The Galactic Protectorate - 02, #11728
This arch is full of details and really well written.
The contact dialog is especially good.
I loved the custom villians and their detailed bios. I especially loved the BlackStar Berserker bio. I also liked the optional history in mission 1.
The only negative comment I have, is that I got very frustrated finding the glowies in mission 1 (but then again I am probably the worst glowie finder in all COH). Naturally, I found the optional ones with ease, but the last required one took me forever.
Mission 2 went much better for me and I really enjoyed it.
On mission 3, I lost Sister Pysche and died fighting the EB. I was on a level 20 or so Illusion/Emp. Luckily a friend was on and he joined me and together we were successful.
Overall I loved the arc. Total enjoyment was only hampered by glowie frustration in mission 1. You are an excellent writer. -

Hey, I wanted to say thanks for all the detailed input you gave in your review of my arc.
At the time I first read it, I was a bit disappointed, as I had hoped that you would like it better.
I have been doing lots of revising on my arc based on feedback from reviewers, so I re-read your review and I wanted to say not only was it useful, but extremely funny. Oddly your review has the same type of humor I attempted to infuse into may arc.
I have a question for you. I received some input from several who have played the arc, that it would be more fun if the same villian group wasn't the main feature of all 5 missions. So here goes the question. You said: "The warning states that the story arc may contain: Elite Bosses, Extreme Elite Bosses, Extreme Bosses, and Extreme Lieutenants! I gulp, but I go ahead and accept the mission. I am playing this on CL 2, so the bosses will be bosses and the EBs will be EBs. Sounds like fun."
I am not quite sure if this was purely sarcastic or if you enjoy a challenge.....But I am considering changing my main villian group for my future mission. I may create a mixture of non-custom villians, or if that can't fit, use a non-costum group.
Do you have any types you enjoy fighting, or you think would make sense for a leap into the future.
Thanks -

There are lots of threads here that are about reviewing or critiquing arcs. I have personally found them really valuable, and I got lots of great input as to how to improve my arc.
However, some of these critiquing threads are very negative. This thread is intended to be ALL positive.
Post arcs that for you are must play or fun and the reason why.
They don't have to be polished arcs that deserve 5 stars or even 4.
They should be arcs you enjoyed for any reason. It could be humor, challenging to play, great custom characters, etc.
So here are the guidelines for this thread:
Post an arc here that for you is fun or a must play and why.
PM the author that you have posted his or her arc here.
Do not post anything negative here. Realize that liking an arc is a matter of personal taste. Also enjoying and feeling it deserves 5 stars is not the same thing.
Feel free to respond to a post agreeing an arc was fun or a must play.
The goal of this thread is to let people get postive feedback as well as to help people find arcs that others find fun to play. I will start it off in my next post. -
Thanks, Justice_Blues. I appreciate any and all input that helps make the arc better

Arc Name: In Pursuit of Liberty
Author: Gypsy Rose (ArrowRose)
Fern Fatale is surrounded by Devouring Earth, who are labeled "The Evil Garden Dwellers", which was a nice touch by the author.
As for the custom groups, I liked the design of the Liberty League and Anti-Liberty League, but the descriptions were a bit lacking. I counted 3 custom minions, 2 custom lieutenants, 1 custom boss, and 1 custom AV/EB; this is just a suggestion, but if the author could squeeze 1 more custom minion in the Anti-Liberty League, it might help keep the group interesting throughout the arc, since they did seem to get a little boring by the end. Although, that may just be because they were featured so prominently throughout all 5 missions, and I'm not sure how much free space tha author has in the arc anyway.

Sadly, I was not able to fit another minion in the Anti Liberty League. I made one of the lieutenants a minion, which provided more variety for those playing on an easy setting.
In response to your comment "they did seem to get a little boring by the end. Although, that may just be because they were featured so prominently throughout all 5 missions", do you think the arc would be improved if I did the following:
- Changing mission one to all family, except for those surrounding Liberty
- Changing the garden mission to have Evil Garden Dwellers as the main villian group and again only have the Anti Liberty League surrounding Liberty and perhaps Fern.
Using mostly Evil Garden Dwellers might make that mission too hard and I would need to test it, but I would like your opinion as to whether these changes might improve the arc.
Thanks -
Thanks for your comments.
The bios were in response to a review asking for details, but you are right.... There are multiples so unless MAL is making clones, I need to address that.
As to the warnings about it being hard.... Well I didn't make them. My intent was to be fairliy easy to play on solo, so someone could enjoy (sorry you didn't) the story. With upped level of difficulty and teams it has been challenging (I guess that all depends on your uberness).
Is there a way to remove the warnings that make it look SO hard, when in fact at a low difficulty setting, it is fairly easy? -
I spent most of this morning revising my contact introduction text for mission one. I attempted to make her dialogue a bit more formal, while at the same time retaining some of the humor I had intended.
It may be too much to ask, but I would love it if you could just recheck this text and provide me with some feedback to let me know if it is better.
I plan on incorporating most, if not all of your suggestions and then resubmitting my arc for your review, but I would love to know if I am on the right track in this area.
Again thanks so much for your help -
Thank you so much for your detailed review! I sent you a message board PM with a question and a some concerns I have as to how to improve my arc.
I will definately incorporate your input, and when I am done, I hope you will re-review it.
One thing that I wanted to state here on the forum was that the "Little Liberty Again" was definately an attempt at humor. The arc is filled with attempts at humor, although I am finding that humor, like many other things is very subjective. -
I would love it if you could play my arc and give me feedback when you get a chance.
It is In Pursuit Of Liberty - ID 221702.
I hope you enjoy it! -
Hey I am so glad you actually posted your rating criteria! I was going to start a thread asking people for theirs. Ratings seem so arbitrary. What you wrote makes a lot of sense.
I would love if you would review my arc and give me some feedback.
I will play one of yours.

I played The Galactic Protectorate 01
I gave the arc 4 stars. I really enjoyed it.
The main thing I would definately change is to add mission titles. It is clear that you put a lot of effort in to details and I think mission titles make the arc seem more polished. You owe that polished look to this arc.
In the first mission I was a bit confused as to what was going on but maybe that was by intent.
I LOVED your custom villians complete with bios. Great job!
This arc was full of details such as nice clues. It is obvious you put lots of effort in it and I am really glad I played it -

Arc Name: In Pursuit of Liberty
Arc ID: 221702
Faction: Custom
Creator Global/Forum Name: Gypsy Rose
Difficulty Level: Can be fairly easy on heroic but a challenge at higher settings. Can be soloed.
Synopsis: Liberty Rose Jones was an ordinary child or was she? Help Liberty find her true destiny if you dare.
This mission gives the origin of a hero. I tried to include humor with the plot that unravels as you play. The clues provide plot details.
Estimated Time to Play: About 1 hour.
It is so hard to get people to play missions so thanks for this thread. It is a great idea.
I am really looking forward to getting feedback.

Reviewer Comment:
The intro and end text for the various missions feels kind of sparse. And somewhat condescending, especially for high level heroes.
My Response:
This was my attempt at humor and not meant at all to be condescending. I have found some intros and wrap ups way too long and loose my interest. I would love an example of one you think is good so I can better understand what you mean.
[/ QUOTE ]
The review on my arc was very helpful. The reviewer made many good suggestions which I will definately implement.
The only feedback which surpized me was the part quoted above since I would never ever intend to be condescending.
So ... If any of you have time I would really appreciate it if you could take my arc and read the opening dialog including the 3rd part where you go back with out entering.
I would love feedback from others as to if they agree it is condescending and or find it funny. What I was trying to do was be light hearted in my npc intro to keep people interested. But overall the arc is intended as a story and not a comedy. I worked very hard on it. It took me about a month to create. The last thing I want is to put off or offend people before they even play.
I am not asking you to play or to rate just give feed back on NPC dialog before I change it I would like more feedback. You could post here of send a tell to @Gypsy Rose.
Thanks so much. -

You NavBar clues only have names "Stateman" "Liberty Rose" "MAL". You should really enter the text telling people what about those goals. "Free Statesman" "Find Liberty Rose" "Defeat MAL".
The Family felt kind of forced into the arc. You may have wanted to tie the arc more closely into canon, since you were adding a bit to someone's lineage, but if you wanted that, you should really have went all the way. Maybe a scheme by the 5th or the Council to prevent the addition of another member of that family to the roster, rather than the Anti Liberty customs.
Your customs seemed to be fairly nice, although I am not certain how balanced they are. I ran it on a fairly IOed tank, so am not sure how a solo squishy would fair. I am just not sure how much you really needed them in the arc. Nice descriptions on them though.
Most people, including me, are not all that fond of glowie hunts on outdoor maps, so 2 in a row was kind of irritating, especially the one on the Eden map. It looks fabulous, but you may want to consider a smaller outdoor map, with less hiding places. Some stories can certainly require using the extraordinary maps in the game, but others don't. The Family patrol in that map felt especially out of place. I am very glad you didn't have a Defeat All on any of the outside maps.
Over all, a decent arc. It just felt like it needed tightened up in some areas and fleshed out a bit in others.

My latest arc:
Title: Future's End
ID: 255895
Levels: 5-14
Keywords: Solo Friendly, Canon Related, Save The World
Description: Mirror Spirit has contacted you again. It is time to finish off the Future Skulls, and she thinks she know how. Can you stop the Future's End? Follow up to Future Skulls, 4727. and Simple Times, 70801. [SFMA/LBMA]
Feedback welcomed in the Fighting the Future Trilogy thread.

You say "You NavBar clues only have names "Stateman" "Liberty Rose" "MAL". You should really enter the text telling people what about those goals. "Free Statesman" "Find Liberty Rose" "Defeat MAL". - Good advice I will address this.
You said "The Family felt kind of forced into the arc". This connection was explained I thought in the first mission as statesmen I believe took down Family and Al was tied in to MAL but as to them everywhere I completely agree. I used them to auto level to 45 since when I team we waste so much time matching up SKs. I heard there is now a way to set the mission level but I can't figure out how. If anyone knows how I would love to do that and remove them from all but mission 1.
You said "Most people, including me, are not all that fond of glowie hunts on outdoor maps, so 2 in a row was kind of irritating, especially the one on the Eden map. It looks fabulous, but you may want to consider a smaller outdoor map, with less hiding places. " WOW I so agree with that. I cant find it half the time. I was sucked in by the beauty of the map. I will change it most definately!
Thanks again. So much. When I get a chance I will play one of yours. -

Review of Black Rose - ID 77448
First I love the arc name! I wonder why lol.
Seriously I really like the arc name and how the mission names follow through with the dark theme.
My overall comments are that the arc has a nice story that kept me wanting to play. There are nice costum villians and the dark theme is carried through the plot, the mission names and the villians.
Mission 1: Darkness Rising
Good use of NPC dialog. I would suggest adding a bit more to Epine's bio.
Mission 2: Shadows Fall
Like Epines hero group name and here his bio is good. I liked Vicent and what that added to the plot. The mission exit pop-up made me smile.
Mission 3: Shadow Flame
Is Epine French or perhaps you are? He said come here in French in this mission but spoke English elsewhere. His bio said he grew up in FL. I would either change this dialog to english or work into the bio that he is French. His hero name is French and I love it!
Mission 4: Soja's End
This mission was fun but hard. I soloed the rest on my level 18 WS but got help from this mission after dying a few times and the hands of the Death Hound. I loved that concept!
Overall I really liked this mission. It deserves a much better rating than it has. More people should play!

I played your Paris Holiday arc. It was lots of fun! I loved the spoof.
I especially liked the 3rd mission after she was freed.
My arc is 221702 (In Pursuit of Liberty). I would love for you to play it and give me feedback.
Have fun and ty for starting this.
