I was looking for something quick to play and I found this arc on PW's contact tree of recommended arcs. It's a one mission comedy arc that was easy to solo. It has some funny dialog and a small twist. If you are looking for something quick and fun, try this arc.

In organizing the list I noticed this was added by BubbaWheat. So consider this a second.

I know the constant re-tooling of AE rewards must have been hard for your project, and I'd just like you to know that I appreciate it.

    Congrats!
I second this. Thanks for all the time and effort that you put into this thread!

It could perhaps stand to have a smidge more text but the visual design and the contact voice do a good job of setting up a more classical style of fantasy. That said, I also offer one of my arcs

Dhahabu Kingdom and the Indelible Curse of Hate

as a fantasy epic set in an African themed realm.
I played "Chronicles of the Old Realm: The Lord of Dread", and I agree with Zamuel. The contact and the visuals are really outstanding. The last mission was a challenge for me, but I was able to complete it on solo.

This arc was very well done and I enjoyed playing it. Thanks Zamuel for suggesting it.

This arc was one of the first MA arcs I played and enjoyed. It is a one mission, office humor arc which provides some quick light-hearted fun. It has some nice customs with funny bios and dialog. If you like office humor and want a quick smile, I recommend this arc.

NOTE: As you can see by the ID, the arc is very old, but I did PM the author and get a response, so he or she is still an active player.
  6. Today, I logged in to see the following feedback on my arc Suppression:

@Chromatique : Feedback on Architect Mission Suppression: It's "Extraordinaire." If you aren't sure how to spell a word, you should look it up.

This feedback came with a 1 or 2 star rating and knocked the arc from 5 stars to 4 stars overall.

    This raises 2 issues:

    1. The first is, even if a 1 star rating comes with a comment, which I still support requiring, it may not always be clear that it is a grief. Perhaps this person is traumatized by poor spelling?

    2. It would be really great if the interface included a spell-checker. Despite the implication in the rather nasty comment, I generally copy all my text to Word and spell check it and I submit my arcs for multiple reviews, so there are very few spelling problems in my arcs. In this case, I added a clue which contained a typo. If we had a spell checker built in, this would have been caught. At my work we have to enter our performance write-ups into an online system. The text area is very basic. You can't even have bullet lists, but there is a button you can press that spell checks your text. Something like this would be a very useful addition to the MA interface.

Thanks for the info. I sent an in game PM to the author and I hope he or she log in and fix it because it seemed to be a really good arc.

I am removing arc 39008 - The Time Bandits from the list

It seems like a really great arc that I am sure I would love, but I have tried the arc 4 times and I could not get past mission 1. I think it may be bugged.

It leaves me with the objectives of protect the fountain, which I did, and defeat all enemies which as far as I can tell I also did. On each try I searched the map, which is not really that large, several times and could find nothing. Perhaps an ambush is not triggered or perhaps there is some secret part to the map that I somehow can't find? (I doubt this but I hope so).

I have sent a PM to the author and the person who submitted it asking if they can complete it and have not gotten an answer.

If anyone plays this and is able to complete mission 1, please let me know. I would love to finish the arc and if it is completable, I will add it back to the list.
  11. I updated the first post in this thread with a more current description of the arc which includes the warning about the reduced XP in mission 1.

I would like to thank everyone for the feedback they gave me to help make my arc better.
  12. I am starting this thread to help create a consolidated list of changes that people would like to see made to the MA interface.

I ask that people use this thread only to post interface changes they would like to see or to post in support of a change already posted here. There have been many great suggestions posted in other threads, but these threads are so cluttered with debates, some great suggestions may be lost.

My hope is to provide the MA developers with a consolidated player wish list focusing only on changes to the interface.

I will start with three improvements I would love to see:

    - Provide separate tabs for Guest Authors, Dev Choice and HoF arcs and have the default tab that is displayed be for the other arcs. This will help provide more visibilty for non-honored arcs. (This is a suggestion I have seen in many previous posts)

    - Provide a warning and require a comment when a player rates an arc 1 star. I have several reasons for this. People have accidentally rated one of my arcs 1 star at least 3 times that I know of. Also many times 1 star ratings are grief ratings and I think by forcing a comment this may cut down on that. The damage a 1 star rating causes, to a quality arc is very hard to recover from.

    - Provide an option to display how many ratings of each type an arc received. This must already be available in order to compute the overall rating and I think it would be useful to authors and players alike.

Please add to this list with changes you would like to see and keep it positive.

I decided that it might be useful to add hyperlinks to the arcs' message board threads to the Excellent Arc list in post one.

This way people can find out more about an arc with a single click. I realize that not all arcs in the list have threads, but I plan to update the list with all that do if I can find them.

So, if any of you are aware of the thread link for an arc you submitted, please reply to this thread with the link, so I can update the list in post one with the link.

    Thanks

    I would like to add:

    Between Love and Loyalty

    @Cybernetic Hobo

This arc was extremely well written, especially the contact dialog. There were lots of clues. The story and mission crafting kept my interest all the way.

It is listed as redside level 12 - 15 with a team suggested, but I was able to solo it on a level 8 brute.
  16. I logged in today to see the following feedback on this arc:

Feedback on Architect Mission Suppression: I enjoyed this arc! It was especially fun for this character, who is my homage to Elphaba, from the musical Wicked. The battle at the end against teh Wicked One was witch on witch! All that said, the first mission hardly gave any XP at all for the defeated foes - you might want to take a look at that. Besides that, though - bravo!

I was very excited that the arc was played and so happy the person seemed to enjoy it so much. The rating I got from this was 4 stars. I do realize that this is a good rating, but note the following part of the comment: "All that said, the first mission hardly gave any XP at all for the defeated foes - you might want to take a look at that. " I am not sure if that made the difference between 4 and 5 stars, but this shows that people notice and care about XP, even people who like stories and that the person was not aware of the recent "fix" which caused this.

I even have the following warning in the arc description: " NOTE: Current MA patch severely reduces XP in mission 1. If you care do not play at this time."

So I ask the development team once again. Please remove the patch
  17. Since people seem to be suggesting arcs, I would like to suggest 2 of mine:

The first is In Pursuit of Liberty - 344916.

This arc is level 45-54 heroic. I read your post about trying to become better. I would guess that this arc may have a record number of reviews sought. The original arc had over 70 plays and was at 4 stars when I unpublished it. I did this because, I took all the feedback I received very seriously and so I changed the contact and republished it. You gave it 5 stars on your last re-review and it is now sitting at 46 plays and 5 stars.

The other of my arcs I would to suggest is Suppression - 374481

This arc is level 5-15 heroic. It is currently sitting at 4 stars and 53 plays. It has gotten at least 36 five star ratings. You rated it 4 stars when you reviewed it, but I made some improvements since you played it, many of which were because of your suggestions. Perhaps if you replay it you might like it better and would include it in your list.

Thanks for putting this together. I know it must be a lot of work.

I tried to play this arc today, but got stuck in the first mission. I tried it twice and searched the map several times. I found and I believe defended the fountain. It seems to be a kill all, but I could find no one left alive.

Have any of you played this recently? Is there some glowie in mission one other than the fountains. I realy like the start of the arc and would like to be able to play.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
  20. Here is a link to some entries for Dr. Aeon's 2nd challenge which was level 5-10 arcs, but some of these arcs have been updated to expand the level range:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=210759
  21. Most of the arcs written for Dr. Aeon's second challenge would fit this and all I have played were very good. Mine is:

    Suppression
    Arc ID: 374481
Keywords: Solo Friendly, Save the World, Magic
    Morality: Heroic
    Level range: 5-15

I would love for you to play it, but I need to warn you that mission 1 was hit by the latest "fix" and so you will get low XP from it. The other missions are fine. If I can find the link to the entries, I will post it here for you.

    Enjoy

Sure, it also rewards good marketing / campaigning, but that's already a big factor in getting so many plays.

As I understand it, the HoF status is calculated on the fly, so if the devs later find the bar is too low, they can just set it higher again.

None of my arcs qualify for 100 5-star votes, I simply am not making enough effort (in terms of content AND marketing) to deserve it yet. But I do plan to try harder, once I know it's worth xp to play them. I might then find 100 players, but probably not 100 5-stars. Others are more worthy.

I don't think there's any way to adjust for the heady days of April 2009. You could start counting 5-stars from today, but it wouldn't be fair to expect people to play arcs again.

I just saw this. This is also a really great suggestion. Griefing stops some really great arcs from ever staying at 5 stars.
  23. I also agree that the HoF requirements should be lowered. I think that it would be nearly impossible for any recently published arc to reach 1000 plays at 5 stars.

I am not sure what I think the new number should be. It depends on how rare HOF should be. If the goal is extremely rare, I would go with 200 or 250.

If HOF should be something hard but attainable, I would go with 100 and 5 stars.

I can understand why previous HOF winners might not like this because they feel it devalues what they achieved. Perhaps a slightly different emblem could mark HOF with 5 stars and 1000 plays?

I agree with this as well. There should be no need for the author to republish if an arc is getting constant plays.
