Here's mine:
My Comic
I worked on it like a fiend for the first couple days but then lost interest. However a friend wanted me to push it through so I did. I doubt I'll be winning...the stupid Comic Book creator messed up a couple of the text boxes and the stupid me procrastinated so long I didn't really have time to fix it. Oh well...I don't think it's the most horrible thing in the word and the only audience it will likely get is the few people in this thread who want to read it. Feel free to let me know what you think.

I feel special now... does it mean I am one of the cool kids?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope.
Although I have to admit some small rush when I saw that Castle had weighed in on a thread of mine while checking the Dev Digest. Little did I know that it was only to shoot me down.

Since I know this is the era of giving players what they want and I know that there's a lot more competition for the MMO dollar these days, I can see a system of influence transfer may come into being.
Still, I kind of miss the old attitude that frowned on "twinking". I'm not saying that I've never done an influence transfer...but when I have it's been because I'm deleting a character. I just try to make my characters stand on their own....save for what someone else might choose to give them for winning a CC, helping out, etc.

Or, as I discovered only after doing the full set of missions on about ten characters, that the one costume piece I was primarily interested in -- the laurels -- wasn't available with any of the head settings on all but two of my characters, both of whom had the same head style.
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh? I'm not sure I follow this...did you think the laurels was a head detail and not a hair style? This is what I thought at first and I was moderatedly disappointed to discover differently as I only ended up using it on one of the two characters I intended. Still, as long as the head was human(oid) and you were willing to use that hair style with the laurels, you should have been able to use it on more than those two characters.
What annoyed me was that I couldn't use any of the belts with the toga without significant clipping. I have a female character that looked good in the toga but the clipping made it look awful and no belt didn't look right. And I had a male character where the sandal straps clipped through the back of his calves. Playing with the scaling didn't fix the problems.

Just to add a suggestion...maybe it would be cooler if these holiday events seemed to have a little more to do with the holidays themselves? One of the reasons the Halloween and Winter events are a little more fun is that they're firmly rooted in the holidays. The Valentine's event just seems kind of tossed together.
Instead of forcing villians and heroes to team for Valentine's Day, maybe just allow it but not have it be a requirement? Instead of requiring either or to destroy this or that...maybe make the missions about saving a hero and a villian that have fallen in love and then facing down an Elite Boss or AV that is intent on destroying them and the world because of that? I don't know...facing Snaptooth again so soon after the Winter Event seems like a wasted opprotunity. -
Granted, I kind of came to the event late specifically to get the laurel, toga, and sandals for a couple of my characters I thought would wear them well. I personally had a little trouble finding villians to hook up with to do the appropriate missions and usually ended up with someone much lower or much higher than me so the missions were often sans xp. Yes, we could have sidekicked or exemp'd but nearly everyone I teamed with complained, "I've been trying to get a partner for an hour. I don't care about the xp...let's just get it done." Or words to that effect.
And, yes, Snaptooth again was a little dull. Personally, I'd prefer facing a villian specifically created and appearing for this event....but maybe that's just me.

Lighthouse seems an okay sort...always very kind when responding to my PMs about this very thing. Personally, I enjoy a bit of chaos in a forum. Flames can be fairly entertaining...and the information is still always there, you just have to look for it. I always figure trolls need a little food now and then...and sometimes it's funny to watch them eat.
That said, it's CoX's forum and Lighthouse is in charge of it. They can pretty much arbitrarily ban any person or post that they like. Do I think it gets a little silly and PC at times? Sure...but if it bothered me enough to create a thread like this, I'd probably be seriously thinking about stepping back from the forums anyway. I don't see it changing. -

Congratz everyone!
Cookie Girl, rawr.
[/ QUOTE ]
Great job contestants.
And seriously that's my question. Who is Cookie Girl heh
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm just old enough and she's just young enough looking where I can't bring myself to flip out too much on ol' Cookie Girl...but it is nice to see the old sterotype of avid gamers being overwight male shut-ins just get shattered. Bring on the attractive female shut-ins! -
I've been getting rubberbanding on every single zone entry for a few months now and there seems to be a slight delay on power activation. So far the delay hasn't proved deadly...but I find the rubberbanding pretty annoying because it breaks up my emersion.
I'm not very tech-minded so my specs mostly escape me (I'm at work now and away from my home PC)...I have like a 3.0GHz Dual Core processor with 2GB RAM. The graphics card is fairly high end and I was running most of the graphic settings at 200% but stopped because I would get the occasional game freezes. I'm now back to 100% and still get a crash now and then but it's a lot less frequent. I also have the Aegia PhysX card. -

Why can't we make that helmet be whatever color we want anyway?
[/ QUOTE ]
I just wanted to emphasis this. It's a cool looking helmet but I've never used it once in the game because I can't change the color. Moreover, I've never seen anyone else using it. I'm sure it would get more mileage if folks could alter the color. -

Minor problem with bunny ears. If you have any hair style with the hair "up" the normal ears on the head are visible.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's supposed to be that way. They are Playboy Bunny type bunny ears not REAL bunny ears. None of the top-of-the-head style ears remove the normal human ears and that's the way it should be. Maybe they can add Rabbit and Feline to the Monstrous Head selections or something if you want real bunny ears or real cat ears.
I do like the fact that it is now possible to have sunglasses and cat ears at the same time.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think some folks want to use them as real ears though. They should give us an Ears Option of 'None' and put all animal ears into a Detail Option apart from the eye-related options, then we'd be fixed. The 'None' option for ears might look a little weird for the maskless but it would work well with some of the masks and masks with hair and certain other characters. I can't stand that perfect little ear outline we have with ear-covering masks....we should all have an option of making it more like the vague ear outline you get using the full masks. -

There is a bug with the new hairstyles... they suck.
[/ QUOTE ]
Seconded. As soon as I got to the character select screen and saw that those changes had gone live, I logged out and cancelled my subscription. I'm not about to pay a monthly fee to have my characters look terrible.
[/ QUOTE ]
The idea that someone would quit...or threaten to quit...over the changes to hair intrigued me enough to cycle through them. I can tell that they fiddled with some of them but I'm just not seeing the huge difference. Can either one of you illustrate the problem? Screenies? Male? Female? Just for my own curiousity...All my characters with hair look the same to me. -
More and more, I'm just convinced that any personal space, storage lockers, etc shouldn't be tied to the bases. Why should someone HAVE to be in SG just to have a space of their own? Even if they made it so your "room" followed you if you got booted from your SG, it would probably still require you to go join another SG to utilize it.
I get that SGs and bases should have some perks to membership. I'm fine with things like teleporters, salvage lockers, crafting stations, and all those kind of things being tied to bases. Just give me a place of my own where I can store my enhancements and inspirations and I'll be happy...for at least a couple days. -
[ QUOTE ]
is it possible to move the deatail1 earpeices to the ears catagory...after all they would make more sense there and can be combined with outer detail1 peices
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm Attache and I approve of this message. I'm also (again) requesting that we get a "None" option on the ears. I hate having that perfect little ear outline on the full masks, robots, etc. This isn't technically a fix, I guess, but it would still be nice. -
Yeah, I'm still not getting your point...or, more accurately, I can't bring myself to care about what you describe as an imbalance. Larger SGs with older membership and more prestige are going to have more perks. I accept that and I can be downright unreasonable most of the time. Sorry, I just can't get wound up about the cry babies.
Centralizing the teleportation system in any way would have a similiar effect...making it the plane is just a little cooler. If you want to get down to brass tacks, why do the SGs even need a plane if you can port everywhere? Why do they need a plane that just sits there? Something that has potential for content shouldn't be mere decoration. That's my only gripe.
At a certain level in the game, you can get to most zones in under five minutes. My main isn't even in a SG and I still hoof it everywhere with him...I really can't find it in myself to care if a SG has 1 or a 100 teleporters. Even with the system presently, I find that I usually still get to the mission door before at least half my SG'd teammates. If they clicked a plane to get there, more power to them. -
[ QUOTE ]
Allow me to put it in simple terms and cater, briefly, to the worst side of humanity.
*ahem*
OMG DEVS! Tihs SG i know can teleport to all zones IN ONE ROOM and tehy dont need plot upgrade or anything to get porter. u said vet rewards would just be for looks an not overpowered lol good job!!!one!! and now if you aren't in a SG with a three year guy you have to join one or try to recruit one becuz no1 will build all teh porters anymore is so unfair devs NERF NERF!
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, they'd get that...and you mitigate that by doing what you suggest: Basically, have a prestige cost to activating the plane that is roughly equal to what the teleporters would cost. And, as you suggest, you'd still have complaints...but those few remaining hardliners would have no valid argument. Besides, it's always funny to hear theM squawk. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think doing that would make teleporters redundant, which they're unlikely to do. If vehicles are going to do something, it has to go beyond simple zone teleportation. Not that it's a bad idea, I just don't see it happening. I don't see my idea happening either, though, so I suppose the point is moot.
[/ QUOTE ]
At the three year mark, maybe making teleporters redundant is something they should consider. You could free up all that space in the base and get a slightly cooler way of getting around. Sign me up.
The teleporters would still get plenty of use from the late subscribers. I think this could at least be considered. -
I'm at work so I don't have a screenie of this...but I'm sure I've heard the complaint before. I really don't like how some (many) of the "with skin" costume pieces for females seem to be semi-transparant in certain locations. I have one character that looks like she's worn out the knees to her costume (no jokes please) and it doesn't look good at all. Mostly, I hate the way it messes up the blending to her tight boots. Can we get a fix on this please?
And if one is coming in I8, all is forgiven.
Yeah, and Jay is sexy...but only if he fixes this. -
[ QUOTE ]
Thing two: Functional vehicles. Yeah, this won't happen, because they added a sucky plane as the three year vet reward.
[/ QUOTE ]
I also agree that it won't happen...but I was thinking, what if they made the plane a functional portal to any zone in CoX? Like if you are team leader, you click the plane and it brings up a zone menu...you select the zone and enter. Once the rest of the team clicks in, you get your loading screen to the appropriate zone and everyone shows up there. Heck, maybe they could even place your plane in the zone as a temp teleporter back to the base or to another zone? Could this be done?
I mean...okay, we're not going to get to fly the damn thing but could we make it be good for something besides prettying up the place? -
[ QUOTE ]
i still say its [censored] retarded
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, the stuff of legend. Thanks for weighing in with such an obviously well-considered, informed, and constructive opinion. -
[ QUOTE ]
There are huge multi-floor buildings all over the city, they could make one or two of those buildings sg base buildings per zone. Likewise they could also have subterranean bases in basements and the like. Or, they could devote nearly all the buildings in Atlas Park to bases.
[/ QUOTE ]
I completely agree it would be more interesting to be able to "see" someone's base from the perspective of an outsider. As it is, there's no "there" there...bases are simply shunted off to some extradimensional space that you can only show off to your SG mates or the rare visitor. Sure, I realize that you can always "pretend" your base is located in X. We'll just have to take your word for it.
One small fix for this would be to implement the windows suggestion that floats around occassionally...but instead of just a window with a generic view, maybe you get to pick a "window type" that displays a certain scene: Steel Canyon, Atlas Park, Talos Island. Hell, you could have windows that dispay underwater scenes, molton rock, the moon, space, etc. Even they kept bases exactly as they are, I might be jazzed to have the following conversation:
"The Liberty Patrol, huh? Nice base. Where are we?"
"Dude, we're on the freaking moon. Look out the window!!" -
[ QUOTE ]
The biggest problem you run into with making bases "physical buildings" in the world (even just doors), is that you can eventually run out of doors. How many hundreds (if not thousands) of dinky little SGs are out there, which are basically a handful of people? I think that's exactly the reason we didn't get "realspace" SG bases. Except the Freedom Corps - they have theirs in Galaxy City.
[/ QUOTE ]
In such a system, where real estate for bases would be at a premium...the costs of buying and maintaining a base would have to be much higher...meaning the dinkly little SGs wouldn't have them. I realize this alone would make such a system unpopular...all I'm saying is that the reality of a physical base might make me (and those few players as insane as me) a little more interested in bases and SGs in general.
[ QUOTE ]
The other downside is that accessing the base would be much more difficult. It wouldn't be going to the Base Teleporter in the zone - it'd be zone-hopping until you got to your base. Personally, I wouldn't mind the change, but others might, as it's a pretty significant loss of mobility.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, I would prefer the reality of that situation to the ease of play argument. However as teleporters are such a huge, huge part of the CoH mythos...I would not begrudge something like what we're getting in the Vet rewards - the personal base teleporter. And once at the base, of course, you could then utilize teleporters to get to the zone of your choice...assuming that your SG had the desired hardware. -

I think most people would just like either
a: a personal storage locker in base
b: a personal storage locker in base
[/ QUOTE ]
I need a place to store my HO's!
[/ QUOTE ]
and how would storage in a GROUP base help that? What happens if you get kicked from the group?
personal storage would be much better handled by giving us access to the various banks around town. Let us rent a storage locker there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep. Or I mean nope. I mean, I'd prefer individual bases. Batman had a base. Superman had a base. Spider-Man...had a 12 floor walk-up in the Village...but he had a place to hang his mask. Individual bases where we can display our trophies and store our stuff is where it's at, baby!
If the Devs give solo players apartments rather than bases, please give us a small dose of "reality" and make there be entrances at a physical building, perhaps one on the roof and one at ground level. I don't even care if you're able to enter your apartment from any zone...just have the entrance actually be a building and not another glowing column of light. -
I dig this idea...but I have to admit that I'm barely interested in bases. Once I knew the bases weren't going to be actual locations, I kind of lost interest. When I originally heard they were coming, I thought it was going to be like this:
"The Liberty Patrol, huh? Where's your base?"
"Talos Island. Due west of the Tech Shop. Can't miss it."
Instead, it was:
"The Liberty Patrol, huh? Where's your base?"
"You know that little glowing column of light in every major zone? That's us."
Yes, yes...I know that it fits the whole teleportation grid theme of the city and that to do it any other way would be kind of tough in a city environment without large open areas to "develop"...I just thought bases would be real places, ya know? -
[ QUOTE ]
sorry to put this bluntly... but the game does not revolve around you, your family, or even scottish people at all. You didn't have kilts before, now you have them. They Devs put a huge amount of time giving us these rewards... which they never had to do. Don't cry because you can't make it the exact amount of stripes or colors that so important to YOU and only YOU.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not that Hakster needs me to defend him...but I would say that the Devs do "have to" do these rewards...or if not these rewards specifically, something else to satisfy and retain their player base. These rewards (which I do mostly adore and appreciate) are not charity...they were created to keep us playing the game. Let's just call a spade a spade.
I do have to agree...diplomatically...that anyone expecting a personal level of customization in this MMO has a long, long time to wait. I'll say it again: If tartans have a minimum of three colors, then the CoH design should reflect that reality. If you expect a 4, 5, or 6-color tartan to be offered so you can recreate your personal family kilt, that's being unrealistic.
But, hey, he admits it's a purely selfish desire...I think we're all allowed one of those now and then.
