Quote:I didn't change it to 49, and when I changed it to 50 I stated so in your thread. Stop being so suspicious! And by AGAIN you mean you did another Level 50 Chimera (AV) in 50 seconds right?
You didn't change it to a Level 49 Chimera (AV) did you?
Just wondering. Some folks have been known to take liberites with this.
Congrats again on soloing the AV. -
Quote:Aye, 1.94 which you can get here: http://www.cohtitan.com/Aaw... the data-chunk isn't working for me for some reason.. are you using a version besides 1.92?

I'd wait for a Psy/Pain Corr.
Pain fits thematically and is also the only buff set that offers Psionic resistance. -
Quote:I think it mostly depends on what the team consists of, and yes Lore pets are affected by recharge buffs(I tested this multiple times myself).I think this depends entirely upon whether or not the Lore pets can be affected by the +Recharge from Adrenalin Boost (as many pets cannot), and whether or not the +Recovery is helpful (some Lore pets can burn their own endurance to the ground, thus reducing their dps).
Looking strictly at the offensive buffs, Fortitude grants +31.25% Damage and +18.75% ToHit, Adrenalin Boost grants +100% Recharge, and between Recovery Aura and Adrenalin Boost basically infinite endurance. This actually isn't all that much comparatively...
Kinetics, for example, provides infinite endurance, +50% Recharge, no +ToHit, but a lot more +Damage (30% per Siphon Power, 50%+25%/target for Fulcrum Shift). It's also granting moderate -Regeneration to your enemy. The big question then becomes whether or not the Recharge difference is useful (I don't know, many pets are immune to recharge changes), and whether or not the +ToHit is useful (though you can easily grab Tactics for 12.5%, something you can't really do for -Resist or -Regen).
Most sets with -Resist have about the same amount as Empathy's +Damage from Fortitude, though it varies (-35% for Freezing Rain, -30% for Sleet, etc). They often come with -Regeneration as well, which is basically free damage on top. And then there's Rad, which gets both +25% damage (as an AoE buff) and -30% Resistance in Enervating Field. -
Quote:While it's true that Empathy is the weakest offensively(I never claimed otherwise), my aim was to make people realize that it isn't that meaningful. Sure, a Thermal can contribute more to the team in terms of damage, but it isn't as important as some people think.Empathy is one of the weakest primaries offensively. That you can solo an AV with it doesn't mean it isn't. Any other primary (except maybe FF) could have done the same thing, under the same conditions, but faster and probably safer.
I'm not trying to detract from your achievement, congratulations on the AV solo. I'm just saying it doesn't prove Empathy is not weak offensively. It is. It has no debuffs, it has nothing to boost your own damage, the only thing it contributes to your solo ability are the three auras which help keep your health and endurance bars up.
When you bring Lore pets into the equation, you get a very different result due to the buff-heavy nature of Empathy. However, that still doesn't mean Empathy is a strong set offensively. IMO It means Empathy has great synergy with summoned pets (or teammates).
Now, I'm not saying your Empath does little to no damage, that's clearly not the case. My point is that Empathy remains one of, if not the weakest Defender primaries offensively. I think all Defenders should be attacking, regardless of whether their damage could be seen as comparatively weak. Defender debuff mods on their attacks are great.
If you bring Lore pets into the picture, Empathy arguably rivals some of the other powersets in terms of damage contribution, but that's something I'll leave to the number crunchers.

I have a empath Psi just sitting at level 38 for 6 years, lucky I didn't delete him.

Quote:Yep, that's what I was trying to point out.Positional is exactly that - the position from which you attack or the positions that you're attacking (for AoE). Melee and Range could also be distinguished as the general distance from which an attack comes from - is it close or is it far?
The positions have no bearing on the type of damage done. That's what the 'types' are for. -
Quote:Yeah, that influence will go into my scrapper, who can solo AV's pretty handily(but can certainly use the influence to make things go faster).
So, for the time and effort you put into making the video LOWERING THE DIFFICULTY and defeating the LEVEL 50 CHIMERA (AV). I will give you 500 million influence.
I am sure that there will be many within the community who think that I should not reward you for what you have done. I am also sure that they will be all the more convinced of it when they read through this thread.
But, here you go...
Is your Global Email @Auroxis?
P.S. Maybe you can use these funds toward a toon that can solo a Level 51 Chimera (AV) since your Emp/Rad Defender can't do it.
Or can he...with enough inspirations...I think he might be able to...keep on trying for me will ya.
Global is @Auroxis, by the way. -

Empathy has often been touted as the weakling in the offensive defender family, the one which can't really fend for himself and contribute much to the team besides buffs.
Then all of a sudden, Empathy got a great offensive buff from Issue 20 in Lore pets, which have the potential of dishing out Tremendous amounts of DPS if buffed by an Empath. This raised the question of "Is it really considered soloing?", and some statements which imply an Empath can't really do damage without them.
Well, apparently you can do just fine without Lore pets, and I've recently created this video to prove it:
Soloing Chimera -
-
I'm going to try and record soloing a level 50 AV with inspirations, no glitch this time. Will update with results.
Edit: Made it, will try to upload it. -
Quote:I never said I soloed it, in my original post I said "here's proof that I can dish out enough damage without pets". If I was able to solo a level 51 AV with no pets and luck, I would undoubtedly start a thread about it and even bother to record it.No, I'm saying that you probably either had a friend help you or you used your lore pets and dismissed them before you took the screen shot.
If you just happened to get lucky, you wouldn't be posting the screenshot here as proof of your ability to solo an AV on an Emp defender (which doesn't even belong here in the first place.)
You'd be starting a new thread in the defender forums, saying "Hey I soloed an AV on my Empath! Without Lore pets, inspirations, or any outside help!"
Quote:Some people like AIB might give you the benefit of the doubt-- But I wouldn't expect too many others to be as generous as he is and offer to PAY YOU to do it again...
Bottom line- It's very convenient that you encountered some "lucky glitch" that allowed your emp defender to solo an AV without insps, pets, or temps at the exact time that this conversation created an optimal point-proving opportunity for you to do so. It is much more likely that you are not being truthful.
Once again: I would love to be wrong about this. If I am, prove it, and I will have no problem apologizing to you publicly. -
Quote:I got lucky, I admitted it. What more do you want?"Glitching" is such a funny thing... It seems sort of odd to me that you were able to do it pretty quickly (as you provided screens within a day of it being brought up) and yet when you're asked to do it again you bring up the "glitch" and basically step around the challenge. Sort of discrediting.
Are you suggesting I photo-shopped it or something? All I did was prove that I have the DPS to take down an AV, if you want I can do it again if I get a meat shield, but I really see no point to it. -
Quote:Don't forget the extra defense from Invincibility if you have lots of enemies in range. That and the DDR makes you almost immune to defense debuffs if you were softcapped to begin with, and it also helps in incarnate content.Apart from hp and defense debuff res, a softcapped ela will surpass a INV. Power surge ftw. (thats just my opinion tho)
Also, could you explain this part of the guide?
Quote:Positional isthe make-up for 3 forms (all three are physical forms)
1. Melee
2. Ranged
3. AoE (area of effect)
Typed is the make-up physical and elemental -
This was purely a showing of damage, though it didn't start out that way. I started off attacking and staying alive using my Empathy powers, and then I simply out-ranged him or he bugged out so he stopped attacking. All this was with T3 Judgement and Reactive(T4 would have made it faster for sure), No pets of any kind, no red insps, no Call to Power, and no temp powers. I used my Judgement when it was up, PBU when it was up(except at the end), and Geas when it was up. My attack chain is Neutrino Bolt(slotted with a regular proc, purple proc, and -res proc)-Neutrino Bolt-Cosmic Burst(slotted with a regular proc). In that case I would say yours is still more impressive.
As for your offer, I would gladly take it but it took quite a while for me to get it down and I'm not sure I can reach the same situation of out-ranging/glitching him. -
Quote:Perhaps, but my pets will have an easier time staying alive than other pets and AB+Fort is still buffing only them and no other pets. Also, I can't say I fully agree that everything will be buffed as that hasn't been my experience. Oftentimes people get lazy with the buffs in AV fights or you simply don't have a kin in the league. You won't have Scrapper level DPS.
Because the Scrapper is buffed and his target is debuffed, which increases the Scrappers DPS beyond even the best Pylon times.
And that Scrapper can also have a pet, being buffed and debuffed.
Unless you want to count that added damage as "yours" for debuffing/buffing.
No one can say your Defender isn't providing an immense amount of benefit to the league, that's not something I would not say.
But in the situation above you may have moved into "scrapper level" DPS in terms of beating their pylon times while solo and now bringing that to the league, but the scrappers raw DPS has now moved into a completely different zone in the buff/debuff situation.
Ultimately, even though I managed a 42s pylon time on my Fire/Rad Corr with T4 Cims, I know its not "his" DPS - or at least I don't consider it such. (going to have another go once I have ageless)
Same Corr managed 4 mins 1 s with no Cims out, but I've made some build revisions and will try again with the aforementioned ageless - even then its still not raw DPS, because the target has -res and -regen debuffs on it.
This is just my arbitrary distinction.
I like to think about what a character can accomplish, for example your Defender soloing Chimera, in terms of their overall package.
And then I also like to have an idea of what their straight, raw DPS is - without the effects of things like -res or -regen. Of course I still count those effects, but I tend to consider them as part of their complete target take down capabilities.
Quite a while. Would have been faster if I had T4 Reactive and not T3. -
I thought it might be relevant to post this here, no lore pets used:
-
Quote:Yep, shouldn't have gone off-topic too much. Much respect for beating an AV without pets, for sure. That particular case is the point of this thread.
I'm sorry if I have been negating any of your accomplishments- I do not enjoy playing the empathy set, I can definitely admit that I'm naive when it comes to how hard it is to play a pure support character. Maybe it's very challenging to buff those Warworks while they go to town on a Pylon- I would imagine just as challenging as helping an inexperienced character/player do the same thing.
I was just trying to keep it in perspective in terms of the point of what we are discussing. As far as I know, it is unheard of for a tri-form Warshade to solo an AV. I remember a Human only shade posting a video recently, but he did it in AE with Elite Boss spawns arranged to his liking. AIB is able to do this in normal content, and without relying on lore pets.
If he needed the Lore pets, it might be less impressive, but he has proven that he doesn't. I feel like this is the first time a Warshade has done this (or at least done it and made it known publicly.) I consider it to be a huge achievement, and something absolutely worth sharing with the Kheldian community- Not something to be turned into a pissing contest. -
In that particular case, yeah.
Quote:Originally Posted by AIBThink about this for a moment. What if I were to use the same 2 T4 Warworks Lore Pets that you use....plus I had out 3 extracted essences when I started attacking a Pylon...How fast do you think it would go down then?
Also, for your amusement, here's proof that I can dish out enough damage without pets:
-
Quote:Speeding things up can often mean the difference between living and dying(especially if you're relying on insps), so there's no real difference in my book. I've also seen empaths solo AV's without any incarnate powers at all, so that argument doesn't really hold.Have you not been paying attention? People said "it'd be cooler if you did it without the lore pets., So he said "k" and did it without Lore pets like a day later. There is a big difference between relying on the pets to achieve something and using them to speed up the process.
-
-
Quote:So it's ok if he uses his powers alongside his lore pets, but it's not ok if I do it? Gotcha.I wasn't belittling any of his achievements- First of all it's not the same situation. He used one offensive lore pet. He also took all the aggro the AV's were dishing out to keep the pet alive instead of relying on his pet to survive which I'm assuming you would have to do. The one pet was used just to add some extra DPS and speed up the process- It wasn't something that was necessary to do what he did, which was proved.
If lore pets aren't necessary, then don't use em. It's undoubtedly a better achievement if you don't use lore pets and I never said otherwise. -
Quote:So you're saying all his achievements with lore pets are not him soloing, and you were wrong to call it soloing? I wouldn't agree as they are still his powers, but that's something that's been discussed over and over in other threads. Not sure if you noticed the last batch of pictures I posted but he also soloed Chimera as a level 51 AV without Lore Pets. I hate to be a bummer, but it seems more like your Warworks soloed a Pylon while you buffed them.
I find it funny that all of a sudden you belittle his other achievements which you've started this thread for(soloing with lore pets), just to try and discredit mine. -
Quote:I can softcap both my pets to everything, keep their HP bar full with ease, and make them immune to mezzes. Also, Lore pets do not only have a lot of HP(well, the boss pet does anyway), they also have a sufficient amount of resistance to everything. I'm not at all worried about what an AV can do offensively.Someone who has a better understanding of game statistics should weigh in here...(Microcosm for instance).
Here are some things that I am wondering...
Do Rikti Pylons have more HPs than AVs?
Do Rikti Pylons reheal more HPPS than AVs?
If AVs have more HPs...Are you going to be able to have your 2 Offensive Warworks out long enough to bring an AV down (Are they on a 5 minute timer???)?
This of course says nothing of the DPS the AVs put out.
Let me clarify, Rikti Pylons fire volleys several seconds apart. Sure they do alot of damage (if they hit you) but you are given plenty of time to react (heal yourself and heal your pets). I do not know whether or not they debuff you.
On the other hand, AVs often have debuffs. Additionally, they do large bursts of damage and then IMMEDIATELY follow it up with an additional attack or two. I think that that is going to make Soloing an AV more difficult for you than a Pylon.
I could be wrong. Give it a shot and let me know.
I'm not sure how an "average" AV stacks up against a Pylon in terms of HP and Regen. Pretty sure Pylons have more regen, though. How long did it take you to down that pylon? If it took you longer than it did for me then I shouldn't have any trouble soloing the AV's you soloed.
