Quote:As far as we know, it doesn't.Does anyone know if this 'ultra mode' includes higher poly models? Compared to newer games like Aion, the toons here are looking a little boxy.
From what I can glean from various comments of various Devs is that the player character model engine is not expandable. It has an X amount of nodes and polygons baked into the coding of the engine without any expandability built into it. So, it was never coded for input so that a Dev can be queried by the system: "How many nodes do you want along the back? How many polygons do you want to use to create the hands?" Etc...
What *can* be done is to use textures and 'skins' that have more and more detail and texture. Look at the faces of the Scrapyarders and you'll see a photo-realistic face texture applied to them. Or, look at the costumes that come in the Booster Packs that looked 3D bumpy.
BAB already told people at HeroCon that non-mitteny five-fingered hands was not going to happen. And Jay told people that backpack-type items were still a way off because of severe clipping problems (PC models don't have a node easily available to hang the backpacks on).
Of course, 'never' doesn't always mean 'never'. They *could* totally rewrite the player character animation engine... but that would be a lot of work over a lot of time. There would have to be a decision made that it would be worth it both in the cost and in the management of resources. Programmers rebuilding the PC engine are programmers not working on the next Issue or Expansion (unless a new PC engine *is* the next Expansion). -
Quote:You laugh at one post I make when I provided a link presuming I misread the OP and now you snap at me for not providing one when I actually did.Source. Please, I guess, but that's just a ridiculous claim to make without sourcing when you make it.
What is your problem? -

There is no Issue planned between now and Going Rogue, which would put the "issue patch" that accompanies GR at Issue 17.
However, it's been reported from HeroCon that Brian Clayton, the General Manager, said that they'll try to get the graphics upgrade (Ultra Mode) into our hands before Going Rogue. This would make that Issue 16.5 (like we had an Issue 11.5 which brought us Real Numbers, Debt reduction and XP curve adjustment, and tons of power fixes).
Or, if there's enough other-non-GR-stuff available, they'll wrap that into a tiny Issue 17 (which would make GR Issue 18).
I'm guessing they're shooting for the 6 year anniversary for GR, which would be 225 days after Issue 16, only three days longer than what we waited for Issue 7. -
Quote:That reminds me of a huge continuity gap with regard to the Praetorians:Quite glad now that the evil Praetorian version of my SS/invuln Tanker actually comes from War World (a world that Battle Maiden comes from and recruits the people into her army) rather than Praetoria.
The Primal Earth Phalanx and Vindicators all are from Primal Earth; but, many of their Praetorian counterparts each have their own 'World.'
Wha?
If Portal tech is something they just discovered in Praetoria, then how did Tyrant hook up with all these goatee-counterparts from various dimensions? -
Robots becoming 'human' is a staple of the genre. I can see the Clockwork King (a non-head-in-a-jar version) being the catalyst for the Clockwork become self-aware and becoming part of the Resistance.

Quote:I'm going to disagree with the assessment that Cryptic would have just thrown together some Behemoths and Imps to create a Demon Summoning set. Both Cryptic and Paragon have always been committed to *not* reusing art to create a Pet Set but instead creating brand new models and kickass upgrade and summons animations. You know, I think this is a pretty good example of why the NC switchover and the creation of Paragon Studios was a good thing. Back in the old days, if we'd asked for a Demon Summoning Mastermind (and we did) we'd have gotten a few Fire Blast powers combined with Fire Imps, Behemoths and a Behemoth Overlord, possibly with Melt Armour at the end.
Well, these demons are most decidedly not that. Who cares if they look like Flesh Golems? They are completely new, really cool demons with a fire whip that don't recycle any of the current powers. And I LOVE it! Even before I've seen the things, I love the concept.
Where Cryptic would be at fault if they still had the CoH IP would be keeping only 15 Devs on CoH with BAB the sole animator making it nearly impossible to have the time to actually create a new MM set.
With regard to the current look of the Demons: I don't see how they're a copy of the Flesh Golems. Angel class characters have similar looks; Zombie class characters have similar looks; and Demon class characters have similar looks. Within the class of 'Demons' the two looks posted here are different enough. -
Well, prior to GR, much of Praetoria *was* a Goatee Primal Earth and not a Alternate History Earth. That was made clear by the Praetoria arc *and* the comic books.

Could we get a hotfix so that the ToT spawns drop magic salvage instead of tech?
-
It's not an industry standard, but something Cryptic uses, so, it would take a programming dev to answer the OP.

Or make him surrounded by every named agent in the arc as EBs.

Hopkins is an AV?!
I thought it was a goon-shaped crate we had to destroy. -
Unless there's more to I18 than what they're saying, I'm leaving for CO!!

Quote:Said me:This is all completely false.
A +2 minion gives more XP/inf than a +0 minion.
I did not say 'nothing' to do...Quote:So, the 4XP system applied to TFs has little to do with greater rewards.
Remember that +2 level spawns take longer to kill. Yes, I know that +2 is the sweet spot for a team working well together to maximize XP, but it's not like you're going to get double or triple XP rewards per kill. And while XP gains are up (for many, but not all teams) salvage and recipe drops *go down* per unit of time.
Also, if you're going for the extra XP that comes from +2 Level spawns, then you don't get that much if you speed run, skipping as many spawns as possible. And if you treat all the missions as kill-alls so that you get the XP from the spawn-defeats, then you're slowing down the rate of mission-completion XP and TF Merits that you could get from a speed run skipping foes and fighting the rest at +0 level.
There are trade-offs for the +2 XP gains.
If you want greater rewards for greater challenges, then rattling around for 4XP to come back to TFs is not the route to go (though, it's slated to come back anyway); rather, keep suggesting to the Devs for a real reward to challenge settings.
If you want just the extra challenge, you don't have to wait for 4XP to come back since TFs have challenge settings. -
That's true in real life, too. I know because on the Weather Channel, there is no weather in Canada: No clouds, no storm fronts, no radar... apparently, there is nothing there for the radar to blip off of.

Go Dark Miasma.
Howling Twilight is a Rez *and* a Foe-Debuff (one that can be used even without a defeated teammate). Same with it's heal. -
Quote:Just in case you don't know, that's a Dev-confirmed bug. It happens when you target an un-attackable object or NPC, such as a Wentworth employee. Hitting Escape clears the target window and your auto-power will start working again.Hell I'd be happy if hasten did autofire instead of getting "stuck" and waiting for me to click it.
Actually, I consider this a feature. Everyone with Healing Aura on auto and who rock the aura at the Market now have it automatically paused.

Quote:Paragon Studios is still part of NCSoft and there are administrative services provided by the parent company: Web Services; Game Mastering; and QA. (Although, I think they may have one or two QA staff on-site, but the rest is still farmed out.)I thought the whole point of buying out Cryptic and opening Paragon was that everything related to CoH could be handled in-house. They've gone so far as to transfer people from Austin and the EU to do so. I don't really think there's a lot that gets done in other places any more.
I know Web Services are at the NCSoft parent studio (and always have been) because all the other NCSoft web sites use the same forum software. Moderation of the web site and forums has been brought under one roof, but the servers are located elsewhere and they serve all the NCSoft subsidiaries.
And some services may be contracted out to a third party. Obviously their East Coast Servers can't be maintained by staff at Mountainview. -
Meanwhile, International Ninja was crushed to learn that City of Heroes
did not return his affections, leaving him dejected and confused! -
I have a sneaking suspicion that our local Mountainview Mods have little to none direct control over the forum settings. More than likely, they have to put in a request with the web administrator located in Austin or Seattle to fiddle with the dials. And judging by how long it took to get the first round of forum 'patches' to come in and fix some admin-level problems... I'm guessing it would be a real chore to make other admin level settings changes.

The F is the first sharp to go. Get a tuner to come in and fix it.
