems odd.
The truth is... BELLADONNA IS HIS WIFE. What a twist!

Well I more mean in some of the later renditions of the tights outfit where they did get boob molds.

But yeah, that, I honestly like, meanwhile, Namor's scaly manties still get a thumbs down from me.

  13. To actually put in my thoughts on this, I realize it's not a matter of sexism to me, but how ridiculous characters can look.

Starfire's costume (the actual costume, not just her being nude) strikes me as silly and ridiculous.

Sue Reed's outfit is also ridiculous because it even goes so far as to defy physics to achieve it's appearance.

Psylocke and Wonder Woman's Star Sapphire Lantern Corps costumes are also pushing it.

And yes, personally, even as a guy, I think Namor looks like an idiot running around in a shiny, green-scale speedo. And really, even if I had that build I would not dress like that, not even at the beach, and quite frankly, were Namor not the sort of character who casually murders people who insult him, I'd laugh in his face about his fashion choice.

Now on another note, in general I tend to find a lot of super hero costumes a bit on the silly side, but they manage to actually grow on me purely through nostalgia and the grandfather clause.

Wonder Woman and Power Girl's default outfits? Yes, I've grown accustomed to them. Superman's* costumes? The silly underwear thing is so damn iconic to him that omitting it would feel like your just making a whole new character. Heck, even when it was vacuum sealed to lovingly cup each breast, I liked Sue Reed's old Fantastic Four costume just because that held an iconic appearance for me, even if it looked nothing like what you would explore space in.

But really, I'm a poor judge of these things because I seem to HATE the spandex-clad hero concept as a generality. Sure I have room to love someone else's spandex costumes or make plenty of exceptions, but I noticed this some time back when I looked at my character roster and realized the number of characters I had clad in tights was zero.
In a super hero story I've imagined in my mind, none of the heroes or villains wear tights. Not one.
Whenever I imagine how i would redesign a costume for any character, tights are likely the first thing to go.

So really, this is all a subjective thing for me, and for others too. I think for now we just need to take in a deep breath and say 'live and let live'. If you wanna complain about the comic book industry, feel free to speak when you're asked (like here, actually) but otherwise the comic book industry's failing profits speak well enough to the publishers themselves as they scramble with retcons and costume redesigns.

*I leave out Batman because lately the guy's been through more costume iterations than the people in the "Show off your best Costume/Costume redesign" threads. Really, the same could be said for about every Batman character.

  16. Actually, they're not that easy to create.
Flambeaux aside, every member of the Shining Stars has a unique costume pieces that cannot be player replicated.
Gyrm's spiked gloves also have knuckle spikes, Proton has a single earpiece headset, Twinshot has hip pouches, and Dillo has a unique hat to help him obscure his head.
  17. Maybe part of why Manticore's been such a jerk through the SSA is because he's been working with Wade. I mean seriously, the guy does not seem like like Statesman. Didn't Manticore even kill Statesman once in the comics for the sake of power?
  18. I have no strong feelings one way or the other one changing up the order, but I've been carrying some suggestions to buff SR in my mind for a bit now, they go like this in order of priority.

-Add a self ToHit Buff somewhere: This seemed like an interesting choice, because SR only has defenses a +recharge (and very negligible resistances) but didn't feel deserving of higher resistances, heals, or a control or herding Aura, I figured a ToHit buff would be a good way to give a somewhat indirect survival boost by increasing offensive power like Fiery Melee.
Also, this works with another aspect of having good reflexes the powerset presently neglects; it's not just being able to avoid threats, but see and take advantage of openings that might be too small for others to even notice.

-Change Elude: This is very strongly personal. I can't help but think that in it's present state, elude's kind of a waste of a power selection. I would suggest a few of the following as possible changes:
Reduce duration, reduce recharge time, reduce and/or remove crash: this one it's partly because to me, elude sounds more like a very short and quick burst of dodginess. But that's just me.
Add a moderate ToHit Buff: I'd say something like +20%, since elude is sort of meant to be going into Bullet Time, I like to imagine your character would see everyone around them as moving much slower in comparison, and thus would be able to take advantage of openings or weak points in enemy defenses, or just attack too quickly for them to even react.
Add a Recharge Buff: kind of goes hand in hand with the ToHit Buff concept, with improved reflexes you're able to recover from your own attacks faster and simply become an unceasing onslaught of damage against foes.

-Buff Practiced Brawler: compared to other click based mez protects, I kind of felt PB's a little anemic. Shield defense has fear protection, built in confuse protection, and adds defense debuff resistance and Kuji-In-Rin offers fear protection and psionic resistance (okay, it loses out on KB protection). So I figure maybe one and/or all (fat chance) of these three could be considered:
Add Placate and Taunt Protection/Resistance: conceptually with it's name, a Practiced Brawler wounds like they would not be easily distracted by Jedi Mind Tricks or attempts to sway them from their intended target. That and it feels rare enough that this wouldn't push SR into OP territory
Add Fear Protection: Okay, this is just because I've always hated fear effects since more than just any sort of mechanical mez effect, it also implies your character is a coward who wets them self when Ghost Widow looks at them funny.
Make it Perma out of the box: don't get me wrong, PB's recharge time it fine for the most part, but it would be nice to be able to have it perma at level 10 as a perk

Circle of Thorns, Crey, Nemesis... there are any number of powerful groups invested in Paragon that would oppose anything too catastrophic. And any chance to backstab a rival is well worth it.
Let's also not forget that Hamidon seems to HAET Nuclear weapons. We saw in Praetoria what happens when you try to nuke Hami. It ends with something like the First Ward. I think even Recluse isn't up to dealing with that.

The only problem arises from the incredibly varied nature of super power origins. On any given server there are roughly 5-10,000 supers in Paragon City alone. Even assuming Paragon is a magnet for super activity, that's still tens of thousands of different super powered individuals, the vast majority of whom are gaining their super powers from unique, non-replicable sources. These supers are almost certain to market or donate their powers, but they're a totally unreliable resource.
Well I'd say most tech base characters tend to function on a fairly reliable source at least.
  22. This probably applies to anyone who's taken up their patron contact's patron power pool and then used it against them in the betrayal arc.

Oh, I know, but if one reactor, built with the resources of a half-dead world can power the eastern seaboard of North America, just imagine what Positron could do with the resources of multiple dimensions at his disposal. Hell, some of our base power sources seem like they'd easily help power entire cities. (and RPers are sure to make up fluff saying that their heroes do help contribute to society by letting some civvie neighbors mooch some free energy.)

okay, in all seriousness, I suppose that is a good point. A super hero story I've been drafting is set in an alternate 1960's in a world where "Super powers are everyday but heroes are rare" and super powers have been around since the dawn of time (Epic of Gilgamesh? Legend of Heracles? The Ulster Cycle? They're some of the best historical documentation on early metahumans!) and part of the point of it is that while super powers are not bad, it's just the question of "is it really wise for everyone to have them?"
The answer being "not without significant enlightment" since what ends up happening is that while you have wonderful things like cybernetic limbs, virtually free health care, and gene therapy to help people survive diseases that would kill us in our world, there's naturally a significant number of people who abuse the advances in science and the existence of magic to their own ends.

And in terms of helpful things from Positron... We got a fire extinguisher backpack that holds fewer charges than a modern, domestic fire extinguisher, requires ridiculous time to repressurize between sprays, and can somehow miss fires, likely because it's also not very ergonomically designed.
