I have a Merc/TA at level 50 and it is a very enjoyable toon. Mercs will get a lot better once you get your Commando and your second upgrade. Traps will work very well as a secondary to go with a "natural" Theme. I like TA as it really does provide some utiity powers and debuffs enemies which helps the Mercs damage.
Make sure you look at the guides for Binds to help control your Mercs. I use some very simple macros which I got from a guide since i found that I really cant play well with the keypad. I find that Mercs are best near me and working at range. -
id say no. Its a good power if you need to block a doorway or something of that nature where the knockback is useful.
Id say you shoud be looking at Hasten, and Assault and Tactics which will help your team AND your pets. -
Shield/Fire Tank is a good option. You could also go Willpower/Fire Tank with the Pyre APP.
-
I expect no problem with Doms. Many people I know NEVER play redside at all. Some of the AT's they see on TF's but thats about it. I expect that many people will be surprised at how effecient some of the villian AT's can be.
Doms are kind of thought of it seems as the ******* child of villianside and i think many people will have their eyes opened. -
Ive got lots of tanks.. very few brutes..Its more of a theme thing in my head. Most of my tanks are protectors. I see this toon with the Rularuu shield and hammer as more of a savage striker and that says Brute in my head.
-
Im going with the hammer.... Now Im just deciding if I go Brute or Tank..
-
-
Looking to make a new build. Want to use the Rularru weapons. Which set do you like better and why ??
-
Blasters can debuff although not as good as other AT's.
Ice as you mentions has slows and I believe Psi does as well
Rad Blasters can debuff defense making foes easier to hit
Sonic Blasters can debuff resistance causeing foes to take more damage.
Dual Pistons have Swap Ammo which gives them two debuff choices.
However ALL Blaster have the ability to hand out the ULTIMATE debuff.....
Defeated Foes.... -
Quote:What makes this game the most fun IMO is the community itself. It has the greatest community of any game I have played. There are people in this game that I have known now for over five years. We have become friends. We enjoy playing together and having fun talking and sharing.I did read about so called Task Forces, but was unable to find player in game willing to team with me.
What does CoH offer aside of soloing some random missions and "protect the Bank" every 3 missions?
Are there any active Guilds (Supergroups)?
Are there any PvE contend worth raiding? Are there actual raids?
Or is this game just about dressing your avatar fancy, which would explain the boosterpacks I saw in the store.
Sorry, no insult meant. Just wondering what keeps people play this game.
Apparently you are only doing the radio missions. There are contact that have mission that are entire storylines some of which are very interesting and very fun.
There are more active SG's than I think I could count on any given server.
PvE content raids that are worth raiding.. SURE there is the Hamidon raid and the Rikti Mothership raid. Both fun events where you can meet tons of new people.
What you get out of the game is up to you. I like getting new powers and experience and taking my characters to different levels. I try different powers combinations to see what I can come up with. I constantly look over and tweak all my characters mainly because I enjoy building and tinkering.
I suggest that you try and find the better global channels for the server you are on so that you can find out what is happening and who is doing what.
And above all HAVE FUN !!! -
Here is my build as it is on live.. It works very very well. Good Melee defense. It has some IO's and HO's. I got a lot of the Numina's and Miracles way early when issue 9 first dropped so this stuff is more expensive now. But the build works well. I used to have consume but I rarely used it so I switched it for burn to get more melee defense.

I built in a lot of melee defense. Right now I am at 33% and with healing flames popping back in about 15-20 seconds I can survive pretty well. I can at least take a lot of stuff down before it takes me down. I solved end issues but it was expensive to do so, but worth it.
-
That was always my fear was that redside would become an absolute ghost town. All my villians are undercover heroes by design but now I wont need to ove them all the way to hero and back to vigilante. They can keep their " undercover " status by being a rogue ( which plays well theme wise for me ) and have access to the entire market.
-
Im thinking NRG or Devices because of theme.
-
Ill be rolling one as soon as it goes live !!!!
-
Reason to get the Presense Pool !!!!
-
Every tank, brute or scrapper I have ever made gets tough and weave. Even the Stone I made for my wife has it.
-
I dont necessarily need an epic.. and I would like to thank everyone who has given me some advice..
Thank You very much.. -
You can get defense without taking the ice armor. I dont want it on my blaster because it doesnt make sense for his build. When I build a toon it has to fit the theme of the character because that is what is the most important for me. I am not looking to get to the soft cap on defense. I am looking for more defense than I have which is zero.
-
-
Thanks but definitely not doing the Ice Armor thing. Its gotta fit within the theme for me to use it.
-
I have a Rad/Fire that has a lot of PbAoE and would be best in melee but I have never built a lot of defense into a blaster but I know many have done so.
WHat are some of the tips, powers and IO sets that people are using to make it happen ??
Thanks in advance -
I have both Doms and Trollers.. and to me its very simple..
BOTH are viable.. and both can be enjoyable depending in build and playstyle. IMO controls are about more than holds its about how you affect the mob overall to minimize incoming damage to the team and to defeat them quickly.
Controllers do this through control and debuffs. Dominators do it through contol and damage.
