  1. A big freaking sword already !!!!!!!!
  2. Keep in mind that even if you do mess up you can do a respec mission which will allow you to choose the powers all over again. You cannot change your primary and secondary, but you can reselect every power you have taken and the enhancements as well. You dont have to reroll the character.

    Enjoy your dark/firey goodness....
  3. Mids works just fine. It really doesnt need to be updated every single issue unless there are major changes to powers. I use Mids all the time...
  4. I have an SS/SR brute which I enjoy quite a bit. The only issue I have had is when you have those moments when the rolls are just not in your favor and there is no heal to save your bacon. However despite that because Foot Stomp ( soon to be changed to Ground Punch YAY !!! ) offers good mitigation my brute can usually survive quite nicely. I tried to build in as much defense and regen as possible and I have found that helps me a lot and I always have Elude in the bag when I need it. Its a fun build. There are many good sets. I have an Elec/Shield and intend to make a Claws/WP or Claws/Electric when it comes out. I try to make a build effective but ultimately for me it has to be fun.
  5. A very well thought out and interesting post. My issue however is that defender damage is quite low and since attacks are its secondary they should be a little better at it. I look at defenders and I think they should be the second best ranged AT hero side but their multiplier is too low. It needs a boost.

I am concerned about how GR will affect defender not because I think people will choose a Corruptor over a Defender fpr teams but because I think people will just roll one instead. Defender are already challenged to a degree because of the AE mission constant demand for " healers " and many people are ignorant of what other defender primaries are capable of.

Yet I found your post very interesting and insightful and I think you should even make an "Introduction to the Defender " Guide or something for newbies so theu can understand the value of having that FF bubbler or Cold Domination to who doesnt heal on their team.
  6. My vote for something far more visible like Waterspout or Scirroco's power.. This should have been done years ago.
  7. Yes it does redraw. I only have one Rifle Power which is Heavy Burst so that really doesnt affect me very much.
  8. Vigilance needs to be reworked into something that works for the defender that isnt based on the team taking damage. This was developed seeming around one type of defender. The Empath. It doenst help the dark defender. It doesnt help the Rad defender. The FF defender gets nothing out of it because of the team doesnt take any damage then the vigilance doesnt do a thing. Its a stupd stupid mechanic that needs to be changed.

And defender values dont seem to be correct sometimes IMO. Oftentimes a controller with a defender primary is better than the defender itself because of the Controller Primary.. They get the controls, pets, containment damage AND buffs and debuffs ???? That allows them to do just as well as a defenders primary even though the values might be slightly higher for the defender. My Kin/Elec defender doesnt seem to drain end any better than my Elec/Elec blaster who us built for end drain ( not counting transfusion )

And on a side note the Electric Epic Pool for defenders blows... Why in the world do I have Thunderstrike in the elec pool and why does it come very early in the set before PowerSink when one would thing that PowerSink is FAR more defenderish than Thunderstike.. and a Single Target Immobilze ??? REALLY ?????? I mean REALLY ??? and then there is a single target hold later in the same set.. Come on...The Blaster set got EM Pulse... that seems WAY more Defenderish to me.. I would trade Thunderstrike in the set for EM Pulse even with the large recharge time any day of the week...

But back to defenders in general.. Damage.. Damage ona defender is just plain hurtful. The defender secondary is DAMAGE the problem is the defender is TERRIBLE at dishing out the damage. We need a damage boost.. badly.. Thats one of the things that holds defenders back and I dont care how you slice it. The very thing we are supposed to be second best at the defender does VERY VERY poorly. Worse that its cousin the corruptor. I play corruptors and they feel a WHOLE lot better than defenders do.

Defenders need help and they have needed it for a WHILE.. Its time to pay attention to the defender.. NOT the Healer.. ( looking at you vigilance )...

    The DEFENDER...
  9. My suggestions are as follows.

Absolutely shorten the recharge time on the Spec Ops special abilities like stuns and the tear gas.

Remove the AoE Grenade from the Medic and give it to the Spec Ops so they can get some AoE Make the medic buff ME before anyone else on the team (hate that fact he seems to ignore me and I pay him).

The Spec Ops stealth does nothing. Either give them some kind of Critical hit or Stealth Snipe or remove it totally.

Reduce the end cost for the Commando he burns through end fast. Also shorten the timer on his AoE attack as well.
  10. I love dinging 50 even after doing it 20 plus times. Then I usually go back and look at my creation and see where I can make improvements. What I have been doing lately is going back and looking at some of my first 50's and finding ways I can make them what I call ULTIMATES with better slotting, or by adding new IO sets that were not available when they were conceived.

Sometimes my concept changes. The toon grows our becomes more powerful. He makes a new battle armor or a new expirement changes his ability. His mutation adapts and he changes.

I am getting excited about issue 16. New scrapper combos that I have always wanted... Metal Spines FTW !!!! Rad Blaster.. FINALLY !!!!! Electric Tank.. hmmm maybe its time for a another tank... then Going Rogue DUAL PISTOLS !!! yeah !!!!!
  11. Here is my current build on live. I still have a lot of Hami-O's so I used them.

  12. If you are looking for a ton of damage from a tank, you are looking at the wrong AT. I would suggest a scrapper or a brute on the Redside (Villians). Tanks are designed to be AT's that TAKE a lot of damage, manage aggro, and help control the battlefield but keeping the fire concentrated on the tank because they can take it better than anyone else on the team.
  13. There better be a Dual Pistols secondary.. I want a complete set. I dont want to be Dual Pistols/Devices or Dual Pistols/Energy
  14. What do you mean by most powerful? Most powerful means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.
  15. Thanks for the Guide Local. I already had a Ill/Rad that was almost perma PA but your guide made me take a look at my build again and I can see where I can add some more sets where I can get down to perma PA.

    Thanks again.
  16. I am currently at 751% regen with one foe in range and a maximum of 1093% regen with 8 foes in range.
  17. Nope wont need it and as has already been said you will already be a very very end heavy toon as is...
  18. Going on my Brute as SOON as it comes out..
  19. Depends on your secondary.. mine was Psi so I am in Melee a lot so I use hotfeet and cinders is a nice OH CRAP power.

    Comic Con Panel

I am very excited. I can finally make a metallic spines scrapper I have been wanting to make for a long time.

I am excited to see the ability to change some animation of SS punched. The ground punch is something that will defnitely go on my brute.

I might finally roll a MA scrapper because I hated all those kicks in the set.

And we are getting some more Power Proliferation too.. to be followed at some time in the future by Going Rogue...

Looks like CoH will be getting my money for a while yet !!!
  21. Yes because scrappers are definitely underperforming

    /sarcasm off
  22. Airhammer

    Arch/Device

Its a concept build to be sure. but his name is SureShot.. What I love most is when I fight Arachnos.. I laugh at the smoke grenades.. I also enjoy when Paragon Protectors go Elude.. yeah right.. I still have a pretty decent chance to him them. (92% tohit buff when I hit Aim... 32% when running toggles)

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    - I have never seen once a defender turned down for a team because of their inherent power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    True.

But... I HAVE seen Defenders turned down, because they are Defenders.

I have witnessed someone kicking a good Defender out of a team, to make room for a Controller.

And I have experienced the boggling and dubts that accompany trying to find a team, and not just being ignored, but being rejected.

It has gotten better since then - it seemed when I started the game there was "lol defenders" phase going on... but it sticks with me.

I keep hearing how awsome Defenders are... but I have yet to SEE it. I have yet to EXPERIENCE it. All I've seen is that they start off as pathetic, and - with time, effort, and at least 22 levels of pain and masachism behind them - they can turn into something... mediocre.

So! I have no scary number to back myself up. Just a feeling in my gut that... something's broken, and it needs to be fixed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you are expecting defenders to become something really awesome solo that might be a problem because many defenders struggle soloing. Defenders tend to shine best in team play

Put at least two defenders on your team whose job is to buff and debuff.. not just heal...

And watch you tear through mobs..

Put three on your team and you steamroll.

Four and your team is a juggernaut...

Defenders are a very underrated AT. I am seriously thinking of writing a guide to the NON Empath Defender so people will know what other defenders bring to the table.

    Arch/Device

Here is my Arch/Device names SureShot. I basically wanted him to be extremely accurate and I tried to make up for damage in sets for the lack of build up because of Targeting Drone.
