Till then Im really thankful they got around to hitting them hard with the nerf stick. Even better if they do the proposed idea of removing exp completly from AE in i17 like has been circulating in rumors for the past week or so.

The amount of doom comments in game is kind of comical now 'oh noes AE nerfed how canz we lvl now?' amidst the collection of high level noobs finally having to learn what slotting is to survive. Lets hope they finally venture out of the dark depths of AE into the actual game before it was a low level farmers paradise

(yes i do know people will probably still go back to BM and freak farms etc, but at least the level 1s will have a harder time now and might actually have to play the game to get past level 1)
I find it ironic that they try to nerf farming in AE but make it extremely easy in the rest of the game with Super SKing and the new difficulty settings.

It's stupidly easy to farm now without AE, and frankly, making missions is no longer fun because evry time we turn around, we have to fix something.

May as well take Mission Architect out of the game at this point.

Personally, I see no reason to nerf the AE farming at all. The only reason it became rampant before is because of all the kids that were out for the summer. Most schools only have 1 quarter left right now, so you are going to see tons of stuff again, whether in or out of AE.

I personally felt they should have removed the AE building from Atlas to make it less populated. There is a AE in Galaxy, which is the same level range.

They should have a giant Rikti mother ship hover over it and destroy the atlas one like in independence day

But as far as farming, I really do not mind it at all. I farm at times, and I have certain toons that I SLOW level to get all their missions done and to unlock the TFs. I call these SLowbies.

Some people just like to PVP, and jumping to 50 quickly is a fun way to do it if you are into it.

Personally, I prefer PVE...and AE was great for that. But it has long since ceased to be fun.
  2. Not sure I understand this:
    Quote:
Rewards in Mission Architect missions that contain more than one allied critters will give progressively lower rewards for each additional allied critter in the mission.
I have a mission that contains an AV. I wanted it soloable if set to Elite Boss by a solo player. So I added 3 healer allies to help with the AV/EB in that mission of my arc.

Does the quote above mean people will not get full rewards (tickets OR exp)?

If so, I find it very unfair. I don't set up arcs to farm, I set them up to be epic stories, and if this is the case it's like that 8th time they've broken my arcs...which means I'm sick of trying to bring them up to standards.

It would be enough to say I'm done with MA/AE...and that is one of the few things keeping me in the game right now.

Are the devs supposed to come up with some convoluted equation for determining a fair division of prestige? Or are they just going to divide the SG prestige in half.

And if they do allow something like that to happen, is it really fair to the players that are remaining on the original server to see their base destroyed and have to be rebuilt with only half of the resources?

And what happens to the crafted base items? That salvage is gone forever.

Who gets the SG badges and the items they unlock? Surely you're not suggesting that the people leaving to go to another server are more entitled to them than the ones remaining behind.

And when a base is deconstructed in order to turn it into prestige to be converted, what happens to all the items in storage? Most SG's have more items than they can carry.

Do those items get sold off to an NPC store for a flat rate as is done during a respec?
First, as I said above, I don't really care whatthe "contributing members" want. When it comes to my SG, I make the decisions.

Dividing prestige is bull. If people want their own SG, just start one and put in the work I did. Did I do it alone? No. But I alone directed it's path. I alone kept it active by recruiting and setting in place the 10 day inactive limit. I alone stayed from start to finish.

And every member knows, what I say goes...all 140 or more members (minus alts). You might think I'm a dictator. Maybe I am...but I'm well-liked by all members or they wouldn't stay there. If I go inactive for more than a few days, I get emails asking if everything is alright.

But you DO have a valid concern. Some leaders/Members have their own storage bins...they should be given time to empty them. So give a transferring SG 14 days before it processes, and an automated message warning people.

Make Character Transfers permanently free so people can come to the new server and get back what they lose.

And the Superleader Toon should be transferred along with the SG, so that it maintains it's structure.

AND YES, I've changed my mind over the past few months.
And I don't even wish to switch servers with my SG.
    I take that back.

I wouldn't mind transferring my villain group over to Virtue, since it has more Infamy then the newer one.

But my Blueside big one is staying put.

Virtue used to be a place of roleplay and fun and now its little more than a haven for griefers and other unsavory people who really deserve the ban-hammer. There aren't any places left to get away from it either, and naturally, the GM's do jack-**** about it.

These aren't new players either, they're long-time veterans moving on to bigger servers for the single purpose of being a nuissance and ruining the gameplay for others. And the fact that transfers are free right now has created a HUGE influx of these types of people. Its disgusting...

I'm not one to rant, but honestly, I'm at the point where I'm considering cancelling CoX because it has lost the quality control and customer service it once had who dealt with griefers harshly and quickly.
    Racist!!!!!!!!

You must hate me, because I transferred several toons to Virtue myself, and I transferred them from Freedom (the most active server).

    Why? Because I'm power-hungry, that's why

I have a huge SG on Blueside of Freedom, and I want a huge one on Redside too, but I don't have enough active slots on Freedom.

    ON THE FREE TRANSFERS
I would love it if this became permanent. The idea of being able to move to less populated servers during heavy lag times to solo or team up is a great one.

When Going Rogue comes out, Freedom and Virtue will be lag beasts. Having Free Transfers would help make it tolerable until the servers are fully stabilized.
  6. I believe this is a memory issue, related to the ram on your video card and in your machine.

My guess is you are running on 1 gb or less of ram in your machine.

Also, something I do...I reformat my computer every 4-6 months.

It takes some work to do it, what with backing up my info and reinstalling programs, but it pays off in the long run, because the computer runs like new.

Even the best "cleaners" don't get everything. Shoot, windows updates alone can slow your system down, unfortunately. Nothing you can do about the updates, but reformating helps a LOT.

It also allows you to download and reinstall the game client in it's most recent form...over time, the game updates do tend to leave unused code on your machine.

    WARNING:
Be careful when reformatting your machine. Always back up all of your important info (including emails if you download them), and make sure before hand that you know you can get all the important software and drivers still.

Try upgrading your video and ram first...it might solve the issues.

Network connection can also be the issue. If you are not using high speed access, lag results cause that same visual problem as well. I know people that play on broadband, but are wireless...which is really slow. Use a hard wire connection for your gaming computer.

    RESTORE DISKS:
If you bought an eMachine, Dell or such, they usually come with a system restore disk. This will reformat your machine and install the drivers that were on hte machine when you bought it. You would still need to update the drivers, but you would get the software that originally came on the machine.

I prefer to use a hard driver partition program such as partition magic, then to install Windows directly. I still use WinXP, as I built my own computer and am too poor to buy Win 7 so far
  7. Time for me to drive up the average. As everyone will tell you that I am the oldest player they have ever met in any game.

When I was around 20 years old, we complained because fuel prices reached $0.23.

Mussolini was starting to assert his powers.

We saw a woman become a governor...well, not actually saw it. More like read about it.

I was an instant fan of Lou Gehrig of the New York Yankees.

Coolidge was President...a very conservative man, as I recall. He was Vice President before that, but Harding died.

My birthday is September 12, 1915.

    Yes, that's right. I'm 94 years old.

(not really, but that's what I tell everyone ingame. I'm really 44 going on 95.

    Servers down?

I verified files and now it works...weird.
  9. American_Angel

    Servers down?

The serve page says the servers are up, but I can't logon. Anyone know why?
  10. Dumb off the wall question...

...is WindowsXP PRO 32 or 64 bit?
  11. Darn it, that's what it was!

I have the same toon on all servers, and I forgot I had put them up for sale on Virtue instead of Freedom. Duh!

Thanks for the heads up, lol.
  12. I just checked the base logs, and they don't even show me removing the items from storage, yet they are totally gone!
  13. Before logging yesterday, I filled up the WW window on two different characters with high priced items for sale.

I checked just now, on both toons, and the windows are empty. I even gave it time to update. Tried dropping an inspir in the WW window (this sometimes speeds the update) and everything is totally gone!

So I thought maybe they did a roll back...checked my base storage...the items are not there either. A complete Gravitational Anchor set gone. A complete Oblit set gone. and several other misc expensive items...and by expensive I mean 30 million+, not salvage.

  15. Yesterday I wanted to use the sinister should pieces on a female villain toon. Unfortunately the appearred behind her shoulders instead of on them.

I don't know if it was a temp glitch or something the devs need to work in a fix for. Just a heads up.

funny, I thought running a test 10 times in a row was factual...

And I am not talking since the fix, I'm talking this week things have changed.
  17. Doesn't work. I normally fight at +2/+8 and that is when I noticed the issue this past week or so. I lterally was getting next to nothing for almost the entire week.

I did the test in +4/+8 because I knew some people here would insist I needed to increase the difficulty.

And fyi...I clear +4's at nearly the same speed as +2's...maybe a 5 minute difference.
  18. Forgot to mention...I went with strictly the Free Shipping items on all my orders from NewEgg.

An Example of a Daily Deal:
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 750GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare ...
    • 750GB
    • 7200 RPM 32MB Cache
    • SATA 3.0Gb/s
    $69.99 - Free Shipping
  19. NewEgg.com sometimes has OS for $99, FYI

I built my own system. The mobo (motherboard) is backward and forward compatible, meaning it will take a Pentium D Processor of a Quad Core, and anything in between. At the time, I did it because I could not afford to replace my Pentium D, and I was on a very tight budget.

Out of my old computer, I took the DVD drives, the floppy drive and the fans. The rest I used for a basic school work system for my kids.

I also took 2-3 months to slowly get the parts first, which not only fit into my budget, but also allowed me to get some good Daily Deals. The last thing I got was a new CPU, because I came into some money and that has the shortest warranty.

In my new one, here's what I bought at at around the prices I can remember:
    • Mobo (motherboard) Gigabyte $65 on daily deals
    • Compete Case off Daily Deals $30
I spent a week researching the case. I wanted something snazzy looking that had no sharp edges. Ended up with this beautiful Black and Yellow one, mid-sized. I mean it is a beauty...people compliment it when they see it, and the only light on it is the front grill. It came with a couple fans.
    • Power Supply - $40
The cases sometimes come with these, but in doing my reading of the reviews, the included power supplies often suck. So I bought a new one (around 900 watts).
    • Ram $25x2=$50
My board is expandable to 6 gb of ram, but I was doing this on the cheap, so I got just 2 gb. G-Skill I think. I am still running Win XP until I know the Win 7 has worked out most of the bugs...just prefer it. Vista was just out at the time for about a year, and there was no way I was making that switch, even though a friend gave me a disk.
    • Video Card $65
Let me say this...many people will say for this you have to spend big money...that's bull. I got a Sparkle brand one for $65 that is equiv. to a GeForce 9400 GT. My graphics have never looked so good. I run 3 instances of CoH sometimes on my system with this video card, 2 gb of ram and a 2.0 Dual Core and although I only set one instance to high settings (the highest with world detail turned down) I have very little trouble. Zoning is the only real delay, and I've found that zoning one at a time works better in such cases). I mean, I had a 250 mb card before this one and the difference is indescribable. From the Toons to the water.
And that's all I had to buy. I was smart, I had my other computer built for me before that, so it had an original copy of Win XP Pro instead of a restore disk, so I just used that on my new system.

Some of the Prices have gone up since then, but if you are patient you can get amazing deals. And always read the reviews, at least 10 per product. Not only to the reveal weaknesses, but you can learn things from them for use in building your system.

On my Mobo, I learned I can overclock it from 2.0 to 3.0 (I have only done it once out of curiousity).

I have never overheated my system. Once in a blue moon, I DC....but that's because of the cable provider I think...or server overload at times.

In two months, I am building my wife a new system and upgrading mine. I might switch to Win 7 then, or at least buy it so I can use it when ready.

I forgot to mention, I used my old hard drives in the new system too. A 160 GB and an old 80 GB Sata I use for client files.

    Upgrades in hte near future:
    • going from 2 gb to 6 gb ram
    • getting a 2tb hard drive
    • I want to put a PVR card in so I can record my cable shows to my PC...always wanted to do it, and then will be the time.
    • Maybe a new monitor
  20. Back when the new SK system was put in, the drop rates were affected. They were fixed shortly thereafter.

Well, I'm here to warn people they are broke again.

As a test, I went on 10 BM Farm runs yesterday, all set to +4 levels, +8 Players with bosses.

During those 10 runs, my character looted a grand total of 2 regular io recipes and one piece of salvage...and maybe 10 inspriations.

After 10 runs on the highest setting possible.

This was the only way I could think of to test the system, and I think it makes it clear. Something broke the system again.

The toon is a katana scrapper, and he can even see his weapon when he draws it. Has anyone ever had this happen, and if so, WTF is going on? Any help would be appreciated.
This is NOT just windows 7.

While on a hami raid the other day, I noticed, as a buffer, that several people were disapearing. But if I moved my 3rd person camera around, I would see them at certain angles.

So this is an actual bug...at least in that zone.
  22. This idea should be fairly easy for the Devs to implement.

To celebrate Independence day, give all characters a 10 charge roman candle that fires into the sky and explodes into nifty fireworks. That way, all the players can work together to create a celebration display.

Well, it doesn't matter. As I said in the other post, you go to blue side at 9:30 am and try to form a Posi TF. You can't do it as fast as you claim. Period.

And as far as the numbers...look at the freaking numbers before you say we're wrong. Subscriptions have dropped drastically.

    Edit:
JUST TO BACK UP MY WORDS:

According to the earnings report, City of Heroes accounted for 8% of NC Soft's earnings in the 3rd quarter of LAST YEAR.

This year, CoH accounted for only 4% of their earnings in the 3rd quarter.

    Subscriptions were halved.

There's your truth. Deal with it.
  25. You people are such suckers, lol.

You're paying $10 for 4 emotes and a Prestige Sprint.
