There are enough flying enemies in the game that hoverblasting will not always keep you out of melee range of everything. So, you need something with -fly to get the flyers away from you. My Sonic/Devices has both....I just like smacking stuff outta my face, even though I could just use my webnade. Also, it's nice to have a back up plan in case one misses.

Power Push slotted with Three Damage Range HO's keeps EVERYTHING out my face.. in fact it never gets near my face...

Slug starts out at range 100 - 4 slotted with Devastation + 2 Centrioles + boost range = range 200
M30 Grenade starts out at range 80 - 5 Slot Posi (all but the proc) plus 1 centriole + boost range = range 156

LRM Rocket starts out at range 150 - 5 Slot Posi (all but the proc) plus 1 centriole + boost range = range 293

The short stuff like Flame Thrower and Buckshot are just a couple feet off of standard range.

teleport + hover is the transportation method of choice. Teleport + Boost range = fastest travel in the game.

I have this as well !!! It Rocks !!!

Now, what I want to know is why people stick to Mids, and why they only stick to Flavor builds that 1 Min/Max suggjests to another?

Well first of there is a reason people use Mids. Its an excellent hero planner. Before Mids existed I was writing down power choices and slot choices on pieces in notebooks. Keep in mind there was a time in the game when there were NO RESPECS which means if you messed it up.. you were STUCK with it.. no way to fix slots or power choices. Mids allowed players to see the choices one would make before they actually made them.

Mids does not suggest a build or tell you how to build your character. Its only a tool and it happens to be a very effective tool.

Secondly as far as FOTM or Min/Max builds and I will be upfront I believe this a bit of arrogance on your part because you often tend to put for this attitude like the way you do things or the way you make your characters is totally unique and different from everyone else.

First off you cant see a build. You can see AT and you can see power choices. You cannot see slotting. What SO's,IO's or HO's they have slotted. They way you use these slots and enhancements can change the way a toon plays.

You also have no idea how many toons on how many servers someone may have or may be playing.

I get flak from other players and booted from teams before missions begin, as well as have minor to cases of extreem biast when I play something that they dont commonly see when it comes to builds.Lets not forget a snarky player that belive your combonation is horrible and lets you know they feel that way.Reguardless if the combo is good or not.

I know alot of you on these boards claim you dont have this issue when you play with other people. Odds are, your playing what they play or whats common. I however dont.
The statement I have placed in bold is actually the type of arrogant attitude I am referring to.

    Quote:

I know this subject acctually angers people, and everyone wants to belive they are individuals, but im still not understanding how thats a possiblity when almost everyone plays mostly the common builds that everyone else does?
Again you have NO idea what everyone else is playing. You are seeing what someone ,ight be playing at that time.

When I see 20 Blasters ranging from level 1 to 50 under Atlas. With common or identical combos and looking like a Mercinary re-hash, or Hit Man likeness. All with the Dual Pistols Primary, and 1 of 2 Common Secondaries like Energy Melee or Mental Manipulation. It makes me ask why.
Well lets see. Dual Pistols is NEW.. No different than when Trick Arrow as new and there were people dressed like Archers running around.. Mercenaries use Guns.. Hit Men use guns.. Is it really shocking that in a FANTASY game people will live out a fantasy.. SHOCKING !!!

Now as far as secondaries Energy and Mental Manipulation are considered the best blaster secondaries and for good reason.

Most the Scrappers and Tankers I see anymore are basically Willpower or Shield Defense with either Super Strength, Mace, or Fire Melee when it comes to the Tankers, and Elec Melee and Fire Melee mostly for Scrappers as common now days. [quote]

Shield.. New.. SHield and Mace obviously go togther... Scrappers do one thing really really well cause damage.. is it a shock that Scrappers will take sets like Elec Melee and Fire Melee that do really good AoE damage ??

Personally I dont think any of your builds are that uncommon. I just believe you think they are

    My uncommon builds are.

    Dark/Dark - Tanker

Seen plenty of these.. Especially when they first became available. Most likely a lot of people leveled these and stopped playing them

    Storm/Elec - Defender

Are you serious ??? You are very late to the game. Ive seen tons of these over the 60+ months I have played across several servers...

    Cold/Ice - Defender

Not that uncommon. I have one at level 50 and I know Several people that have one as well

    Rad/Ice - Blaster

    Definitely uncommon.

    Earth/Earth - Dominator

Earth/Earth is a new set and the villian poplation isnt as large.

    Ice/Sonic - Controller
    Traps/Rad - Defender

    These two are somewhat uncommon

    Spines/Invln - Scrapper

Not hardly.. Ive seen numerous one of these over the years...

You arent the only person playing or trying different builds.. Just because you dont SEE them doesnt mean they arent out there..

My builds that I consider Uncommon.. all at level 50

    Grav/Kinetic Controller
    Elec/Kin Corruptor
    Arch/Devices Blaster
    Ice/Storm Controller
    Merc/Trick Arrow Mastermind
    Fire/Fire Tank
    Inv/Nrg Melee Tank
    SuperStrength/SR Brute
    Ice/Cold Controller

Try enjoying the game... and branch out from Freedom
  6. My Elec/Kin is now 50 and thanks to all the posters on this thread. I enjoyed him much more than my Kin/Elec defender. I drains mobs better because the Short Circuit/Power Sink Combo comes sooner. The ability to do more damage than the defender is a nice plus as well.

Now waiting for Elec Dominator and Elec Controller.
  7. I dont make a big deal about being mezzed. Blaster get mezzed. Controller get mezzed. Defenders get mezzed... If you get mezzed eat a Break Free. Thats what they are there for.
  8. I just pray there is no sleep power.. cause thats just a power I will skip..
  9. Problem is my blaster is more effective at draining end from a Mob than my defender ever was. So is my corruptor. The blaster gets Short Circuit and Power Sink much earlier than the defender and so did the corruptor.

I hope there is an AoE end drain that works from range myself.
  10. I reallt dont want to see a sleep in this set at all. Sleeps are somewhat useless on teams. End drain will be a component of the Electric Controller. I expect no less. I am hoping to get some Lightning Field ala Hot Feet. I dont think we will get Lightning Reflexes.

I have been able to make End Drain work quite well on a Elec/Elec Blaster and on a Elec/Kin Corruptor. I am planning to go Elec/Storm or Elec/Kin controller and Elec/Elec Dominator. I would like the end drain to work well with one power. We should get something like what the Malta Sappers use...
  11. I went three Nucleos and three End reduc IOs found that worked really well..

    Dual Pistols

I was on a team with three level 50 DP blasters and they couldnt kill a thing.. I was amazing with all the bullets flying around nothing was really dying...

    Electric armor

I love reading Fire_Minded posts, They are often filled with such passion....

SuperStrength goes very well with Elec. First off Foot Stomp is excellent mitigation for incoming damage for the tanker. Rage also adds a nice to hit buff and an excellent damage buff. The Rage crash is often an issue for must tanks but the Elec tank who takes PowerSink can run Rage as often as he wants meaning you could pretty much have a 20% to hit buff and 80% Damage buff 80%-90% of the time. Having an Elec/SS at 50 for a while now I can tell you it works very very well.

Fire_Minded comments about Stone Melee are wrong. Stone Melee has excellent mitigation. Tremor as a knockdown and Fault as a stun both allow you to keep foes on their back or disoriented. Fault also works range ( although its small range ) and can help your friends out as well. Having an Ice/Stone tank at 50 I for over two years I can tell you that /Stone Melee is excellent mitigation.

    Or something.

The cap on a Delorean is 88mph.
  21. I went Rad/Mental with the Electric pool for one more AoE.. its fun...

True but really fun in later levels IMO..
