This arc is really well done and is one of the most creative arcs I have played. It has an exciting opening dialog that grabbed me from the start and made me want to play to see what would follow. It has really nice customs with great bios. The contact dialog is very unique and very well done.
This arc really stands out to me because it is creative and different and I highly recommend it. -

I found this arc in PW's contact tree and I really enjoyed it. As per the author's description, it us a tale of love and death on the mean streets of Paragon City.
It is well-written and has a story that kept my interest. It is solo friendly and for me was at just the right level of difficulty. If you are looking for a low level story arc, this is a great choice! -
Just a reminder if any of you have any four star rated arcs that you have enjoyed, please post theme here.
Also if you have a four star arc of your own you would like added, all you need to do is recommend one of someone else's four star arcs or play one in the list and post what you enjoyed about it.
If there are any arcs in this list that you feel belong in certain categories, PM me or post here.
I have been trying to select arcs to play that someone else has recommended, so that the arcs I add are arcs at least one other message board poster has enjoyed. The more people contribute, the better the list will be. So please don't be shy in posting arcs you liked here.
Thanks to those who have already posted arcs in this thread. I have been slowly playing them and I have enjoyed them a lot! -
Quote:I just played this arc and I really enjoyed it! It was funny and quick to play.I have decided to enter one of my own arcs in this challenge, and I would appreciate the feedback as much as any of you. I'd especially like to know how well I do on making the player villain feel like he's doing good at the end, and any suggestions on how to make that point stronger. Thanks
A Clone of Your Own? #453091 by Bubbawheat Level range 30+
Perhaps you could use a souvenir to make the point that your villain was doing good at the end stronger.
Thanks again for your feedback on my entry and good luck in the contest! -
Quote:This arc was lots of fun to play. I really enjoyed the mix of drama and comedy. To answer your questions:OK, this arc is ready to be tested. Besides the normal typo and mistakes some things I'm interest in hearing opinions about:
- Should the arc still be set to Comedy?
- Is the title still good, or should I consider changing it?
- The contact is "An Abandon TV" and left it unclear as to it's natures (like is it "The Television", just picking it's broadcasts or one of it's minors? Does this work for you?
- Do the mission titles fit well (They are all TVtropes)
- Should the boss in mission 3 be spawned off the clue or just be there from the get go?
- Is the ending clear enough and satisfying enough?
- I normally color code the clues, but did not this time. Do you miss it or think it's OK as is.

- Should the arc still be set to Comedy?
I would say no. There is lots of humor in the arc and parts actually made me laugh, but I think since the focus of the arc isn't humor, I would not keep the comedy setting.
- Is the title still good, or should I consider changing it?
The title is fine, but I would consider changing it to give the arc a fresh start.
- The contact is "An Abandon TV" and left it unclear as to it's natures (like is it "The Television", just picking it's broadcasts or one of it's minors? Does this work for you?
I loved the contact and I wouldn't change anything about it. That is a big part of what makes the arc fresh and different.
- Do the mission titles fit well (They are all TVtropes)
The mission titles were fine.
- Should the boss in mission 3 be spawned off the clue or just be there from the get go?
I would have the boss spawn from the start, because there seems to be a map bug. The spot where she was going to appear was marked on the map before I found the clue and nothing was there.
- Is the ending clear enough and satisfying enough?
The ending was fine for me.
- I normally color code the clues, but did not this time. Do you miss it or think it's OK as is.
I think the clues are fine as they are.
Great job once again! -
I entered:
The Vigilante - 395861
Thanks to all who played and provided feedback. -
-
Based on feedback I have changed the following:
Mission 1 - I replaced the Longbow with Bank Guards, added an ambush, and "uncrumpled" the note.
Mission 3 - I added a new clue to make the mission have more meaning beyond just do another act of evil.
Mission 4 - I added Victor (Angela's brother) as a hostage. I also took BubbaWheat's suggestion and in the wrap up indicated that Richardson wasn't so bad after all. The clue that I added to mission 3 foreshadows this.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I completely rewrote the mission 1 begin clue. The main problem that people had with this arc from the start was lack of motivation to commit acts of evil. When I rewrote this to be a Vigilante arc, I provided motivation which was to help Angela. Based on Bubba's feedback, I realized that while this motivation was clear to me, I wasn't doing a good enough job of conveying it to the player. I hope the new mission 1 clue now provides an understanding of the player's motivation for doing the things he does.
The last comment I have relates the the arc's title. I got feedback that it was vanilla and I can understand why. I struggled for a long time deciding what the title should be. I finally settled on the Vigilante and the reason for this can be found at the end of the souvenir.
I want to again thank all of you who played, and in some cases replayed this arc. Your feedback helped me so much. -
It is so hard to choose just five... But since said only five, my choices are:
The Casualties of War #241496 by @Dalghryn
The Curse of the Emerald Parakeet #1567 by @Lazarus
The Echo #1688 by @MrCaptainMan
A Hero in Need...Is a Friend Indeed #375018 by @Wrong Number
Outbroken #379017 by @Aehaed -
Quote:Thanks for explaining. I changed Angela's first note to make it clear that helping Victor is her only motivation in getting you to join the Greater Good. I will be making some other changes based on your input as well. I really appreciate your help. It's more of a feeling. I did follow that you're helping her to find her brother, which is why I suggested that you make him a stronger presence in the arc. As you say, he's the motivating factor, but he only feels like a side note. You might want to think about making him the driving motivation for Angela to reach out to someone to help her
Thanks again. -
Quote:Thank you so much for playing this arc again and providing such detailed feedback.Continuing onto the third challenge, which is another old arc, and one that I played and reviewed earlier in this thread as The Greater Good from the first challenge, Arrowrose's
The Vigilante # 395861 by @Gypsy Rose
There's just the reassurance that it's for "the greater good" (which turns out to just be for "The Greater Good") and Angela's reassuring smile - which used to be a form of mind control, but that seems to have been removed. There just seems to be a lack of deciding to do it for the right reasons, and instead you're just going along with it.
The only part of your comments that I don't understand is what I quoted above. The reason you are going along with all of this is to help Angela. Her brother has disappeared and she asks you to infiltrate the organization to help her find out what has happened. This motivation is provided via notes that she slips you after each briefing which are contained in the mission begin clues. I am curious as to whether you missed these or if something in them should be changed to make this clearer.
Thanks again -

8925: Forget the Rose, Send me the Thorns (H 45-54)
This arc was well written and fun to play. If you are looking for an arc with a story that is quick and fun, this arc is a great choice.
Thanks to Eva for recommending it.
At this time, I am adding my arc "The Vigilante" (ID 395861), which thanks to 2 random one star ratings yesterday has fallen into the 4 star range. -

This was a really well written arc that was lots of fun to play. It had a good story, good clues and really nice customs. What I liked best was the care and attention to detail that was obviously put into creating this arc. -

This arc is very creative. It is filled with humor, from the contact dialog to the clues. It was lots of fun to play, and except for the last mission, soloable on a level 20ish squishy. For the last mission I would suggest a team or a higher level hero. I was able to solo with ease on a 50 controller. What I loved best was the Prawn customs. Great job and lots of fun! -
I plan to enter: The Vigilante - 395861 in Dr. Aeon's latest challenge.
You played the original version of this arc (The Greater Good), but it has changed a lot, so if you have time on would appreciate feedback on this version. -
Arc Name: The Vigilante
Arc ID: # 395861
Morality: Vigilante
Creator: @Gypsy Rose
Difficulty Level: 45-54
Enemies: Paragon Police, Longbow, Family, Custom Group
Synopsis: What is good? What is evil? Things are not always as they seem. A mysterious organization called the Greater Good had been recruiting many of Paragon City's finest heroes. Now they want you. Will you join them?
Length: 4 missions - the first map is very small - total play time should be less than one hour
The original version of this arc (The Greater Good) was written for Dr. Aeon's challenge which required me to write an arc where a hero performed evil for the greater good. I received lots of feedback from people who did not like playing an arc in which their hero did such acts of evil. Having spent months on this arc, I decided to change it rather than throw it away.
So, I have used the mechanics and play from the original to create The Vigilante, which I plan to enter in Dr. Aeon's latest challenge. In this version, your hero is a vigilante. Though your contact is the same as in the original, I changed the framing and the dialogue quite a bit. I provided more motivation for your actions and made the clues specific rather than cryptic.
I want to thank all of you who provided feedback on the original version, and I would especially like to thank Glaziusf for his feedback on The Greater Good (Vigilante Version).
I took his suggestion and made my dual briefings into briefings and notes in the form of a mission begin clue and I think it is a huge improvement.
As always feedback would be greatly appreciated. -

Both of these arcs are truly deserving and in fact I love all the arcs I have played by these authors. -
I found the link to the old thread in case this helps. There are several arcs that I suggested in that thread. I will repost the ones that fit the criteria here:

@Incineratrix
I found this arc in PW's contact tree and I really enjoyed it. The initial contact dialog was a letter asking for your help, which grabbed my interest right away. You travel to the town of Innswich to help and as you play discover what is going on there. The arc is very well written and I loved the choice of maps. I especially loved the Elderdeep. This arc is very well crafted and fun to play. -

Ever done a radio mission and pondered what the devs were thinking when they named the boss? Should these guys be out on the streets? Ms. Manners doesn't think so and she needs your help to round up the worst of the worst starting with a boss named Manhandle. It only goes down hill from there.
This arc is full of double entendre and so much fun to play. If you are looking for an arc to make you smile, this is a great choice.
