No I mean what if somebody comes up and SBs you without you asking!

You were on my team last night.

    Hey Merm...

    [ QUOTE ]
*Pleased to meet you. I am Thus Smake Zarafleastra, a level 1 Natural Scrapper.*

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is awesome. Good show, Mr. Flea.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Merms is dating herself? How does that work?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It has its drawbacks.
  5. When I was leveling my En/Ice Blaster (back in 2005), I did the Manticore TF with Doug. I had seen his name around, but it was my first time teaming with him. He had everyone in stitches the whole time.

At one point he said: "Ok, I have to say this out of character - I have never seen a Paragon Protector go down so fast or get so thoroughly owned. It's like there was a doughnut on the floor he couldn't wait to get to."

The team also consisted of a few of my SG mates, and to this day every time we're on a Crey Lab map with a door that opens to nowhere, someone will say "Doug sure am glad they put door there!"

The idea of someone quitting over a badge change is hilarious to me, in an absurd sort of way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think the badge thing is the entire reason, but rather the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I'll admit to considering it myself when I read about the badge changes, simply because it's yet another example of this game moving in a direction I don't like and don't care for. The only thing that is keeping me here right now is that I renew yearly and have already paid. If my yearly renewal were now instead of January, I would be having some serious second thoughts.

I'm leaning towards the "good move" idea. We don't know if it'll be retroactive at all, either. In any case, I'm thinking that as a badge community we need to pick our battles better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If it's not retroactive, then god yes, go for it, but i don't want guys I just made getting the 1 year badge... maybe it's just me misunderstanding what Posi was saying... A difinet possibility i'm afraid. heh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't see how it could be global and *not* retroactive. Starting this with the 6 year badge and not doing the rest seems counter-intuitive to the original idea behind the plan.

That is not the point, at all. There is a right way and a wrong way to argue a point, and bringing in personal attacks is the wrong way. Asking for an apology while summarily bringing up personal things completely unrelated to the situation is disingenuous at best, and hypocritical at worst.

For what it's worth, I too would like to see a public statement of apology. I just don't think insulting the person you're asking it of is the right way to go about it. Call me crazy, but if someone where to say to me "You owe me an apology, you fat person with a stupid haircut" (to use both of your examples), I'd feel rather disinclined to offer one, whether I was in the wrong or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't want an apology, I just want to be treated like an adult. <snip>

    [/ QUOTE ]

And you don't see the irony here? You're asking to be treated like an adult while hurling personal attacks and insults?

Now Liv, I've always liked you, and hopefully you know that, which is why I said anything in the first place. I really do think you're better than stooping to that kind of language and tactic.

And I'm not disagreeing with the core of what it is you want, I just think there are better ways to go about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    He made one insult.

Drop it and get over it.

Edit: Let me just add this bit in. Arwen, by mentioning, repeatedly, what Liv did that got your feathers ruffled, you are becoming, in essence, Ignicity et al, in that you won't let it go, and are running the risk of making the people who agree with you NOT agree with you on basic principle.

I agree with the principle of the whole argument of what was done was poorly done, but because of the constant goings on, I simply stop caring at all about their point.

    Same thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Repeatedly? I made my original post and two follow ups when people didn't seem to get it so I could further explain my position. Sooo...whatever. Like the rest of you, if it wasn't important to me, I wouldn't have mentioned it.

Also, I don't get why any of this matters to you Judas. You have admitted that you haven't played in a year and aren't likely to start again, so why do you care what happens with this game?

I need to set up some form of IM dealie, and when I do, I'll update that info here. Yahoo messenger will almost certainly be jn_zizka and any other messenger will be something very similar.

    Also:

I don't want to bore you guys with a lengthy rumination, as I'm tired and this topic is exhausting to talk about, but I don't want to see people go either. I'm sad to see so many people I like and respect make what appear to be hasty decisions over a screw up that isn't fully resolved. Anyone who's been here longer than ten minutes knows that nothing around here moves quickly.

The devs are not faceless, impersonal entities that float out in the ether and lord over this game. They're real people, and as real people, they make real screw ups. I have met a few of them, and have interacted with them my five years in the community, and I have every confidence that they genuinely have the best interest of the game and it's community in mind. And more importantly, they're one of us, too. They play just as we do (sometimes with us, unbeknownst to us), and I think that in the end they will do right by us.

We just have to have some patience.

    I never know...

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's way too much. That's an incredibly low blow, and it doesn't help anything.

Also, I don't know where the idea comes from this these are Posi's rules or that the buck stops with him on customer service matters. This is, indeed, a customer service issue, and Posi is not a part of that. Let's stop dragging him into it, ok?

And seriously Liv, you're better than that kind of petty personal attack.
