Electric uses a mix of soft controls, that depending on the secondary used can totally can completely neutralize a spawn of foes.
I have a level 50 Elec/Rad called Lockdown...
He is called that for a reason. -
Quote:agreed. This is my main complaint about this. This system was great 5 years BEFORE IO's existed. Plain and simple the system needs an upgrade...I'm completely with Gypsy of Paradox that the notion that getting back 10 enhancements from a respec is "generous" is quite antiquated and not in step with how the game has progressed.
The fact that you can only hold 10 enhancements is irrelevant, there certainly have to be other alternatives available. Even allowing e-mail to be accessible during a respec would allow for another 20 enhancments to be held. I think that (30) would be a magic number to satisfy those of us that find the current respec restrictions insufficient. Certainly there are other more creative ways to go about this as well. -
Quote:The current respec system is outdated, it should have been updated when i9 hit with inventions. The old system was fine, because it was quick and easy to replace SOs. A new system is needed to reflect our current invention system. Plain and simple its a QoL feature long overdue.
Ya know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I will not reslot ANY of my builds around the Alpha Slot. They will be used to shore up other areas of my builds.

Quote:Because my Ice runs a ton of toggles and he does have damage resistance through Tough. I build tanks mainly to do one thing mostly. Take as much damage as they can as long as they can.My other high level tank is Ice. Why would you put Cardio in an Ice tank? They have one of the best endurance recovery powers ever, and have almost no damage resistance powers. My Ice tank will be choosing between Musculature and Nerve...not sure yet. The Dark is my priority right now.
The Cardiac has some interest only to see if I could move Hoarfrost to perma status.
I dont need any Extra Accuracy, nor the defense buff ( have enough defense ) so for me the Nerve is out.
Damage is a luxury for me on that tank. He does enough and can hold his own. -
Im outiffing as I go and hopefully the market will normalize in a few weeks.
-
In all honesty I like Ice quite a bit the way it it. It is a low damage set, but not all controller sets need to be for damage. Depending on the secondary you choose, you can create IMO one of the most powerful sets for completely shutting down a mob and I have done it quite a few times over the years on my Ice/Storm and now on my Ice/Cold.

I was able to burn through about six respecs last night, but again I had them all planned out.
I did have to burn two respecs on one toon to remove everything I wanted to transfer off.
See for me the enhancement " locked " argument doesnt work because the respec unlocks everything anyway.
However this is a small point and doesnt affect me that often.
I would LOVE an easier interface. And I agree I woud LOVE to be able to have a chat window while respecing. -
The problem with the Tank concept for MANY people it seems to me is that they confuse the concept of the Tank with the concept of what is most commonly called in Super Hero RPG and Comicdom as the "BRICK".
The classic Brick character can take a hellacious amount of damage but it also dishes out an incredible amount of damage as well usually in Comicdom or PNPRPG Pen and Paper 0 world through because of massive strength.
Then there is the TankMage style character who can pretty much do all and be all and doesnt really need a team because they can beat almost anyone or anything by themselves.
I believe many come to CoH expecting the TANK to be this and are sorely dissappointed when its not. They fail to grasp the Tank concept well and see a scrapper outdamaging a Tank and since what they REALLY want to do is damage the get frustrated with the Tank AT. -
End and Damage Resistance will make a big difference IMO. I run a ton of toggles and the extra resistance to S/L stacked on top of Tough will be nice...
hmmmm Perma Hoarfrost ??????????? maybe......
runs to Mids !!!!!!!!!!!!! -
No brainer for me.
Shields, Ice Tanks, Dark, Inv will get Cardial Boost End redux/Damage Resistance
Fire/Fire will get Accuracy and Defense Buff -
Quote:This.. perfect. It would be nice if they put it in a separate tab or something. It could then even be organized a little better, so I don't have to scan the whole list to see if I have more than 5 of the same bonus name.
Something like:
Moderate Damage Bonus: x2
Small Smash/Lethal Defense Bonus: x1
and so on... -
I had no problem with this on test, but it didnt work ONCE for me yesterday.
-
Ha. Im still too busy doing respecs...
-
The Tanker AT depending on the build and the choice or powers ( as well as the intelligence of the builder ) IMO will always be the most survivable AT possible. I have IO'd brutes to the soft cap and it was MUCH more expensive to do so than a tank. I dont have any defense based scrappers and in all honesty I find scrappers the most boring AT in the game. Ive made two and thats probably all I will ever make.
A scrapper is not as tough as a tank. A scrapper at the soft cap will have less hit points than a tank and their resistance cap is much lower than a tank as well. -
The OP ( me ) has already dealt with doing multiple respecs and believe me I have LOTS of respecs available on my creations so if I need to burn an extra one I can. I think they could easily add 2-5 slots to make it EASIER and less likely to need to burn extra respecs and I dont think that is game breaking.
However my MAIN issue is that the interface is slow and time consuming. I am already looking at respecing 40+ toons and I know of people that have literally 100+.
I'll give one example. The Power Tray. Every time I respec I have to write down the order of all the powers in my tray. There SHOULD be a way that can be saved. Also every times I respec the FIRST thing added back into the power tray is all this crap like "walk" and the fire extiguisher power I have left over from 5 years ago and crap like that. Thats just one example.
When I get home I am going to see how many I can do before I got to bed. Now I have ALL of them done in Mid's AND I have every slot figured out and ALL the changes I am going to make. I figured them out WEEKS ago. I have gotten pretty good a blazing through a respec and I STILL think the interface could be updated and made smoother.
I am VERY glad to hear they fixed the itty bitty number thing. -
No as a 78 month vet I have LOTS of free respecs. Thats never an issue. The issue isnt that I need MORE respecs. Most of my toons have at least three or more from Vet Awards and thats not counting some that still have freespecs and MANY have never run a respec mission.
I use Mids whenever I build a toon so normally I am doing pretty well as far as builds go.
My issue is that the interface needs to be made a little simpler. hopefully taking less time and I do have an issue when one desires to move lets say two full sets of some IO's off one toon to another toon. That would requite TWELVE slots and we only have ten. I cant tell you how many times I have had to respec a toon TWICE to move just TWO IO's or Hami-O's off from one toon to another. I could understand this back in the day when it was just SO's and you could sell them and get a large portion of what you invest BACK in terms of influence.
However in the todays world with IO's which often are slotted 5-6 deep to get full advantage of a set, I dont think its outside of the realm of reason to ask for 12-15 spaces for enhancements in the respec window to facilitate moving IO's and Hami-O's -
Pretty much all I have is 50's ( I have 3-4 in the early to mid 40's ) and thats all I play.

Quote:Pretty much nails it..Ok. I think I understand.
1. You dont want to do missions/content for the sake of unlocking "rewards."
2. You want all "rewards" available no mater what.
3. Youll only do content/missions because you feel like it, not because you have to.
4. You dont want people/devs/game telling you to do missions to experience content but will do those same exact missions to experience content as long as you wanted to on your own.
did i get that right? -
I never built anything for Psi on my WP and in all honesty I think people go overboard worrying about Psi as if it is the kiss of death for all tanks. Every single one of my tanks can handle Psi damage although they all do it differently.
First off realize that if you defense is positional it will help against Psi. Secondly a WP is already pretty well built to handle Psi attacks as their set is called WILLpower. Its is their strength of will or resolve that allows them to do some of the things they do. Also your regen is a major help as well. -
You know im not even focused on what we ARENT getting... I mean they are GOING to release it at some point. Ill be too bust focusing on respecs and reoutfitting first and THEN figuring out what toon gets what Alpha Slot.

Quote:Don't forget perma-dull pain can put your hitpoints way above most other sets... which is a huge boost to survability. If something has to hit you 6-7 times to kill you through soft-cap'd defenses, that's just not going to happen.
mmmmmmmmmmmm Perma Dul Pain....
My Inv has it.. hovers near the soft cap.. maxed out Smashing Lethal resistance and actually has decent resistance to Psi with Impervium Armor, Aegis and Impervium Unique and Crushing Impacts... and still has Unstoppable in his back pocket. -
I did mine simply by removing the fitness pool and not using the slots I applied to it.
