This is what I was thinking. At first glance, it does seem like a retcon.

The price we pay for playing on the US servers.

If I had to guess, it looks like Paragon replaces Providence with some significant expansion.

Im leaning toward padding, especially with the harsh return on breaking down common and uncommon salvage.

Agreed! I have an office full of soldiers and I have a hard time selling our game by word of mouth, especially with recent "new products" out.

Quote:It must be some sort of "creative liberty" when they claim to bestow powers on a mortal. From the story of Merulia, as told by the Vincent Ross arc, I think we can assume that they are, indeed, Incarnates themselves. This is actually supported by the various stories surrounding the origin of Magic, Tielekku and the history of the Oranbegans. Pruportedly, Magic didn't exist at first, there was only "divine power," which we can now infer to be the power of the well. The gods were able to use this power of the well, in conjunction with magic to strengthen themselves independently.
What actually happened to them is up in the air right now, at least until we know what the well does with the chosen it discards. -
Quote:Well if your selling a good product, it is a way to get that "foot-in-the-door" leverage. It's also false advertising, however. I may not be a layman, but the reason I'm not is because I was foolish enough to buy games based on ads, trailers and FMVs, whereas these days I specifically look for direct unedited in-game footage. Once you see that that high-flying, adventure-filled fantasy MMO that feels like an action movie come to life consists of stiff combat and hours of staring at large interface windows, you can make a much more informed decision.
I say it's false advertising, because an MMO survives on subscriptions, not box sales, and getting people to buy a box of what is ostensibly a completely different game isn't always a good idea for player retention. I know something about that from personal experience. -
I have been wondering about this since the whole "Well of.." thing started. We know that Statesman is the avatar of Zeus and Recluse of Tartarus and we know, from the comics at least, that these entities existed. My question is where do they fit in now? Are they simply past incarnates? Or are they something else completely?

Quote:Actually, no, I don't know why you ask.
And why CGI? It doesn't accurately represent the game, unfortunately, no matter how awesome it looks (and this from someone whose favorite official video is the City of Villains E3 trailer). A well-done ad shot in-game can be almost as cool (like my second favorite official video).
But yeah - vid of SOME kind by PAX East, Pebble. Get the Creative Services team on it ASAP.

I say CGI, because to the layman, it sells the idea. I had a guy in my office see one and he immediately wanted to buy the game (not ours btw). Even after he was told it wasn't actual game play, he was still willing to give the game a try. Once that $30 - $40 bucks is spent, it's spent. -

...seriously, how expensive would a CGI trailer for the game be? And i'm sure everyone knows why I ask.

What the heck happened to this thread? We are finally getting GOOD animal pieces and folks are going off on a tangent about furries? Good grief!

An AoE Placate would really do the trick.

I predict this will be the highest grossing pack EVER!

The great thing about this community is our common desire to see this game become the greatest MMO ever. We gripe and complain, but it's all out of love for this game and the genre. We are unified in a vision of how great this game is and that it can only get better.

My wishlist 2011:
Destructibility...that is all. -
Quote:Well to be fair, most of the recognized hero community was decimated by the Rikti too. Their tech was way beyond anything we had and unlike us at the time, they had medi-porters and could continually recycle troops back into the fight. This is probably why they saw no need for armor back in those days.Minigun vs. superhero: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLN3dPMyXeg
Yes, it's Supertwink, er, Superman. However, in the world of City of, Supertwink is an Invulnerability/Super Strength Tanker. There are dozens if not hundreds of similar characters running around the streets of Paragon City or the Rogue Isles every day. Why did the armies fall to the Rikti? They thought they could use bullets against super-riktihumans. -
So I suppose no one noticed the leopard head in the new Vanguard Pack?

Quote:Just put them in orange jumpsuits and give them a tag to indicate what faction they're from.If Frostfire, Miss Thystle, Akarist, or the reformed Freaks are any indication, then... yes. Longbow don't seem to take off their red and white tights when they decide to go rogue, either, and neither do the rogue Sword Vanguard. And I'm not sure a War Hulk or a Malta Titan could feasibly remove its "villain uniform".
