Not to new Players of the game. I've seen several members that were "Wowed" by wings, Rocket Boots, etc... ask how to get them.
It would be nice to be able to store some, for such players. Just starting out, they can't afford them. They can hardly afford to stay enhanced without help.
[/ QUOTE ]
New players could easily afford any costume recipe they fancied by level 10 if they would do regular missions instead of powerleveling thru the AE.
Sorry to go off topic like that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you have any facts to back this up? A player can barely afford slotting powers let alone spending 100k on costume parts in the early levels. Same amount of kills net about the same amount of XP/inf. let it be Missions, AE, street sweeping. You trade salvage drops for tickets which helps on slotting powers in the AE. No one really uses the market until they get a travel power, unless they are supported by a higher level. So AE toons actually have more influence on hand. Heck, when I rolled a VEAT doing missions, I didn't get my first salvage drop until like level 6. When I was level 10 I had about 6 peices, hardly enough to buy a costume part of choice.
[/ QUOTE ]
What are you talking about - "No one really uses the market until they get a travel power, unless they are supported by a higher level. " Why wouldn't you use the market at any level you get salvage drops? That's why they have WW in Atlas & KR and BM in Mercy and Port Oakes (in fact, the PO market was added due to requests).
My low level alts on my less-populated servers all stand on their own, and they all use the market. They pick missions that will get them good drops (i.e., missions with mobs over level 4, usually Arcane foes) and sell them all at the market. I have taken the Level 10 challenge* a couple of times and ended up with 150-200K Inf* at the least.
If you don't want to use the tools available to you, that's your choice, but don't make over-generalizing statements like "no one without travel powers uses the market" because you are flat wrong.
* Level 10 Challenge - Start a new character. Level the character to level 10 by whatever means floats your boat, keeping Enhancements at least white if not green, purchasing them as needed. Sell all drops at the Market for minimal prices (1-25 Inf). I haven't tried it specifically in MA, but I do have a low level AE character who has turned in tickets and sold the resulting salvage (random commons) at WW. She has over 600K Influence right now at level 10.
Back on topic - Costume pieces are the only type of recipe storage I would really like to see, for the purposes of handing them out as CC prizes. Storage for other recipes, I'm pretty mch "meh" about. -

Mainly discussing someone's rant that he posted in response to your question.
The main consensus in response to your question is that a little light RP (conversing as if your were actually your character) can be fun. Lying about your personal info (mainly about your gender) is a big "turn-off" for some people. It isn't that uncommon for people to gender-bend while RPing, in fact to some people that makes it even more fun, since you are trying to get into the head of someone very much not like yourself.
I think that's the high points. -

OK - good to know.
Then I'm not planning on it either since I like it as it is now. -
[ QUOTE ]
CoX is less "skill" based (i.e. physical hand-eye coordination, twitch reflexes, etc) than it is tactics based, for me. A monkey could hit the buttons and move the mouse, but it takes the ability to plan ahead a little and also to adapt to a changing situation to know when to use what power so as to maximize the effect of yours or your teammates' assault.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is why I play it, BTW.
I never learned any of those "twitch" skills as a youngster (just slighty too old to play with the Atari 2600, which was obviously a little kid game for my younger siblings. /jk)
If there was anything more required than understanding what enemies might do what and how to prevent them from doing that and killing me - I wouldn't be here. -

I like Flight - it's cool and superheroey and pretty safe, as well as being the only power I can put on auto-run. -

"Dominator Buff/Nerf in i15"
Buff?
I play a Plants/Mind Dominator. I have no buff. In fact, from the looks of things, as soon as this goes live I will become fairly useless.
[/ QUOTE ]
So an overall damage scale increase ACROSS THE BOARD for Dominators totally isn't a buff if individual powersets are tweaked?
I presume you have tested this, right? -
<QR>
Elessar - I thought you were trying your trial account out on Protector?
Is there any reason why you don't want to stay there?
On picking a server - make a bunch of characters, spread out over the servers. Find the one that seems the most fun and play there, keeping other characters in reserve for when you get bored with the first one or the server has difficulties. -

So you're saying he plays women who are people, not two-dimensional stereotypes or glorified Barbie dolls.
Fancy that. How unthinkable. Who on Earth does THAT? =P

From that point on...I just assume punch RPers in the face. They're useless if you ask me. Dudes RPing as chicks......get a life. Seriously.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, just from your experience with those two people, you've formed the conclusion that all RPers suck?
What if they really were girls and just didn't want to broadcast that to people? What if they really were guys and just didn't want to use vent?
So we're useless, but at least we (usually) stay away from non-RPers or, if we team with non-RPers, we don't force RP on them. We don't go around saying that PvPers/farmers/PvEers are useless (At least I don't).
It's our $15 a month, let us spend it on what we want. If you can't respect that, you should just leave.
[/ QUOTE ]
lol...I respect it just fine.
But there's a time to roll play and there's a time to be honest with those who spend a great amount of time helping you. We spent countless hours lvling, helping, instructing them on builds, tfs, ect and we didnt get the respect to know "who" these people were.
So yes, I formed an opinion about RPers in general. Get over it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just a quick point on this as well - this is the internet, and as you already pointed out - it's a video game.
How sure are you that you "know" anyone in your SG that you haven't met face-to-face and hung out with? Anyone you meet over the internets could also be a serial killer, but heaven forbid, they be someone male pretending to be female, because that's just such a foreign concept and so radically different from being male.
Obviously, I'm not going to convince you to change your position on males RPing being female, but lol at the concept that they were somehow cheating you from getting to "know" them. -
[ QUOTE ]
And to be honest, I kinda believe everyone is a guy on here unless I can confirm otherwise via Vent or some other method. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
The funny thing is...they were both excellant players. Its just a shame they had to RP and pretend they were someone else to enjoy the game. They werent brought in because they were female...they were added because they were good players...so I'll nip that in the bud before someone even goes there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, it's your opinion, and you are entitled to hold it. But you shared it with us in a public forum and you kinda have to expect that some of us are going to disagree with it. If you didn't want our comments, then don't post.
What difference is it that someone wants to pretend to be someone else in a Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Game? You already agreed that they were good players, so what harm did it do your own playtime experience to think (and truly by your own tale, you never actually confirmed) that they were playing someone they really weren't?
Of course, I guess you are actually a big brawny guy with a sword or can really shoot fire from your fingertips or something, right? Oh wait, you aren't? Then aren't you pretending to be something you aren't, as well?
OP's original question was to ask what was RP anyway - not a poll to take opinions about how many "dudes" are playing females out there.... -
[ QUOTE ]
We (The Stoned Templars) had 2 members who told us they were female and even went out of their way to maintain that "sex" in pretty much everything they did and said. Of course...they were "lesbian". *rolls eyes*
It wasnt until we added Vent and invited them that we came to the conclusion that they were both dudes. They both declined to use Vent every time we asked them to join it.
From that point on...I just assume punch RPers in the face. They're useless if you ask me. Dudes RPing as chicks......get a life. Seriously.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's painting with a pretty broad brush, isn't it?
Light RP can be a lot of fun. We have a regular TF team on Saturday where the leader pretty much stays in character throughout, so I try to do the same. We talk about how Sister Psyche has enlisted our aid, etc.
Assuming that *all* female RPers are "dudes" is flat out wrong. I'm female, all my characters are female, and I RP as female.
So try not to overgeneralize, mmkay? -

There is a new beacon for Pocket D. As always, you get the beacon while exploring in SG mode. On the second floor of the Rikti Monkey Fught Cages area in Pocket D is the only exploration badge you need, easy to pick up. (Note that the beacon appears to be broken - that is just how it looks, it still works.)
Raid pathing being turned off has resulted in some of the amazing construction we are seeing right now. Check out the stickied threads that are labelled "Issue 13 Whatever" - thast's when the major changes happened. Lots of good info & inspirations there. -
Short bookcases are the height of a single floor safe.
Taller bookcases are the height of 2 stacked floor safes.
Also, lateral files are the height of 3 stacked floor safes.
I love using stacked floor safes, can you tell? -
First of all - you are spending Prestige, not Infamy. Playing your character in SG mode is how you earn prestige.
Next - yes, you get a gift of 20,000 Prestige for the first 15 members to join your SG. That initial 300,000 Prestige can get a pretty nice basic base up and running. There are some guides stickied at the top of this forum which will help.
You will probably want to start with purchasing an Oversight Center (3X3 room, costs 50,000. That room can hold a basic Energy/Control item (costs 25,000) and a couple of Workshop items.
Bases are at least a small group activity, not really a solo activity. That being said, a solo Base is possible and has een done by many people. I will leave it to some of them to chime in with tips & pointers.
If you have the slots available on your server - make alts to fill all your slots. Invite someone you can reasonably trust t the SG as well. Have the second person invite all your alts and then quit the SG - voila! 240,000 Prestige. Many of the folks who regularly post here in Base Construction are willing to be that second person for you. I can do it for servers other than Liberty, Infinity, Triumph or Guardian. -

Cubicles are pretty easy. Just put the cubicle wherever you need to float something - the cubicle can be intersecting the teleporter in the previous example. Then stick the item on the cubicle wall. Then remove the cubicle.
With the size of the cubicle wall, you have a pretty wide range of positions available. The person who floated the beacons and lights probably did both at the same time and then removed the cubicle.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's exactly what I did - good catch. -
After you decide where you want your floated object to be, place a cubicle, aligning it so that one wall is the same plane as where the object will be floating. Remember you can place the cubicle over another item to get the right placement.
If you need a higher placement, you may need to stack the cubicle on top of a floor safe (or two or three).
Attach the floated item to the wall of the cubicle - you can use any of the walls, either the interior or exterior walls.
Once the item is attached to the wall of the cubicle, sell the cubicle. The floated otem will remain hanging in mid air, but if you placed your cubicle carefully, it will appear to be attached to another item. -
Pic of Arcane Telepads with floating Beacons (made using the cubicle technique):

That allowed me to float the beacons waayy out from a wall, and to float a wall lamp next to it.
I use cubicles for floating all my wall items, I never could get the hang of stacking the lamps out from the walls. -

If so, Timbits from Tim Horton's, please, none of those crappy grocery store doughnut holes. Thanks. -
I'm guessing - build out a few white wall cabinets and embed the tech barrels in them to get the burners. The backsplash is just a wall vent.
Am I right? -
[ QUOTE ]
Some people have asked a number of my characters in the game to fill in temporarily, and I always ask them why. They then say that it's so the spawns in the mission they're about to enter will be both tougher and bigger. When I ask them why didn't they just change their difficulty level to get the same results, only a few said they were already at the highest possible difficulty level. But most were on, so they said, Heroic. I always turn them down.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure that turning up your difficulty from Heroic to Invinicible still won't spawn a map with the same number of spawns as an 8-person team would do, Anime. They might be looking for even-cons in higher numbers, which can be a different challenge than higher-cons available by increasing your difficulty.
