Quote:Vahz don't really mez. They hit hard and due toxic damage and those are what really drive melee ATs nuts early on. Lost and CoT will mezz a lot and can be found even before level 10.I'll second the notion to grind out 6 more levels for Integration. One of the best powers in the game!
Truthfully, I never noticed a need for status protection before level 18-22.
Not sure what your fighting that's giving you trouble, maybe Vahz?
Regen, is a mixed bag. When your on top of your game theres nothing like it. Regen can pull off some amazing comebacks. But if your attention is off, or your tired... You'll be kissing carpet like Blasters.
That said; I personally found Claws/Regen to be rather... weak feeling.
I don't judge a combo before level 22 and SO's. But when my Claws/Regen started feeling weaker after SO's for some reason, I just shelved him and moved on. Perhaps it's just perception, having played Dark Melee and Broadsword I'm just used to more upfront damage. Claws just feels weak to me. I was tempted to roll a new one up when I bought the Animal Pack, until I realized you still couldn't have 'natural' claws.
For synergy with Claws on a scrapper I'd look at either WP or SR.
This is "back in the day," but my Claws/regen outsoloed any build I had done and likely have done since once it hit 18 due to Focus. It's the only build I was openly willing to try Invinc diff setting when there was such an option. Getting SOs just made it all the more awesome. Once Claws 2.0 happened it was just pure glee. No more wind up attack and it was built for the high DPS set it was hyped to be. Just note this was after /regen had gone through the worst of it's nerfs.
Claws 3.0 added in the animation fixes that other weapon sets got, but Focus got nerfed and to be honest I'm rather lukewarm on the change. It's the only weapon set who's animations got tweaked that had something nerfed in the process and it felt like it changed what the set was about.
Dark was a DPS set(see Dark/elec brute buzzsaw builds), but then it got changed. I still don't view it as a heavy hitter though. BS is well, BS. It's always hit like a mack truck, but I find the set mind numbingly slow. -

I don't have all of the attacks to make a video of them, but it's basically looking at somebody doing motions with just their right hand while the other just hangs on to a shield. Thinking about Burst, I think it's going to look rather goofy when I do get it. Sigh. I think I've caved to rerolling the build, but I don't have any build that fits the name and I vastly rolled the build because of the name. At least when paired with SS the shield is actually used.

It took me a second to figure out where the hell they were going with it, but then it clicked.

+1. I started there and finally came back since I had no room on my other servers and wanted to come back for kicks. It also helped I have an idea for a themed SG and had to have 5 specific names and I couldn't get them all on my other servers. It is a lower pop server, but if you are willing to wait a bit longer on building teams, it does tend to be a nice server to play on. PuG teams are rather difficult to come by, so I mostly do TFs there and level that way.
Justice seems to be the server to go to if you want to do super teams.
Freedom is NYC warts and all.
Virtue is a more sane depending on how you view RPing and how much you seek it out, but not that much of a drop off in numbers. I have seen Virtue be red while Freedom is yellow.
Freedom is my main server, but I spend most of my time on Virtue, or Victory these days. -
And scrappers benefit more from the +dmg in AAO. Since it's a def based set, brutes getting better numbers isn't as important versus a resist set.
-
Regen could use resistance to -regen and -end. At least -regen.

Quote:Just imagine if they were an actual /emp controller. My good friend is a lvl 50[+1] Emp/dark/dark defender. His role now is mainly a controller, with Tenebrous Tentacles and Opressive gloom, he can lock down the whole group, and we just blow through content. He started off as a healer, but his role changed as he progressed. I'd rather have him on my team than anyone else. He makes me feel unstoppable. Now that...my friends, is a defender!
Emps were, are, and will always be justified, or not the number one sought out support set. -
Pick 1-2 combos. Take BF. Take whatever other powers you need for a smooth attack chain while leveling. Once you hit 50, build to eliminate any unnecessary attacks. I think more than 2 combos from DB is a waste.

For the cones, you hang back and use them and go in as needed. /sonic has a cone attack, Howl, as well and yet it's rather doable.

I know the policy. I just find it asinine when I post something that reflects on CoH in a positive way(I like CoH's graphics as is) and yet that gets deleted just because I mentioned another game in a unnamed rather vague way. I honestly had to look the game's name up.

Quote:And the new maps like the warehouse ones cause instant lag the moment I look at them. Not enter them. Look at them.CoH is doing it great for a 7 years old game, and Praetoria, new maps, new costumes are just awesome, but old stuff makes my eyes bleed aswell.
Old low res citizen and contact, old low res mobs...etc...
I guess they cant replace/revamp/upgrade every old-low-res-textureless-thing in the game.
Quote:This. Makes me feel good when I see it, too.
I've always thought the best thing any of us can do is support the game internally by getting active, writing a mission, helping a player, buying a SuperPack, referencing to friends, etc. I've personally been responsible for bringing four new players to the game since I started, two of which are still playing.
How 'bout you? -
Quote:You can at least get DP perma, but that's more like "So?" these days.Regen has to rely on Instant Healing for that, and it is not permanent (although, admittedly, not reliant on outside sources).
/regen needs as much recharge for perma DP and whatever attack chain you are aiming for. After that, jam as much def as you can it in. I'll likely IO out my Claws/regen in a non-purple build and call it good. I'll play it for old times sake once in a while, but as player with altism, the grass is always greener... And it's also the one character I feel the most sentimental about even if it wasn't my first character, first 50, or even my namesake on the forum. It literally took over 10+ issues to get to 50, but I enjoyed the hell out of it for the most part. -

Quote:I really dislike the look of the raptor packs though so I prefer the clean look of having Fly. Plus, it seems odd to have wings and a raptor pack.Even slotting a single Flyspeed is a waste. Since I-19, Fly is at Flightspeed cap by default -- even slotting a Flightspeed in Swift is a waste. Same with the Raptor Pack -- it is a flightspeed cap, too. The only thing that can get any benefit from Flightspeed enhancements is Hover.
So the default slot should have a EndRdx, a Stealth or a Zephyr -knockback. Another option is to skip Fly alltogether and use the Raptor Pack instead. That's what I have done with many of my characters. I changed over to Super Speed with a Stealth IO for full invisibility, and then use the Raptor Pack when I want to fly. -
Top notch graphics is not how to build an MMO.
I do think that even if GR wasn't a huge seller, I don't think people can deny the increase of subs as of late. Servers haven't been this lit up since CoV. -
You won't see huge gains due to how it works. You use it and then it starts to stack the buff whenever you attack up to 5. As mentioned, CS when it crits also let's it instantly recharge. This means you can stack it. It won't give out huge burst numbers, but it will be running rather often compared to BU. It's similar to Claws and DB in this regard.

Quote:+1 on the animations. KM is normally a free flowing two handed animation based set. With /sd, it's one handed and it just feels off. There is synergy, but Shield Charge would benefit more from popping BU and then charging in as where if you hit PS and then SC, there's no benefit. I'm still keeping my KM/sd and leveling to try it out, but I don't really have visions of grandeur in terms of how much I'll play the build. It's a nice side project.
From what I've read on here and experienced in-game, KM for Scrappers just feels... off somehow. Stalkers on the other hand >_>
As for synergy. I rolled up a KM/Shield but just couldn't get into the animations. (I'm weird like that, choosing less effective powers, ala fashion over function sometimes)
I do really like KM on my stalker. BU is there instead of PS and CS still recharges BU on a crit. A stalker is going to crit quite a bit on a team. For a scrapper, I would go /sr, or grab one of the sets with a damage aura. PS will pump out more damage for the damage aura. KM has some nice mitigation in it to offset some of the squishy factor of the sets with damage auras. KM/dark can stack stuns. KM/elec would give you a boost to recharge and make it end friendly. KM/fire will help with KM's lack of AoE, but I would rather play it on a brute since /fire works better on a brute.
Claws is solid doing good in just about everything outside of burst damage. Claws/sr is the best fit, but anything works as long as you use Shockwave properly. -

Quote:There's a long-running thread on the Brute forum about the "best farmer" that has eye-popping earning rates in inf/minute. The highest numbers I've seen reported by brutes are 2.5 - 3.0 million inf/minute. I wouldn't think even a purpled fire/kin would reach those numbers.
My Plant/Storm controller usually clocks 1.5 - 1.7 million inf/minute on the AE arc they've used as a test bed. Definitely not the best farming character in the world, but certainly a ton of fun to play!Quote:While I have no idea how a Fire/Kin farms compared to the best Brutes, the point is a Fire/Kin can do it with an SO build. A "crazy" build just softcaps smash/lethal damage with IO sets. Using purples IOs would be a waste. You can of course purple IO a Fire/Kin, but it's not going to give you the bang for the buck purpling a Brute will.
When I have farmed, it's usually been using real missions not AE missions, which limits your ability to min/max the incoming damage. I could see how 100% incoming fire damage would help a /Fire Brute out. -
There is a cyborg mission that is the most ideal for farming, but for it to be the ideal you have to really build for it. I would just run missions against mob type that you would perform well against. Something with Elec armor will love Ritki missions.
