Past Echoes of Tomorrow #379399 by @Equation aka Arbiter Fabulous
This was submitted for Aeon's second challenge and it's very well written with several of the characters going through their own arcs throughout this... arc.
This arc was extremely well written and full of great clues. It had a story that made me want to keep playing to see what was going to happen next. I especially loved the contact which was Numia. Her dialog was written in a way that grabbed my interest right away.
Thanks to Bubba for recommending it! -
Adding:
The Shadow Rune of the Warlocks - A Moth Cemetery Tale

@RedWarlock
I found this arc when I first started playing MA and I really loved it. It is very well written and has excellent contact dialog.
What I liked best about the arc was: An amazing choice of maps creating a dark mood, nice customs and last but not least the AdaMastor! -
Adding:
Sibling Rivalry

@Sister Flame
I found this arc in the Player's Choice Awards Thread.
It has a nice story and is lots of fun to play. The play level is just right and it has bits of humor mixed in. I recommend this arc to solo when you are looking for some fun.
In updating my arc summary, I noticed this arc was already in the list, so consider this a second recommendation. -

The Marconeville Horror

@Footloose
I found this arc in the 2009 Players Choice thread where it won the best TO arc. I do agree with some posts that it is challenging (the last mission), but you are warned in the description.
This arc is well written and fun. It has a good story that makes you want to keep playing and small bits of humor mixed in that made me enjoy it even more. -
Adding:
The Love Talker: a City of Herores Faerie Tale

@Djinniman
I found this arc in PW's contact tree and I really enjoyed it.
Skipper LeGrange asks you to rid Croatoa of a dangerous faerie creature called the "Love Talker."
This arc has a really solid story that kept me wanting to play. It is very well written and has some small bits of humor mixed in. It has great map choices for atmosphere, lots of clues, and some nice customs. -
I agree. I had just replayed this arc and was going to add it myself. It was really creative!
-
I know that many authors who have arcs already posted in this list have other great arcs as well.
I have seen a huge decrease in overall posts on this forum since a year ago, and I am not sure if there are likely to be many new posters in this thread... So, if any of you who have already posted here have another 4 star arc you want to promote, feel free to do so.
Just play one from the list that you haven't played and post on this thread what you liked about it, or suggest another 4 star arc by another author and then suggest one of your own. -

I found this arc in PW's Contact Tree thread. It was lots of fun to play and so funny. It had great mission titles. I loved the contact, Latin Lava. There was lots of the NPC dialog that made me smile.
If you are looking for a funny higher level arc, this is a good choice. -
Quote:Today I played "Shadows in your mind".Here are two arcs (currently in the 4 stars category and more then 3 missions:
"Duplicity" by Soul Storm. Arc ID: 85847
"Shadows in your mind" by Soul Storm. Arc ID: 47625
And my own arc (4 stars):
"Trouble in the Music Buisness" by Lady Arete. Arc ID: 63175
It had a good story with lots of clues and very nice customs. It was challenging but lots of fun.
Thanks to Lady Arete for the recommendation! -
I would like to suggest:
Outbroken
ID - 379017
@Aehaed
This arc is a fun, creative story that is very well-written. It is a great arc for new heroes to play. Think of Outbroken as a follow up to Outbreak. I loved the custom group "New Heroes" and the great humor that is sprinkled throughout the NPC dialog.
The arc is just challenging enough to be fun. The last mission is a very creative race against the clock. -

Strongly recommended for low level heroes who enjoy humor, plot and fun play! -
As you noticed, it is very hard to weed through the 4 star arcs to find the actual stories. I found it helps if you eliminate short and very short from the search.
I am looking forward to seeing what you post here. -

Citadel is in serious trouble! ... Can you help, hero?
This arc is a race against the clock. It's a lot of fun to play and challenge yourself to see if you can save Citadel in time. -

I found several really great arcs from PW's contact tree by level range and theme.
This is a really useful resource. I found that knowing the level range of an arc before logging in is very helpful to me. So, I plan to add Morality and level range to my list as well as the related message thread if one exists.
If any of you who have arcs in this list have a related thread that you would like added, let me know.
Thanks -
Quote:I believe that it is exactly the same as it has been since the patch. They are customs and were never meant to fight. I must admit I only looked at XP before, so I can't be sure if the effect on influence is the same.It is a change from the way it used to be: all of them were linked, and a reduction in one yielded a reduction in all the rest. When I was testing, I was running on a level 50 and assumed that since inf and tickets had been partially normalized that XP had been also.
I wonder now if it's possible to create custom mobs that give no XP but drop tickets and inf. That would create another set of issues. -
Quote:The reduction is because of a patch that was put in place in response to abusive farms that used allies unfairly.Well, that's good news!
I haven't been playing with the AE much. I have run a few arcs with friends for some RP action missions, but didn't pay attention to the rewards.
So, it is actually making new calculations as the noncombat NPCs leave, eh?
It didn't do that before, did it?
Any idea what the reduction numbers are?
It should be fixed with Going Rogue, but at least in my case it isn't fixed yet.
For me, only the first mission of my arc is impacted, and I did place a warning in the arc description because I have had several poor ratings due to lack of XP. -
Quote:I just retested my Suppression arc and there was no improvemnt at all. This arc has groups of NPCs which are allies surrounded by allies performing emotes. None are there to help you.Has this been at least partially mitigated or rolled back by the last patch? I entered one of my arcs on Live (Death by Snoo-Snoo) that had been utterly ruined by the patch, because it had 10 hostage rescues. The XP being handed out seemed to be mostly complete, and seemed to rise, but only slightly, as hostages were freed and escaped.
That arc has a lot of custom power selection critters in it, so it may not be the best for testing.
Update:
Yes, the XP reduction for hostages, at minimum, seems to have been partially mitigated by the most recent patch. I tested this on Who is Kidnapping the World's Great Philosophers, #253920. That was severely affected because it features eight rescue events. While the rewards did rise as hostages were freed and left the map, they were no longer nearly as bad as they were when the previous version of the patch was live.
In the arc, killing a level 5 minion on a level 5 minion yields:
2XP, 1 influence and 7 prestige.
Outside in Atlas Park killing a level 5 minion yields:
19 XP, 9 influence and 7 prestige.
So in my case only prestige is unaffected. -

This arc was so much fun to play. It had a great story with lots of clues. It was a challenge but with inspirations I was able to solo it. There was lots of dialog (some of which was funny) and lots to do. It is long, but well worth the time it takes to play, a really great job! -
Quote:I played "Duplicity".Here are two arcs (currently in the 4 stars category and more then 3 missions:
"Duplicity" by Soul Storm. Arc ID: 85847
"Shadows in your mind" by Soul Storm. Arc ID: 47625
And my own arc (4 stars):
"Trouble in the Music Buisness" by Lady Arete. Arc ID: 63175
This arc was well written and full of details. It was challenging to solo but not so much as to get in the way of the fun. It had a good story that made me want to keep playing to find out what was going on. Thanks for suggesting it. -

This arc was really well done and fun to play. If you are looking for a quality arc that is quick and fun this is a great choice. The difficulty level was perfect, the story was good and I love Rex. -

This arc is the first in a series of arcs about helping a small resistance in an alternate reality battle an invading force from another world.
The arc well written and filled with details. In parts for me it was challenging, but I did not die. What I loved best about it was the custom villains and bios. The details paint a picture of the alternate reality and kept me wanting to play to find out more. -

I played this arc early on and I really enjoyed it. I replayed it a few days ago, and for me it was even better now. It had a good story that kept me wanting to play. The customs were great and the arc was filled with flame imagery. It was well written and I was able to solo it on a defender.
